There were some parts in the early sections of this book that left me feeling confused but I have since chalked that up to having not read Taliasman. Once I gained a grasp on the characters and their relationships to each other it flowed well and kept my interest. The twists and turns in the plot held my attention and the characters seemed well put together and properly developed. I fully intend to read Taliasman in the near future to give me a better understanding of this storyline and I would recommend other readers pick up that book first.

Overall this book was well planned, detailed, well written and made me want more from the characters in the future!

Another wonderful book by Ms. Vitsky. There are so many reasons I love her work, and this was no exception. Once again, I was hooked on the first page.

As usual, this was another story that made me think deeply about forgiveness and redemption. It was much more overtly Christian, which may not be for everyone but was a definite selling point for me. I adored the group personality of the church ladies and found myself relating in the sense of recognizing the dynamics and enjoying their relationships. I’d have loved to know more about them.

The relationships between Gemma and the other women in the story were fascinating. I found it interesting that she was so reserved with those in her offline life but much more willing to let her natural personality out online. I think that’s something many people can relate to in an era when a lot of our interactions are online rather than face-to-face.

Despite her deceptions, Celine was my favorite character. I thought she experienced the most growth during the course of the story–from someone wanting to learn more about the woman she loved to discovering herself as a person with a complex identity, she was a treasure.

There were moments when I wasn’t sure how I felt about some of the things both Gemma and Celine did. Gemma seemed quick to blame Celine despite her own shortcomings. However, I think that’s realistic, and the way in which they moved past it made sense to who they were. I’m not sure how I would have reacted in their situation; probably not any differently.

For me, this story went beyond simply entertaining me (though it did plenty of that too). It made me think deeply about the themes and the interactions between the characters. All in all, a multi-faceted and enjoyable read.

I’m a big fan of Ms. Vitsky’s work, and I’m always excited to find a new story to read. This one is the sequel to Mistress on Her Knees. Despite my usual love for her work, this was one story that left me unsure how I felt.

As far as the writing, it’s as beautiful as ever. The phrasing is lovely, and the imagery is vivid without being overly descriptive. The characters are complex and interesting, with rich histories that play into the power dynamics between them. Graciela and Trinity both have good points and flaws, and each has her own set of needs. I admit I’ve always been on Trinity’s side (I think I relate to her more), but Graciela grew on me.

I also always appreciate the way Ms. Vitsky works themes of repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation into the story. I think that’s what ended up leaving me uncomfortable in this one. Usually, I feel a sense that the reconciliation is mutual and even though spanking/discipline will continue to be part of the relationship, it never feels conditional. In this one, it felt conditional, and there were some elements which felt as though consent was absent or unclear. It’s possibly personal preference (these are literally the only BDSM-themed stories I will read). But it still disappoints me not to absolutely be in love with a favorite author’s story.

Despite that, I would still recommend this highly to fans of Ms. Vitsky or fans of F/f stories in general. It’s still well-written and interesting. I recommend reading the first part and possibly the other stories in which these characters appear beforehand, though.

4.5 and 3 Stars for Ana Adored for Anastasia Vitsky #FF #Spanking @AnastasiaVitsky

1.2

Title: Ana Adored
Author Name: Anastasia Vitsky
Publication Date & Length: Feburary 28, 2015 – 226pgs

Synopsis

Shy Ana has two secret passions: she loves other women and she has always harbored an intense fascination with all things “spanking.” Unfortunately, her current girlfriend, Peyton, has no interest in indulging what she refers to as “sick and deviant” fantasies.

But when their latest argument becomes one black eye too many, Ana’s had enough. Finally finding the necessary courage and strength of will, she orders Peyton out of her house and out of her life. Break-ups with abusers are never easy or painless, and in the emotionally chaotic aftermath of hers, Ana turns to the only friend she has – a woman she met online more than a year before on, of all things, a plant forum.

Miranda is everything Peyton is not. She listens. She understands. She accepts. And when she unexpectedly offers Ana a plane ticket to fly out to Ohio and meet with her, face-to-face for the very first time, Ana doesn’t hesitate for long. She packs a bag and goes on vacation; ten days, prepaid, at the Castle, the most infamous BDSM resort in the world.

On the surface, everything seems so perfect and magical. But Ana isn’t at the Castle long before she realizes she isn’t the only woman with secrets. Miranda Hardwick, the Castle’s most feared and respected Mistress, has a few secrets of her own.

As the lines between fantasy and reality and friends and lovers begin to blur, both women quickly realize that if their blossoming relationship is to survive, they’re going to have to put their secrets aside – Miranda, with her strange “emergencies” that keep calling her away, and Ana, with Peyton, who just won’t accept a life without Ana in it.

Content warning: This story has a scene of domestic violence between one of the main characters and the woman she’s with at the beginning of the book. Some readers may need to be aware of that ahead of time.

This novel was slower-paced than most of Ms. Vitsky’s work. I was drawn into it immediately, but the rhythm of the story was somewhat inconsistent. That may be due in part to the length. That said, it was a good read that gave me a lot to think about.

As is usually the case with Ms. Vitsky (and why I like her writing so much), there’s an ongoing theme of sin/redemption and remorse/forgiveness. I liked the way Peyton’s version was juxtaposed with Miranda’s and the careful analysis of how both women affected Ana at a deep level.

I loved the wild, wonderful cast of supporting characters. They were every bit as important as the two main leads. The various goings-on in the Castle and among the staff had me hanging on every word just to see what would happen next. I found myself wishing they were real people I could meet.

This story has my all-time favorite kind of sensuality: steamy, romantic, and beautiful all without long, graphic descriptions of body parts and sex acts. There was just enough detail to please me without making me feel as though it were too much, and it fit well within the context. The few more characteristically “dirty” words used were another kind of juxtaposition–Ana’s innocence vs. Miranda’s ease–and it worked perfectly.

Most of all, my favorite part was the open, honest way Ana reflected on her journey toward accepting the parts of herself she’d kept hidden. I loved the message that no one is wrong or broken or should ever feel ashamed for their needs and desires.

This is a good curl-up-with-a-blanket-and-tea kind of book.

Well, I can honestly say that this is not what I expected. I expected to have one floundering woman who was fantasizing about someone dominating her and spanking her.  What the story delivered was two floundering women – one who was trying to come to terms with her desires and the other who was a very bad dominant.
This was a frustrating book at best. While the story line was easy to track, there were so many “misunderstandings” that it became redundant and somewhat boring. The most exciting parts were when Peyton came back in to the picture and despite my hatred for her, she breathed life back in to the story.
Overall, this story lacked heat, was not a good showing of what a true fantasy “Disneyland” would be like and also showed, that despite her reputation for being a great Domme, how terrible she really was at earning the trust that Ana had put in her.

I was left confused and fumbling through a lot of this book as the main character is being forced to learn to speak Korean by people repeating the various words at her as she says them back (mostly getting them wrong along with a lot of thought about what other words she thinks about while trying to say them correctly).
Indigo goes to Korean for a ‘job’ because her great aunt pays for her plane ticket, which I find incredibly odd because she’s not going for a job, but to be a bride or at the minimum a date. I know Indi is running away from her ex, but I would still think she’d ask SOME questions before flying out of the country. Sure, it’s not France where she’d rather be going, but there was nothing forcing her to leave the country at the first opportunity either. Not to mention, we never found out who the woman behind it all was, the Madam.
The story is very insta love, which I’m never a fan of. A few spanks and a deep conversation or two does not make love. While some of the spanking were interesting, it seemed to be lacking in emotions and feelings to make it sensual or hot.
However, I would read from this author again because I felt like it was the story and trying to write a story about the location, more than the characters that made it lacking, not the authors talent. Her writing was quite clean and easy to read.
