~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Inked Rainbow Reads Review Team~

At first I had a little trouble getting into the book but once I finally got into it, I couldn’t put it down. Gideon was a famous chef until tragedy struck. Now he owns and runs a restaurant. Eddie Tripp is this cute ginger who is newest, hottest, up and coming chef who now works for Gideon. These two guys are complete opposites but as well all know sometimes opposites attract. I loved the cat and mouse game between the two; it didn’t carry on too long like some books do. I especially love Eddie’s housemates; they seem like so much fun! This was a sweet love story that also dealt with a tragedy and how to recover from it. I can’t wait for the next book in the series and hopefully we get an update in the next book on how Eddie and Gideon are doing.

Ms. Mac Nicol blew my socks off with this book. I didn’t think it was possible to make a sort of insta love story work so well… Well, I didn’t feel that it was so insta love since they’d been lusting after each other for a bit, but the characters felt that it was moving quickly between them so who am I to argue?
Normally I don’t particularly care for secondary characters but the way they were written into the story was excellent because they supported the relationship that was building between the main two characters.
Both men had their own issues to deal with in and outside of the relationship, but they supported and helped each other through them and dealt with them in such a great way it really felt like the characters were real and I cheered for them to not only make it through everything, but come out as the victors (i.e. the loss of senses).
I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the next book in this series as I’m sure it will be just as captivating and intriguing as this one was.

Susan Mac Nicol is a self confessed bookaholic, an avid watcher of videos of sexy pole dancing men, self confessed geek and nerd and in love with her Smartphone. This little treasure is called ‘the boyfriend’ by her long suffering husband, who says if it vibrated, there’d be no need for him. Susan hasn’t had the heart to tell him there’s an app for that…

She is never happier than when sitting in the confines of her living room/study/on a cold station platform scribbling down words and making two men fall in love. She is a romantic at heart and believes that everything happens (for the most part) for a reason. She likes to think of herself as a ‘half full’ kinda gal, although sometimes that philosophy is sorely tested.

Lover of walks in the forest, theatre productions, dabbling her toes in the cold North Sea and the vibrant city of London where you can experience all four seasons in a day , she is a hater of pantomime (so please don’t tar and feather her), duplicitous people, bigotry and self righteous idiots.

In an ideal world, Susan Mac Nicol would be Queen of England and banish all the bad people to the Never Never Lands of Wherever -Who Cares. As that’s never going to happen, she contents herself with writing her HEA stories and pretending, that just for a little while, good things happen to good people.

NEW RELEASE: Buzz & Blow – Shave & Shimmer – Fade & Fluff by Alex Carreras @AlexCWrites #MM #Paranormal #Fantasy

Sangre

Title: Buzz & Blow — Shave & Shimmer — Fade & Fluff
Author Name: Alex Carreras
Publication Date & Length: May 20, 2015 — 200 pages

Synopsis

In the city of Sangre, Florida, vampires and humans coexist happily until one ancient and powerful vampire decides to mess up the entire thing. The hairdressers at Everlasting Salon who service vampires and humans alike decide to face the threat that lands on their doorstep enlisting the barbers across the street for a fight to the finish. Chaos ensues when fists fly, but it’s not all bad when old flames reunite and new relationships take root and grow. Between the clandestine meetings and vigilante justice, the vampires find love in unexpected companions, hoping to get some TLC along the way.

Excerpt

Asher Riots unlocked the door to Everlasting, the salon he had worked at since arriving in the Sunshine State.

Normally the blazing sun wasn’t a vampire’s best friend, but after spending a hundred plus years in the northern United States, it was time for balmy breezes to warm his chilled skin, and soft, sandy beaches to tread on when the moon was full and high in the night sky, no matter what the season.

Stepping through the threshold, he inhaled the distinctive scents of the salon that made his senses tingle with excitement. The familiar smells of the hairsprays, gels, and lotions made him thankful that he had chosen this profession before he became what he was today, a member of the undead. His parents had coiffed the elite of Paris society, and their talents and attention to detail had been passed on to their son who possessed the same talents it took to excel in the beauty industry.

But times and styles had changed, leaving Asher longing for the days of platinum powdered wigs worn by courtesans, instead of bold, garish colors embraced by America’s youth. Releasing a sigh, he flipped on the neon Open sign that hung in the window. Looking out onto the street, he noticed that the barbershop across the way was still closed. Although attractive, the barbers were bad news, and they attracted similar clientele that made Asher’s skin crawl, but excited his lust for rough trade. He never admitted this to his boss, Jerrod, but Tory, his co-worker, suspected as much, judging by the smirk on his glossed lips whenever he caught Asher gazing at the comings and goings of the barbershop during the slow periods at the salon. Tory liked to play dumb, but he was anything but. Asher suspected that Tory preferred it that way because less would be expected of him. He was only fooling himself. Jerrod would never have hired the twink with a penchant for all things shiny, if he believed that was true. Jerrod only took on vampires who showed potential. And if that potential wasn’t realized, they’d be asked to leave. Many had passed through the doors of Everlasting, but only Asher had withstood the test of time.

“They’re in there.” Jerrod strutted through the door on a gust of wind, his deep baritone reverberating in Asher’s chest. “Can’t you smell them?”

“I can smell something, all right,” Asher mumbled under his breath before turning to see the man who had saved him from his own self-loathing when he arrived in Sangre, Florida, years ago. “And it smells like someone is wearing too much cologne.” Asher eyed his friend’s black-from-head-to-toe outfit. It was very hairdresser. And very vampire.

“Funny,” Jerrod grumbled, shooting a look at Asher. “I can sense something’s up but I can’t figure out what, exactly. Have you heard any tongues wagging in the street?”

“Nope,” Asher returned. “But I don’t usually listen to gossip. Ask Tory. He’d know if there is anything to know.”

Jerrod chuckled. “He’s late,” he said without looking at the clock on the wall. “What are we going to do about that guy?”

Just then, the man in question swished through the door, his strut better than any super model’s. “Are you two talking about me again?” Tory made it to the middle of the salon and twirled. “What do you think? It was a gift from an admirer.”

Review

ThreeandHalfStarsThis was a very sweet, short and sensual piece. I Loved the set up, butch and femme, and relationship but no relationship. It was written well in terms of feeling and action. I did struggle through some parts in figuring out who was who and mixing up pronouns. A good editor should be able to fix that.

This is a very short read. I think it took me all of twenty minutes to get through it, so it’s hard to write a review without spoilers. It’s steamy, it’s endearing and it was well worth my time.

I downloaded this book off Smashwords on a free promotion.

FourandHalfStarsI really enjoy this series, so I was glad to read another installment. From the first page, I was sold on Will and Josh. They have scorching chemistry—hot sex combined with deep love. It’s really intense.

I loved the mystery/serial killer storyline. It’s fast-paced and absorbing, with clues spread throughout. I tend to prefer lots of plot, and for such a short, erotic work, this delivered a great story.

My only hesitations were the way the author characterized rape as a crime of “sexual frustration” and for an unclear bisexual male trope (which I can’t spell out because of spoilers). I did cringe at both of those. However, I don’t think the plot actually relied on those elements, so I was still able to enjoy the book.

For great action (of both the sexy and crime varieties), I definitely recommend this one.

Title: An Unexpected Win
Author Name: Jenna Byrnes
Publication Date: February 27, 2015

Synopsis

A game of poker sets the stage to change three men’s lives forever.

Carter Perry is playing the poker hand of his life. The game is no limit Texas hold ’em, and he has a hand that no self-respecting player could toss. Unfortunately, the pot is growing steeper by the minute and Carter’s wallet is nearly empty. He’s had a few drinks and when he runs out of money he decides to offer up the one thing of value he’s got left—his submissive. For one night.

Trey Mitchell’s been watching the game from his knees, at the side of the table with the other subs. He knew going into the game that the stakes were high, but his Master is a professional poker player and he has never dreamt that the man might lose against a table of amateurs. Tension is thick as the hands are revealed. Carter goes ballistic when he loses, but hands over Trey’s leash to the handsome, hunky Native American who goes by the name of ‘Hawk’.

Yuma Nighthawk has his eye on Trey all night long and for him, the poker game couldn’t have ended better. Assuring Carter that he’ll take care of his sub in accordance with the rules set out by the Rose & Thorn Society, he instructs his own submissive, Kel, to make sure a drunken Carter gets home safely. He has other plans, which include ravishing Trey and hatching a plot to make the man his own.

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of ménage in a polyamorous relationship between three men, references to TPE and fisting.

ThreeStar

This is completely filthy smut. It is hot, imaginative and pretty sexy.

This is the story of a retired pornstar with an enormous cock. It is also the story of a professional gambler with a drinking problem and a sub named Trey, or trey or Shelby… who may or may not live in a cage like a hampster.

In the third chapter, a ten inch cock with a girth “the size of a slender man’s wrist” is introduced and this sets the tone for the rest of the story.

Carter thinks he’s a dom until he meets Hawk’s giant penis. But Trey/trey/Shelby has a talented mouth and Carter and Hawk must find a way to share.

It is impossible to take this book seriously. Yes, there is a rudimentary storyline, but in all honesty, this isn’t far above the pizza boy’s special delivery on the porn-romance continuum.

If you aren’t easily offended and you want to escape from reality for a couple of hours with graphic menage sex scenes, this is your book.

Book 2, story takes off right where book 1 ended.  Love how it was flawless and you didn’t have to presume what happens. Andy turned into an awesome, caring man to Cody. He helped Cody try to understand what he was feeling.  It was so sweet how they decided to hang out but didn’t want to call it a date.  Absolutely loved the movie theater scene, it was adorable how they ended up spending time together.

Sibley Jackson has captured the romance of two eager, but one not  yet out man, perfectly.  A very light hearted romance that’s quick to read, but very enjoyable.
It’ll be nice to see where this non dating relationship (chuckling) leads to. Looking forward to the next installment.

The drama of humanity. We live, die, love, hate, win and lose in a never-ending variety of ways. Often those ways are heart-wrenching. Other times they are not.

Why do people make the choices they do? Why do some abuse power? How do the powerless learn to survive? Why do a few dare to be different, while others conform—and why are so many disturbed by those who don’t?These are the questions that have always haunted author Caddy Rowland. Those questions keep her pounding away at her keyboard, creating novels showcasing the sublime joy and bitter tragedy of being human.

Caddy has always been a nonconformist. She likes to push the proverbial envelope when it comes to characterization and world building. Heroes have warts; villains have soft spots. Main characters don’t always learn their lessons because all too often we don’t, either. There isn’t always a happy ending, but sometimes there is. Otherwise she’d be predictable.

She writes for readers who like to think and feel; who like their stories to be raw, graphic, unpredictable, “real” and sometimes brutal. For readers who like their boundaries challenged; to be shown how rarely life decisions are truly black and white, but instead shades of grey.

Think of a carnival midway with books instead of rides. She asks you make sure you’re the minimum height if you plan on riding alone. You must also leave prejudices and inhibitions behind the entry gate. If you can’t, Rowland’s reads might be a tad much for you. Don’t worry. There are plenty of safer reads out there. Just step out of the line and find a more appropriate book for your reading enjoyment.

No, Caddy Rowland’s novels aren’t for everyone. But then again, they just might be for you.

Publication Date & Length: December 18, 2013 — 64 pgs

Synopsis

But when some new information comes to light about Terry’s birth and his place in the family, the whole game changes. Suddenly the relationship isn’t so impossible, and things soon begin to get hot and heavy.

Review

FourStars

I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.

Lucy Felthouse portrayed a very close knit family that celebrates everything together.  The story begins mid struggle for two cousins, Terry & Justin, who love each other on a romantic level, but social norms dictate they should not feel that way about each other.

I thought the author did an amazing job in portraying how Terry was feeling – his inner struggle with wanting more of a romantic relationship with someone he was related to. I wish we could have known more from Justin’s point of view, however, Felthouse was great at creating an amazing family for both characters.

You see that Terry has very perceptive parents – so perceptive that they risk a lot in revealing long held secrets to both Justin and Terry. Those secrets held the power to either heal or destroy the family, but because of the love they felt for their son, Terry’s parents were able to not only ensure their son’s happiness, but also their nephew’s too.

The story was short, the sex was hot and the family was one any person would be lucky to have.
