Synopsis

Three years ago, Sebastian Beaumont, was starving and struggling on the streets. An offer for safety and shelter was nothing but the lies of a vampire. Having crossed more than three hundred years of life, Valentin Wyndham, is a prince among vampires. Memories of betrayal still haunt him and love isn’t something he seeks. When his need for blood becomes too strong, he breaks his usual habits and visits a blood house. Though he tries to resist, he can’t help but be captivated by the beautiful Sebastian.

Unable to deny the intensity between them, Valentin frees Sebastian from the blood house, but danger follows them both from those who don’t want to let Sebastian go.

Sebastian was taken and made to be a blood slave by a evil vampire. He has been hurt so many times he has resigned himself to his fate having no hope of ever escaping that is until Prince Valentin comes to visit him and has a instant attraction to Sebastian.

I have to say I loved this vampire world this author created in this book. It was gritty but also sweet too especially with the way Valentin treats Sebastian. There were also very steamy parts in this book between these two men that were so very hot but there was also action in this book too which had me on the edge of my seat hoping for the best for these two men!

I loved the way this author wrote these characters and this story! You get your good guys but you also get your bad ones too. I really can’t wait for the next book, this is me hoping there will be one about a certain demon lol because I really loved his character too! I really do not want to give away any spoilers because this book was so good you really need to read this one for yourself especially if you love vampire books like I do. So I will leave this review with I 100% loved this book and I would definitely recommend it!

Despite what the cover of this book looks like, this was a surprisingly light story.  I loved all of the characters.  Valentin is looking for something, but doesn’t know it.  I really like that he was not the stereotypical vampire – dominant character.  He was kind, gently, hot, sexy and loving – He was even, at times, playful!
Then you have Sebastian – a starving human who is just trying to survive.  He knows that his time is limited, he wants to find a way out, but also is a fighter and wants to survive.
The relationship is both necessary and loving.  But, since Valentin has a past of being hurt, his friends are somewhat wary of Sebastian.
I LOVED the secondary characters – Sal and his pet Beezie were wonderful and I really, really hope that Sal gets his own book.  Then you have Basil and he’s quirky, snarky and lovely.  I also want to know more about Calvin.  Overall, I really enjoyed this book and hope that some of these secondary characters get to become main characters in their own stories.

Be warned that there is some abuse in this book.

There no question that S.J. Frost is one of my favorite authors. I’ve never been one to read vampire stories but S.J. Frost is a must read for me. I immediately fell in love with Sebastian, Bastian as his vampire prince called him. But Valentin was just off the wall and I loved him too. The sex between Valentin and Bastian was so crazy HOT that I swear it just wanted to burn up mu iPad. Can’t wait for the next in the series and I’m hoping it will Sal and Calvin. This is a must read for all vampire lovers.

5 Stars for This Other Country (More Heat than the Sun #4) by John Wilshire #MM #Dark @JohnWiltshireNZ @MLRPress

1.5

Title: This Other Country (More Heat Than the Sun #4)
Author Name & Publisher: John Wilshire (MLR Press)
Publication Date & Length: November 22, 2014 – 298 pgs

Synopsis

Nikolas is the sanest, straightest, person he knows, so can anyone tell him, why he’s on a gay therapy course?

Nikolas Mikkelsen could make a very long list of unpleasant things he’s endured in his life. Then order it from ‘nearly killed me’ to ‘extremely horrific and don’t want to do again’. And what did it say about his forty-five years that being hit by a tsunami would be a considerable way down this list? But nothing, not torture, imprisonment, nor starvation has prepared him for what he now has to endure for Ben Rider’s sake-attendance on a residential, gay therapy course. At least he has a new contender for the top spot on his ‘my awful life’ list.

This book was another really good addition to this series!

Warning this is a dark romance book and there are some parts of this book that may be hard for some to read.

In this book Nikola and Ben must go to a gay counseling seminar undercover to help their friend. There were funny moments with the banter between these two men then there were harder moments with what Ben goes through.

Now I have to say I really do not like Kate now and I honestly did not feel like that situation was handled right because it felt like she got off with a slap on the hand when she knew what she did was wrong. Now I will not say what happened because that would be a spoiler but I will say it was really messed up and wrong.

Other than that part I really loved this book and what this author did with this story! There was action which has you on the edge of your seat and so much steam between these two men.

So all together I loved this book besides that one part which still is driving me nuts that happened lol.
I would recommend this book!

This book was such a awesome addition to this series!
Warning this is a dark romance book and there are some parts of this book that may be hard some to read.

With this book we get more of Nikola and Ben as they closer to one another. Nikola must go to Russia and Ben wants to go with him.. Well lets just say after that this book went from really good to amazing!!!!

They encounter some very messed up men and lets just say Nikola must bring out the part himself he has thought he would never have to use again. These two men have to fight for their life in this book.

This author did a amazing job with this story and these characters in this book. We learn so much about Nikola and Ben in this book. You see how much Nikola cares for Ben and how much Ben cares for Nikola even though there at the end what Ben does with “not saying and giving away any spoilers” really irritated me and made me doubt Ben’s feelings for Nikola.

So all together I really loved this book!
I would recommend this book!

This book was such a good addition to this series!

With this book we get more of Nikola and Ben as they closer to each other while at the same time we learn more about Nikola and what causes the darkness within himself. Now Nikola is very dark and scary which I don’t blame him after everything that happened to him in his life. It was very hard reading parts of this so here is a warning that some parts of this book are dark and may be hard for some to read I know it was for me..

Everything Nikola went through was horrible and what he had to do there are just no words.. I felt like Ben really being there with him brings something out in Nikola maybe something good? Which helps Nikola with the dark inside.

Nikola must go on a trip which leaves Ben on his own. Ben decides to go to where Nikola is from and learn Danish. There was so much action and on the edge of your seat moments in this book. This author grabbed me from the start and I could not put this book down until the end.

I loved the way this author wrote these characters with Nikola’s dark, scary personality which draws you in wanting to learn more about him to Ben’s light, loving personality but also the dark inside of him too.

All together I really loved this book and can not wait to read the next one in this series!
I would recommend this book!

o I will start of this review with a warning… There are parts in this book that will be hard for some to read in this book, I know they were very hard for me and some that I just could not read.

Okay well this book I just do not know how to explain exactly how I felt about this book… So I will try without giving away too many spoilers. The first part of this book was just ugh I cried so much for these boys. Then there was the second part of this book which I have to be honest and say was just way to much for me. I guess there is drama and then there is just way to much where you reach the point in a book that is becomes unbelievable and sadly a little annoying.

Now I really did like Caleb’s character and I did feel so bad for these two men. But I have to be honest and say even though I really do like dark novels, this one was just way to much for me and I am sad to say this book was just not for me…

TWO 5 and One 4 Star Reviews for Saving Ren (Baretti Security Series #3) by Sloan Kennedy #MMM #Romance @sloane_kennedy

26846304

Title: Saving Ren (Barretti Security Series #3)
Author Name: Sloane Kennedy
Publication Date & Length: September 30, 2015 – 232 pgs

Synopsis

Three men brought together by circumstance who found something none of them knew they needed…

Ren Barretti has finally come home after a year of being held captive by the terrorists who slaughtered his entire Special Forces team. But he can’t escape the nightmares that torment him or the guilt that he was the only one to walk away. The life his older brothers have brought him home to doesn’t exist for him anymore and to keep them and their loved ones safe from the rage and pain that consume him, Ren needs to disappear.

Police Detective Declan Hale has felt an undeniable pull towards the very straight Ren Barretti since the day Ren’s brother married Declan’s younger sister almost a dozen years earlier. But even though the Ren who has come home isn’t the one who left, all of Declan’s feelings come rushing back to the surface and he steps in to help the only man he’s ever truly wanted. And even though there’s no future for them, keeping Ren safe is all that matters and Declan will risk anything to make that happen.

Tough as nails former soldier and mercenary Jagger Varos has returned to Seattle after years of running from his past and he’s hoping that joining Barretti Security Group will help him finally call the city he left behind home. But within weeks, his new beginning is tested after multiple run-ins with the gruff, infuriating Detective Hale. When he inadvertently discovers that Declan is hiding Ren from the very brothers offering Jagger a new start, Jagger finds himself torn between his newfound loyalty to Vin and Dom Barretti and the need to protect the young man he himself helped rescue from his captors.

For Declan and Jagger, it’s hate at first sight but they soon realize that they will need each other if they have any hope of saving Ren from himself. And neither of them expects their mutual distrust in one another to grow into something else entirely or that Ren himself will find in both of them what he needs to rebuild his life and come to terms with who he really is.

Can the fierce attraction between three men become something more or will the demands of the real world tear them apart?

Note: This book contains explicit M/M/M content and is intended for mature audiences

Although this book is part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone. No cliffhangers.

This was an emotional roller-coaster!  It was so good that I know that I am going to have a hard time putting everything I want to say about this story in to a coherent review.

Starting out – Jagger is such the alpha male character.  He is strong, hard headed at times and loves deeply.  He not only has to overcome his own insecurities, but help Declan and Ren overcome theirs.  I loved getting to know a little more about this deep, severely loyal man.  Despite his outward appearance, he is just as in need of saving as Ren.  Each carry their own scars.

Then you have Declan.  Despite his holding a candle for Ren for so long, his new outlook on the developing feelings he has for Jagger are not only confusing, but scary too.  Declan has a past that is not altogether horrible, but not hearts and rainbows either.  Despite his wanting to protect and love Ren, Declan knows that he might be in over his head.  I love that you get to see his struggle – his desperate attempts at keeping his life in order.

Finally, you have Ren.  He is slightly different, but still there.  His story is so sad – but in the end, it’s so uplifting.  He gets to live his own life, on his own terms.  And, while the journey to achieve that is hard, in the end, Declan and Jagger love him no less.

Their story is full of angst, love, passion, some very hot scenes, compassion and grace.  It spans quite a few months, so you don’t have that insta-love feeling and you really get to know the inner thoughts of each character and their own struggles.  It was an amazing story and my favorite thus far in the series.

I can’t wait for the next story to come out.  Sitting on pins and needles here!!!

This book was such a good addition to this series!
So I will be honest I was a little hesitant going into this book because I am so picky about ménages. Let me just say the way the author wrote these three men together was perfect! Everything was equal and I honestly did not feel like anyone was being left out at all.
Declan who is Dom’s wife that passed a way’s brother is a cop which his how he meets Jagger who is under arrest. Well lets just say these two did not get along at first. Well without anyone knowing Declan has been helping Renwho has severe PSTD. Jagger follows Declan to the cabin Ren is at, that is when all three of them met. The sparks between these three were awesome.
The way the author told this story was really good! Ren has to go through so much trying to get better after what happened with to him in the army and Jagger and Declan are there for him the whole way. You do get some angst with this book and the sweet between these three but lets not forget the steam which was off the charts hot! You also see a lot of the same characters from the first book in this one too. Now I want to leave this review with I really hope that the next book in this series will be Conner’s book.. Maybe with Zane:).I just really want to see Conner get his HEA after everything he has been through.

All together I really loved this book!
I would definitely 100% Recommend this book!

FourStars

Not gonna lie, I haven’t even read Book 1 or 2 yet. I skipped to 3 ’cause it sounded too interesting. I’ve never read a book by this author before, but that didn’t bother me. I like to read. 🙂
So, this is a threesome with a cop (Declan), a former mercenary turned bodyguard (Jagger) and a former soldier (Ren). This had all my favorite themes so of course I just had to read it when it was offered. I liked this threesome. Ren was all kinds of messed up when he returned from being held prisoner for a year. Jagger was part of the team that got him back. Declan is the brother-in-law of one of Ren’s older brother. He let Ren go and handed the code to his cabin because he’s been in love with Ren for 10 yrs. Ren wanted to hide from the world, afraid of what his PTSD/blackouts would make him do.
The author did a great job making them a THREESOME, not 2 guys plus 1 extra guy. I really hate reading threesomes like that. And I liked how they each showed passion for one another equally. Sometimes authors fail to do that and Sloane Kennedy did a pretty awesome job. They fell for each other pretty fast, but their passion was HOT HOT HOT. actually, I kinda thought that there was too many sex scenes and not enough plot. That’s why it’s 4 stars instead of 5. I will admit, however, that I was dying for them to finally get together. When they did, I was like “Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.”
I wish there was some action scenes. I mean, a cop, a mercenary and a soldier…can I get an action scene please? lol. I was disappointed that there wasn’t one. Ah well, can’t have’em all. I’m glad I found this author though.
I’m going to read Book 2. Book 3 made me too curious. Book 2 was happening in the same timeline as Book 3 so the readers gets bits and pieces of book 2’s plot.
Can I get more Declan, Jagger and Ren time? ;P

**AUDIOBOOK REVIEW**

This was a very intriguing story. I wasn’t exactly sure where it was going when I first started it but the twists it took were great! The transition from friends to lovers to family was really smooth and believeable even with Tristan’s horrid past holding him back.
The threesome angle was really different and I liked it. The fact that one of them isn’t in it for an intimate relationship, but rather the feeling of being wanted/needed was nice to see even though it was unexpected.
While I found the book great, I had a bit of an issue with the narrator. Some words were mispronounced and he said ‘bean’ instead of ‘been’ every time. And the airy quality in the background was annoying at first, but I got used to it as the book continued.
