Charlie Cochet is an exceptional author. She is always bringing some amazing book to the table and this is one that I really enjoyed. I like that Charlie took this book and made into a short story with snippets of everyone’s life that we as readers have wondered about and made it a reality. I liked being able to read about how Dex and Cael became a family. I liked being able to read about Dex’s mom and dad and maybe was able to get some insight on why they was killed. I also enjoyed being able to read about how some of the thirds couples met, first dates, thanksgiving and Christmas’s together and even times that was not the most pleasant if memories for some of them.

Charlie has an amazing way of capturing the readers attention and holding it till the very end of the book. She makes you want to read the next book in her serieses and making the reading wish the next book in a series will hurry up and come out. That is the mark of a true author and that is what Charlie is and has proved that with each book in the Thirds series. I am impatiently waiting for thirds book 7 to be out. I cannot wait to see what Charlie has in store for us all once again.

I will say that I absolutely adored these little insights to the characters outside of the novels. It was fun to read about special times in each person’s life in little snippets since they wouldn’t have fit into the normal books.
The only reason it isn’t a full five star rating to me was that I do enjoy the full stories where I can really sink into story and I couldn’t to that so much since each story was pretty short.
All in all, I really enjoyed the stories and can’t wait for more from Charlie Cochet.

I really liked the concept of this story.  I, however, have not read this series, so it was somewhat of a challenge to truly understand what was going on and what the fans were requesting.  However, despite that fact, I really liked how this book was laid out.

Cochet was able to almost bring me up to speed within these snippets.  I felt that I was getting to know the characters as I was reading these snapshots of the book.

The writing was great and getting to see “behind the scenes” of the scenes was so fun and a great way to intrigue me in to this story line.

This authors definitely gained a fan by writing these too – I wish more authors would do that.

This story is so tragically beautiful. Both of these men are broken and holding it together by a thin wire when they meet each other. Both had a very hard, tragic past where they both lost what they thought was the love of their lives in two very different ways.

Jamie is a military lifer or so he thought. I believe that everything Jamie has done in his life was to put him a step closer to being in Delta Forces. I truly feel that Jamie thinks the military is what he was meant to do but I have a second opinion to that. I think Jamie’s military career and all the lose and hardship that he went through was just to prepare him for what he is truly meant for which is to help those who have similar issues with PTSD like he does. He is not over his issues and never will be but he has learned to manage with it and I think that because of it he has learned to be able to help others except and learn to use coping mechanism to deal with it also. I also believe that he is meant to be with Chris. Like it says in the book, they do not complete each other but they do compliment one another with their different upbringings and backgrounds. They are the complete opposites of one another but they are perfect for one another.

Chris has been to hell and back also but instead of trying to continue to self medicate he has just shut himself off to truly living. That is until he meets Jamie and he realizes that he can love and be happy again. It takes him time to accept it but once he does he is all in.

Resurrection could not be a more fitting name to this book because after all these two men have went through it was as if they was both dead inside but once they came together they was resurrected from their self imposed deaths to grad ahold of life and each other for all it is worth. It is not always roses and happy endings for them but they have each other to lean on and to support one another and to love and that is truly all anyone could ask for.

This book as I stated early on is tragically beautiful and I hope many will read it and enjoy it also because I know I truly did.

This is my first book by this author and it was amazing yet tragic. The moment I began to read I felt that Jamie and Chris were meant for each other. I loved how the author wrote this in parts. The first part we got to see how Jamie and Chris met and fell in love. The second part was about Jamie working to get into Special Forces and his deployments and how Christ coped with those deployments. The third portion was when Jamie and Chris have to finally get a handle on their problems and hopefully they can come out on top. This author clearly did their homework because to write about PTSD and TBI you really must be able to make it believable. That was something that was accomplished in spades. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone, it was a great story but dealing with some difficult issues but were handle with care and upmost respect.

FOUR 5 Star Review for Blood and Thunder (THIRDS #2) by Charlie Cochet #MM #Military @charliecochet @dreamspinners

0.2

Title: Blood & Thunder (THIRDS #2)
Author Name & Publisher: Charlie Cochet (Dreamspinner Press)
Publication Date & Length: August 4, 2014 – 240 pgs

Synopsis

When a series of bombs go off in a Therian youth center, injuring members of THIRDS Team Destructive Delta, and causing a rift between agents Dexter J. Daley and Sloane Brodie, peace seems unattainable. Especially when a new and frightening group, the Order of Adrasteia, appears to always be a step ahead. With panic and intolerance spreading and streets becoming littered with the Order’s propaganda, hostility between Humans and Therians grows daily. Dex and Sloane, along with the rest of the team, are determined to take down the Order and restore peace, not to mention settle a personal score. But the deeper the team investigates the bombings, the more they believe there’s a more sinister motive than a desire to shed blood and spread chaos.

Discovering the frightful truth behind the Order’s intent forces Sloane to confront secrets from a past he thought he’d left behind for good, a past that could not only destroy him and his career, but also the reputation of the organization that made him all he is today. Now more than ever, Dex and Sloane need each other, and, along with trust, the strength of their bond will mean the difference between justice and all-out war.

I have to say this is a book that o could not put down. I started reading it this morning and finished it tonight. That should tell you something. Blood and Thunder picked up pretty much at the point that Hell & High Water ended. This book was full of action packed adventure. Of course you have your same characters in this book as book 1 did and Dex and Sloane do not let you down. Dex is his still funny, caring, loving, loyal self and Sloane is still trying to move on and get over losing Gabe. Sloane finally starts to realize that he has to make a choice to either let Dex into his life and open up to him about his past and his fears or he has to let him go.

Again Charlie Cochet nailed it with this book because you could feel the fear, the happiness, the loss, the pain and the love the characters feel in this book. You can picture exactly what is happening and you feel as if you are there.

I would recommend this book to readers in a heart beat.

I loved the first book in the THIRDS series, and this one lived up to my expectations. Charlie Cochet tells a story that is suspenseful and dramatic while it’s also funny and sexy.
In this second book of the series she does a great job of delving deeper into Sloane’s mysterious past and showing his struggle with moving forward – both for himself and for a potential relationship with Dex. I love how the alternating perspective between Sloane and Dex allows the reader to see everything from both sides. For me it makes all the aspects of the story richer and more meaningful.
Endings to books in a long series like this can be tricky. The author needs to strike a balance of a satisfying ending while also enticing the reader to keep reading. I think Charlie nails the ending here, and I’m excited for the next one.
All in all, the story and characters are revealed more and more, sucking the reader deeper into the scary, exhilarating, fun and crazy world of THIRDS.

Blood & Thunder picks up right where Hell & High Water ends, you really need to read the books in order to get the full gist of what is going on. While I still thought this book was wordy and too detailed at times, I am either getting used to the authors writing style or just too into the story now that it doesn’t bother me as much. I will have to say there was a scene or two that had me tearing up and my heart constricting. A few things were revealed right at the end of the first book now the mission isn’t just to stop the Order, it’s personal. The back and forth with Dex and Sloane is still going on, we all wonder how much more Dex can take without getting his heart broken. When members of the THIRDS get hurt we see a few glimpses into possible future relationships amongst team members, not that we all didn’t think they would eventually happen. Action packed and full of emotions, this was another good book and I am jumping into the third book today, I have to see what happens next!
Angie

This follow-up was better than the first, but only because the stage has been set, so you can just let loose all the laughter, ride the action, and enjoy the camaraderie with the team.

Even though the stage has been set, we still dig into the relationships being evolved. Dex and Sloane are smoking hot together. Although Dex is outgoing, humorous, smart, he is so patient with Sloane. We get to find out why Dex is obsessed with the 80s and it both breaks and melts your heart.

There is more action and nail biting scenes in this book than the first, more depth into the shifting and PTSC. Speaking of shifting, the scene with Dex and Sloane at training just cracked me up. I wondered what Sloane’s payback was for the song incident and well I found out and just couldn’t stop laughing.

Overall, this book has a good balance of hot action…ummm in the streets and in the sheets, laughter (karaoke night and the team’s banter with each other) and romance (I am really intrigued with Cael/Ash and Calvin/Hobbs).  On to the third pronto!

Author Name & Publisher: Charlie Cochet (Dreamspinner Press)

Synopsis

When homicide detective Dexter J. Daley’s testimony helps send his partner away for murder, the consequences—and the media frenzy—aren’t far behind. He soon finds himself sans boyfriend, sans friends, and, after an unpleasant encounter in a parking garage after the trial, he’s lucky he doesn’t find himself sans teeth. I just finished reading “Thirds – Hell & High Water book 1” by Charlie Cochet this morning. I have to say that I was blown away by this book. This is the first book I have read by Charlie Cochet and I have now found a new author that I will continue to follow and read books from. This book has everything a reader could ask for in it. There is heartache, love, distrust, acceptance, mystery, sadness, happiness, seriousness, and light heartedness. I fell in love with the characters of this book. First there is Dex…..Dex is one of those people that everyone loves and wants to be around. He is full of spunk. He views the world as a glass always full type of person. He is one of those people who wants to make everyone smile and laugh at times when stress could spiral Individuals into the darkness. But at the same time he knows when to be serious and is a person who you can depend on in any situation. He is the heart of the “Thirds” team. He brings a broken team back to life and starts healing their broken hearts. Then there is Sloane….Sloane is a broken hearted Thirds team leader who lost the love of his life Gabe, which also happened to be his partner on the Thirds team. With Sloane you can feel the hurt and pain rolling off of him in waves. He is also one of those individuals that you are rooting for to find a happy ending. Then there is the team itself….a bunch of misfits that make up the perfect partnership to fight for the rights of the humans and Therians.

Most would read the description of this book and think that it is a book about paranormals but is so NOT. This is a book that could become a reality in the future.

This book is a book that catches your attention from the first page and will not let you go until the very last page. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

I highly recommend this book. You will definitely enjoy the read.

I have owned this book since May of 2015 and never read it. I am kicking myself for not reading it as soon as I bought it! I normally don’t read books with shifters or paranormal aspects to them, they usually aren’t my cup of tea but everyone raved about this series so I thought I would give the first book a try. While I found the book to be really wordy and too detailed at times I really enjoyed Dex and his personality and his wit. I would love working with someone like that, makes the day go by, but I can see where at times it would get on your nerves. Sloane is the hot alpha jaguar who has secrets that we will hopefully find out about in future books. Dex and Sloane are made partners at THIRDS when Dex testifies against his partner and Sloane loses his partner when he is murdered. The secondary characters are wonderful as well. The banter and camaraderie between all the THIRDS members is great and made the story. I can’t wait to jump into the second book and see what happens next.
Angie

Well, wasn’t that just the strawberry on top of the cupcake. I absolutely loved it. Ok, I will confess, I am ashamed I hadn’t read this series yet, but after reading this one, I couldn’t stop and I binge read the whole series up to the current. So now, here I am, thinking about each one. I just can’t. This whole series is fanfreakingtastic, and must never be passed up.

Dex…..Dex, Dex, Dex. How can you not love Dex? I mean, sexy, bold, 80s lover, sugar lover, full of energy, quick witted and so full of humor, that if you don’t catch yourself from laughing out loud from him, something is terribly wrong with you. He is the perfect opposite of his new partner, Sloane. Dex may act like a man-child at times, but he is mature and not a child. We all have child like tendencies in ourselves. It is a shame that all of us cannot embrace it and rock it like Dex does. He is an adult and take responsibilities seriously, but he just has the lovable optimistic side of him.

Sloane is the broody, mysterious black panther Therian Team Leader. Tall, dark and sexy just doesn’t even cover it. He  has deep emotional pain, that makes you want to dive in, find out what it is and just hold him. But let’s leave that to Dex because he does it so well. The chemistry between these two becomes almost too hot from the first look on. These two were fun both in and out of the sheets, and on and off the job.

The rest of the team of Destructive Delta was a perfect blend of everything. They were family. Something was wrong and when Dex showed up he saw it immediately. Dex was the perfect addition and what the team needed. The banter between everyone and Dex was funny. I loved Ash and Cael, then Calvin and Hobbs, the ladies,  and can’t forget the sarge, Tony.

Overall, this story had great build up, character development, some mystery, lots of humor and love, family and friendship through the roof. Besides we have Military + Shifters = Sexy Badass.

I have read quite a few of Jamie Lynn Millers book and have loved each of them but I have to be honest and say this has to be my favorite one so far.

This story was so realistic that it was easy to forget that it was just a fictional story and was more like reading about what happened in someone’s real life.

When I say it was realistic I really felt that Connor and Shawn having to go undercover for this mission to bring down Jae and his associates felt real. I could picture all of the things that Shawn went thru with this mission from having to do things he normally would never consider such as doing drugs to having to sleep with Jae even when it occurred in front of his true partner, Connor. I could also feel the pain that Shawn had to go through with withdrawals from the drugs to the pain he felt for doing all the things he had to do durning the mission that he was not proud of and how he felt like he was not strong or courageous even though in my eyes he was more so then most would have been in his situation.

Connor was a true rock through all of it. He was there for Shawn every step of the way and gave him strength when Shawn did not feel that he had any. Even with this being a mission and having to do the things that Shawn had to do, most men would hold that against their partner but Connor is not like that and never blamed or held it against Shawn for the things he had to do or endure through the whole process. Even when it ate at him having to watch Shawn out himself thru everything he still loves him and believed in him. And I believe that if it had not of been for Connor, Shawn would have let himself been swept away in everything that was happening. Connor was his strength and kept him fighting thru it all till the very end.

Jamie Lynn Miller did a superb job on this book and I have to say that this book is at the top of my list on my favorite books that I have read recently. I know that this book will stay with me for a while and I will not forget it any time soon. Amazing book and a must read.

This book was quite amazing despite it being a dark read. I don’t read these type of books on a regular basis but every once in a while the blurb catches my eye and I just have to read it. This was one of those.

This story was exceptional in its writing and in its plot. The author was able to make it a very convincing story and I couldn’t wait to read what came next. I can’t believe this is the first book I’ve read by this author. I immediate had a connection with Conner and Shawn and sometimes I cried for the situation Shawn was going through. Conner was clearly the rock that Shawn depends on and I was glad that Shawn had someone to hold and help him through the dark times. Jamie Lynn Miller was able to take this type of a story make it believable and most of all have an HEA in the end. This was an excellent book and would definitely recommend it.

~Lynn

ThreeStar

When two members of an international shadow agency are asked to go undercover to stop an arms deal, neither Shawn or Connor knows quite how far undercover they will need to go.

There has been a proliferation of dark ops books in the past few years and this one doesn’t necessarily stand out.   I like the idea of long-term life partners who complete dangerous missions together but there isn’t enough character development here for me to really attach to either man. There are a few more women in this story than most, but they are still in supporting roles.

The storyline is more unusual, but the rape and heroin scenes felt more than a little melodramatic and sensationalist.

Ultimately, this is a simple, easy action read.  I didn’t hate it, but it is already blurring into hundreds of very similar dark ops stories for me.

I loved this book, it was so hot and the chemistry was so good between Clay and Logan. Both are on the SWAT team, Logan has been a Dom for a long time, Clay has never been in the Dom/sub lifestyle but seems to submit so easily for Logan. There is a little angst and some drama but the story is good and the love story is even better. Highly recommend, and I can’t wait to read more.

ThreeStar

This is my first book by this author and I was a little disappointed. I had very high hopes for this book as I love military/cops and BDSM. The book started off on a very positive note then about 25% into the book everything just seem to go flat. The sex in the book was great but sex isn’t everything, the book needs a strong plot when it is a full length novel and sad to say this one just didn’t have that. I really liked both Logan and Clay and really wanted the story to go well for them. The author seems to automatically have a new sub know exactly what to do. I like a little of realism in my books and it was unreasonable for anyone to immediately know what to do in BDSM. There should have been questions and answers not just immediate acceptance. I certainly hope the next book redeems itself or I’m sorry to say I can’t see myself reading any more books by this author.

Once in a while, you come across a book that speaks to you on so many levels that you can’t rate it high enough. This book did that for me. I fell in love with the world. I fell in love with the characters. And I fell in love with the events and the way all those involved met those events head on and triumphed, whether they survived or not. Admittedly, I am a sci-fi geek, so yes, this book seems to be written for me. If sci-fi isn’t your thing, you’ll probably still like the book, because it’s that good, but you may not l-o-v-e the book like I do. And that’s a shame. Because everybody should love this book. I can’t say enough good things about it. I love the fact that we’re reading about an alien invasion from a viewpoint where we’re the aliens. I love the society DeLancey has built. I felt bad for Lancer Tal at the end of the book – she remains alone and you feel that isolation. I see that may change in the second book of the series, but part of me is afraid to read it. This was such a great book, and if the sequels don’t live up to the first, I’ll be so disappointed. But I will end up reading them, because Lancer Tal made me love her, and I need to read more of her story. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. I loved it. Did I say love enough? Loved it.

What a brilliantly and well written novel this was. Technical enough to be realistically based in the future but understandable for us mere mortals here on earth.
I felt there were almost two stories in one, the actual story regarding the invasion and the other the mission to seek and to find evidence. The two ran beautifully alongside each other brought together by the growing attraction of two of the main characters.
The author carefully wove a tale reflecting many similarities between the way future cultures and planets treated each other and the way we perceive and deal with different countries and cultures now. A very clever interpretation and observation.
An accomplished novel by a talented author and authority based on scientific fact and believable futuristic lives, surroundings and situations. I certainly look forward to future novels based on this one.
Chris

FourandHalfStarsThis book was everything I hoped/expected it to be and more! I was hooked early on by the description and scenarios and couldn’t stop reading it. The characters were engaging and made me cross my fingers hoping things would work out in their favor. This left me torn several times throughout the story as it seemed having things work out for one might be detrimental to another.

The connection between the main character and the object of her affection was intense and beautiful and I was rooting for them from the beginning. Through twists, turns, fights, make-ups and a little back-stabbing I had my fingers crossed for them. The friendships were just as intense and the connection of the Captain with her crew was a lovely thing and I truly felt they were like family.

The dialog was well written and moved the story along smoothly, even when shouting matches broke out. The twists had me biting my nails (literally!) and worrying everything was about to go belly up for the Captain several times. Well formatted and beautifully executed I can’t wait for the next in this engaging series!
