Title: So Into You (The PI Guys #2)
Author Name & Publisher: S.E. Harmon (Dreamspinner Press)
Publication Date & Length: January 4, 2016 – 326 pgs

Synopsis

Screenwriter Noah Ashley has a few four-letter words for his agent when she suggests he improve his script by shadowing a PI. Still, because he’s an artist dedicated to his craft and she knows where the bodies are buried, he agrees. Then he spends a little time with the gorgeous PI, and suddenly it seems like a really good plan. The PI doesn’t seem to entirely love the idea, but Noah has never been afraid to go after what he wants.

PI Drew Rodriguez is used to people depending on him. He’s the classic rock for his family. Responsible. Dependable. The classic rock would never succumb to the borderline sleazy temptation of friends with benefits, no matter how sexy that temptation is. Drew is looking for something enduring.

Despite Drew’s misgivings, it’s not long before they’ve got all the requisites for friends with benefits going. Friendly, good conversation? Check. Fun times in and out of bed? Check. Hot, electrolyte-sapping sex? Double check. Falling in love? Yeah. About that….

FiveStars

S.E. Harmon truly has a wonderful gift for writing phenomenal books and this book is just another example of that.

We met Drew in book one and got just a small glimpse of who he was. But his book shows us just who Drew really is. We also got see see more of Mac (Drews best friend and business partner and Macs boyfriend Jordan) too. And then there is Noah.

Drew is the sarcastic, funny, caring, loving individual. His sarcasm is hilarious. When he is uncomfortable he is sarcastic. When he is nervous he is sarcastic. When he flirting he is sarcastic. But Drew would not be Drew without it. It makes his character and it makes it one of the reason I just love him. He has not always had it easy. He has mommy issues, and he has daddy issues but regardless of all that he is the person that his little brother Zachary looks up too and wants to be like.

Noah has his own issues from being raised in foster care and having to give his all to accomplish all the fame and riches that he has. But the one thing he does not have is a boyfriend because Marshall cheated on him and Noah got rid of him for it. Noah has trust issues and even though when Drew and Noah finally got together and they both knew they were perfect with each other, Noah returned home to LA after his no strings attached hook up buddy with Drew. He broke his heart and Drews heart also.

This is a book about learning to get over your insecurities and trust issues and choosing to place your trust and heart in the one that you loves hands and to hold on for the ride.

This was such a wonderful read. It was full of of sarcastic humor that I found that I had a smile on my face through almost the whole book.

I definitely recommend this book to others.

One is a rude jerk. The other, the life of the party.

It was hate at first sight.

While Finn always comes out on top on the court, Dexter’s carefree and fun-loving personality earns him scores of adoring men and women. And as much as Finn fights to deny it, there’s another reason for the tension he feels when Dex is around. Hate wasn’t the only thing he felt when he first laid eyes on his opponent.

When they’re forced to team up, the two men must bury their differences—on and off the court—if either of them is going to succeed professionally.

Review

FiveStarsThis book is powerful. From almost the beginning my heart broke for these characters. Both have different things in their past that affects their future so tremendously. Just when I think neither of them are going to get it together something changes and everything starts to fall into place for them.

Finn tore me apart with his grief. I hurt for this character so much so that I cried right along with him. He is such a powerful character in this book. You cannot help but to fall in love with him. I think Finn hits his own rock bottom in this book and it is so moving to be along for the ride to see him climb his way back up.

Dex has so many demons from his past that he lets them dictate his future and the things that he does in his life. It is a constant struggle for this man to feel secure in his day to day life and he is denying himself the things that he wants that will make him truly happy for the first time in his life.

These two men are strong and have such horrible acts in their pasts that they each have to overcome. With each other’s help may be able to do just that, that is if they both can learn to let go of what they cannot change and move forward together before it is too late. Life is short and neither realizes that it can all change in a blink of an eye, so they need to learn to live, love, and let go before the chance passes them by.

This was such an amazing, powerful read that it will be with me for some time to come. Leigh Carman is truly an author that knows what they are doing and has such an maxing talent. Cannot wait to read more from this author in the future.

Review

FourandHalfStars

Third Mate is the third in the River Wolf Pack series. Unlike the first two books, which focused on one relationship per book, Third Mate follows three relationships, with multiple points of view.
I’ve been a fan of Rebecca’s since reading First Omega, and I’ve absolutely loved the entire series. Third Mate was no exception. Tensions in the River Wolf Pack have been building since book one, and it was interesting to see how that storyline was dealt with, as well as what it meant for Josiah, River, and their daughters. Continuing from book two was the relationship between Jax and David, which somehow managed to get even more complicated before getting better. But I absolutely loved seeing that play out and I was so happy that they were able to find peace and happiness, even if it wasn’t the way they first thought it would be.
The new love story in book three was that of Sam and Leo. I was so pleased to see Sam finally find a place in the pack, especially with someone like Leo. Still, there was a large part of me that wanted Foster to be part of the mix, but I feel like there’s enough grey area that it could be revisited. And if not, then I guess the reader can determine whether Foster found his true mate or if he decided to mate with Leo and Sam.
On top of an excellent plot, the sex scenes were hot as always. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying addition to the River Wolf Pack series.

Excerpt

In Second Alpha, Sam was taken into River Wolf Pack after losing his pack. He roamed the woods for months with his brother until his brother was killed by a trap. In Third Mate, Sam has become enamored with grouchy, sexy alpha, Leo. He has a feeling, though, that Leo is in love with Foster, Sam’s best friend. Shy and emotionally vulnerable, Sam tries to keep to himself, but often Foster won’t let him.

Excerpt from Third Mate:

“What’s cooking?” Foster asked. “It smells really good.”

“Lasagna and garlic bread,” Leo answered. “Also salad.”

“I didn’t think you could cook.”

Sam couldn’t help glancing up at that, and he found the alpha looking sheepish.

“Brooks cooked for me.”

“Of course, I did.” Brooks came in from the kitchen, apron still around his waist. “And I’m staying to eat, too.”

Foster grinned at Brooks. “I’m glad you’re here. Do you know if the library has a book on the health of omega shifters?”

Sam had the urge to kick Foster as Leo turned green eyes on Sam.

“Something wrong with your health?” At Leo’s intense scrutiny, Sam’s heart sped up to the point his vision whited out for a moment, and the next thing he knew, strong arms came around him, lowering him onto soft cushions. When Sam’s eyes fluttered open, he almost stopped breathing to find Leo’s face close to his own. “Are you okay?” Leo asked.

Foster’s worried face appeared over Leo’s shoulder. “He hasn’t been eating right.” Foster looked at Brooks. “Do you have a book on it?”

“I don’t think so,” Brooks said. “You’ve seen everything I have on the subject of shifters of any kind. I’ll add it to the list of books I want to get in the city.”

“You’re going to the city?” Leo asked. Sam had heard that after the kidnapping Brooks had said he’d never go back there.

“No. Xavier will go. Or Malcolm.” Brooks looked down at Sam. “I’ll get you some water.” Sam tried to struggle to a sitting position, but Leo’s big hand on his shoulder stopped him.

“Rest a minute. How long have you been having dizzy spells?”

There was no way Sam was going to tell the alpha he’d collapsed out of sheer excitement just because Leo had looked at him a certain way. “I’ve only had a few recently.”

“Do I have to come over and make you eat every day?” Leo asked, and Sam had a sudden vision of the alpha force-feeding him something that wasn’t food. He swallowed audibly, and caught Foster’s knowing smile over Leo’s shoulder.

“I think he’d like that,” Foster said. Fuck, Sam was going to beat Foster’s ass when they got home. He settled for a scowl for now. It didn’t seem to worry Foster too much. Brooks came back with the water, and Leo helped Sam sit up before moving away.

Foster took his place on the couch. “Feeling better?”

Sam nodded. “I just need to eat, I guess.”

“Well, it’s ready, so let’s dig in,” Brooks said, leading the way into the dining room.

It wasn’t difficult for Sam to eat the entire portion given him; the food was delicious. He tried to resist, though, when Foster pushed seconds onto his plate.

“Come on. Be a good boy and eat it all up.” Foster grinned at Sam, and Sam saw Leo watching him. How could Foster be so oblivious to the alpha’s interest? Sam took a bite of lasagna to appease his friend, but as soon as Foster began talking to Brooks, Sam put his fork down and drank his water instead. That is, until Leo growled. With a sigh, Sam took another bite of lasagna.

“How come you asked us to dinner?” Foster asked Leo. “Sick of the food in the dining hall?”

Leo looked uncomfortable. “Not at all. I just thought…” He glanced at Brooks. “Brooks could use some practice in the kitchen.”

“Oh, well, thanks for inviting us.” Foster shoved a large forkful of salad into his mouth and chewed, missing the eye roll Brooks gave Leo. So Leo had enlisted his friend’s help in impressing Foster. Figured. Sam was just the necessary tag-along.

“Will you guys be staying in the guest bungalow permanently?” Brooks asked Foster and Sam.

“I think River said he was going to have something a little smaller built for us, unless we want our own places,” Foster said. “I think we’ll stay together, though.”

“Oh?” Brooks looked with interest between Foster and Sam. “It’s like that, is it?”

“Like what?”

“He thinks we’re fucking,” Sam said, and Leo dropped his fork onto his plate with a clatter.

Foster laughed. “Oh.” He shrugged.

Sam wondered at the fact he didn’t deny it. Leo looked apoplectic, and Brooks seemed to be trying to hide a smile.

“Dessert anyone?” Brooks asked.

Sam moaned at the very thought of more food. He leaned back in his chair and held his stomach. “I’m stuffed.”

“What did you make?” Foster asked.

“Strawberry shortcake.”

“I definitely want some.” Foster looked at Sam. “We can share.”

Sam had every intention of refusing a bite, but when Foster held out the forkful of fluffy cake, dripping with red strawberry juice and whipped cream, he found himself opening his mouth to take it in, eyes fluttering shut as his lips closed around the fork. When he felt the fork slide from his mouth, he opened his eyes to see three pairs staring at him. “What?” Sam licked whipped cream from his lips.

Leo abruptly stood and mumbled something about having to use the bathroom.

I have read each book in this series, they are all so good. My biggest complaint with this one was the over use of the word ‘darling’, it was too much for me. Ru had a rough start to life but he has made something of himself and his star is still rising. Gray is a huge movie star and is learning that sometimes being a star just isn’t enough. Ru and Gray together are amazing, the chemistry is off the charts! It was a good story and it’s times like these that I wish there were pictures so I could see what the costumes Ru designed looked like. I did enjoy seeing characters from previous books as well.

TWO 4 Star Reviews for Learning to Love Cats by M. K. Mahoney @KMMahoney #MM @PridePublishing

30333869

Title: Learning to Love Cats
Author Name & Publisher: K. M. Mahoney (Pride Publishing)
Publication Date & Length: July 19th, 2016 – 53 Pages

Synopsis

It isn’t exactly a match made in heaven.

Mike isn’t much of an animal lover, but his sister insists every little boy needs a pet. Which is how Mike finds himself sitting in a veterinary office, trying to explain the facts of life to his six-year-old nephew while holding a dead hamster in a shoebox. It’s not one of his finer moments. So of course, that’s when he encounters the cute, shy and utterly lust-worthy Riley Laytham.

Riley isn’t used to guys flirting with him, and he definitely didn’t expect it to happen at the local vet office. In the kennels, no less, surrounded by cats and dogs and under the close scrutiny of one overly inquisitive little boy.

Their first date is a disaster. They have nothing in common, and Riley’s cats seem determined to end the budding relationship before it can get started. For some reason, though, Mike is sticking around despite cat scratches, rampant allergies, and nosy siblings. Now Riley just has to decide if he can make it work with a guy who staunchly declares that he doesn’t like cats.

This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it one I was able to get into it. The blurb sounded interesting and as I began to read I began to think maybe I made a mistake and this might be a DNF for me. It didn’t take me long as long as I thought and I really began to enjoy this book. The authors writing style made it an easy read but what I enjoyed the most was the batter between Mike and Riley. It really was really amusing and I loved how the author was able to really bring out Mike and Riley’s flirtatious side. The secondary characters, especially Charlie, Mike’s nephew were also great. I would definitely read another book by this author.

FourStars

This book was a good quick read with lots of humor, cats, and of course love.

As far as the characters go I really like Mike and Riley. From the moment they met they just seemed to click, well with the exception of the cats which Mike did not really care for. But like with any relationship Mike was willing to compromise and learn to like them because he was not willing to give up Riley.

Riley was skeptical to believe that Mike would stick around for long and when the three little words came into play, Riley was even more skeptical but was willing to give things a try between them.

I think that KM Magoney has a good short story here that is full of humor and was definitely a light hearted read. I really enjoyed it and look forward to future books by KM Mahoney.

4 Star Review for The First Morning After by Marie Lark #MM #Romance

30369913

Title: The First Morning After
Author Name & Publisher: Marie Lark (Loose ID)
Publication Date & Length: June 6, 2016 – 129 Pages

Synopsis

For as long as he can remember, Danny Rojas has wanted all-star first baseman Mitchel Finch. And he could swear that in high school, Mitchel was maybe interested, too. But the baseball team made Danny’s life a living hell back then, and the moment he was able, he got out. Five years later at a friend’s wedding, Danny finally has the chance, and more importantly, the courage, to act on his years-long crush.

Mitchel Finch used to have it so good–a brilliant athlete with lots of friends, a gorgeous girlfriend, and a place of importance in his home town. All he had to do was play it straight. But when an injury ends his baseball career, and his best friend’s wedding reminds him of everything he lost, Mitchel jumps at the opportunity Danny gives him–a night to be honest with himself. A night to finally feel wanted for exactly who he is.

The trouble is, neither of their circumstances has changed by morning. Mitchel is still closeted, and Danny is still the town pariah. Can a connection, building for years and forged in one night, survive the first morning after?

Review

FourStars

This was a good book about being in love with the unobtainable and then getting what you have always wanted. It is a book about facing your fears and standing up for what is right and it is about having a chance to find happiness with the one person who should not forgive you but does.

I enjoyed reading this book about Danny and Mitchel. Danny has a lot of burried hatred for those who made his life so horrible in high school. Even his crush back then did nothing to try and help him with all the bullies that he called team mates. Mitchel could have made a difference in the way that others treated Danny in high school but he was to scared to out himself. I think that Mitchel is scared of his own shadow for the most part.

They had a rough couple of days together and I am not convinced that Mitchel is with Danny because he truly feels something for him or because he cannot have who he really wants which is Drew.

This was a good story and I really hope that there will be a follow up book because I felt that there was a lot of unanswered story line. For instance, do they really get to together and does Mitchel really like Danny or is convenient for him. How does the town take it I and when Mitchel comes out and where do Danny and Mitchel go from here and what does he future hold for them.

So I am hoeing for a book two to answer some of these questions but regardless of whether there will b or not it was still a really good book.

I think I’ve only read 1 book from this author besides this one. The other was Book 3 of the Dark Angels series.
This one is about Zack and Andrew. Zack wanted to be the sub to Andrew but was denied because he was deemed too young. So he decides to just be a dom since no one else will do. Fast forward and these two finally becomes a thing. This book was sweet yet slightly repetitive. The dialogue could sometimes be childish. Well, Zack. The thing that annoyed me more was reading about others and their naughty scenes. I want to read about the main couple, not everyone else. This book was long and if a book is long, it should be about the main couple.

What an emotionally charged this book turned out to be. I could not put this book down it was so amazing.

From the moment Zack and Drew laid eyes on one another you could the chemistry and the connection these two men felt for one another. But it was not an easy road for them to get to where they could be together and love each other in the open. There was obstacles that stood in their way for a couple of years and both men are dang head strong that it took forever for them to get their crap straight and admit to one another how they truly felt about each other.

Zack and Drews road leading to one another was not an easy road and I enjoyed being able to travel that road with them through all their ups and downs and twist and turns. It was an extremely bumpy ride but well worth the bruises along the way. Z Allora has an amazing book on their hands and I hope many others enjoy it as much as I did. I look forward to reading more books by this author in the future. An amazing read!!!!

I absolutely loved this book but it doesn’t surprise as I read books by this author before, which I also loved. The author previous work I’ve read was the Dark Angels series I was a little hesitant because this was much different than those books. I worried needlessly as this was another winner. This was a BDSM story that kept me capture right from the beginning. The BDSM in this story was portrayed in such a manner that was respectful and engaging. This was a very deep and passionate love between Zack and Andrew and I quickly feel in love with them both. There was also some self-discovery in this book as Zack discovered that he can be a Dom or a sub. I would definitely recommend this book to all Z. Allora fans and hope that the author will write more books like these.
