CoverTitle: Grand Opening (Kiss of Leather #4)
Author Name & Publisher: Morticia Knight (Pride Publishing)
Publication Date & Length: August 23, 2016 – 182 pgs

Synopsis

The men of Kiss of Leather celebrate a beginning, but will the price be another ending?

The grand opening of Kiss of Leather draws near and the pressure is on to make sure everything is completed in time. Master Josh is a perfectionist, so no detail is too small in order to enhance the quality of the prestigious club they’ve all worked so tirelessly on. Unfortunately, the endless demands on Josh’s time have caused him to forget the more important things in life.

David’s love for Master Josh is overpowering at times, but lately, that love has been constantly tested. How can a sub in a fulltime D/s relationship serve a Master who’s never there? As things continue to deteriorate between him and Josh, David wonders if maybe his Master has tired of having to care for a sub full time.

By the time the grand opening arrives, Josh and David seem to have worked out their differences and David is hopeful for their future. The emotional collaring ceremony between Gavin and Kyle is a beautiful reminder of the power of love. But when an unexpected party crasher intrudes on the evening’s festivities, the men are reminded that there are still too many unanswered questions related to Corey’s kidnapping.

More than ever, the men of Kiss of Leather need to stand strong together. Will Josh and David be able to do the same?

Good series and a good addition to the series. I love each couple in this series and I am glad we get to see a bit of each of them in every book. I adore David and I felt all his emotions and really connected with him. Gavin has always been a favorite of mine and he just proves to be an all-around amazing person. I love Marshall and Stone too….holy hotness. I do enjoy the elements of angst and drama with the whole mystery surrounding the kidnapping. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I have read all of the books in this series and have enjoyed them all.  This didn’t disappoint, but it was definitely not what I expected.

I really enjoyed the dynamic of this story.  It was a different side to the relationships that I was used to reading about.

David and Josh are an ideal couple.  They seem to have it all.  Josh’s business is seeming to take off – he has been investing all of this time and energy in to making his club succeed.

Then you have David.  He’s the sweet, tender sub who only wants to make Josh happy.  He’s stuck in this limbo throughout the story where the reader doesn’t know if he’s coming or going.  It is a very good dynamic – it kind of shows the other side of a 24/7 relationship.

The chemistry is amazing throughout the story – it’s not necessarily the sexual chemistry, but the relationship chemistry is intense.  You want to believe both characters – to have them succeed and make it – however, with everything that’s going on, we don’t know if Josh and David will truly make it through this impasse they’ve seemed to come to.

Knight keeps you guessing and the resolution is one that I absolutely loved.  It should the true depth of devotion and love within their relationship.

Keep them coming!

3.5 Stars for Safeword by Samantha Cayto #MM #Romance @PridePublishing @Samanthacayto

CoverTitle: Safeword
Author Name & Publisher: Samantha Cayto (Pride Publishing)
Publication Date: August 23, 2016

Synopsis

A dangerous game turns into unexpected pleasure…

Carter’s dream of running from his abusive family into the arms of the perfect Dom has been shattered. Virtually enslaved by a vicious arms dealer, he has to submit to any man his master gives him to.

Undercover agent Damien Crow is close to putting away the arms dealer he’s been hunting for years. All he has to do to gain the man’s trust is ‘play’ with the pretty boy with the frightened eyes and alluring corset piercing down his back. Being straight and not a practicing Dom, he has doubts he can pull off the effort. One look at his playmate changes his mind. The stakes are high, and he must put on a good show.

At first, Carter assumes Damien is just another brutal Dom to survive. But the big, brooding man reignites his passion and gives him something Carter hasn’t had in years—a safeword. It might be his last chance to enjoy being a sub and he embraces the role no matter what the consequences.

ThreeandHalfStarsHmmm, where to start with this… I would say that it was well written, but so short that it made it difficult to really develop anything.  This seemed almost like a teaser to a larger story.

I think that Damien was successful as a Dom, but his reluctance was somewhat strange.  If he had been undercover as long as it seemed, he would have had to play this persona more than just the once, I would think.  However, it seemed that this was his first time – they talked about his crash course and implement schooling…

Then you have Carter – he just seemed meek.  There really wasn’t much to his character other than his complete submission because he knows what’s in store for him.

Overall, while this was short and just a taste of what I believe this author is capable of, I think that if you’re not used to BDSM writing, this would not be the book to start with.  There are too many holes and it doesn’t offer much other than the one scene.

This is actually the first book that I have read in this series and even though it is book two I don’t personally think that it had to be read in order. It was not confusing on who everyone was or anything. I will go back and read book one but only because I really want to know more about James and Seth.

That being said, I cannot wait to read more book in this series. This book was so amazing that I could not put it down. It was full of pride, fear, hurt, mystery, love, and acceptance. This book had so many emotions running through it and Tempeste was able to bring those emotions through to the reader with ease.

Chase is one of those characters that at first is hard to get a good read on his feelings. He tried to be so strong for all of those around him that he loves but does not let his pain out in front of many. Those that he does confide in, is the ones that he has given everything too. And eventually even after their off to not so good start, includes Rhys.

Rhys knows at first meeting that Chase is the one he wants but is still dealing with the betrayal of his ex so he pushed Chase away in the worst way. Which was a mistake he regretted almost immediately. After much needed making up, they finally get together and that is when the real mystery begins with Chases ex being murdered.

Tempeste did an amazing job on this book and has completely hooked me on the series with the amazing writing. Cannot wait to read the next book!!!

3 Star and 4 Star Reviews for Reaction Shot by Parker Avrile #MM #BDSM

Author Name & Publisher: Parker Avrile (Paris April Press)
Publication Date & Length: June 23, 2016 – 152 pgs

Synopsis

A BDSM Thriller

What happens in the dungeon doesn’t stay in the dungeon.

My sex stuff wouldn’t make my father happy, but the feds didn’t mind it at all. In fact, the official story was that I was the ex-boytoy of some now-disgraced Chinese billionaire. The gay wasn’t an issue. Even the BDSM wasn’t an issue. The issue was money-laundering. As long as they saw me as just another party boy, I was safe.

Or so I thought. Then somebody set me up for a kinky scene in Vegas with a guy who turned out to be Hollywood’s latest A-list action star. Lyndon’s gay and ready to play, with a strong taste for dominating younger men. I hate to admit it, but I was attracted to the arrogant son of a you-know-what almost immediately.

Of course, it’s all fun and games until we find out somebody’s got our whole twisted encounter on video…

Reaction Shot is a complete 150-page short novel including all four episodes of this gay male BDSM romantic suspense thriller– Audition, Camera, Action, and Cut.

Lyndon and Mr. Shelby were a strange couple.  I didn’t particularly like either of them throughout the story and I felt that their relationship was just as equally strange.  Not only was Lyndon somewhat entitled, but he was also a less than fantastic Dom.
Mr. Shelby…where to start with him?  I was very confused at the beginning of this story as to what his role was exactly.  Shale is kind of the “whomever you want me to be”, type, but in reality, he’s submissive…I think…
Overall, they had some decent sex, but their relationship is very truncated – we only see snippets of it and what we do see, there is not much development going on.
This was not your typical BDSM story, which was both good and bad.  While I understand what the author was trying to do, the execution, however, needed some work.  This was just an OK story for me and although it had immense potential, I just couldn’t get there.

This book was not what I was expecting in the least. If I had to name a category for this book I would call it BDSM but more on the dark side of things that is for sure.

Lyndon is an actor but he is also a Dom. Out of the blue he unexpectedly meets Shale Shelby. The two are far from a normal couple or any kind of couple at all in my opinion. What binds these two together is their mutual love for BDSM and the fact someone recorded them together to ruin both of them.

The more time together they spent the worse the videos got and if released it would ruin Lyndon’s career. So Shale does what he must to save Lyndon and it comes with a major cost that neither one of them may never recover from.

This book was in my opinion on the dark side of reading. It was interesting to see the twist and turns the plot of the story took and I did enjoy the read. I would only suggest this book to others that like BDSM for one but also one who does not mind the darker side of blackmail.

THREE 5 Star and ONE 4 Star Reviews for Endings and Beginnings (Collars & Cuffs #8) by K.C. Wells & Parker Williams (AUTHOR INTERVIEW) #MM #BDSM

EndingsandBeginningsFSTitle: Endings and Beginnings (Collars & Cuffs #8)
Author Name & Publisher: K.C. Wells & Parker Williams  (Dreamspinner Press)
Publication Date & Length: July 18, 2016 – 121,429 Words

Synopsis

In all his relationships, Darren Fielding never found the level of intimacy he witnessed between Thomas Williams and his sub, Peter, the day of Peter’s “rebirth.” Not only that, he never realized such intimacy was possible. For two years, Thomas’s business card has been burning a hole in his wallet. When Darren’s lover moves on, maybe it’s finally time to see where that card takes him.

Collars & Cuffs’s new barman, JJ Taylor, is really conflicted right now. He went to the club with a very specific purpose, already convinced of what he’d find there. Except it’s not what he expected at all. He certainly didn’t anticipate finding himself drawn to the new wannabe Dom. Nor could he have guessed the direction that attraction would lead him.

Old love, new love, vows, pain, rage, moving in, moving on…. The members of Collars & Cuffs face an event that touches some of them deeply, but it will only reinforce what they already know: together they are stronger, and some bonds cannot be broken.

I really enjoyed this book. We got to see almost all of the characters from previous books, which was great, I loved seeing how they are now and what they have been up to. We got to see another great relationship form. Darren and JJ were perfect for each other, they both just wanted each other so bad and you could feel that in their story. Of course the sex was off the charts. Once again we saw how people who aren’t family can be more family than our true family. I love the closeness of everyone, it just feels right. I hate that this is the last book in the series but I am hoping that the last chapter may have been a hint that there is another series in the works.

This series has been an absolute favorite of mine. All of the characters of collars and cuffs are not only a part of the BDSM community but they are family.

In this book the collars and cuffs family comes together to support Peter after old pain resurfaces after finding out that his old tormentor killed himself in prison but not only that they also find out that JJ was his son.

JJ carries around the pain of what his father did to others and when he first went to work at collars and cuffs he went to prove his dad’s innocents but found instead that not only is he guilty but that he also found th family he has always been looking for.

Once he meets Darren his whole life changes and JJ realizes he wants to try his submissive tendencies out with Darren as his Dom. So these two men take a journey through BDSM together. They not only find the mutual connection where that is concerned but each other and more friends and family at collars and cuffs.

All of the members of collars and cuffs are their for one another no matter the occasion and they support each other even from afar if need be.

This book was much like the others in the aspect that it kept me held captive till the very end. KC Wells amazes me with being able to make each book better then the last and this book was no exception to that. I truly enjoyed this read and look forward to reading for from KC in the future.

I can’t believe this series is ending. It was a great privilege to travel this road with two exceptional authors. I certainly hope that these authors will consider a new collaboration as I felt their writing styles complemented each other in ways that you never knew who was doing the writing.

In this book we get to meet Darren and JJ. The authors we spot on for the character development and I immediately fell in love with both MC’s. It was also great to see the characters from the previous books make an appearance.  Darren and JJ had a really sweet connection and it was really wonderful to see and experience their joys and their tribulations in the effort to build a relationship. I just can’t say enough about the writing duo of Wells and Williams. Every book they write immediately draws me in and it does not want to let me go. In this book we had everything from a couple who leaves town to a death (not telling!!)-the endings and a wedding to opening a house for homeless young people-the beginnings. There was also the hint of a new series (YEA!!) and I certainly hope that it happens.

This book was an exceptional ending with hopes for a new beginning for a new series and I applaud the authors for a completed task that will have me re-reading these books for years to come.

Lynn

FourStars

First off, I have read the previous books in this series and for the most part, really enjoyed them.  While I did give this book 4 stars, it was more due to the style of writing.  This was, so far, my least favorite of the series.

Let’s start with the bomb drop – while I can understand why people are upset, it seemed that this book focused a lot on that.  I thought this was Darren’s story.

For me, this story seemed to almost drag on.  While I was happy that I was able to see some closure on other relationships, this story was far less about Darren and JJ’s story than it was about the culmination of what was happening at the club, which, in my opinion, weakened the story.

The jumping back and forth between couples was sometimes difficult to follow and while I know who are friends and in what capacity, it was sometimes too much all jumbled, which left the conversations underdeveloped.

When Darren and JJ were the center of attention, they had a much weaker connection than the other couples.  Their connection began with mistrust and while they worked on trust, I don’t know if they ever truly found the peace they were both looking for.

The premise is that they both wanted what everyone else had.  However, it seemed that they are still plodding along in their journey, because their story was so broken up and splattered between everyone else and their drama.

While I love the series, this just didn’t work very well for me.  There was a lack of chemistry and connection between Darren and JJ for me.

Excerpt

“Honey, I’m home.”

Alex laughed and came out of the kitchen to greet his husband. “We’ve talked about this, right? You do not walk into this apartment and talk to me like I’m the little wife.”

Leo kissed him soundly on the cheek. “Aw, but you’d look great in an apron, holding a glass of beer out for your weary, hard-working hubby.” He smirked. “And besides, no one in their right mind would call you little.”

Alex quirked his eyebrows. “One, you don’t drink beer, which is why there’s a glass of chilled chardonnay on the living room table, waiting for you. Two, excuse me—weary? Hard-working? You’ve been standing around in leather chaps and a harness, watching while guys do all manner of things to each other, which probably included a lot of fucking, because, hey, it’s Saturday night, right?”

Leo sighed happily. “What can I say? I love my job.”

I think I’ve only read 1 book from this author besides this one. The other was Book 3 of the Dark Angels series.
This one is about Zack and Andrew. Zack wanted to be the sub to Andrew but was denied because he was deemed too young. So he decides to just be a dom since no one else will do. Fast forward and these two finally becomes a thing. This book was sweet yet slightly repetitive. The dialogue could sometimes be childish. Well, Zack. The thing that annoyed me more was reading about others and their naughty scenes. I want to read about the main couple, not everyone else. This book was long and if a book is long, it should be about the main couple.

What an emotionally charged this book turned out to be. I could not put this book down it was so amazing.

From the moment Zack and Drew laid eyes on one another you could the chemistry and the connection these two men felt for one another. But it was not an easy road for them to get to where they could be together and love each other in the open. There was obstacles that stood in their way for a couple of years and both men are dang head strong that it took forever for them to get their crap straight and admit to one another how they truly felt about each other.

Zack and Drews road leading to one another was not an easy road and I enjoyed being able to travel that road with them through all their ups and downs and twist and turns. It was an extremely bumpy ride but well worth the bruises along the way. Z Allora has an amazing book on their hands and I hope many others enjoy it as much as I did. I look forward to reading more books by this author in the future. An amazing read!!!!

I absolutely loved this book but it doesn’t surprise as I read books by this author before, which I also loved. The author previous work I’ve read was the Dark Angels series I was a little hesitant because this was much different than those books. I worried needlessly as this was another winner. This was a BDSM story that kept me capture right from the beginning. The BDSM in this story was portrayed in such a manner that was respectful and engaging. This was a very deep and passionate love between Zack and Andrew and I quickly feel in love with them both. There was also some self-discovery in this book as Zack discovered that he can be a Dom or a sub. I would definitely recommend this book to all Z. Allora fans and hope that the author will write more books like these.

ThreeandHalfStars

Midsummer Court is a light and fun read, but as the series progresses I feel like the stories are becoming less interesting.

This is an entertaining book but not overly engaging. Puck and Oberon are fun characters, and their banter and antics are amusing. Some of the sex scenes are delightfully kinky.

The plot isn’t overly exciting, but I am looking forward to continuing the series if there is another book planned.

I recommend this series for anyone looking for a fun and sexy fantasy, as long as they don’t expect much depth.
