Title: Dom of Ages (Collars and Cuffs #7)
Author Name & Publisher: K.C. Wells and Parker Williams (Dreamspinner Press)
Publication Date & Length: December 21, 2015 – 264 pgs

Synopsis

Eli may only be thirty, but he has had enough of pretend submissives. He wants a sub who truly knows how to submit. So when he spies Jarod in a BDSM club, everything about the man screams submission. It doesn’t matter that Jarod has to be about twenty years older than Eli. What does age matter, anyway? Not one to miss an opportunity, Eli moves fast and takes Jarod home with him, without thinking things through. All he can see is what he’s always wanted – a sub who wants to serve.

Jarod spent twenty-eight years with his Master, until Fate took Phillip from him. Four years on, and Jarod is still lost, so when a young Dom takes charge, Jarod rolls with it and finds himself serving again. But he keeps waiting for the shoe to drop. Because there’s going to come a point when Eli realizes he’s a laughing stock in the club. Who would want to be seen with a fifty-year-old sub? And when the moment of humiliation does arrive, Jarod flees. He’d be better off with Phillip.

Despite several missteps, what happens forces Eli to understand that Jarod needs him as much as he needs Jarod. But he knows in order to find happiness, they need friends who will understand. A friend keeps telling him Collars & Cuffs is what they need. Eli finally goes to visit, refusing to risk Jarod being hurt again, and finds everything he’s heard about the club is true. When he takes Jarod, he watches as his sub is met with open arms. As they settle in to their new life, Eli begins to see things differently. And he dares to think he can have it all. Until the phone call that shows him he didn’t realize what he could lose.

FiveStars

KC Wells never disappoints me when it comes to reading Collar and Cuffs series. I have read every book so far in this series and I absolutely love this series. This book is no different. It was an amazing book. Much like the other books I found myself laughing, crying, and rooting for the characters in this book.

Jarod is so heartbroken when this book begins from losing his former master to an airplane crash four years earlier. Being fifty he thinks that he will not find another Dom who will want more then a night here and there or others that will make fun of him for his age. Jarod in my opinion does not realize just how strong he is. Being a submissive and left without a Dom, most subs would have given up on life. But Jarod keeps going even though he is not living. I found that once Jarod met Eli, you could not tell that Jarod was older then Eli by such an age difference. Jarod rarely ever lets his age come between them with the exception of when Eli recieved the phone call that he never expected or hoped to get.

Eli is an amazing Dom. Yes I believe at first he gets things wrong but he gets his head out of his butt and his true nature comes out in the way that he tries to protect Jarod and in the way that he cares for him and loves him. Eli does not let the fact that Jarod has money come between them and he does not let the age difference come between them either. Eli is an amazing individual and I think that Eli and Jarod are made for one another.

As said earlier in my review KC Wells is an amazing author and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. I know that it will be just as amazing as the others, if not better.

Excerpt

Jarod

I eyed the other subs enviously as they preened for the Doms, each hoping to spend an hour in a private room with one of them. I felt like a kid again, always the last one picked for sports. The looks I got ranged from amused to withering. I couldn’t believe I’d subjected myself to this. What was worse, I’d actually expected a different outcome.

I sighed deeply. Who was I fooling? I wasn’t twenty anymore. Hell, I wasn’t even twice that.

The Doms wanted someone younger, someone trainable, or, failing that, someone who could give them a hot fuck. I had talents in that department from the many years I had served Master Phillip, but since he died, I’d been a submissive who had no one to serve.

“And what are you supposed to be?” a voice near my ear snapped.

“My name is Jarod, Sir,” I answered quietly, my heart thumping so loudly I was certain he could hear it.

There was a low growl. “I didn’t ask your name. I asked what you think you’re doing here.”

Heaven help me, I told him the truth. “Searching for someone to serve, Sir.”

His braying laugh mocked me. When he saw I was serious, he sobered. “No one is going to take you. No master is going to have you.” Then in a softer voice he added, “Go home. You don’t belong here.”

He was right, of course. It was time I admitted that to myself. This was a world that wasn’t like the one I’d been part of. When Master Phillip and I went to the clubs, there was an understanding.

People were respectful, even if they weren’t interested in whatever was going on. This club was awful. It was full of young men strutting around like peacocks, each trying to show off more plumage than the next.

It was time to stop kidding myself. There was no reason for me to stay any longer. I’d be on my way, and then everyone would probably have a good laugh at my expense. At least in that, I would have made someone happy. I was about to stand when I felt a hand on my shoulder and smelled the leather.

“What is it you want?”

His breath smelled of mint. It wafted over my face and made my stomach clench with nerves.

“To serve, Sir.”

Silence. I waited for it, the inevitable comeback, the jeer, the insult….

“That’s a very good answer, boy. Very good indeed. Stand and turn.”

I rose to my feet and faced the man whose voice gave me butterflies. When I saw him, my heart dropped and crushed them all to dust. The man was handsome, I would never say otherwise, but he was a child. I wanted a Master to serve, not to be a toy for a youngster who would grow bored with me the next time a pretty pony boy pranced by.

“What’s your name?” he asked.

“Jarod, Sir,” I replied, cursing my cracking voice.

He held out his hand and took mine. His grip was firm and warm, and a jolt of electricity ran through me at his touch.

“It’s an honor to meet you. My name is Eli.”

His name was like a caress. There was a gentleness to his voice that had me feeling as though everything might be okay after all. I tried to be surreptitious about it as I looked him over, and he laughed.

“You don’t need to hide anything from me. If you want to look at me, go ahead.”

I raised my head and marveled at how his green eyes shone in the bright lights. His short, spiky hair was dark, but with the colored lights flashing, it was hard to tell what color it was. I had the insane urge to run my fingers through it. He was about my height, and the way those black leather pants clung to his muscular thighs, I really wanted to see his legs. He was slender, but with good definition: it wasn’t a six-pack, but I wouldn’t have minded running my hands over it.

“Aren’t you a bit old for this, Jarod?” His voice was deep, and my skin pebbled at his tone.

With a shock I realized he wasn’t mocking me; he was genuinely curious.

Once more I felt compelled to speak the truth. “No, Sir. I-I don’t believe I am.”

His fingers traced along my neck, running gently across my throat. I swallowed hard. It was so different from the treatment I’d received from everyone else here.

“Would you like to play?”

And with those words my heart dropped. “No. I’d rather not.” I was shocked to hear the words come from my mouth. Never before had I told a Sir no, but it seemed to be a night for honesty.

Of all the times to be honest, though…. I remained still, awaiting his imminent departure.

“Good. I’m glad. I’m not here to play either.” He was quiet for a moment. “I want you to come home with me. Would that be okay?”

My breath caught. What the hell? He was so different from everyone else in this club. My heartbeat sped up. “Yes, please.” My damn voice squeaked again.

I felt the smooth leather against my throat. “This doesn’t come off until I say so. Is this agreed?”

“Yes.”

“Yes, what?”

I cursed myself for forgetting. “Yes, Sir.”

Kate misses her bar exams after becoming ill and her gran suggests she go away to her cabin for a couple of months to recuperate and study for the next round of exams.  Her mother expects her to become a hot-shot lawyer, marry a suitable man and take her place in society.  Kate begins to question these expectations, especially when she meets Chris, her lesbian next door neighbour who wakens in her a craving she never knew she had.
This was an amazing story with two very likeable main characters, who were both fighting against strict rules they had set up for themselves.  Kate was going to go along with her mother’s wishes and end up miserable for the rest of her life and Chris had vowed never to fall in love.  When Chris initiates Kate in the ways of lesbian love in the sexiest of ways she sees that there is no turning back.  The problem is she wants a relationship and not just sex, whereas Chris has spent her whole adult life avoiding love and enjoying a very varied sex life, with parties, many partners and a bit of risk.  Would either of them be able to change enough to be happy together?  Finding out the answer was very hot, delicious and truly fascinating.  Julie Blair has a wonderful imagination and put it to good use in the steamy scenes between Kate and Chris.  I was constantly surprised.
The other characters in the story were well written too.  Kate’s Gran, Katherine,  was a gem and without her things could have been very different.  She was the catalyst in the tale and I loved her.  Kate’s mother was an awful woman – manipulative, single-minded and immensely annoying.  But we always need a baddie! In this book we had two as Nicole, Kate’s college friend was an evil, calculating bitch and a thorn in Chris’s side.  The lovers had to fight against their own expectations of themselves as well as that of other people in their circles.  Homophobia just under the surface was bad enough, but they were also fighting the bi-phobia of some friends.
This was a beautiful love story between two people that just had to be together.  Their journey together was full of tension and worry as well as some very sexy moments.  A well deserved 5 Stars.

I must admit I found this novel to be a bit of a dichotomy,  I couldn’t decide if it was a passionate romance or an erotic affair.
In the end, for me, the loving relationship between the two women won through. Ms Blair’s clever interpretation and articulate writing of the growing relationship between two very different women was a pleasure to read.
The ending finally tipped the scales on the romantic front. An emotional and at times steamy novel well worth reading.

FourandHalfStars

This was a really nice story. Kate has her life planned out, not ever really realizing that the plans aren’t actually her own. Everything is going according to her mother’s plans, and she goes along with things because that’s how she’s been trained to think. Until a life-threatening illness forces her out of her planned life. To get herself back on track, she takes her grandmother’s advice to recuperate and study at her Gran’s cabin outside the city. While there, she meets Chris, a butch landscaper who knows who she is and what she wants. She doesn’t want a messy relationship, so she focuses on casual sex with many different partners. This way feelings aren’t involved. The two strike up an unexpected friendship based on small home improvement projects and a love of old movies. Kate decides to enlist this Lesbian Casanova to help her explore and learn about her own sexuality. In the ensuing ‘lessons’, both women find that emotions aren’t easy to keep from having. Now they have to fight for their relationship because Kate comes from money, and affluence, and this is not acceptable in her social circles. When Kate’s mother learns of their relationship, things come to a screeching halt, and it looks like it might be over. Kate has to find the courage to stand against the pressure of the ‘perfect’ life, and Chris has to accept that she’s worthy of someone she thinks is out of her league. I love the story line, and like that Blair has included some exploration of BDSM and power dynamics, but accurately explaining how it works and how to make it safe without too much fuss. I really enjoyed the book.

First off, I have to admit I read Ed & Marchant before reading this book, so I knew basically how things were going to end up between Frankie & Al but I wanted to know how they got there. This was a good story, we see how they meet and end up falling for each other. Frankie met Al a few times before they finally started seeing each other, but the first time they met he didn’t remember until Al reminded him of a drunken night he had. These two are so sweet together, there wasn’t much action between the sheets but you still felt the chemistry and the desire. I am looking forward to reading more of the series.

If you have read previous books in this series you know who Jordan is and how fun loving and always moving he is. Jordan and his sub Mike were attacked one night, Mike didn’t make it. Jordan is barely surviving, he is the shell of the man he used to be. Jordan’s friends can’t stand to see him like this anymore so Marchant hires Rhys to take care of him, bring him back to life. Jordan hates the idea but gives in because his friends make him. Rhys is actually really good for him and even Jordan can tell an improvement after a while. Rhys knew Mike and now he wants to know Jordan and help him. It was a long process but Rhys brings Jordan back to life and in the process falls in love with him and wants to be Jordan’s sub. Jordan isn’t ready for that and is letting Rhys go, until tragedy strikes once again. This was was a beautiful love story and  I hope there is more to the series so we can see these guys again.

This is my favorite book in the series so far. Tony is depressed and lonely, he wants a Dom but no one seems to want him, he is too big, too old and too hairy, more bear like that sub. When a chance meeting on the freeway happens Tony finds Leo attractive but thinks he is straight and has a family. When Jordan and Marchant push Tony to call Leo and go on a date he is hesitant. Leo isn’t a Dom but he is a top and he thinks he can handle Tony and boy does he! This book has more sex than the previous books in the series and it is hot. These two guys are so good and perfect for each other, but Tony isn’t so sure. These two have things to work out and with everyone in their corner they can’t help but make it work.

First off, I have to admit I read this book before reading Frankie & Al. I felt I was missing a little backstory so I instantly read Frankie & Al’s story and then Ed & Marchant made more sense. So I suggest you read the series in order unlike myself. I honestly hated Ed and didn’t think I could ever change my mind about him. Marchant is a saint and a great Dom, he knew just want to do to make things work with Ed and how to bring Ed out of his shell. The book wasn’t long but it was a good story and I can’t wait to hear more about this characters in other books.

Unfortunately, this book just didn’t really do it for me.  It had an intriguing plot and some twists in there that I didn’t expect, but the story as a whole was not my favorite.

Camille was almost too docile throughout the story and despite his family shunning him, etc. he never really learned to live on his own.  He was constantly checking to make sure everyone around him was OK, but never really looking out for himself.  His character was just blah for me.

Then you have Damien.  While I liked his character more, again, he was almost too predictable.

The chemistry between the two was not great for me.  Sure, they had sex, but I never truly felt that they had a great connection.  It was a forced connection that kind of turned in to something more, but not in an organic way for me.

Sadly, I did not really like this one.

Camille started out as a very pathetic vampire. He couldn’t even drink blood from a live person cause it made him queasy to kill anyone. Just as he was about to starve to death, he meets Damien, who is an assassin. I actually liked this story. The romance between Camille and Damien wasn’t shoved at our face, but gradually happened.
Camille made Damien softer, and Damien made Camille stronger. They complimented each other well. The plot was so-so, but I was drawn to the couple enough to ignore that it wasn’t a problem. They were certainly hot together. The ending kinda sucked for me though cause I feel like they didn’t get a HEA. They were together in the end, but it was a “happy for now” feeling.
