5 Star, 4 Star and 3 Star Reviews for Love’s Changes by LaQuette #MM #Romance @laquettelikes

CoverTitle: Love’s Changes
Author Name & Publisher: LaQuette (Carnal Embrace Romance Publishing)
Publication Date & Length: June 3, 2016 – 75 pgs

Synopsis

**This is an erotic novella featuring graphic and explicit language and sexual content between consenting adult men in a loving relationship. Reader discretion is advised.**

A near-fatal shot through his chest teaches Lieutenant Bryan Smyth of the NYPD two things: He wants to live to see more days and he wants to spend them with his estranged husband, Justice.

Poor decisions made under the strain of grief split the seams of their marriage. Now it’s up to Bryan to show Justice there’s still enough of their love left to salvage from the ruins, still something worth the battle ahead.

Bryan’s shooting has opened Justice’s eyes to new lessons too. The first, tomorrow isn’t promised, the second, life’s too short to live in misery. Justice has watched Bryan shuffle back and forth attempting to balance the man he is at home and the man he has to be at the precinct for too long. Now, he’s done. The only problem is, Justice’s heart is having a hard time adhering to the exit strategy in his head.

Desperate to repair their bond, Bryan does the only thing he can to keep his marriage intact, he calls his crazy sister-in-law, True to stir up some organized chaos. She’s a wildcard, yes. As unstable and deadly as nitroglycerin, but she gets the one thing Bryan needs more than anything, results.

The only question left: Is family and fidelity enough to get them through love’s changes, or is this really the end?

**This book is a spin off from the Queens of Kings series featuring Bryan Smyth and Justice Amare. Although related to the Queens of Kings world, you do not need to read that series to understand this one.**

I fell in love with both Bryan and Justice. These two men are both so strong, have strong jobs( one a marine the other a cop and former marine) but they lack one thing in their relationship…. Communication.

These two men have experienced so much hurt in the past in their relationship when they lost their daughter. It affected each men differently and instead of turning to one another they handled their grief differently.

Because of their lack of communication their marriage is on the rocks and it may not be able to be fixed especially since Justice has decided it was time to file for a divorce and put an end to their pain, heartache, and hurt from one another.

This book is a perfect example of what the lack of communication and thinking what the other feels instead of actually talking about it can end up ruining a perfectly happy marriage. It is an example that no matter how long u have been together that no one is a mind reader and we can all misunderstand what the other is thinks no or feeling if we do talk to one another.

This was only a short story but it was very powerful with a lot of emotions flowing through it that me as a reader was able to feel. Hoping their will be more of these two in a longer book in the future cause they are definitely worthy of more.

Great book and look forward to reading more by Laquette in the future.

This was a sweet story, however, I felt that this was only the beginning of their story.  Most of this was about their background, how they came to where they are presently in their life, their relationship and how they see themselves.

This was a very quick read, with a lot of information in it.  The reader has to quickly understand what’s going on, because LaQuette’s story is fast paced.

I wish that there had been more – I felt that this was an unfinished story and one that LaQuette could have drawn a great conclusion with, but chose not to.  I am hoping that there will be more to follow, but at the same time, hope that it is not drawn out in to 3 or 4 more books, because that would just be very annoying.

Overall though, this was sweet and a great start to what could be a great story.

AvidReader

ThreeStar

If this book would have been longer I think it would have been better. Bryan was shot in the line of duty and realized that he wants to stay with his estranged husband Justice. Justice has wanted to be with Bryan the whole time, while Bryan didn’t but has now decided enough is enough. This was basically just a book with the two of them fighting back and forth on if they should stay together or not and then Justice’s family intervenes and helps them to find out what is best for them both. If we would have gotten more of the back story BEFORE the shooting and not just bits and pieces I think it would have been much better.

**Audiobook Review**

I have to say I really enjoyed this double feature. The first book (Desert Heat) gave us the story of how the two men meet and get to know each other and the start of their relationship. It could’ve ended there with a Happy For Now ending. But I really liked that we got the continuation of the story (Native Tongue) and got to see the two men further their relationship as it leaves the military and enters normal day to day life.

The story had a lovely plot and a few super sexy parts. I love the way Lucy Felthouse writes her stories. They are so easy to sink into and fall in love with.

The narrator did a great job adding to the story and making it even more interesting than the written story would’ve been.

This was a story that I enjoyed a lot.  This was more of a discovery story.  You have Christian who is just learning what he needs and wants and then you have Peter, the established Dom in the relationship.

They have great chemistry and Peter is ever patient with Christian’s struggle both internal and external.

It’s a quick read, but one that packs a lot in to the short number of pages.  You get to see the relationship go from friendship to lovers, but it’s not necessarily rushed and most definitely not an insta-love story.

Overall, this was a great short story about finding out what you need and want and not being afraid of going for it.

I haven’t read the previous stories but now that I have read this book I will be going back and reading them. I loved this book. It did move a little fast and there were some things that were left out that I would have liked to know, like the internet conversations between Peter and Christian. All that aside this was fast paced and H.O.T. Yes Christian was hesitant and Peter was a little bit pushy but I think it worked for this couple and I simply loved them. I can’t wait to go back and read how they are currently as a couple.

This was a really good BDSM story by an author I love. This is the first book in this series that I’ve read and I feel it can be read as a standalone. Sean Michael is an author that gives me my BDSM story but it is clearly entertaining. I would put this book in line with his Hammer Series; it was fun and loving type of story. I immediately had a connection with Christian (l love my military men) and quickly came to love Peter as well. These characters clearly had a connection to each other that fulfilled both of their needs. As I’ve read many books by this author I can definitely say that there is emotion, yet tenderness in the story as well as a lot of really hot sex. If you like BDSM stories then I would highly recommend reading this book.

Wow…..what more can I say. Thirds just keeps getting better and better.

With each book more and more comes to light. The people you think are good are really bad and the people you think are bad are really good. You never really know who to trust until the very end.

This book is primarily based around Cael and Ash. These are two people you would think would make an unlikely pair. They are so opposite that it is not even funny.

Ash is this brash, out spoken, no non sense, hard a&&. Where Cael is sweet, trusting, open hearted person. These two actually balance each other nicely and make the perfect couple. But even with the perfect couple they still have hardships, trust issues, and past heart ache they have to overcome to find their balance.

Of Dex and Sloane are in this book and constantly becoming a stronger, more solid couple that are always going to be my favorites. I love seeing their relationship bloom.

As always the thirds agents are out to protect and serve and face all the troubles head own as a united team. This book is no exception.

Another win for Charlie and I have a feeling the best is still to come.

The THIRDS saga is still going strong with this one told mostly from the perspectives of Ash and Cael.

It’s a refreshing change to see things from the new perspectives. And it’s nice to get to get caught up in a new romance even while in the midst of a longer series.

In the previous stories I was able to predict the outcome of the mysteries fairly early on (to some degree at least). This is the first one that really had me guessing, and I loved not being able to guess at what was coming.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys not only a great M/M Romance story but also a strong genre plot (Paranormal, Urban Fantasy, Shapeshifters, Mystery and Crime).

Awe, I am so happy these two FINALLY got their stuff together!!!! I just love this series and can’t get enough of it! Ash has good reasons for being scared but he knows that if he keeps his crap up that he will lose the best thing ever, Cael. Dex and Sloane weren’t the main characters this time and I found that refreshing, we still see them and the rest of the team but it was nice to get to have the full focus on Ash and Cael. I also love how Ash and Dex seem to sort of get a long now….I mean they do but they don’t, Ash will still give Dex grief but he is there when Dex needs him and that just makes you fall more in love with Ash once you find out all the back story. I can’t wait to read the next book to see what happens, I am addicted!

FourandHalfStars

Well this was a whole different type of read than the previous 4. That may be expected as it is with a different couple and that means different personalities. Not everyone can be Dex and Sloane. Even with that said, this was only maybe a 4.5 read. We have always been in Dex and Sloane’s pocket so we never knew how Ash and Cael spent their own time together and now we do. Be prepared to go visit the dentist afterwards though. This one was more of a sweet romance with a few action scenes sprinkled throughout verse being balanced or heavy on the action side or smexy side.
This one starts off where the prior stopped and that was Tony pulling Ash and Sloane in to have the “dad talk” with his Old Betsy. I loved how Tony was daddy protective of Cael, but he had respect for Ash. I think Tony was able to see Ash’s caring side toward Cael from day one and we know Ash is protective of Cael. I think Tony just needed to nudge Ash in the right direction to start seeing it himself.
I loved the holiday scenes. We get to see all sorts of sides from the Maddox/Daley family. I enjoyed getting to know Tony more. He is such a strong, supportive, loving and funny man. I wish I could have had a father like him. It was good to see a different side of Ash. The big bad lion can never always be the tough guy. He does have a heart and we get to see it. It was just painful to see him wrestle with his heart and realize the multiple uses for it. Cael was amazing in how he is so patient waiting for Ash, knowing Ash is the man for him. But, Cael is his own man too, and he needs to do things for himself.
It was a fun field trip to get to see other characters through new POVs. I think this will help balance the book so it’s not always Dex and Sloane. I love all the characters and expect to have different feels while reading their own stories. I must say, Sparks, she is one tough cookie and definitely do not want to run into her in a dark ally. Austen has sunk his claws in my heart and I am hoping we get a story for him.
It always amazes me how authors can write a character that you are not a fan of in the beginning (Ash) but then find yourself rooting for them. I am hoping with Hobbs story next, Rafe will be able to thaw the frozen shield of emotions for him. I have a feeling something big is/has brewing/brewed with him which is why he is the way he is. But for now, I must toughen my shield around my heart for Calvin and Hobbs, I have a feeling tissues are going to be needed for Hobbs’ story.

I have to admit that this is probably one of my favorite Andrew Grey stories. I really enjoyed the backstory between the two characters and how they came together. Both have had their issues through the years and aren’t exactly the same men they were when separated as boys, but the chemistry is still there.
I liked that we got a few different genres sort of overlapping here. We have a wounded Marine who is dealing with not only the loss of his teammates, but the use of his legs as well. Then we have the firefighter that is jaded because of his youth and alcoholic father, who is now on the wagon.
The plot was fantastic and the characters were interesting to read about so I really have to say that I loved every part of this story, even if it was a bit of a stretch to think that someone would really take in someone they haven’t seen in so many years. Hey, it’s fiction and I can imagine people are actually that nice somewhere in the world.
Renee
FiveStars

This is such a wonderful read. I believe that this is a book about fate bringing back together two men that are soul mates and ment to be together through the hard times as well as the good times.

Morgan is a firefighter and the job is what he lives for. Because of his job he is able to reconnect with his best friend that he lost touch with when he was 13 years old and his father moved them away. I think that Morgan knows himself better then most people do. As soon as he rescues Richie and finds out who he is, Morgan knows that this is the man that he has always loved even at a young age and that Rochie is the only man he will ever live that way.

Richie is not the same man he was as a kid. He joined the marines and it changed his life forever and he ended up in a wheel chair. I think that Richie carries the weight of he world in his shoulders and because of that and the guilt of what happened while still in the marines he does no think that he is supposed to be loved or happy and I think that is why he is constantly fighting what is between him and Morgan.

This is not only a story about reconnecting with your souls mate, it is also a mystery because someone is targeting Richie and trying to kill him. The question is will they figure out who it is in time or will Richie lose his life before he figures out that he is good enough for Morgan.

I really enjoyed this book. It was full of ups and downs, excitement and fear, and love and forgiveness. It is a book about excepting things that cannot be changed and loving yourself for who u are. Andrew Grey did a great job on this book.

This is another winner from Andrew Grey. The character development was spot on and the plot was fantastic. In this book we meet Morgan and Richard. Richard is a disable vet and Morgan a HOT fireman. First let me say that I love reading stories about vets and disable vets hold a special place in my heart. I always love when they get their HEA. I loved how the book began and loved how it ended and the middle was just fantastic. I had an immediate connection with Richard and Morgan wasn’t far behind. Andrew Grey just has a way of immediately drawing you into the story that this book was no different. This book had quite a bit of drama but that is to be expected when writing about wounded vets, but most of all it was a very touching story and had enough passion that I just wanted to keep reading.

This series just keeps getting better and better. I found myself wanting to cry at times, laughing out loud at some of the antics that go on, wanting to yell at the characters to “RUN” or “DONT GO IN THERE”. I did not that think that Charlie could make me love Dex and Sloane anymore then possible but it happened.

Throughout this series I continually find myself cheering for the good guys and hoping the bad guys do not win. This is one action packed book that you feel like you know what is going to happen then takes a complete turn and goes he opCharlie Cochet did it again. The author grabbed my attention from the first sentence in Thirds-Rack & Ruin. This book is once again a Home run for Charlie.

Dex, Sloane, Cael, Ash, and the rest of the Thirds team is back again working hard to take down the bad guys while trying to save as many lives as they can and staying safe in the process.

In this book we learn more about Ash and more about his past. Along the way I really started to question exactly what type of guy Ash really is and if he was the mole that everyone was trying to find.

Dex and Sloane still continue to work at their work relationship along with their personal relationship.

Through all the trails and tribulations each of the characters face, I cannot help but feel their pain, their frustration, their happiness, their wariness, and all the other emotions that Charlie has been able to pull off in a single book.

As I said in the beginning, I was hooked from the get go. It is hard to put down a book that you feel like you are apart of to do simple things like eat, sleep, clean, etc and this is definitely one of those books.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a book that has romance, action, mystery, and a well unfolded story line.

This story had it all! It starts exactly where Rack & Ruin ended and let me tell you…thank goodness because that ending, I mean…I don’t think my heart was able to take it if it started anywhere else. My heart was in complete turmoil.
The beginning… An explosion!!! It makes you and Dex crumble. As much as I love Dex’s humor, we get see to see his soft, teddy bear, loving side. We also get a few uh-oh moments, holding your breath with Tony.
The middle… More couple development with Ash/Cael and Calvin/Hobbes with their emotions and possessiveness starting to show. More humor from Dex. More insights to the emotional side of the Therians which was needed, to really understand the difference of humans verse the shifters. Of course, hot and steamy sex from Dex and Sloane and oh my, my, my. Sloane is very much more hot being protective and alpha. The claiming? Holy hotness!!!
The ending… Tony is such a crack up. He is being a true dad to his two boys, or shall I say to the intended love of his two boys. He brings Old Betsy out to play with Sloane and Ash. Cael and Dex are just too funny when Tony comes in. But Sloane is pretty much let off the hook for even attempting to truly love the crazy Dex. But Ash? Oh, poor lion. Lion meets big bad daddy with a bat of the man I love, and I would lose my voice as well. But Tony just cracks me up. Thank goodness I can go straight into Against the Grain to find out how that conversation goes.
This story just keeps you going with action, humor and smexy times. It is a fabulous story to set up the reader for Cael & Ash and Calvin & Hobbs.

This book picks up right where Rack & Ruin left off. When Sloane is almost killed Dex decides to take things into his own hands. There is so much in this book, you have the recovery of Sloane, Dex lying to Sloane, and Sloane knowing that Dex is lying. A team working together, because they are family and will do anything for each other, action, tension and lastly, love. Each book gets better and better and I fall in love more and more with Dex and Sloane and all the others on the team. I can’t wait to jump into the next book to see what happens next. I seriously hope that Ash and Cael get their stuff together, I wanna see them happy!!!

Just when I was starting to think that this series wouldn’t have any more surprises, this book comes along. I will freely admit there were moments of tears as well as laugh-out-loud moments. Charlie Cochet once again pulls out all the stops with this great THIRDS adventure.
Although heartbreaking at times, it’s really interesting to see Dex’s detective side come out. His struggles are shown in a very real and relatable way. This story also delves deeper into the mysteries of the Therians and more specifics about the human-animal dynamic, which I find fascinating.
It’s great to see the core cast of characters grow as Lou and Austen take on more important roles in this book. I hope to see more of them as the story continues.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys not only a great M/M Romance story but also a strong genre plot (Paranormal, Urban Fantasy, Shapeshifters, Mystery and Crime).

This is a great continuation of the THIRDS story. This series continues to be highly entertaining, interesting, and exciting on multiple levels.
In Rack and Ruin there is a lot more conflict inside the THIRDS team. It’s interesting to see how they manage to hold it together enough to get the job done as the interpersonal issues come up. I love getting to know Ash more in this and having him more humanized. (Therianized?) Ash becomes a real character instead of being simply Dex’s adversary. In general, Charlie Cochet continues to do a great job creating complex and lovable characters.
I have one suggestion for potential readers. This book ends on a cliff hanger. If you already love this series and expect that you’ll be moving on to the third (Rise and Fall), you might want to have it on hand to be able to jump right into it.

This is the third book in the series, which you should read in order. I must say this is my favorite so far. As always Dex keeps you laughing and on your toes with his feistiness. Sloane is becoming so much more affectionate with Dex and it just makes my heart melt. The book has its fair share of action and we learn more about Ash and why he is a jerk and when we find out, well, you can’t help but understand. I will say I shed a tear while reading some parts of this book as well. This one does leave the reader hanging at the end, so I can’t wait to jump into book four!

This series has not stopped in the wow factor. We continue getting to see Dex and Sloane progress into the solid sexy couple that we all know they are.

In this story, we get more character development about the characters, and how they interact with each other and their pasts. Sloane and Ash’s discussions about them growing up, ugh….tears.  I am much more looking forward to Calvin/Hobbs and Cael/Ash. Oh, Ash, you are going to be a heart breaker when your story comes.

There is more of Sloane licking and rubbing Dex (I think Dex secretly loves it.). There is more sexy times, and boy, can these two light up the pages. They can also be sweet and real, and their deep discussions make you want to love them more.  Dex continues to be the funny man with what come out of his mouth….and let’s just say, the Dex and Ash stand-off about Dex’s pre-birthday party party….oh yeah, Dex better just run from Ash.

The continued story line of why there are THIRDS, keeps you balanced so this isn’t just a love story. There were intense moments that kept you on your seat, especially the ending. I mean, that was the mother of all cliffhangers….I couldn’t decide if I wanted to throw my kindle or be thankful enough that I had #4 (Rise & Fall) ready to go. Yeah, I had to read the first chapter of that one before writing the review, because damn, my heart couldn’t take the suspense.

Overall, I am still enjoying this series, and everything about just gets better. There has not been any downtime or lull in the reading.
