— You can take a killer’s memory, but not his instinct —
All Seth wants is to live free with the man he loves. But escaping death at the hands of the mafia is just the beginning of an uphill struggle. When Domenico wakes up from his impromptu surgery and doesn’t even remember Seth’s name, Seth’s world falls apart. Suddenly it’s him who has to plan an escape from New York City and navigate their way to Mexico. All that without even knowing if the man of his life will ever love him again.
Domenico doesn’t know who to trust and what to believe. The man who introduces himself as his brother seems to hide dark secrets behind a cheerful smile. With the mafia breathing down their necks, there is no time to piece together the puzzle of Domenico’s life, and each time he thinks he’s solved it, a new part appears to be missing. Dom needs to find out who he really is, what he’s capable of… and what is the real story hidden behind Seth’s intense eyes.
Whew! This series has been a very wild ride. In the third book (called Book 2?) we finally get some romance to mop up some of the blood. This, however, is also the bloodiest book!
Seth and Dom are on the run from their Family. Dom has amnesia and serious injuries from the fight at the end of the previous book. In a complete role reversal, it is up to Seth to get them out of New York and keep the pair safe from the Mafia.
The previous two books were gay Godfather/Goodfellas/Sopranos stories that moved somewhat predictably between New York, Berlin and Italy. This third book involves a hitman-heavy road trip across the USA. The men have swapped Armani for thrift stores and Italian luxury cars for an RV, a mini-van and a pet chicken.
Dom, with amnesia, is a much gentler character at the start. The amnesia gives both men get a chance to start over without being haunted by mistakes made the first time around. I loved watching Seth take charge and demonstrate some the skills Dom spent so much time teaching him.
The authors’ imaginations know no bounds. Blood thirsty carnage in an abattoir is causally offset by the hippie hitchhiker who offers Dom tofu sausage. A house explodes, a piglet refuses to be roasted and an old friend dares criticise Italian cooking while eating Seth’s food. Oh – and I forgot to mention the most depraved torture scene yet.
As usual, the sex is filthy and brutal but the third installment offers a few slightly more tender scenes. Seth’s food is still delectable – we need copies of his mother’s cookbook! And of course, the two beautiful Italian men are still smokin’ hot.
This story won’t stand alone. Two full novels introduce the Villani crime family and all the relationships within it. And seriously, you won’t want to miss the sparks that fly when Dom and Seth first meet.
Not sure where to start. Did you ever have a book you didn’t want to get to the end of, this one was it for me. This book took my breath away in so many different ways. The story had so much love between Dom and Seth, but so many hardships they had to cross. There was so much violence, but I wouldn’t have expected anything less or wanted it any different. It was written so well that you felt part of the story.
In this book Dom didn’t have any memory, he was normally the one in charge but Seth took that role. But you had to just love Seth, nothing ever worked out right for him. So many times I was laughing because of the way things would turn out. I loved how Seth would make people food to pay back a debt. Seth was trying to tell Dom of his background to help him remember, but the best part was Seth would make things up to fool him. So entertaining. The love between Dom and Seth was beautiful.
The ending was unbelievable and is not for the faint of heart. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series.
I enjoyed this book It was well written and kept my interest. If you like violence and suspense with your romance this is a book for you.
The dedication and love these boys have for each other is clear as well as their determination to do whatever it takes to keep each other safe.
I like the fact that no matter what happened or how bad things get they continue to be there for each other and make it work.
I also think it ends in a really good place you can read this as a stand alone but it also leaves you wanting to read book 3.
