Synopsis

Lee Stanton and Dirk Krause have been seeing each other for a couple of months when they get the bad news: the firehouse they work at will be closed unless they can come up with the money to complete some maintenance and repairs. The union wants to stand and fight. There’s just one problem: the only suggestion for how to raise the money is Lee’s. And Dirk hates it.

Unfortunately, everyone else thinks Lee’s “Chicken and Beefcake” dinner—which they’ll attend in just their hats, boots, and fire pants—is a great idea, and Lee goes ahead with the organizing. But interference from the borough council and low ticket sales threaten to rain on Lee’s parade. If Dirk can’t put aside his pride and stubborn nature for one night, it could cost both him and Lee their jobs—never mind their relationship.

I absolutely loved this addition to the story. We got to see more growth from Dirk as he learns to support and be there for Lee. Lee shows that he’s strong willed and not willing to let Dirk steam roll him.

The way all the men pull together to try to save their station was awesome. It was really special to watch it all come together while seeing out men grow stronger and learn more about each other as they did so.
The narrator did a fabulous job with the story and made it entertaining to listen to.
I can’t wait for the next part of the story!

Audiobook Review: 5 Stars for Redemption by Fire (By Fire #1) by Andrew Grey #MM #Firefighters @AndrewGreyBooks

CoverTitle: Redemption by Fire (By Fire #1)
Author Name & Publisher: Andrew Grey (Dreamspinner Press)
Publication Date & Length: May 2, 2012 – 96 pgs

Synopsis

Dirk Krause is an asshole of the first degree. His life is a hell of his own making, and he makes everyone around him just as miserable. When he’s injured on the job while fighting a fire, he’s nearly unbearable to the hospital staff, and of course no one from his unit cares enough to visit.

Lee Stockton is the new guy at the station, so he gets saddled with the job of bringing Dirk a sympathy bouquet from the guys at the firehouse. To Dirk’s surprise, Lee sees through him like a pane of glass and doesn’t take any of his crap. Lee’s determined to get Dirk to stop being a dick just to push everyone away. When their fighting turns to fucking, will the fireworks shine brightly on a possible relationship or leave them with nothing but ashes?

**AUDIOBOOK REVIEW**

I picked this book up because.. HELLO, firemen.. However, I was really surprised at how much I ended up liking the characters because of who they were outside of their fireman personas. They were real and I loved them.
Dirk was a jerk, but Lee was the perfect match for him and getting through his hard exterior.
It was short but there was some action with fires, some sexy scenes and the storm from hell all wrapped into it along with one character growing by leaps and bounds while the other one helped him along the path.
The narrator was nice to listen to as he brought the book to life.

Review

ThreeStarUgh, I really, really wanted to like this book. I was so excited to read it; I heard so many good things about it. The first 75% of the book I was ready to bail, several times. I get the whole 9/11 thing, the details, the aftermath, the wanting to remember and honor, but there was too much. I didn’t want to read about that, I wanted to read about Griff and Dante. I loved the friendship and bond between Griff and Dante. Griff the gentle giant and Dante the sassy ladies’ man. There was a lot of monologue in this book which was boring as heck to me. I want dialogue. It took way too long to get to the good part of the book, which was about 75% in, as I said I wanted to bail but didn’t and for the last 25% of the book I am glad I didn’t. The sexual tension and sex scenes were hot. I just missed the romance aspect of things and wish there was more about the relationship after they finally admitted everything. If the rest of the book was as good as the last part I would have given it 5 stars, but it wasn’t.

AuthorBio

Damon Suede grew up out-n-proud deep in the anus of right-wing America, and escaped as soon as it was legal. He has lived all over and along the way, he’s earned his crust as a model, a messenger, a promoter, a programmer, a sculptor, a singer, a stripper, a bookkeeper, a bartender, a techie, a teacher, a director… but writing has ever been his bread and butter. He has been happily partnered for over a decade with the most loving, handsome, shrewd, hilarious, noble man to walk this planet.

Though new to gay romance, Damon is an award-winning author who has been writing for print, stage, and screen for two decades, which is both more and less glamorous than you might imagine. He’s won some awards, but he counts his blessings more often: his amazing friends, his demented family, his beautiful husband, his loyal fans, and his silly, stern, seductive Muse who keeps whispering in his ear, year after year.
