Davin is a wonderful character. He was deep, caring, compassionate (almost to a fault) and despite his past, did not hold a grudge against his adopted family.  While his demons of the past haunt him, drive him, he does not let what happened to him color his ideas of his job (even a job that he was not all too keen on exploring).
Then you have Alaric.  Wealthy, good looking, confident.  His past has driven him to work harder and try to leave behind how hurt he was when Davin left.
This was a great mystery story.  It had hope, romance, love and a great theme or lesson behind it.  The characters were well developed and it really left the reader feeling good about the story.
I would definitely read more of Jessie G.

I was extremely surprised with how much I ended up loving this book. I haven’t read this author before and I’m so glad I now have!! There is so much hurt in this book between characters, in the past and from Davin being a cop.
I could relate to how a long term relationship was ended abruptly only to come back together and all those feelings still being there once the reason for the break was mended (especially the way this one did).
While there was a lot of talking between the men, I respected it because it showed there was more than sex between them, especially when they are coming off such a long term break that was so painful.
I absolutely loved the way the story played out as I never knew which angle or direction we were going to be lead down. I thought for sure the book was over at 20%… oh but it wasn’t!
The only real complaint I have about this book is that it is termed as BDSM and it really wasn’t. There was talk about it, but there wasn’t much action in that area so I was a bit let down there. Also, during many of the conversations, there wasn’t dialogue tags and it became hard to figure out who was talking especially when they go back and forth numerous times.

AuthorBio

Like many readers, the dream of being a writer has been with me a long time. After three decades of trying, I’d begun to doubt. Thanks to social media, I followed my favorite authors hoping to glean some words of wisdom as I pounded out half-formed ideas with alarming regularity. Two repetitive themes emerged: To be a great writer you must read a lot and your butt must be in the chair every day like it’s a job. The more you write, the easier it will be to write and the better you will be at writing. I took that advice to heart and write every day. With two published books and counting, it’s been amazing to have made this dream my reality.

I am a firm believer in marriage equality, love at first sight, power dynamics and happily ever after. I’m a lover of strong secondary characters and series filled with families, biological or chosen. All are themes you’ll find throughout my books.
