TWO 4 Star Reviews for Coming Clean by Silvia Violet #MM #Romance #Military @Silvia_Violet

Title: Coming Clean
Author Name: Silvia Violet
Publication Date & Length: May 20, 2015 – 210 pgs

An unexpected inheritance lands Jeremy a large house and plenty of money to take a sabbatical from his job teaching poetry at a small college. He intends to sell the house and take off on a new path to discover what he wants out of life. Then he meets Connor. The attraction he feels to a man so different from himself is no less shocking than his change in financial circumstances, but Connor is in the closet and Jeremy wants a life lived out in the sun.

Connor is a former Force Recon Marine who runs a housecleaning business. When he’s hired to get Jeremy’s house market-ready, he’s startled by how attracted he is to his client despite their many differences. But his past, especially his final mission, weighs heavily on him. He’s not certain he can be the man Jeremy needs, but no man has ever made him want to take a risk like Jeremy does.

I really enjoyed this book. Jeremy is your typical geeky professor who actually received an inheritance in the form of cash and the home he was raised in by his aunt and uncle who in the end weren’t so nice to him. Deciding to take a leave from work to write the book he always wanted to he hires a cleaning company to come clean the house and get it ready to put on the market, even though he isn’t sure that is what he really wants to do. Connor is ex-military. He left a home life that was rough to join and now he has left the military after a horrible last mission. Connor is in the closet gay and has never told anyone nor does he think he ever can. Connor is instantly attracted to Jeremey when he goes to give him a bid on cleaning his house. Jeremey has been out and proud and has no desire to ever hide again, he even wears neon colored socks at times which Connor thinks are adorable. Connor and Jeremey are polar opposites but they seem to click on so many levels. They are the typical don’t judge a book by its cover. The chemistry is good between them and I love how each of them has a friend that is there to support them, back them up and even set them straight. There wasn’t too much drama or angst which I liked, this was just about Jeremey and Connor and their issues and how they dealt with them.

I really enjoyed this story. It’s unique in the sense of what both men do and their situations. The evolution of their relationship was cute and interesting to watch.
I did feel like some of the issues took a backseat to the romance though. Like what Connor had gone through to make him leave the service, which was a big deal, but it mostly brushed under the rug.
I never really got why he help Mario to such a high standard, but I did understand his fear of coming out to anyone after everything he’d been through.
Overall it felt like more of a coming out romance story that could’ve not had the other major issues thrown in, but I loved the flow of the story and the way Connor and Jeremy interacted together and grew as a couple.
