Title: Death and Destruction (Death and Destruction #1)
Author Name & Publisher: Patricia Logan (Westburg Publishing)
Publication Date & Length: May 26, 2016 – 333 Pages
Forced to go into witness protection, ATF Special Agent Thayne Wolfe, is less than thrilled. The State’s Attorney needs him to testify against one of the most ruthless and notorious arms dealers in the world. Expecting boredom and lots of daytime television, he instead ends up with a ridiculous new job, a stupid new name, and the world’s most annoying shadow. Jarrett Evans, is nevertheless tasked with keeping Wolfe alive long enough to put Mills Lang and his crew away for the rest of their miserable lives.
Jarrett Evans, former Marine, has always been a free spirit, doing the dirty work for Uncle Sam whenever and wherever he’s needed. One of the best snipers in the world, Evans is at peace with the man he’s become. That doesn’t mean he’s ever liked the cold-blooded killer who stares back at him from the mirror every day. The moment he meets pretty boy Thayne Wolfe, things start a slow change and redemption begins to sound possible.
Mills Lang, the world’s most ruthless arms dealer, is little more than a serial killer in his own right. Rotting away in prison with nothing but time on his hands, Lang is determined to destroy the man he allowed into his inner circle. Thayne Wolfe will die in the most painful way… along with anyone he loves.
I was so glad to find this was part of a series. I’ve read a few books from this author and enjoyed them but this book was clearly stellar. The writing was excellent and it was very easy to get into. The plot was great and the characters were fantastic. The romance between Thayne and Jarrett was not instantaneous but came about a through their chemistry. I love when an author can just draw you into the book and before you know it, it’s over. This book was like this. This book had everything: great characters, excitement, and sexy reading. I would recommend this to everyone and can’t wait for the next installment.
This book was phenomenal. It is full of action, romance, intrigue, and mystery. Patricia Logan really out did it on this book and I think that this book is just the prelude to what will come in book 2.
I really fell for both characters in this book. Jarrett and Thayne were both just amazing characters and they were both amazing together.
I do not think that we have heard the end from Mills Lang that is for sure and I do not know why but I do not think that Noah is dead and gone either. It is just a feeling but I think he will be making an appearance in a future book.
Patricia Logan put just the right amount of mystery and romance in this book to make you want to find out what is going to happen in the next book. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I cannot wait to find out what is going to happen next and I love the fact that Thayne and Jarrett are going to partners at work and at home. That will make book 2 just that much more interesting.
Great job Patricia and cannot wait for the next book.
Wow! This is Patricia Logan at her best – and her best is always special. This time she has mixed action, adventure and romance, introducing a new series with two brilliant leads and a fantastically evil supervillain. She adds in wonderful supporting characters and brilliant banter between our leading men.
And the leading men themselves – Jarrett and Thayne are slightly older, slightly damaged and entirely kick-ass heroes – or maybe antiheroes as much of Jarrett’s top secret life has been dark and not entirely moral. Thayne isn’t squeaky clean either, having done everything possible to survive undercover for the past two years. The chemistry between these two men is hot but the relationship is a satisfying slow burn and relatively angst free.
I loved the way this story spins away from the Bodyguards series and becomes something of its own. While I loved the first story in the Bodyguards series, I was falling out of love with the series and slightly skeptical about this book. I shouldn’t have been. This is wonderfully original, and while we revisit a couple of characters from Bodyguards, this book is the start of something exciting and new.
I absolutely loved this and I can’t recommend it highly enough. For anyone still mourning the end of Abigail Roux’s Sidewinder books or readers desperately hoping for an addition to Charlie Cochet’s THIRDS series, this new series is a must read.
Patricia Logan resides in Los Angeles, California along with her husband, four children, her grandchild and ever increasing number of cats. When not being stage mom, baking cookies, or scooping kitty litter, she writes steamy, award winning, gay erotic romance and tries to lead her readers on a journey of discovery with more than a little angst.
