Title: Damon’s Touch
Author Name & Publisher: Dianne Hartsock (Pride Publishing)
Publication Date & Length: February 11, 2016 — SHORT STORY
Damon is used to taking what he wants, whether it’s men to bed or feed upon. He is careful with his conquests, knowing the danger that the village poses to him. It has been a while since he’s fed, and hunger gnaws at him. He needs to feed soon before desire overrides caution and he enters the village, but he comes upon Lacey and his brother Caleb tending to sheep.
For Lacey, the sight of Damon drinking from his brother’s throat should repulse him. Instead, he finds himself oddly aroused; Damon is all his fantasies come true, lovely yet dangerous. When Damon sees Lacey for the first time, he is immediately attracted to him. Taking Lacey as a lover, he blackmails him into acceptance by threatening to kill Caleb.
As Damon’s prisoner, Lacey’s love for his beautiful captor grows. He is confused and ashamed, then angry at Damon for threatening his brother. When Damon sets Caleb free, Lacey is surprised, but relieved, yet, he still wants to be free himself. Damon releases him, but Lacey quickly realizes he still wants his vampire. Lacey has come to love him, but will love be enough to set them both free?
This is a short story about loneliness, longing, and love.
Damon is a vampire who has spent many years only feeding and having unattached, unfeeling sex with those that he feeds off of. That is until he takes two brothers, Caleb and Lacey. Lacey turns out to be what Damon has been missing.
Even though this was a quick read I was able to connect with the story and feel the pain, heartache, and loneliness that Damon felt was unaware of feeling until he met Lacey and all those feelings came tumbling out of him. When he met Lacey I could feel the heat of those intense feeling that Damon immediately felt for him. It was as life came back into Damon’s lonely reclusive existence.
Even though Lacey was not aware of what he was feeling for Damon, it was undeniable that Lacey was extremely attracted to Damon. So much so that he let Damon claim his virginity without so much of any doubt.
