This book picked up right where book 2 left off.  Mostly revolving around Christian, Rick and Elliot.  The kidnapping story continues.  loved how Christian stayed with Rick with his memory gone.  The story took a turn that I didn’t expect.  Not sure when I got done reading it, if I liked the turn it took or not.  It just surprised me.

It was a very quick addition to book 2 that leaves you with a cliffhanger again. The storyline is very good and keeps you wanting to read more.  I’ll have to make sure to watch for book 4 to find out what happens next.

*Leaving out comments on editing due to ARC being unedited version*
I have to say I liked the way the three men came together in this story although I didn’t feel there was much progression in the story minus the fact that they got Elliot’s daughter back.
This one felt more like a love story than the mercenary feel of the previous two in the series. Although I think the focus on Rick’s medical stuff was necessary to understand the pain that both Elliot and Christian felt and the guilt that they both had something to do with it in one way or another.
That being said though, I felt like once again we were being told the story instead of shown. I didn’t feel any connection to any of the men and what they were going through as there was emotions lacking all around. There were also jumps in tense from present to past that hindered the flow of the story for me.
And being as I have a background in the medical field I can say that the entire hospital scene was completely wrong, but for the sake of the story I tried to let it go.
We are left with another cliffhanger, but I have to say I’m not sure that I’ll feel as propelled to pick up the next segment since I don’t feel like I connected enough to feel the need to know how things work out.

Rick has been denying his true feelings for Christian for years, but has finally been pushed to his breaking point. He decides it’s time to either move forward with Christian or move on.

Christian’s a one-night-stand kind of guy who lives for fun and has no interest in a serious relationship. When Rick lays his feelings on the line one night, Christian doesn’t know what to do. He’s never thought of Rick as anything more than a friend, and is terrified that no matter how he responds to Rick’s revelation their friendship will never be the same.

I was looking forward to reading more about the mercenaries and I was not disappointed in anyway with this book. Once again the story was fast paced and well written.  It was full of action and suspense.

I loved Rick and felt sorry for him loving someone who didn’t get it. But once Christian did figure it out the chemistry between the two was amazing.

I love quick series that keep you wanting to read more.  I definitely can’t wait for the next book.

ThreeandHalfStars

I have to say after the first book, this one was much better. I liked that the characters had history together and knew each other long enough to really have feelings for each other.
I do wish there would have been more emotion included in the book. A lot of it felt like we were being told what they felt instead of shown it. Meaning, instead of the characters exhibiting emotions and things like tender caresses and feeling rough skin we were told it was simply love and sex. It lacked sensuality in the sex scenes.
Overall, not a bad book, but I think there is definitely room to grow and expand upon the story and what is happening as I said with emotions and feeling to make the characters come to life and help the reader relate to them. Also, I’d like to know how they are ‘there to serve’ when mercenary’s need to have someone paying their contracts as they are not part of the government.
Once again I would say that there is a lot of sentences structured the same (words ending with -ing starting sentence after sentence).
Since this one was better than the last, I must say I’m eager to read the next installment.. Be warned this one does have a killer cliffhanger as well.

Review

FourandHalfStarsOk, so not much is hotter than Mercenaries, coming in to the rescue.  And this book had that and then some.  It was a great fast, quick read.
It was a story of love at first sight, which normally I like a little more to them falling in love, but it worked really well in this story. The plot had tons of action and suspense.

Loved Chase, he seemed to have tons of charisma and power. The relationship that was developing with Chase and Cameron was explosive.

I think that this is going to be a good series to follow.  If you like quick reads with steamy sex, then this is for you.

I liked the premise behind this book.. Mercenary falls for FBI agent. While the writing was quite good, I found the characters a bit unbelievable. Without any sign that Chase was gay or even interested, Cameron kissed him with I didn’t think really worked. And then they went on as if it hadn’t even happened until they were banging in the hotel room later.
The feelings were super rushed as in they were both feeling/thinking like they wanted to be together forever when they knew absolutely nothing about one another except their names. Insta love at it’s best and the one thing I have a really hard time with.
The plot itself was actually quite good. I think it could’ve used expanding upon and more showing instead of telling to draw the reader in a bit more, but over all not bad and the saving point of the book.
It really could use another pass by an editor as there is questions that didn’t have question marks, repetition of phrases (i.e. ‘my money is on the money. Angelo loves his money), there is an abundant use of adverbs at times too (Knocking, Opening, Walking… all in a row).. There is also a few typos like Allen is spelled Alan at one point and long distance is long distant.  NOTE: This is editing errors, not the writing itself.
Overall, not a bad story, I would certainly read more by the author.
