Title: Flawed
Author Name & Publisher: Rachael Orman
Publication Date & Length: June 24, 2016 – 188 Pages

Synopsis

Julia is a domme for hire. Paid to spank and dominate men, she loves what she does during the summer months. However, she is also a submissive for her husband.

Garrison is content being married to Julia even though he is a bisexual. That is, until he realizes the man he has the hots for is interested in him. Too bad his job as a detective has him busy dealing with a serial murder case. Good thing, the sexy lawyer is also on the case and it gives him a reason to see him.

Keaton might be a shark in the courtroom, winning almost every single case he tries, but he is submissive in the bedroom. It’s hard to balance his work life with his private life and finding someone that can handle both aspects of his personality.

When they realize they all know each other and there is desire between the three of them, things get hot. But, can three really make a relationship instead of two?

The serial murderer isn’t going to wait for them to figure out their situation. He is on the hunt for dommes and isn’t leaving much behind for the police to use to find him.

So many things to like in this book. The sex scenes were hot. H. O. T. The kink was good, integrated within the story, integral to the plot, but not overwhelming. The emotions of all three characters made the relationship between them all. No, they don’t expect everything to be roses all the time. They expect problems and issues, but they all have a desire to work through them. A realistic viewpoint. The serial killer case upped the tension and anticipation, knowing that something was going to happen. I would say, though, that it was difficult swinging between the two extremes of the plot. The romance/erotica/relationship story had such a different feel from the police procedural/murder mystery/cop thriller, and sometimes the transition between the two was difficult to traverse. Both storylines were good, both kept my attention, but they evoked very different reactions, and I’m not sure those went together as well. Also, there was a lot of foreshadowing, enough that I felt confident in who the perp was, and how things would come to a head. That didn’t lessen my enjoyment at all. I liked the emphasis on the feelings of Julia, Garrison, and Keaton, and how they all worked through honest communication to get to a place where everybody was happy with the relationship. All in all, this was a very enjoyable read.

What did I just read? Brilliance is what that was! Plus look at that cover…oh freaking my, sexy, sexy. This story had a little bit of everything that crosses of the must have list. It had the suspense, it had the D/s, it had the love and emotions. It didn’t have that insta-love and fairytales, which for me is all the better. Garrison and Julia have amazing marriage and understand, trust, respect each other to help the other with what they need in life. The characters had to work for the relationship, yet the relationship felt real not forced or fake. I liked that Julia and Garrison knew Keaton in their own unique ways. It helps to show that the deep connection that was there and why the emotions bloomed so well. They felt real with real issues and fears, like they were your neighbors. Garrison and Julia may have been a strong couple, but with the addition of Keaton, the three are a powerhouse throuple and so dang sexy too, mmhmm.
The flow was smooth; the storyline was coherent. I enjoyed having the 3 POVs, so I could get to know each one and I did. Garrison was my favorite, he cracked me up, yet his love for his wife to let her do what she needs is amazing. Once I started reading, I could not set this book down.

I love Orman books.  This one did not disappoint.  The characters are well developed and the story flows easily.
Julia, Garrison and Keaton are all living their lives – doing what they love and trying to figure out how to be happy.
I love that Julia is both Domme and sub.  I think that it gives her a unique experience and with her skills, she is able to fulfill many desires.  I also really like that she keeps her client’s secret, even from Garrison.  I think that it makes her situation throughout the story much more real.  When she is faced with a situation, she handles herself with grace and strength.
Then you have Garrison, who is working hard to figure out who is hurting Domme’s in his town.  Not only does he not really have a clue who is doing this, but he has to figure out his feelings for DA Keaton.  While he loves his wife, he also knows that he enjoys being with men too.  Julia knows and accepts this about him, so he just needs to figure out if Keaton should be with them as a couple, him alone or not at all.
Finally, you have Keaton.  I loved his character.  He was strong, brave and unafraid of what he desires.  He knows that his lifestyle could put him in the hot seat, so he’s thankful that he found someone who will keep his secret.  When he figures out how everything is connected, he has to make the decision to leap and hope that nothing bad will happen.
The three of them have OK chemistry, but I do wish that we would have seen them more on a one and one basis.  I felt like we heard all about their relationship, but didn’t really get to see it develop.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story.  It had great chemistry and the mystery was intriguing.

Rachael Orman you completely and totally blew me away. I have not read any of Rachael Orman’s previous books but I can guarantee you that I will be doing so now. This is a book that is full of lust, respect, dommes, submissives, dominates, love, cravings, mystery, murder, BDSM, and so much more. What more can a girl ask for? Oh yeah I know, male/male/female relations. But guess what, it has that too.

This is one of those books that when you start reading it sucks you in immediately and does not let go till the very end and even then you are left wishing you had not finished the book yet because you want more. It is one of those books that even when it ismidnight you do not want to put the book down because you have to know what is going to happen next.

Garrison and Julia are happily married and if push came to shove, they are not missing anything in their relationship. They are truly a couple that most would love to base their own relationship off of but Julia is submissive to Garrison but is a Domme to others in her part time line of work. Garrison is also bisexual but they have never let those two things come between them. I honestly do not think that they ever would have either. But both of them being attracted to Keaton was a plus in their marriage because both was able to get to explore parts of themselves that they normally would not have.

In my opinion, it was inevitable for the three of these people to end up together. They each complimented one another in ways that made them all better people and happier in their lives. It is as if in my opinion, that they are made for one another. The three of them together is better all together then they ever could be apart.

With the murders happening around them, it throws an extra spin into the book that made it even more captivating. I really enjoyed reading this book so much and I cannot wait to read more books by Rachael Orman. She is a spectacular author and this book is proof of that. Amazing job!!!!

ThreeandHalfStars

This story was more of a feel good YA romance than a true adult story.  There was a light story and the scenes were steamy, however, I didn’t really feel that there was a story.

It was a rough mish-mash of emotions and the characters were mostly thinking with lust instead of what a relationship would truly be like.

I normally love Tortuga stories, but this one – the sex was a distraction because that was all they did.  There was no meaningful conversation about how this might work, or whether or not they wanted it to work.  There was a half-hearted attempt at conflict and even though I really disliked the female “buckle bunny”, she was just a minor detail for me.

Overall, this was not my favorite story and that makes me sad to say.

New Release: The Sarran Senator (The Sarrans #4) by A. C. Katt #MFM #bisexual #Fantasy #sciencefiction

Title: The Sarran Senator (The Sarrans #4)
Author Name & Publisher: A. C. Katt (JMS Books)
Publication Date & Length: March 27, 2016 — 250 pages

Synopsis

The Sarrans return home from Earth in triumph, having gained many new Earthen fems, coffee, chocolate, and cats.

Senator Samuel Johnson joins his grandson Michael, his daughter Sara, and her WarriorPair on Sarran. To his delighted surprise, he bonds irrevocably with Tarin, one of Sarran’s top engineers. Tarin had been bonded before and thought he would never experience a bond again, yet Sam’s love gives him a new lease on life. Now they only hope the Goddess has a fem for them.

Then the Sarran Elders host a mixer for Sarran warriors to meet the Earthen fems. Margaret Mary O’Neil, Meg to her friends, is a talented woman who fled to Sarran like so many Earth women looking for a new life. When she meets Sam and Tarin, her life changes forever.

But while things are looking up for the Sarrans, with new babies being born and WarriorPairs settling down, their enemy the Zyptz are relentless in their efforts to wipe them out. When the Zyptz attack both Sarran and Earth, the mutual dependence between the two becomes ever more evident.

Excerpt

::We will need to get our promise rings and Asta glasses, but we can decide where to live and get our rings and glasses later. Right now I want you under me.:: Tarin pushed Sam’s shoulders down into the softness of the couch pillows. Sam turned on his side so they faced each other.

::I foolishly didn’t bother to ask, although I should have consulted Mark, but now that I’ve taken the vial, does my equipment work the same way?::

::Yes and no. Externally you will see the slick that pours from under your foreskin. This enables one of us to penetrate the other and our fem without pain when we bond. Internally, there will be a type of a tube, a Secondary Sperm Valve that connects your channel to the seminal vesicle in your partner. When a Sarran Warrior receives sperm from his bonded, it opens the valve. The sperm goes through the valve to connect to the seminal vesicle where they mix with the sperm of your bonded. It is only when they mix that we can impregnate our fem. Our offspring are born with half of our fem’s DNA and one-quarter of each of ours. After we form the bond with our fem, we may make penetrative love with her or without her, as the Triad chooses.::

::I feel foolish asking for such basic information. I had the whole voyage to research this aspect of Sarran physiology. I was concentrating on helping Michael adjust to Sara’s Warriors.::

::You did the right thing, my fox. From the holos you showed me, Michael had reason to be wary.::

::Now I feel like a pre-pubescent offspring in health class, not knowing how my body is supposed to function.:: Sam blushed. ::How do I please you?::

::All the ways you’d please yourself without penetration. Let me show you.:: Tarin sat up, got off the couch, and knelt in front of Sam, removing the boots Mark and Juraens had fabricated for him on board the Brightstar. Tarin kissed the inside of Sam’s knee. Sam moaned. He never knew he had a hot spot there.

Tarin removed his own boots and then attacked Sam’s flightsuit. The one-piece garment came off quickly, giving Tarin access to Sam’s body.

Sam looked at his lover in appreciation. “You have a beautiful, hard form. I love your wavy blonde hair and blue eyes. You are everything I ever looked for in a man. If I had met you before Mary, I doubt I would have joined the army. I’d have become a college professor and lived in a house very much like this with you always at my side.”

Sam ran his palm down Tarin’s side from his shoulder to the curve of his ass. “Beautiful … I can’t believe how lucky I am and it seems even our dreams are in alignment.”

Tarin blushed. ::I keep in shape because any Sarran Warrior can be called to battle at any time. You were in governance, how did you train? You have a hard and well-made body, my fox.::

::In the Senate Gym. I exercised and had a trainer. If I were going to be the President, I had to be in the best shape I’d ever been in my life. The job is debilitating. Although the United States is only one country on Earth, the President of the United States carries the weight of the world on his shoulders because we act as the planet’s police and are the only major power left on Earth. Russia and China have the land mass and China has population, but the United States still has the upper hand in weaponry. We, like the Sarrans, also have fierce Warriors.::

::Being on council is much the same as you describe the presidency. The Elders aged quickly during the war and later when the Zyptz took our fems, the Elders bore the brunt of finding a solution. Our population is dangerously low, a mere twenty-thousand WarriorPairs. If you add the unbonded Warriors and offspring, it is another ten thousand. We need all of these bebes our fems are carrying and we must keep them safe.::

::You have too much open land to police properly. What you need is a type of radar that lets the government know immediately if the atmosphere has been breached, or better still, something that shields the planet from all but our own vessels.::

“I’ve been working on that project with Bron. It’s almost ready.”

Sam was about to speak and Tarin put a finger on his lips. ::My fox, I want to know everything about you. We could talk until dawntine but right now, I want to love you. We’re naked and wanting. Can we make love?::

Sam smiled and kissed his bonded’s eyes. “I was counting on it.”

With too many relationships ending in heartache under her belt, the new and improved Symone Adams is loud, proud and on the prowl. She has removed the heart she’s normally worn on her sleeve and tucked it safely under lock and key. What she wants now is to explore the appeal of meaningless, mind-blowing sex. After six months of self-imposed celibacy hell, she heads to Menjo’s and directly into the path of two very determined players.

Zander and Marco are pros when it comes to seduction, yet each has grown bored with their conquests. When these two strangers set their sights on the same stunning beauty, the competition is on. Both embark on a full balls-to-the-wall effort to win not only Symone’s body, but her heart as well.

What none of them can predict, though, is where their chance encounter will take them, especially Marco and Zander. While the men focus on winning Symone, it’s the electricity arcing in the air between them that will be the real challenge.

Marco, Zander and Symone are quite the trio.  This book, I felt, was much more about Symone figuring out exactly who she was and less about the two gentlemen.  Yes, they figured some things out too, but it was more about Symone.

That being said, I thought that this was just an OK story.  The writing was sound, the story line was ongoing and not slow, but the characters just didn’t really gel for me.  It was not as smooth as I’ve come to expect Peterson’s writing.

The chemistry was very nice between all three characters, but felt underdeveloped.  Then you have the different background for each character, which were touched on, but really, this didn’t have the depth of character development that I have grown accustomed to.

Overall, a nice read, but not one that was overly great.  It did have toe tingling, heat sizzling sex, but while I like those things, it just felt a little one dimensional.

I wasn’t wowed by this piece at all; however, it was still a decent read. This book came to me as labeled steampunk and polyamorous, both of which I would say this story is not, so that might have put me off a bit. The only bisexual characters are Nathanial and Devin, while Amanda/Mandy remains very clearly straight. This is a ménage piece, and there is definitely a difference between ménage and poly.

The story itself was interesting. I did love Amanda, at least for most of the story. However, I find in ménage pieces that the woman often becomes “the weakest link” and the one who breaks down what’s going on. I had hopes that this wouldn’t be the case in this story because her character was so well-built and tough and no-nonsense. However, it still happened, and that disappointed me.

I also felt this story was divided between the action/plot of what was going on and the romance. There wasn’t an even blend of the two happening at once. The plot was wrapped up very quickly, and we were left with the romance that wasn’t romance (I wish there had been more sexual tension throughout the piece).

For a western, this was a great read. Reminded me of shows I watched growing up as a kid. For a romance, I was disappointed (I only add this because the author specific says he enjoys romance over violence in stories). For steampunk, it was non-existent. For polyamorous, it was the same. I was looking for a poly story, one that represented an underrepresented aspect of the rainbow (which is what I tend to like to read), and I did not find it.

Title: The Mistress and Her Men
Author Name & Publisher: Minerva Howe (AKA Julia Talbot) – Samhain Publishing
Publication Date & Length: October 27, 2015 – 125 pages

Synopsis

The path to love isn’t always a straight line. Sometimes it’s a triangle.

When Simon realizes his dearest friend is in real trouble with gambling, whoring and daredeviling, he hits on the perfect solution: provide Matthias with an outlet for his self-destructive urges. While Simon would be more than willing to take on the task himself, Matthias has always fought their “unnatural” attraction.

As London’s Mistress of Discipline, Felice Grey wears her independent and scandalous reputation with confidence. She’ll take on Matthias for one night as a favor to Simon—even break her own rules to let Simon watch. She never expected that Matthias’s struggle against his feelings for Simon would touch her heart, or that she’d feel drawn to both men. Especially since Simon’s dominant nature makes it unlikely he’ll bend to her will.

Simon, barely surviving the night’s session, withdraws to his country estate in hopes that his two favorite people will find each other. Felice and Matthias must make a decision—let happiness fall by the wayside, or pursue it—and damn the risk.

Excerpt

London 1779 Simon sat in the depths of a smoky gambling hell, his cravat undone, his coat tossed carelessly across a stool near his feet. He knew he presented the very portrait of a debauched noble gambling his night away. That was precisely what he wanted, because he was in the gaming hell as a spy tonight, rather than a full participant.

Tonight he was watching his dear friend Matthias wager away every bit of good fortune the man had ever possessed. Indeed, Simon saw a note that no doubt represented every bit of Matthias’s remaining land in the pile of loot at the center of his table. What Simon really wished to do was to go over to that table and wipe it clean with his arm, dramatically saving Matthias from himself. He knew, however, that his friend would not thank him for it, so instead he would wait until a destitute Matthias left to drown his sorrows in whatever drink he might yet afford. Then he would buy all of those notes back from the winners, whether they wished to sell or not. A roar from Matthias brought Simon’s attention back from his thoughts. Matthias’s gaming table spilled over, notes and coins flying.

“You’re a damned cheat,” Matthias shouted, and in finally seeing Matthias’s opponent’s face, Simon could not but agree. Lord Chalmsley was, indeed, a terrible cheat. He was also armed with a dagger in his sleeve, which snicked into place against Matthias’s breastbone in less than a heartbeat.

“How dare you, sir?” Chalmsley said calmly. “I have beaten you over and over this evening because of your lack of skill, not chicanery.”

“That’s a load of shite.” Matthias pressed against the blade until a red spot appeared on his lawn shirt. “Had you nothing to hide you would not conceal a weapon and use it so readily.”

Chalmsley backed away slowly. “I only protect myself, you insolent bastard.”

“Ah, but I am no more a bastard than you are,” Matthias stated. “Fight me fairly.”

“I did. With the cards.” With a flourish of his blade, Chalmsley bent to pick up the notes before stuffing them into his coat. “Good night, all.” Matthias lunged, only to be held back by a few acquaintances. Not an easy task, considering his stature, his heavy muscles. Simon watched him thusly restrained, and the kernel of an idea took hold in his mind. The image of that bright spot of blood crystalized in Simon’s thoughts.

Good God, his friend had a death wish. Yes, Matthias had a need to castigate himself. To punish himself for his perceived failures in life. How many times had Simon seen Matthias throw the first punch or toss a note in someone’s face? How many times had the man courted danger to his person simply because he didn’t think he was worthy of his life? He wondered why it had taken him so long to realize that he knew of a solution. Oh, God help him, he might just be able to save Matthias from another night such as this, from giving away his land and his life to fulfill some sort of fatalistic desire.

Matthias needed to explore this need for violence, for self-punishment, in a safe place. Would that Simon could become that place, but he knew Matthias would never accept such games from a man, let alone one he considered a close friend. There was someone, though, someone who would give Matthias what he needed.

Simon stood, assuming his jacket before he left the room so that Matthias never saw him. He dropped his own blade into his hand when he approached Chalmsley from behind, then pressed the dagger to the man’s ribs. “I’ll take those notes, my lord,” he said, smiling when Chalmsley stiffened. “I would have bought them, but I do abhor a cheat.”

Review

ThreeandHalfStars

This book didn’t disappoint in what I expected, but it also didn’t wow me. The relationship between the three characters was intense and realistic; we get to see the point of view from all three of them. I felt as though the plot didn’t have good pacing. The beginning was interesting, and then right around 25% in everything slowed down and dragged until about 60% in where it picked back up again.

This story didn’t wow me like I thought it would. With a combination of ménage and BDSM perhaps my hopes were to high for it. There were inconsistencies in the writing, continuity errors that were mirror not a big deal, but they bothered me while reading. That along with the constant repetition of Simon’s eye color (which changed in metaphor rarely) dragged the reading down.

I liked the end result with the relationship (which I’m really trying to explain without spoiling). The equality that forms from their relationship is natural and very well-balanced.

Note: This contains content that may be triggering for some people (depression, talk of suicide, animal death, and a non-graphic scene of suicide attempt).

This was very definitely not at all what I was expecting. Normally, if I see a book tagged as MMF, I assume it’s probably going to have erotic content, which maybe says a lot about how I’m obviously stereotyping. This story had absolutely no erotic content, and I found it honestly refreshing to read.

Despite the premise (angels protecting a woman from suicide), this was actually cute, sweet, and funny. I loved how the author used humor to open up frank talk about some very real things experienced by bisexual people and those who have mental health needs. Samantha is probably one of my favorite characters, and I could read a whole novel just about her.

Eli and Adam were very sweet, and I liked their chemistry. Since it wasn’t an erotic story, I was okay with the fairly quick pacing of how they all sort of fell for each other. It’s probably the idealist in me, but I found the whole thing heartwarming and like sharing a hug with friends. I know the story was complete, but I would really like to revisit their world. It seems like the three of them could have some terrific adventures ahead of them, maybe helping others like Samantha.

The only thing I wasn’t fond of was that I thought this could have used some tighter editing. Sometimes it felt more like a bit of info-dump, and occasionally it seemed like there were words missing or things were oddly phrased. The end felt a bit rushed and full of explanations that didn’t quite hold together for me.

That said, this is proof that even with a few jagged edges, a great story and characters can overcome a lot. So I’m still giving this a high rating, and I definitely hope to read more from Ms. Rabig.

ThreeandHalfStars

This story was short and sweet.  There was not much heat or chemistry, but if you’re looking for a YA romance, just starting out, then this is the story for you.
You have Eli and Adam who have been sent to help Sam.  In the beginning, you don’t quite know why they are there, only that they are there to help.  Once everything comes to light, you not only have what Sam is struggling with, but also what Eli is struggling with.
There is a sweetness to this story, but overall, this story is not even really a romance.  I don’t quite know what I would categorize it as, other than young adult.
Also, then you don’t get to see anything evolve.  The story just ends kind of abruptly.

4 and 3 Stars for The Stowaway (Journey of the Wyvern #1) by Jade Archer #MFM

Cover

Title: The Stowaway (Journey of the Wyvern #1)
Author Name & Publisher: Jade Archer (Pride Publishing)
Publication Date & Length: August 8, 2011 – 91 pgs

Synopsis

Can one small stowaway teach two hardened warriors a lesson in life and love?

Arek and Devlynn were once part of one of the most vicious gangs of pirates in the galaxy – The Fennrus Group. But when Arek’s little brother was killed trying to follow in Arek’s footsteps, Arek quit. He walked away. And Devlynn went with him – having been devoted to the man since they were children. Unfortunately, no one leaves the Fennrus Group. Not and lives to tell the tale anyway. Forced to lay low if they are to survive, Arek and Devlynn find themselves doing supply runs between the most isolated agricultural communities in the galaxy just to scrape by. Which is how they find themselves with one small, feisty stowaway.

Having recently turned twenty-three, Rachel is faced with what she considers the ultimate enslavement – arranged marriage to two brothers from the neighbouring farming settlement of Thebia 3. So, when she sees an opportunity to escape while waiting from her intended grooms at the local space port she seizes it with both hands. She wants freedom, adventure, the chance to visit every star in the night sky. What she gets is two stubborn, difficult, although admittedly gorgeous, ex-pirates with a temperamental space transport, a vicious past out to get them and little to no idea what to do with the feelings that simmer below the surface between them.

Life with Arek and Devlynn is certain to be an adventure, provided they all survive long enough to enjoy it and Rachel can work a little magic that is.

FourStars

Arek and Devlynn have been traveling for years together. They fled their home planet and have been trying to make it on their own.  Arek has had a loss of family, Devlynn wants to keep his feelings for Arek to himself.  They are doing a fairly good job of being friends and only friends until Rachel falls in to their lives.
Rachel is a spunky, holds no bar, tells it how it is woman who wants to see the world.
Together, they make a lusty, explosive group.  They complement each other and discover parts of each other that they only fantasized about.
This was very quick read, but it was full of emotion and love.  It was a story about this trio – with very little outside forces coming in to the story.
I am unsure what is going to come of more books to come, as this story seems fairly complete, but we shall see.

Okay, first off, I’m glad I got to read this free because buying this book for the price listed on Amazon is nuts. $6.13? Really? That’s pretty high for a book that’s like 91 pages. it says 91 on the listing but it seemed even less than that when I was reading. The fair price would have been $2.99 at most. Unless this author is SO popular that the Publisher thought that her e-books are instantly over $5.00.
Anyway, the story itself was just on “okay” for me. It’s about a tomboy named Rachel who was to marry 2 men to honor her family and grow up to be a stay at home mother. Well, she didn’t like that very much and ran away. She hid in a ship getting ready to leave her planet and meets the captain, Arek and his second in command, Dev.
Dev’s been in love with Arek for years and Arek has felt the same, but neither ever told each other of their feelings until Rachel stepped into the picture. This story was very fast paste. After Rachel gets discovered, the story is fast forwarded to 1 week later where Dev and Arek are already in love with Rachel. I dislike fast forwards like this because I wanna read why Dev and Arek fell for her and how. I don’t wanna be just told.
Honestly, even though I liked Rachel, it felt like she was a 3rd wheel. Maybe cause I was more interested in Dev and Arek’s story. lol. They said they loved her, but I feel like they could have been together without her. I didn’t read enough interactions between the 3 of them to be convinced otherwise. See, sometimes fast forwarding a story is a bad idea. The readers miss out on a lot, unless it’s done well. Dev and Arek pushed it from being a 2 STARS to 3 STARS. They were hot together and I saw so much potential for their love story. I think this is a series…not sure if I’ll be reading the next book soon

TWO 4s and a 3 Star Review for Circling Back by Amanda Young #MMF

Circling Back

Title: Circling Back
Author Name & Publisher: Amanda Young
Publication Date & Length: August 2015 – 165 pgs

Synopsis

Stella fled home at seventeen with a broken heart, an unplanned pregnancy, and a vow never to look back. Twenty years later, she has a career she enjoys and a solid relationship with the child she placed for open adoption. When that child goes in search of her birth father and calls for assistance, Stella is forced to return to her hometown and face the men who broke her heart, one of whom fathered her child.

Gavin and Holden raised a lot of hell as teenagers. They broke the law, broke their mother’s hearts, and almost broke each other before they finally got their act together. Through all the ups and downs, they stuck by each other and managed to build a happy life together. The one thing they couldn’t do was forget the woman they’d loved and lost.

Forced to face the past and each other after so many years is no small feat. The trio does their best to make amends and put the past behind them while forging new bonds. Old feelings are rekindled and new emotions emerge from the ashes of their youthful indiscretions. Something remarkable could be on the horizon if they’re strong enough to navigate the pitfalls of a triad relationship and stand strong against the outside forces conspiring to bring them to their knees.

FourStars

This was my first book book to read by Amanda Young.  I enjoyed her style of writing.  The story read fast and flowed well.  A cute love story of 2nd chances.

I thought the chemistry was good between Holden, Gavin and Stella, it seemed they could just take off where they left their relationship years back. The sex between the three was quite steamy.  I would have liked a little more about Mae, there really wasn’t much development of her character.

I did think it was a good read and will look to read more by this author.

FourStars

Let me start out by saying that I enjoyed the story so much, that I bumped the star rating up by 1.  However, this book needs editing.  There are so many incorrect words and misspellings, I actually thought to myself whether or not this had been edited at all.  I found it distracting.

As for the actual content, it was a great, sweet story.  I liked the fact that the story did not really dwell on the past, it was more about the right here and now.  I really liked Stella’s character and how she was able to put her own issues aside to help her daughter, Mae.

Then you have Holden and Gavin.  Even before they knew what type of love they were looking for, they had found it in each other.  But, young love is confusing and not always easy.  I enjoyed how they had their own relationship, their own lives and supported each other wholeheartedly.

The chemistry between all three of them is steamy and I liked how realistic their relationship seemed.  The mystery was not so much a mystery.  I wish we would have heard more about the co-worker that Holden had and about Mae and the relationship between her and Stella, Holden and Gavin, but I understand that this was a story about the three of them.

I enjoyed that you also got to see the relationship between Holden and Gavin, separate from their relationship between them and Stella.  It was nice that their relationship did not get lost in the shuffle.

Overall, like I said in the beginning, I enjoyed this story.  It just needs a little more editing and it will be perfect.

I felt like I was missing something with this book. It had a neat little 2nd chances spin to it though.
There was an interesting dynamic between the three of the main characters. The men lived as a married gay couple, but once Stella comes back, they are only with her, which I didn’t care for. It was never the two men together and her with them. They always were there to please her, which wouldn’t work long term, not in most relationships anyway.
I have to say the plot was predictable and I saw every ‘surprise’ coming, however, I did like the author’s style. It is what kept me reading through quite a few silly (and awkward) statements that weren’t meant to be funny.
I’d likely try another book from this author in the hopes that it was just this book that didn’t quite work for me because the writing style was so good.

Excerpt

The rest of June and July flew by at the speed of light. The three of them managed to alternate weekend visits and video chat with each other a couple of times a week. Even so, it was never enough. Stella was always left wanting more. More hugs. More kisses. More time. The longer she spent with them, the worse leaving became.

To make matters worse, she’d been scatterbrained as hell at work, which wasn’t like her at all. On Mondays she dragged her tired ass into work regardless of how much she wanted to sleep. Fridays were no better because the weekend was right there, so close she could touch it, and she couldn’t concentrate on anything else. In the time between, she slept poorly and dreamed of someone finally inventing a transporter that could beam people back and forth across long distances. Something like that would make her life so much simpler.

Her boss was starting to look at her funny. Marion, one of the other partner’s assistants, had asked if she was feeling all right after she forgot Thursday was her day to bring in donuts for the break room. She’d never missed a turn. Not even when she’d had the flu and dragged her ass in to work sick as a dog.

Being with Holden and Gavin was driving her mad. Mad with desire when she was with them; mad with impatience when they were apart. In their arms, she felt beautiful and desirable—two things she hadn’t experienced nearly enough in her lifetime. They reminded her that there was more to being a woman than complicated beauty regimens and menstrual cycles. In return, she discovered a need deep within herself to please them and insure their happiness. The only problem with that lie in the fact that they lived so far apart.

Stella darted around her apartment, straightening up the clutter that had accumulated all week. A glance at the clock on the wall warned her to pick up her pace because Holden and Gavin were supposed to arrive any minute. It was their weekend at her place and she was running behind schedule—which seemed to be the case more often than not lately.

The doorbell rang just as she shoved the last of the dirty towels into the bathroom hamper. Swiping the tendrils of hair that escaped her braid away from her face, she hurried to the door and yanked it open. “I’m so glad you’re both here.” She leaned out the door and looked beyond Gavin. “Where’s Holden?”

“Wow. Way to make a boy feel like chopped liver,” Gavin deadpanned.

“Oh hush.” Stella ushered Gavin inside and closed the door. “You know I’m thrilled to see you. I was just expecting you both.”

“I know.” Gavin sighed. “Holden really wanted to be here, but he’s behind at the shop and just couldn’t afford to close down tomorrow. He said to send his regrets and tell you he’d make it up to you next weekend.”

“Oh. Okay. Well, that’s understandable.” It sucked, but work was a fact of life they couldn’t avoid.

Gavin must have heard the disappointment in her voice, because he frowned. “If it makes you feel any better, he was pouting like a champ when I left.”

“That does make me feel better and, oddly enough, a little guilty.” Stella walked over to the couch and sat down.

“Guilty?” Gavin followed and sat beside her. “For what?”

Stella grinned, feeling playful and wicked. She lifted up and flipped around, straddling Gavin’s lap. “I feel bad that Holden’s going to miss out on watching all the dirty, dirty things I’m planning to do to his husband this weekend.”

“Oh really?” Gavin asked, grabbing two handfuls of her ass. “Do tell.”

Stella leaned in, breathed in the familiar scent of cologne, testosterone, and male musk, and kissed her way up his neck. “I’d much rather show you.”
