This Halloween collection has a little something for everybody. With demons, ghosts, psychics, reapers, shifters, and witches… a rainbow of paranormal/supernatural is included.

In Nine-Tenths of the Law by Kiernan Kelly, Oliver discovers he has a haunted sex toy. In Bear Hugs by Laney Cairo, Martin’s boyfriend might be bear shifter and apparently that’s news to him. In Houdini’s Masquerade by Alex Cohen, when Lila meets a succubus, everything changes. In Præsidium by Katey Hawthorne, Thackeray needs helps from a witch who won’t help him until he explains his demon. In Black Cat by Jamie Jennings, when a cat shifter can see ghosts, Micah’s simple life suddenly isn’t. In Haunted Honeymoon by Aaron Michaels, Dylan and Jake seem to be sharing their non-honeymoon with a couple of ghosts.

In And the Tarot Cards Said by Jacey Mills, an insistent ghost shouldn’t be too much to handle for psychic Vassily and his Tarot-reading assistant Ben. In Spirit Wolf by L.J. Hamlin, when Dawson rescues an injured wolf shifter, it’s not just his book that gets worked on while getting back to nature. In Wet Nails by Shira Glassman, it’s not every day a glamorous ’50s actress comes out of a TV but lonely grad student Adina isn’t complaining. In Possessed by Love by Sheri Velarde, a storm trapping them together gives Andrew and Damian the chance they’ve been waiting for. In The Last Night by Kassandra Lea, Eric gets one night a year and he always picks one particular Halloween. In Molly by Mychael Black, Detectives Cameron and Chase discover the murderer plaguing their city is more sinister than they could have known and not entirely human.

Excerpt

From Nine-Tenths of the Law by Kiernan Kelly

Let me set the scene for you. There I was, on my bed, naked, my asshole greased, and the butt plug inserted in it as far as possible, angled to hit my prostate, the vibrating option turned on. I was fisting my cock, rock hard and slick with lube, edging so close to orgasm my balls felt ready to pop.

“Fuck, it’s dark in here.”

I believe I may have completely levitated off the mattress. I know my hard-on wilted like an ice sculpture in a microwave. Scanning the bedroom, I looked for an intruder, but could see no one.

“Tight, too. I always did love a tight, hot ass.”

The speaker was British; the voice, deep and sexy, and coming from right behind me. I spun around in a circle a few times, trying to catch the person I assumed could only be a machete-wielding-chainsaw-brandishing-serial killer that happened to have a silky, dark chocolate voice, but I couldn’t see anyone. As far as I could discover, I was alone, which of course meant I’d imagined the voice.

“What are you doing, Olivier? Stop it at once. You’re making me dizzy.”

Olivier? No one had called me that in years, not since… Hearing the old nickname was shocking enough to leach the fear out of me for a minute. It took me another full sixty seconds to realize the deliciously decadent voice was not only real, but also somewhat familiar, and more importantly, coming from my ass.

That’s when I finally fainted.

Nine-Tenths of the Law by Kiernan Kelly M/M Rating: 4 Stars
This story started of funny “Haunted Butt Plug” lol.. There were also some sad moments when you learn what happened to Martin the Ghost in collage. Olivier is using his toy when it starts talking to him.. The ending was a little bit I don’t know how to put this other then weird but all together I liked this story!
Bear Hugs by Laney Cairo M/M Rating: 4 Stars
I thought this story was really cute with the way the author explained Eric’s shifting and why he did.  It was a different approach to it then I have ever seen. These two together Martin and Eric were so cute and I could feel the love growing between these two. All together I really liked this story!
Houdini’s Masquerade by Alex Cohen F/F Rating: 5 Stars
Lila only gets one night on Halloween to enjoy herself and there at a party she meets Tasha a Succubus who is instantly attracted to her. Well Tasha has to search her out because she can not stop thinking about Lila. There was so much steam in this story and the way the author wrote these two together I just loved this story!
Praesidum by Katey Hawthorne M/M Rating: 4 Stars
Thackeray is a demon hunter who also has one inside of him he goes around making sure no demons make it into this world. Matt is a witch who is trying to stop his coven from calling a demon. They both work together to stop the summoning. I liked this book and these two MC’s together!
Black Cat by Jamie Jennings M/M Rating: 4 Stars
I liked this story but I would not call it a romance. There was really no romance between these two MC’s but it does leave it open for more which I hope there is because I would love to see more of Nico and Micah.  In this story something is after Micah and Nico protects him in his cat form. I really liked this story!
Haunted Honeymoon by Aaron Michaels M/M Rating: 5 Stars
I thought this one was a little freaky I honestly could not imagine seeing what Dylan sees. But at the same time I thought it was so sweet when you find out who the ghosts are and how Dylan and Jake are at the hotel for their honeymoon.  I can’t go much more into this story without giving something away. So all together I really loved this story!
And The Tarot Card Says by Jacey Mills M/M Rating:  3 Stars
While I thought the story was cute something about it did not sit right with me and I felt like it wrapped to nicely. I just don’t think I felt the connection between these two MC’s.  But I did love the pretense of this authors story.  So I liked it but for some reason I needed to feel that connection to believe it and unfortunately with this one I did not get that.
Spirit Wolf by L.J. Hamlin M/M Rating: This was a DNF for me sadly..
It was just too descriptive. One minute you get everything from Dawson’s POV then on the second page of this story it was all Dawson sits down then Dawson jumps up and it went on like that.  After a little bit it just got to be to much for me. So I am sad to say this story was just not for me…
Wet Nails by Shira Glassman F/F Rating: 3 Stars
While I liked the pretense of this story I did not really get why?  I can’t say what that why is without giving away the story but a lot of it left me scratching my head confused.  You do get steam with this one but that was about it. So I liked were the author was going with this but I was honestly to confused over parts of this so this one was sadly not for me…
Possessed by Love by Sheri Velarde M/M Rating: 4 Stars
This was a super fast read but I really liked it! I can’t say too much about it without giving to much away. With this one you get Damian and Andrew who are possessed with lust for each other.. I really liked this story!
The Last Night by Kassandra Lea M/M Rating: 5 Stars
This story was so beautiful and at the same time so sad.  I am crying right now just thinking about this story. Eric Storm is a reaper and he gets one night a year to be with the man he loves and OMG! This story was so heartbreaking.. For the author to pull me in and just ugh bring me to tears for these two men in this short of a story was just amazing! I loved this story!
Molly by Mychael Black M/M Rating: 4 Stars
So while I liked this story I was left wth so many questions.. Like who, why and why were this people killed.  That just left me so confused.  I know who the killer was but the whole why behind everything I needed to know.  Lets just say this story creeped me out… I really liked this story I would just have liked a little more details though.
All together these stories were awesome for Halloween to get you into the mood! I really liked most of these stories and would definitely recommend this book!

OMG!! This book was so good!
So I have been in a serious dark book mood, so this book hit all the right spots.
Michael is trying to rid the world of all the bad vampires who kill for fun. That is how he runs into Wild Bill one night at a club when he is busy trying to hunt a bad vampire.  Let me say the scene in the hotel room with all 3 of them was hot for a little bit there.  They part ways after Bill drugs him but Michael finds him again and turns the table on Wild Bill and leaves him in the same situation.  But it does not take long for Wild Bill to hunt him down and save him right in the nick of time.
These two together, let me just say the scenes when they were together I could not help thinking “Damn that is Hot!!!”  Wild Bill falls in love with Michael and vice versa.  At the same time Bill has been doing something to Michael every time he feeds from that he was unaware of.
Let me tell you Will Bill when he is being protective of Michael is hot!!
They end up in another bad situation, which I feel like made them closer than before.
All together I really loved this book and can’t wait to read the rest of this series!
I would definitely recommend this book!

FourStars

This is a horror story. It’s spooky and haunting, and its protagonist, Hunter Beamont, faces these terrors with panic, bravery, strength, and desparation. His journey is compelling. He’s a young man facing tremendous loss. Determined not to lose even more, he hangs onto the wrong things, unwilling to let go and hurt again. Or feel again. His journey becomes a harrowing coming-of-age story.
Rick’s tales always keep me reading right up until the end. The horror scenes are compelling, though not too scary for me, in text. If this was a movie I’d be screaming my lungs off.
There’s one scorching sex scene, but the overall romance of the book didn’t work for me. Just no chemistry. It’s something I’ve encountered in Reed’s other books. The scenario seems implausible. A Demon Inside won’t make you fall in love, but it’s an excellent thriller.

Excerpt from Lust and Ice

“You have the devil’s own luck,” Jordan groaned.

“Actually, that’s Kain. I’m still behind him by two virgins.”

“How do you find these guys?” Allen complained. “I’ve only managed to find two!”

“Oh shut up. You’re one ahead of me.” Jordan rolled his eyes.

“Back on subject, fellows. Did I mention how sweetly he cried?” Hugh smirked. “And get this… he’s thinks I’m going to keep calling him now, be his boyfriend. Seems like he was waiting for that special someone, the love of his life.”

“Yeah, right. What a loser.” Allen sneered. “How often did you have to tell him you loved him?”

“Too many times.” Hugh’s disgust was clear as he raised his glass and winked. “Like I’d be caught dead outside of a bedroom with someone like that.”

“Goes without saying.” Kain sprawled in his chair. “So, how’s it looking down there? Fill me in.”

“Jordan and I have a bet going about who’s going to do that redhead on the dance floor first,” Allen said. “He’s the one with the green shirt, there in the middle.”

“Why not do him together?” Hugh asked.

“We plan to.” Allen winked. “I said I’d do him first. We’ll tag team him later. Been awhile since Jordan and I got to do a double penetration.”

Kain’s hearty laugh boomed out, drawing attention from those around them. “I almost feel sorry for the guy.” Kain glanced around the group; several pairs of disbelieving eyes stared back at him. “Okay, no I don’t.”

“The legendary Ice feels sorry?” Hugh’s lips twisted. “That’ll be a cold day in hell.”

“Hell wouldn’t have me.”

“Oh yeah, it would. Personally, I think we’d end up ruling hell.” Allen smirked at Kain.

“Ah, someone has that position, remember?” Jordan shrugged.

“We could be kings, or lords.”

“There’s supposed to be seven princes of hell. One for each deadly sin.” Hugh rolled his eyes as his friends stared at him. “What?”

Excerpt from Into the Darkness

“Same plan as usual?”

Allen waited until Jordan turned and looked at him. “Why mess with what works? I’ll move in first, then you come in after I set him up. We’ll get him all hot and bothered, then take his ass home. I bet we have him in bed before the hour is out.”

Jordan slapped Allen on the back. “I agree. If it isn’t broke, why fix it? Although it would be nice, for once, if our marks didn’t just fall to the floor and puddle at our feet.”

“Are you nuts? Besides, what do you expect out of these sluts?” Allen shrugged. “And by the way, I will fuck him first.”

“Keep telling yourself that. Got a feeling he’s going to beg me to do him first.”

Allen rolled his eyes. They’d just see about that. “My place or yours this time?”

They lived just a block apart. Allen had tried to buy an apartment in the same building as Jordan, but there had been nothing available that was as nice. Allen ended up purchasing his own place as close as he could to Jordan.

Jordan shrugged as he searched the dance floor. “Doesn’t matter to me, but my place is probably cleaner. The maid came yesterday.”

“Fine by me, we’ll do him at your place then. Besides, you have more toys. And a bigger bed.”

“Thought you took care of that little oversight?”

“My new bed will be arriving next week. Plus, I want you to go with me to check out some of the toys I found at this new place that just opened up. You have a better feel for things like that.”

“Competitive asshole.”

Allen chuckled. “Pot… meet kettle. You went out and bought a new BMW just because I got one. I’m not even going to mention the hair.”

Jordan shrugged, then stepped aside as someone — a tiny blond who looked entirely too young to be allowed in the club — passed him. “I liked yours better. Hey Allen, did you see that little blond twink?”

Allen raised an eyebrow as he looked in the direction Jordan indicated. “Hmm? No, I didn’t. But a blond? Really? Are you feeling okay?”

“Not for us, you shit. I was thinking that was more along the line of what Hugh likes — young, sweet, and innocent. Even though he doesn’t look old enough to be in here.”

“Playing matchmaker now, are you?”

“Fuck off.” Jordan laughed as he pushed Allen toward the dance floor.

Excerpt from Haunting The Night

Hugh sat at the table watching as Kain, Jordan, and Allen made their moves on the prey they’d picked out. He’d checked the dance floor, and not one guy he saw impressed him so far. He needed a change — something or someone to break the monotony. With a sigh, he picked up his glass. Before he could take a drink, that feeling of being watched hit him square between the shoulder blades again. His shoulders tensed and chill bumps broke out over his flesh.

“What the hell?” While he was used to being stared at, and even got his own fair share of attention from the paparazzi, this was different. More intense, more… threatening, almost. Unease flooded him, and he couldn’t shake the recurring feeling of danger. Hugh glanced around, but didn’t see anyone taking an undue interest in him. Maybe a family member of one of the defendants they’d gotten off was stalking him. Hugh dismissed the idea immediately; that was just silly.

More likely his old man had someone keeping an eye on him. Now that he could believe — the nosey old bastard. “Fuck this.” The whole night had been off from the get-go, and he’d had enough. He rose, with every intention of leaving, when the overhead lights spotlighted someone at the bar below.

“Well, hello,” he murmured as he stared at the young man at the main bar. Jesus, how had he missed this one? He was perfect. Damned if he was leaving now. The night was suddenly looking up.

Dressed simply, in faded jeans, a black T-shirt, and a leather bomber jacket, was a stranger, one of the most gorgeous men Hugh had ever seen. He was everything he wanted in a man — cute, small, and blond. The perfect twink. Actually, the tiny blond looked entirely too young to be in Night Moves, but he was sure the guy wouldn’t be allowed in if he was underage. To make things even better, his target was staring at him. Even from this distance, he could see the hunger dancing in the stranger’s eyes. He was a little more blue-collar than Hugh normally went for, but what the hell. Hadn’t he just been thinking he needed a change?

“Yeah, why not?”

Hugh had taken no more than a few steps when the man at the bar winked at him. Most of the twinks he picked up were either drama queens or shy little guys. There was certainly nothing shy about this man. Hugh raised an eyebrow. He’d have to show the stranger who was in charge, of course, then they could have some fun. At least it looked like he wasn’t going to have to put out much effort tonight, and that suited him just fine. Hugh made his way downstairs to the main bar and to the guy waiting on him.

Excerpt

Hunter wasn’t sure how much time had passed as he wandered the rooms, thinking, but he knew he should be getting back to Ian. He remembered there was a back staircase, not nearly as grand as the large curving one at the front, but closer. It led down to the kitchen and was narrow, for utilitarian purposes only.

The stairway was close… and dark. Hunter needed to grip the walls as he made his way down the raw wooden stairs. Before he even saw it, he felt it, the web of a spider, sticky yet almost ephemeral, clinging to his face. And in dim periphery, he saw a fat, hairy brown spider, alerted to a catch, begin to make its way toward his face. Hunter struggled to get out of the web, trying to tear the gluey strands away from him. He gasped as some of the web got into his mouth and was horrified at the thought that the spider might follow suit.

He pushed onward down the stairs, stumbling, the web clinging to him, accompanied by the crawly sensation of the spider now making its way through his hair. From below he heard laughter. He realized Ian must have returned to the house and glimpsed his predicament. The laughter grew along with Hunter’s horror at the web. He batted at it, struggling to get down the stairs and away from the spider.

After jumping down the last few stairs, Hunter managed to get most of the spider’s web off himself and at last to fling the advancing beast to the floor. He looked back to see it scurry away.

He had a few choice words for Ian, which he started right in on before even seeing the man. “What’s wrong with you? Couldn’t you have helped me? Who knows if that damn spider wasn’t poisonous? And to laugh at me! I just don’t get—” Hunter stopped talking all at once in the middle of the bright, sun-drenched kitchen.

He was alone.

“Ian?” Hunter moved through the other rooms. Ian was nowhere to be found.

“Ian? This isn’t funny. Come out now.” Behind him he heard giggling. Hunter whirled around and was confronted with only empty space. This was not like Ian at all, not at all like the kind but rather staid and humorless friend of the family Hunter had always known. He did one more search of the first floor rooms, assuring himself that all were empty.

Hunter hurried from Beaumont House and stood for a moment after closing and locking the doors behind him, composing himself. The sensation of being watched returned once more, and this time Hunter could pinpoint where it came from. He turned quickly, surveying the upstairs windows, but all of them were dark, reflecting only the sun.

Hunter knew the car was just a few yards away, but as he rushed to it, his foot caught on a bramble, which brought him to his knees. He skinned his hands as he went down. “Jesus,” he whispered… and then tensed. He could feel someone behind him, drawing closer. He was sure it wasn’t Ian. Hunter squeezed his eyes shut, muscles tensing, as he felt hot breath on his neck. He wanted to scream but had no voice.

He turned quickly.

And there was no one there.

Part horror, part comedy, part murder investigation, this is a gory, terrifying ride. A writer buys the beautiful art-deco home of a Hollywood legend – only to discover that the stories surrounding his new home just might be true.

While Inman retains many traditional horror conventions, his cast is unconventional. James invites his best friends to stay with him in the house: a bitchy group of middle aged men from LA. They are joined by a flamingly camp seamstress and an octogenarian on day release from her care home. Between cocktails and poltergeists, James slow unravels his new home’s secrets.

This is the strangest, yet most compelling book I’ve read in a long time. I still can’t decide whether I enjoyed it – but I certainly couldn’t put it down. The plot dragged in parts, raced in others and time shifts didn’t always work – but the dialogue and characters were brilliant.

I will warn readers – if you can accept the ending, don’t read the epilogue!

This book is a whirlwind of adventure, romance and horror.  After placing any hope of realism firmly to one side, I couldn’t help but enjoy this story of an author and an enslaved prostitute taking on multiple evil bad guys in New York City.

True, the cast of characters is immense, the bad guys are straight from central casting and convoluted sub-plots create incoherent action scenes – but once you get past all of that, it is impossible not to love Ayden and Niko.

On their path to true love and happiness, the boys must overcome slavery, snuff films and a sadistic mute with an enormous penis.  After a second read-through, I’m still not sure what exactly happens in the last few chapters of the book, but Swift serves up enough high-camp horror for several novels.

For full enjoyment, this must be read with a sense of humour and a few glasses of wine.
