Author Name & Publisher: Morticia Knight (Totally Bound)

Synopsis

SWAT officer, Cole, can handle just about anything, until he rescues Brett—a man who makes him question all he’s ever believed about love.

As a member of the Las Vegas Police Department’s SWAT team, Cole has seen his fair share of danger, but he’s never taken a chance on love. He’s willing to have some fun when the mood strikes him, but he’s married to the job. Called in on a hostage situation, Cole is prepared for anything and everything…except for the brave and beautiful Brett.

Brett has been burned before, most recently by Officer Parker McLean. He’s hoping to settle down in Vegas, perhaps find someone he can build a life with. The last thing Brett’s looking for is another man in uniform. But when he meets Cole, there’s an attraction that can’t be denied. Still, he hadn’t expected to fall for the chiseled alpha.

What begins as nothing more than two people experiencing a great night together spirals into something far deeper. But will Brett be able to handle the stress that comes with having a lover who constantly puts his life in jeopardy? And can Cole risk his heart on an everyday hero, or will the job he knows so well remain his top priority?

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of mild BDSM.

Publisher’s Note: This book is best read as part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

This is the type of story that has been told many times, and every author has a different style of telling it. I happened to enjoy it. The writing captured my attention, and kept it. This is a sexy, heart-warming Journey with Cole and Brett that the author delivers with excitement, humour and some tender moments.

Some people might enjoy the intense chemistry between the characters, and the hot, sweaty moments too (phew, they are hot!!). Some people might find it predictable, but like I said, every author has a different way of telling it, and this author’s way is compelling and convincing.

I look forward to reading more by Morticia Knight.

FourStarsI really enjoyed this story.  I felt that it had a greater depth than what I thought it was going to have and that was a pleasant surprise.  Cole and Brett are such a strong couple and despite my reservations about Cole, he turned out to be a great character.I really had a hard time with Brett’s view on his failings in relationships – I felt that he was so down on himself.  However, I did like that I got to see him blossom under Cole’s love and affection.Cole on the other hand was the exact opposite.  Always keeping people at arms length – I found it both frustrating and admirable that he wanted to keep someone he cared about from having to constantly worry about him.

The character development in this story showed what a wonderfully skilled writer Knight is – she showed patience and thought, but was not so slow as to drag on in the story.

I really enjoy all of Knight’s books and this one did not disappoint.

I found this story really sweet even though it likely wasn’t meant to be. The two men have different goals in life. Cole doesn’t want to find love, doesn’t want someone to worry about him when he is working as a SWAT member while Brett has been hurt and isn’t willing to be with someone not interested in a long term relationship.
While I felt it was predictable at times, I also felt like it was unique in other ways. I loved the chemistry between the characters and their naughty scenes for sure.
I do wish we would’ve gotten a bit more from the possibilities. For example, getting turned on at the gym, but then nothing really came of it. A lot seemed to be so easily resolved instead of deep emotional decisions, except for one thing more towards the end of the story.
All in all I did enjoy the story and it was an easy read. Another graceful coming together from Ms. Knight.

M/M Erotic Romance author Morticia Knight enjoys hot stories of men loving men forever after. They can be men in uniform, Doms and subs, rock stars or bikers – but they’re all searching for the one (or two!) who was meant only for them.

When not indulging in her passion for books, she loves the outdoors, film and music. Once upon a time she was the singer in an indie rock band that toured the West Coast and charted on U.S. college radio. She is currently working on more installments of Sin City Uniforms and The Hampton Road Club, as well as the follow-up to Bryan and Aubrey’s story from Rockin’ the Alternative.
