Author Name: Jessie G.
Publication Date & Length: February 13, 2015 – 325pgs

Synopsis

There was a time when Master Saul Alvarez filled his days fighting and his nights teaching willing subs the pleasure of his whip. His compassionate understanding of the masochist mind makes him the most sought after professional sadist in the Miami BDSM community. Neither role invites long term relationships, but he’s comfortable with his solitary existence until he is charged with guarding Durango’s prized whore. One look into those terror filled eyes has him vowing to risk it all to save the beautiful man.

Javier Escardo had been praying for death, but never expected the stone cold killer he got in response. One glimpse into those sinful eyes reveals not only the promise of retribution, but a reason to live. Seven years later, free and mostly sane, Javier is determined to take what belongs to him. Saul’s heart. Through hell and back, through layers of pain and shifting realities, that one truth has remained firm. His protector needs saving and he can’t do it alone.

Hidden beneath the public persona, Kyle Jansen is a man who craves to be invisible without being insignificant. He longs to find a Master who will see his need to be taken over without abusing him and a lover who will care about him beyond the sexual games. It isn’t until he encounters the smoldering combination of Saul and Javier that he realizes it was never supposed to be just one partner at all.

Can two battered hearts be mended by the love of a third? Kyle becomes the light to their darkness, and he’s willing to risk his heart for theirs, but when the past threatens Saul, will Javier’s sacrifice destroy them all?

Author’s Note:
The Protector deals with issues of sexual abuse and forced prostitution. While these acts are not detailed on the page, there are many references to them and the ongoing fight to heal and overcome. This book should not be read by anyone who would be adversely affected by these references.

I really liked this trio. It was well played. The closure to all three of their stories was EPIC.
While I felt like we really REALLY saw growth in Javier and Saul, I felt like there could’ve been more. I would’ve really liked to see Saul and Javier get past that hurt and careful stage they had forever been suspended in.
I think Kyle was absolutely the perfect third for them. He was so great!! I adored Kyle and his ability to pull Saul and Javier together.
The only fault I think this book had was the number of characters. I couldn’t keep them straight as they all came out of the woodwork.
Even as much as I loved this book…. I’m still DYING for Chris’s book.. But this was a really great addition to the series. I hope we get to watch as Javier and Saul come together more in future books since I felt like we got a bit shorted on their story with all the planning and retaliation that went on.

This was a great story. I loved all of the characters and really loved how Javi, Saul and Kyle found their way through tough situations to the love they all felt.  They did not let the past rule their relationship.
Javi and Saul’s relationship was always complex. With a history like they had, it was a wonder they survived at all.  I do wish there had been more dialogue between those two – so many misunderstandings – it led to more hurt than was necessary.
Kyle is a breath of fresh air for both Javi and Saul. He is a great buffer to allow them both to be who they truly are – no hiding and he definitely does not sugar coat his thoughts or feelings.
The sex between the three of them is hot! They have this power between the three of them that nobody will be able to break. I also really love how each man shows they care towards the others.
This entire family was so wonderful to read about – they loved their adopted family and nobody was going to tell them it was wrong and break them apart.
I do wish that there had been a book (or will be more books) about Owen, Liam and especially Chris.

This book started out really slow and confusing to me.  About half way through it did pick up and was more interesting.

The characters were all damaged men.  Saul (the strongest of all of them), Kyle and Javier had good chemistry together. I did feel sorry for Javier ( he was very troubled from past experiences), he seemed to be left out of the threesome. I didn’t feel it was a complete threesome. Saul and Kyle had more on their own. There were plenty of characters from the first two books that added a lot to the story and  I did like the setup of the house they shared, where all of them were ex cons.

The part of the story that revolved on taking out Durango, picked up the pace of the book and was very good.  I think you definitely need to read these books in order for it all to come together.

AuthorBio

Like many readers, the dream of being a writer has been with me a long time. After three decades of trying, I’d begun to doubt. Thanks to social media, I followed my favorite authors hoping to glean some words of wisdom as I pounded out half-formed ideas with alarming regularity. Two repetitive themes emerged: To be a great writer you must read a lot and your butt must be in the chair every day like it’s a job. The more you write, the easier it will be to write and the better you will be at writing. I took that advice to heart and write every day. With two published books and counting, it’s been amazing to have made this dream my reality.

I am a firm believer in marriage equality, love at first sight, power dynamics and happily ever after. I’m a lover of strong secondary characters and series filled with families, biological or chosen. All are themes you’ll find throughout my books.
