This was another amazing story in Dreamspinner’s Advent Calendar and by a new author for me (and she does have any other books out yet). I really hope to see more stories from this author because this story was an amazing, sweet and the characters were complex and lovable. There was also diversity in the story and it was great to see how other nationalities react to gays and their rights.

This is the second book I’ve read by Avon Gale and this story was great. This was a holiday story about New Year’s Eve (which you don’t find many of) and I really enjoyed it.  I love the duo POV type story which you don’t really get very often. Needless to say I’ve wanted to read her book Breakaway, but I had a lot of book reviews due this month and could not find the time but I’m definitely going to buy it soon. This author had quickly become a “must buy” for me. This was an excellent job in just 37 pages.

This book was surprising good as I had no idea what to expect as this was a new author for me and the blurb seemed really of the wall. The authors writing style made this a really easy read and all I can say that this book was sweet and cute. The author was able to take characters and make them come alive even with the fairy tale feel of the book. I will definitely be looking for more books by this author.

Henry doesn’t know what’s up with the guy, but Henry wishes he’d just go away. That doesn’t seem to be in the cards, however. In a day full of surprises, the biggest is yet to come.

Well I was kind of disappointed with this book. The romance just did not seem to be there. I really had high hopes because I’ve read books by this author before and really enjoyed them. But this one just did not do it for me. The author writing was very good and I loved the initial chaos, but that were it ended for me. I think maybe if it would have been a tad bit longer then you would get more of the out of it.

FourStarsI have always enjoyed romances with children in them and I really enjoyed this one even if I didn’t really enjoy the ending. I read a couple of books by this author so I wasn’t surprised that I enjoyed the book.  I immediately connected with Dex, Ed and Rowan. I was glad to see that Ed and Dex were going to make a go of this especially with how the story ended. Sorry I refuse to tell you. You’ll just have to read the book for yourself.

Brick is hired to kill a Santa Claus on Christmas…

But once he sees who is behind the costume he finds he can not do it after all.

This was such a sweet holiday Novella but it was also sad and dark in parts because of everything Brick had gone through growing up and how it shaped his life to this point.

I really do not want to give away any of this story because it was just so good you really need to read this one for yourself. But I will say I loved the way this author wrote these characters and this story!

All together I really loved this Holiday story!
I would recommend this Novella!

Kara

FourandHalfStars

Absolutely loved this book even though it was kind of a dark read but I’ve come to expect no less from this author. This book was extremely fast paced and the author was able to pull this off in only 54 pages. Brick and Robin were amazing separately and together. The author drew me immediately into the story right from the beginning. As I read this story holiday story I immediately began to feel for both characters. They both started out the same but their lives were completely different. The author made me believe that an assassin can find love with a person completely different.

Lynn

FiveStars

Oh this was such a good little story that falls into the holiday
category although it really could be read at any time of the year.

I liked the fact that we got to see under the hard core assassin
exterior to the man who had feelings and didn’t just do his job
without thinking about it. The way these two men connected was just
great. I really enjoyed watching as they went from Killer/Killee to
much more than that.

Such a great story.

I love this story it was really cute and sometimes I’m into really cute stories, they are a great was to pass the time. I love the stranded in a blizzard type story, this enable to couple to really get to know each other. Although this was a short story the author was able to take Logan and Colin and develop them into a believable story.

FiveStars

This was a really fun short story about two men who end up being stuck
together for the holidays. I really liked the way it felt genuine and
real instead of forced or sickly sweet.

It was short, but it felt lie the characters and their relationship
were fully developed while being relatable at the same time. The
banter was fun and gave the story some levity while there was still
some hot romance to be had at the same time.

Wow, another great book from Dreamspinners Advent Calendar. I loved James and really loved Kari. This was sweet loving story about how two men find each other. The only big issue was that James did not work, but I guess some men like to be taken care of and some men like to take care of some else and I guess Kari was helping James by given suggestions on work in Iceland.

This was an extremely sweet story just in time for the holidays. I love the lost phone number and was glad to see the met up again. I’ve never read anything from this author but enjoyed the story. Just wish is was a little bit longer. This would enable the author to add a little me depth to the characters. But overall, it was cute and sweet and just in time for the holidays.

Title: Benoit’s Surprise Christmas
Author Name & Publisher: Catherine Lievens (Dreamspinner Press)
Publication Date & Length: January 20th 2016- 50 pages

Synopsis

Belgium expat Benoit Girault has only worked in the administrative department of Toys for All in Milwaukee for a few short months, but it’s long enough for him to miss everyone back home and to fall for coworker Jake Manning—not that Jake ever notices him. Or so Benoit thinks.

Jake notices Benoit all right, but he doesn’t want to risk mixing business with pleasure, not when it could create problems in the office. So when Jake’s friend and boss, Randall, tells him to team up with Benoit to organize a Saint Nicholas party, he’s less than thrilled. But as they work together and Jake nurses Benoit through an illness, he realizes some people might be worth risking it all for.

Excerpt

“YOU WANT me to do what?”

Jake’s boss smiled at him as if he were asking nothing much—the bastard. Randall knew exactly what he was doing, just like he knew Jake would react like he did. He hated parties, and everyone in the office knew it.

“Organize a party for the new clients.”

“Janet usually organizes the parties.”

“She’s busy with another contract. The Belgian clients are yours, Jake. It seems obvious to me that you should be the one in charge of this.”

“But I don’t know anything about the saint you’re talking about.”

“You have enough time to learn something about him and about the Belgian traditions that go with it.”

“You can’t do this to me, Randall. Please. I’m already busy with this new contract. I don’t have time to organize a party.”

“The clients were delighted when I told them there would be a party.”

Jake gaped at his boss. “You told them?”

“Of course. When Mr. Leblanc said he was bringing his wife and son along, I just knew we had to do something for the kid.”

“Someone could take him to the zoo,” Jake muttered.

“Jake, we’re a toy company. Why would we take a kid to the zoo?”

“It’s not like we actually have the toys in this office. That’s what the stores are for.”

Randall set his jaw and narrowed his eyes. He obviously wasn’t going to be swayed by Jake’s protests. But what about pleading? “Randall, I just don’t have the time to do everything on my own, especially if you want a kiddie party.”
