Third Mate is the third in the River Wolf Pack series. Unlike the first two books, which focused on one relationship per book, Third Mate follows three relationships, with multiple points of view.
I’ve been a fan of Rebecca’s since reading First Omega, and I’ve absolutely loved the entire series. Third Mate was no exception. Tensions in the River Wolf Pack have been building since book one, and it was interesting to see how that storyline was dealt with, as well as what it meant for Josiah, River, and their daughters. Continuing from book two was the relationship between Jax and David, which somehow managed to get even more complicated before getting better. But I absolutely loved seeing that play out and I was so happy that they were able to find peace and happiness, even if it wasn’t the way they first thought it would be.
The new love story in book three was that of Sam and Leo. I was so pleased to see Sam finally find a place in the pack, especially with someone like Leo. Still, there was a large part of me that wanted Foster to be part of the mix, but I feel like there’s enough grey area that it could be revisited. And if not, then I guess the reader can determine whether Foster found his true mate or if he decided to mate with Leo and Sam.
On top of an excellent plot, the sex scenes were hot as always. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying addition to the River Wolf Pack series.

In Second Alpha, Sam was taken into River Wolf Pack after losing his pack. He roamed the woods for months with his brother until his brother was killed by a trap. In Third Mate, Sam has become enamored with grouchy, sexy alpha, Leo. He has a feeling, though, that Leo is in love with Foster, Sam’s best friend. Shy and emotionally vulnerable, Sam tries to keep to himself, but often Foster won’t let him.

Excerpt from Third Mate:

“What’s cooking?” Foster asked. “It smells really good.”

“Lasagna and garlic bread,” Leo answered. “Also salad.”

“I didn’t think you could cook.”

Sam couldn’t help glancing up at that, and he found the alpha looking sheepish.

“Brooks cooked for me.”

“Of course, I did.” Brooks came in from the kitchen, apron still around his waist. “And I’m staying to eat, too.”

Foster grinned at Brooks. “I’m glad you’re here. Do you know if the library has a book on the health of omega shifters?”

Sam had the urge to kick Foster as Leo turned green eyes on Sam.

“Something wrong with your health?” At Leo’s intense scrutiny, Sam’s heart sped up to the point his vision whited out for a moment, and the next thing he knew, strong arms came around him, lowering him onto soft cushions. When Sam’s eyes fluttered open, he almost stopped breathing to find Leo’s face close to his own. “Are you okay?” Leo asked.

Foster’s worried face appeared over Leo’s shoulder. “He hasn’t been eating right.” Foster looked at Brooks. “Do you have a book on it?”

“I don’t think so,” Brooks said. “You’ve seen everything I have on the subject of shifters of any kind. I’ll add it to the list of books I want to get in the city.”

“You’re going to the city?” Leo asked. Sam had heard that after the kidnapping Brooks had said he’d never go back there.

“No. Xavier will go. Or Malcolm.” Brooks looked down at Sam. “I’ll get you some water.” Sam tried to struggle to a sitting position, but Leo’s big hand on his shoulder stopped him.

“Rest a minute. How long have you been having dizzy spells?”

There was no way Sam was going to tell the alpha he’d collapsed out of sheer excitement just because Leo had looked at him a certain way. “I’ve only had a few recently.”

“Do I have to come over and make you eat every day?” Leo asked, and Sam had a sudden vision of the alpha force-feeding him something that wasn’t food. He swallowed audibly, and caught Foster’s knowing smile over Leo’s shoulder.

“I think he’d like that,” Foster said. Fuck, Sam was going to beat Foster’s ass when they got home. He settled for a scowl for now. It didn’t seem to worry Foster too much. Brooks came back with the water, and Leo helped Sam sit up before moving away.

Foster took his place on the couch. “Feeling better?”

Sam nodded. “I just need to eat, I guess.”

“Well, it’s ready, so let’s dig in,” Brooks said, leading the way into the dining room.

It wasn’t difficult for Sam to eat the entire portion given him; the food was delicious. He tried to resist, though, when Foster pushed seconds onto his plate.

“Come on. Be a good boy and eat it all up.” Foster grinned at Sam, and Sam saw Leo watching him. How could Foster be so oblivious to the alpha’s interest? Sam took a bite of lasagna to appease his friend, but as soon as Foster began talking to Brooks, Sam put his fork down and drank his water instead. That is, until Leo growled. With a sigh, Sam took another bite of lasagna.

“How come you asked us to dinner?” Foster asked Leo. “Sick of the food in the dining hall?”

Leo looked uncomfortable. “Not at all. I just thought…” He glanced at Brooks. “Brooks could use some practice in the kitchen.”

“Oh, well, thanks for inviting us.” Foster shoved a large forkful of salad into his mouth and chewed, missing the eye roll Brooks gave Leo. So Leo had enlisted his friend’s help in impressing Foster. Figured. Sam was just the necessary tag-along.

“Will you guys be staying in the guest bungalow permanently?” Brooks asked Foster and Sam.

“I think River said he was going to have something a little smaller built for us, unless we want our own places,” Foster said. “I think we’ll stay together, though.”

“Oh?” Brooks looked with interest between Foster and Sam. “It’s like that, is it?”

“Like what?”

“He thinks we’re fucking,” Sam said, and Leo dropped his fork onto his plate with a clatter.

Foster laughed. “Oh.” He shrugged.

Sam wondered at the fact he didn’t deny it. Leo looked apoplectic, and Brooks seemed to be trying to hide a smile.

“Dessert anyone?” Brooks asked.

Sam moaned at the very thought of more food. He leaned back in his chair and held his stomach. “I’m stuffed.”

“What did you make?” Foster asked.

“Strawberry shortcake.”

“I definitely want some.” Foster looked at Sam. “We can share.”

Sam had every intention of refusing a bite, but when Foster held out the forkful of fluffy cake, dripping with red strawberry juice and whipped cream, he found himself opening his mouth to take it in, eyes fluttering shut as his lips closed around the fork. When he felt the fork slide from his mouth, he opened his eyes to see three pairs staring at him. “What?” Sam licked whipped cream from his lips.

Leo abruptly stood and mumbled something about having to use the bathroom.

4 stars, 3.5 stars and 3 stars for The Omega Nanny by Penelope Peters @penelope_writes #MM #mPreg #Romance

Title: The Omega Nanny
Author Name & Publisher: Penelope Peters
Publication Date & Length: April 21, 2016 — 281 Pages

Single dad Thomas Whittaker loves work, his daughter, and coffee – not always in that order. Romance hasn’t been on his mind since his mate died six years ago. When his sister hires the cute busboy from Thomas’s favorite coffee shop as the new nanny, he’s just amused.

Until he finds out that the busboy is an omega.

Kieran Corvey is newly single, almost homeless – and determined to pay back every cent his parents spent on an engagement that went nowhere. Kieran needs money more than he needs a love life. Being hired to take care of a six-year-old girl is much better than shilling coffee to thirsty and lusty customers all day.

Until he finds out his new employer is an alpha.

Sometimes you find exactly what you need when you’re not looking for it at all.

The Omega Nanny is a standalone Omegaverse non-shifter story with a HEA and mpreg (male pregnancy) ending.

Add to GoodReads

Ok, first off, this isn’t a shifter story. I know right? With a title like “The Omega Nanny” you’d assume that it’s some kind of werewolf book. Nope. The world set up is strange, one I haven’t read before, and though it was confusing, I liked it.
In this world, there are people who are born as Alphas, Betas and Omegas. Apparently Betas didn’t have much rights and weren’t treated like Alpha’s and Omegas. In the story, Thomas is an Alpha who’s wife had died, leaving him to raise their baby girl with the help of his sister. Then his sister finally finds a mate and wants to leave so Thomas needs a dependable nanny for his kid.
Kieran is an Omega and is working hard to save up money to pay his parents back for a broken engagement. That little plot didn’t make much sense to me, but hey, I went with it. Kieran ends up being Thomas’ nanny and they start falling for each other. I liked these two, but I was frustrated at the same time. I didn’t get enough Kieran and Thomas alone time. Plus I felt like it was missing some info in places. And what was up with Thomas’ dead wife? lol Was she a ghost?
Ah well. It was an interesting take on the Alpha/Omega attraction without shifters involved.
What a great book. I have really taking a liking to paranormal books. And this one is no exception. I really enjoyed this read.

I really enjoyed watching the attraction between Kieran and Thomas. Their was so much push and pull between them. It was like they would take one step towards each other only to take ten steps away from one another.

Kieran in my opinion was so scared that the attraction between the two of them was not real and that it was only because of being an omega and the pheromones that he put off that he did not trust himself to make the right decision.

Thomas in my opinion knew he was falling for Kieran but he was scared to admit his feelings for him especially after losing his last mate. But his attraction is so strong towards Kieran that no matter how many times Kieran pulls away, Thomas takes a step forward.

It is that fear that both men have that almost costs them each other. The question is will the fear of admitting he is in love with Kieran be to much to admit his feelings for him. And is the fear that Kieran has about it not being real enough for him to walk away.

It was really such a great story line and I am glad I read this book. I think many more will enjoy it also.

Hmmm… where to start with this story… I think the main redeeming factor for me was the child.  Jessie was adorable and what held this story together for me.  She helped to create an atmosphere that was more conducive to the story.

I had a major issue with Thomas.  He was cowardly, stubborn, mean and not at all what I would picture an Alpha to be like.  Not only was he stubborn about his own desires, but he used his coworker Nora in a way that was icky and mean.  I know she knew what was happening, but it doesn’t really make it better.

Kieran is adorable, but he’s adorable in that too innocent way.  He was tired of the previous Alpha not really wanting him – he wanted the fairy tale romance, which is sweet and not super realistic.  I did like that his family, despite him slightly rejecting them, kept coming around to show him what that he was still loved.  I really liked that his dad never gave up.  I do with that we knew more about Cameron and Desmond’s relationship – that felt unfinished and strange – it was really just left hanging out there.

Overall, while I liked the ending of this story – to get there, there really was no challenge – Thomas just needed to get over himself.

New Release: TWO 5 Star Reviews for The Dilemma (Sirius’s Wolves #5) by Victoria Sue (AUTHOR INTERVIEW) #MM #Shifters #Mpreg @vickysuewrites

Orion 5Title: The Dilemma (Sirius’s Wolves #5)
Author Name & Publisher: Victoria Sue (Dark Hollows Press)
Publication Date & Length: April 7, 2016 – 50,000 Words

Marcus has just become the only human ever to be Alpha of a werewolf pack and thwarted the plans of Anubis to destroy the goddess Sirius’ creation – the werewolves.

Now, Anubis has decided to focus his efforts instead on Marcus and his new pack, to try and destroy the pack from within. In order to do this, Anubis seeks the one thing Marcus wants above all else and when he finds it, will use that to get him to walk away from his mates and the pack.

Unaware of the evil god’s plans, Marcus works together with Kellan and Ricoh, not only trying to help Nate recover from the vicious torture he has undergone at the hands of the terrorist group, The Winter Circle, but to also come to terms with leading a pack of over two thousand wolves.

Marcus soon will be faced with a dilemma, but will he give everything up for his mates and the pack or will the temptation Anubis offers him be too much for one human to refuse? Will Marcus put his wolves before himself or will he be tricked into leaving them behind forever?

This book is part of a series and I recommend reading theothers. The stories are interwoven, and not a waste of your time.
I think what I have enjoyed about Victoria Sue’s writing with this series is her ability to introduce multiple characters and bind them to your heart. Seriously. Each book I read, I love thecharacters in that story. They pull me in and wrap themselves around me like a safe, warm blanket. I might not always love what happens in the story, but I can’t help reading every word.
This story has gut-wrenching moments that felt like they were creeping under my skin and I could feel Nate’s pain.
This is an important part of the wolves series with damaged heroes who leave a lasting impression.

Victoria Sue keeps rocking these Sirius Wolves. The backstory continues on, but even in this book 5, it keeps you guessing as to what will happen next.

Marcus finally has his mates, but not 1 mate, 3 mates, and not just 3 mates, but 3 wolf mates. It broke my heart throughout to know why Marcus feels that he cannot even have 1 mate. Ms. Sue does a fabulous job of creating a character (Kellan) that has not been well liked through the prior stories and not only comes out filling your heart with love, but you find yourself cheering for him and with a huge twist of surprise that I will not reveal but will make you melt. Ricoh and Nate were just amazing and to read about Nate will make you think you can succeed over hurdles in life.

All the prior characters are still there and heavily involved with the story in which I absolutely love about Victoria Sue’s writing. Most series, once the couples’ story has been told, they are usually shuffled into the background, but not in this series. Everyone is up front and part of the show. Blaze, Conner, Darric and especially Aden stays with you and is an integral part of the storyline, and helps Marcus realize that love comes in all shapes and sizes and especially numbers. Why would you want to limit yourself to one mate, when you can have 3 equal loving mates? The question is, does Marcus let go of not having full legs, which makes him feel less than a whole man, so he can share his heart and compassion like the man he is?

This series keeps me entertained and attached to the men, as each one has their own strength and power that you become a part of their family and do not want to leave. I cannot wait until the next book in this series and with fingers crossed Victoria Sue doesn’t ever end this series.

Nate opened his eyes slowly and looked down. Kellan blinked as they both seemed to shimmer for a few seconds and then gaped as he stared at the white wolf now standing shoulder to shoulder with a black one.

Nate had shifted. Not only had he shifted into a beautiful wolf, his wolf was black. Nate was an Alpha.

“Does that mean what I think it does?” Marcus said quietly.

“I’ve never seen his wolf,” Ricoh said, awe coloring his words.

Then in another second, Nate had shifted back, and that was their second surprise. He was fully clothed. Kellan realized there had been no torn clothes on the floor, and as far as he knew Darric was the only wolf with that ability.

Nate stood. The wolf, Chris, was still close enough so Nate could burrow his hands in the thick white fur.

Marcus took a step forward and Nate lifted his head — and they all gasped. All hesitancy, all trace of fear, all the remnants of pain that Nate seemed to carry with him constantly — it all vanished as the man took a step and Marcus opened his arms for Nate to step into them.

The white wolf shook himself, casually licked a paw, and headed for one of the smaller meeting rooms. Conner followed him with some jeans he had been carrying. In seconds Chris and Conner were walking over to Marcus, Chris fully shifted back and clothed. Nate and Marcus stood quietly holding each other.

Blaze spoke up. “Unless it’s essential for you all to be here would you please give your Alphas some privacy?”

In seconds everyone had disappeared except for both Alpha groups and Chris. Blaze drew some chairs together and sat down. Aden chuckled, his arms full with a sleeping baby. “Well, you don’t see that every day.”

“Look,” Marcus said quietly, holding one of Nate’s scarred hands. The skin was smooth. Injury free, no burn marks, no missing nails.

Aden stared in astonishment. “That’s incredible. Shifting heals, but it doesn’t remove scars.”

Darric dropped a hand on his leg. “I should know,” Aden whispered.

Kellan swallowed, guilt immediately swamping him. Kellan had lured Aden back to their old pack the last time when he got injured again.

Aden lifted his head and stared at Kellan. Then he smiled, and Kellan felt the guilt ease. He was grateful. He wasn’t sure he deserved it, but he was grateful.

“I have to ask,” Blaze said when they were all sitting down. Marcus and Nate were side by side, but Kellan had drawn Ricoh to him. Of them all, Ricoh seemed the most shocked. “I understand you were thrown out of your pack as a child. Was it because you are an Alpha?”

Nate sat a little taller. “I’m not an Alpha,” he said hesitantly.

“I can assure you,” Darric interrupted, “your wolf is black. Alpha marked. Besides which, I can feel your energy.” He paused and assessed him. “That’s new, isn’t it?”

“New?” Marcus asked.

“My wolf is gray,” Nate said hesitantly. He looked at Chris who was sitting quietly with Conner.

“Did you do that? I felt an incredible amount of power when I touched you.”

Chris put his head to one side and laughed nervously. “I don’t think so. I just remember thinking you seemed hurt and that I had to help you.”

“I felt the Alpha power. I can sense it in you,” Darric said.

Nate turned his head and gazed at Darric. “I’m sorry. I know those are words often said with little meaning, but I—”

Darric reached over and clasped Nate’s hand. “The gods knew what they were doing. I think everything happened as it should.” Darric smiled. “I think you are an Alpha for a reason, and I think the gods have a purpose for you.”

Kellan gazed at everyone’s awed faces and knew that Darric was right. Even he could feel the steady thrum of Alpha power coming from Nate. What did that mean for their future?

Marcus stared in awe. He wasn’t totally sure what was happening here. “Are you saying that because Nathaniel has a black wolf, he’s an Alpha, and that his wolf has changed color?”

“There are different types of Alphas, Marcus. My wolf is silver,” Darric said.

“Stephen’s is golden brown, as is mine,” Conner said.

Marcus frowned. “Then why do you say black means Alpha-marked if an Alpha can be any color?”

Darric smiled. “Alpha-marked also means marked by gods.” He gestured at Blaze. “Blaze’s wolf is black. It’s usually an indication of leadership as well.”

Marcus gazed at Nate. “What does that mean for you?” Did that mean he should be running the pack? But Nate never left their rooms. He looked like he had a newfound confidence, but he was still curled into Marcus’ side as if he needed protection.

Nate looked at a complete loss. Aden spoke up. “I am not completely sure but I would hazard a guess that Sirius has a specific job for you to do,” he said quietly.

Marcus nearly shook his head in complete disbelief, but then he knew all the other incredible things that had happened, Darric being alive, the baby that Aden was cuddling. If they had happened, why was it such a leap to believe Nate had a higher purpose of some sort?

Marcus thought hard. Even as the other Alphas stood and congratulated Nate and fussed over Chris, he let the conversation swirl around him and he knew. Kellan was a strong werewolf.

Ricoh had gotten a strength of purpose planning the new school and helping the kids he loved.

And Nate — his fragile boy, the one who Marcus had never been able to leave for long, because he needed him so much … Nate was an Alpha werewolf. If he wasn’t about to run a pack then he was destined to play some important role. God touched.

Marcus eased his arm away from Nate as Nate laughed at something Darric said. At the end of the day, Marcus was fooling himself. Nate healing had just taken away his reason for being here, and he was very much afraid none of them needed him now.

New Release: 4.5 Star and 4 Star Reviews for Mending the Rift by Chris T. Kat (AUTHOR INTERVIEW) #MM #MPreg @christi_kat

Title: Mending the Rift
Author Name & Publisher: Chris T. Kat (Dreamspinner Press)
Publication Date & Length: March 14, 2016 – 68,000 Words

In a future where man’s ability to reproduce is severely compromised, humanity has adapted to survive. Breeders—male and female—have become precious commodities, and they are strictly guarded and subject to limitations.

Luca Walker is a breeder. Though he knows what’s expected of him as the youngest son of the Northern Confederacy’s Vice President, he’s held out against the pressures of an arranged marriage because he longs to marry for love, not duty. But he’s been promised to Colonel Liam Smith and there’s little he can do about it, no matter that Luca is secretly in love with his bodyguard, Marcus Gray.

When Luca finds himself pregnant with Marcus’s baby, Smith is furious and vows to take what is his—by force, if necessary. Now Luca must fight for his life and the life of his unborn child… as well as the love of Marcus and the happily ever after he’s always dreamed of.

Triggers: Male pregnancy, human experimentation, kidnapping M/M Pregnancy, romance, mystery

The times are strange – changing of regimes, turf wars, experimentation on humans, forced pregnancies for both men and women, it’s a time where breeders have no choices.  Due to his family’s high profile, Luca is able to hold out on being paired for as long as possible.  You get to see the beginning of Luca and Marcus’ relationship, as well as the progression.

Marcus and Luca have an amazing relationship.  I love how tender they are with each other and their family.  They have good chemistry and you can really read the love they share.

Then, you have Luca’s family – the fathers who are amazing, accepting and just want what’s best for their son.  I love how devoted they are, but also how involved they are in his life.

With Luca’s life endangered several times throughout this story, it creates a lot of angst for the reader.  Right from the start, this story had my blood pumping and heart racing – what was going to happen next?

I enjoyed this story because you were never quite sure what was going to happen next.

I truly enjoyed this story. Yes, men can’t get pregnant in real life, but Chris T Kat does a splendid job in explaining how men are able to get pregnant in this story and it almost becomes reality.

I completely fell in love with Luca and his family. Luca was completely smitten with his bodyguard, Marcus, and did not want to be married into the pending arranged marriage with Liam Smith. Luca took steps to stop this even before he found out that he was pregnant by Marcus. Nicholas, Luca’s dad, was full of humor, witty, brilliant, and just all around fun. No wonder Luca turned out just the same. It was refreshing to read a story that that it was more accepted than rejected for two males to be in love and have a family. This family was just a joy and I would love to be a part of it.

Chris T. Kat wrote an edge of your seat story. The mystery and suspense that kept finding its way to Luca was stomach clenching and I kept finding myself saying “no, no, no please no.” Luca didn’t deserve any of it. But when it all unravels, you find yourself siding with Luca’s other father, Gregory, and understand why the villain throughout the story actually isn’t.

The story flowed well through the 32 weeks timeframe (conception to birth for a male) and I was engaged the whole time. The emotions between Luca and Marcus were deep felt and I wanted to protect them both.

This story was from the true love aspect, to the whole as a family aspect and I was taken on a multiple turn of events that kept me reading through to the end. This was my first Chris T Kat story and I will continue to read more.

Marcus rappelled off and stepped onto the ground with a crunch of his boots. Pointing at the opening with the askew ladder, he asked, “Don’t tell me you seriously considered climbing down this way.”

Luca shrugged. “I’d have preferred spontaneous levitation, but it didn’t happen.”

He yelped when Marcus put an arm around his torso and lifted him to his feet, as if he weighed nothing. “Hey!”

Marcus silenced him with a glare, and Luca gritted his teeth while Marcus thumped dust off his clothes. “Your father is livid.”

Luca swallowed. He’d expected worried, maybe a bit mad, but livid? His father never got furious at him. Not for long, anyway. Being the baby of the family had its perks. “Why?”

“Why? Seriously, Luca, you have to ask why?” Marcus patted Luca’s behind more firmly than was strictly necessary.

Luca shifted, trying to get away from Marcus’s arm. When that didn’t help, he slapped Marcus’s hands away and stepped aside. He couldn’t think when he was so close to Marcus—when the man touched him, he sent shivers up and down his spine. He ignored the glower Marcus directed at him. “Yes, seriously. He knows I don’t want to marry Smith. I don’t want anything to do with all that shit. I want to decide what I’m going to do with my life.”

Marcus shook his head. “Smith is a good man. My brother Kyle worked for him. He said he always treated his people well. If you want I could try to get Kyle on the phone so you can talk to him. That is, if I can get a hold on him. Trust me, you’ll be in good hands.”

“You don’t get it! I don’t want to be in good hands!”

“No?” Marcus raised an eyebrow.

Luca huffed, a small smile forming on his lips. “Well, yes, of course I want to be in good hands. But I want someone to love me, and not just for my ability to become pregnant. I want… you.”

Luca’s heart thundered in his rib cage. There, he’d said it. The ball was in Marcus’s court. Sure, it had only been one night, and Marcus’s reaction afterward hadn’t been promising, but maybe he’d just been scared? Maybe he feared to lose his job? Nonetheless, there was more going on between them, and they both knew it. That one night had just been the last logical step. Luca regretted nothing.

For a moment Marcus seemed startled, and there was a softness in his eyes that was solely reserved for Luca. The softness vanished too quickly for Luca’s liking.

Instead, Luca was greeted with Marcus’s usual, scrutinizing gaze. “You don’t want me, and you better never mention this again. It was a mistake. Now get it out of your head and be a good boy.”

I really liked this story.  Despite not reading all of the previous books, I did not feel lost or wonder who everyone was.

Caden is running for his life.  He is trying to figure out how to survive.  I liked his character’s strength and really enjoyed how he was able to, despite his fears, allow Samuel to barrel in to his life.

Then you have Samuel.  He is so upset when he learns of his fated mates’ death.  I was sad for him.  Steele did a good job at conveying the depth of Samuel’s sadness.  Then, when he meets Caden, despite still mourning for his mate, there is something about Caden that Samuel just can’t get past.

They have scorching chemistry, have bumps in the road and eventually come full circle.

This book is a MPEG and I know some like reading MPEG and some do not so I wanted to put a warning in this review. For me I don’t mind it and I liked how it was handled by the author in this book.

Samuel is in mourning after he finds out his mate has just died before he got the chance to meet him. Caden is in hiding in fear for his life so he must change everything about himself and start over or he is afraid he will be killed if he does not.

I thought this story between these two men was very sweet! You get action with this book along with steam between these two men also.

I really liked the way this author wrote this story and these characters!
