So many things to like in this book. The sex scenes were hot. H. O. T. The kink was good, integrated within the story, integral to the plot, but not overwhelming. The emotions of all three characters made the relationship between them all. No, they don’t expect everything to be roses all the time. They expect problems and issues, but they all have a desire to work through them. A realistic viewpoint. The serial killer case upped the tension and anticipation, knowing that something was going to happen. I would say, though, that it was difficult swinging between the two extremes of the plot. The romance/erotica/relationship story had such a different feel from the police procedural/murder mystery/cop thriller, and sometimes the transition between the two was difficult to traverse. Both storylines were good, both kept my attention, but they evoked very different reactions, and I’m not sure those went together as well. Also, there was a lot of foreshadowing, enough that I felt confident in who the perp was, and how things would come to a head. That didn’t lessen my enjoyment at all. I liked the emphasis on the feelings of Julia, Garrison, and Keaton, and how they all worked through honest communication to get to a place where everybody was happy with the relationship. All in all, this was a very enjoyable read.

What did I just read? Brilliance is what that was! Plus look at that cover…oh freaking my, sexy, sexy. This story had a little bit of everything that crosses of the must have list. It had the suspense, it had the D/s, it had the love and emotions. It didn’t have that insta-love and fairytales, which for me is all the better. Garrison and Julia have amazing marriage and understand, trust, respect each other to help the other with what they need in life. The characters had to work for the relationship, yet the relationship felt real not forced or fake. I liked that Julia and Garrison knew Keaton in their own unique ways. It helps to show that the deep connection that was there and why the emotions bloomed so well. They felt real with real issues and fears, like they were your neighbors. Garrison and Julia may have been a strong couple, but with the addition of Keaton, the three are a powerhouse throuple and so dang sexy too, mmhmm.
The flow was smooth; the storyline was coherent. I enjoyed having the 3 POVs, so I could get to know each one and I did. Garrison was my favorite, he cracked me up, yet his love for his wife to let her do what she needs is amazing. Once I started reading, I could not set this book down.

I love Orman books.  This one did not disappoint.  The characters are well developed and the story flows easily.
Julia, Garrison and Keaton are all living their lives – doing what they love and trying to figure out how to be happy.
I love that Julia is both Domme and sub.  I think that it gives her a unique experience and with her skills, she is able to fulfill many desires.  I also really like that she keeps her client’s secret, even from Garrison.  I think that it makes her situation throughout the story much more real.  When she is faced with a situation, she handles herself with grace and strength.
Then you have Garrison, who is working hard to figure out who is hurting Domme’s in his town.  Not only does he not really have a clue who is doing this, but he has to figure out his feelings for DA Keaton.  While he loves his wife, he also knows that he enjoys being with men too.  Julia knows and accepts this about him, so he just needs to figure out if Keaton should be with them as a couple, him alone or not at all.
Finally, you have Keaton.  I loved his character.  He was strong, brave and unafraid of what he desires.  He knows that his lifestyle could put him in the hot seat, so he’s thankful that he found someone who will keep his secret.  When he figures out how everything is connected, he has to make the decision to leap and hope that nothing bad will happen.
The three of them have OK chemistry, but I do wish that we would have seen them more on a one and one basis.  I felt like we heard all about their relationship, but didn’t really get to see it develop.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story.  It had great chemistry and the mystery was intriguing.

Rachael Orman you completely and totally blew me away. I have not read any of Rachael Orman’s previous books but I can guarantee you that I will be doing so now. This is a book that is full of lust, respect, dommes, submissives, dominates, love, cravings, mystery, murder, BDSM, and so much more. What more can a girl ask for? Oh yeah I know, male/male/female relations. But guess what, it has that too.

This is one of those books that when you start reading it sucks you in immediately and does not let go till the very end and even then you are left wishing you had not finished the book yet because you want more. It is one of those books that even when it ismidnight you do not want to put the book down because you have to know what is going to happen next.

Garrison and Julia are happily married and if push came to shove, they are not missing anything in their relationship. They are truly a couple that most would love to base their own relationship off of but Julia is submissive to Garrison but is a Domme to others in her part time line of work. Garrison is also bisexual but they have never let those two things come between them. I honestly do not think that they ever would have either. But both of them being attracted to Keaton was a plus in their marriage because both was able to get to explore parts of themselves that they normally would not have.

In my opinion, it was inevitable for the three of these people to end up together. They each complimented one another in ways that made them all better people and happier in their lives. It is as if in my opinion, that they are made for one another. The three of them together is better all together then they ever could be apart.

With the murders happening around them, it throws an extra spin into the book that made it even more captivating. I really enjoyed reading this book so much and I cannot wait to read more books by Rachael Orman. She is a spectacular author and this book is proof of that. Amazing job!!!!

TWO 5 Star and 3.5 Star Reviews for Heart Ripper: Coffin Nails MC (Sex & Mayhem #9) by K.A. Merikan #MM #Romance @KA_Merikan

CoverTitle: Heart Ripper: Coffin Nails MC (Sex & Mayhem #9)
Author Name & Publisher: K.A. Merikan (Acerbi & Villani Ltd)
Publication Date & Length:. June 15, 2016 – 319 pgs

We knew we’d write Heart Ripper as soon as David appeared on the pages of Split as the MCs younger brother. There was just something about this tertiary character that spoke to us, and in no time, we were hard at work. David comes from a very devout Catholic background, and the overbearing nature of his mother doesn’t do him any favors in discovering his sexual interests.

But then comes Raja, a friend of David’s brother, and he sweeps David off his feet without knowing who he’s dealing with.

This story is much sweeter than many of the other Sex & Mayhem books in the sense that one of the characters is not in any way connected to the criminal world, and that is one of the reasons Raja, the newly appointed club president of one of the Coffin Nails MC chapters, likes him so much. David is a sweet ray of sunshine and normalcy, the kind of boyfriend Raja never had, and he can’t deny himself the attraction, even if he knows he should not pursue this particular guy.

I guess most of us like a story of a forbidden love, one that needs to face many obstacles. It isn’t easy for Raja to openly date a guy, and it is even harder for David to put everything on the line, but their connection is explosive, and neither of them can make himself give up on it.

Synopsis

— You always want what you can’t have. —

David. Catholic. Gay. Set on keeping his purity ring.
Raja. Biker. Manwhore. Never refuses a bet.

David has always tried to be the best son his parents could dream of.
Always at church on Sunday.
Always eager to help with the garden.
Always trying his best at school.
Prim, proper, innocent, and kind.
But deep inside of him, there is a yearning planted by the devil himself, and when a cocky, foul-mouthed biker pulls him a step too far, David doesn’t fall into the abyss. He leaps.
Raja is all he’s ever dreamed of, yet didn’t dare voice. Older, dangerous, a wall of muscle with a grip so strong David can’t resist him no matter how hard he tries.

As a freshly appointed president of a motorcycle club on the verge of ruin, Raja has a lot to live up to. Being gay doesn’t do him any favors in terms of commanding the respect of his men. He has his way of compensating though.
Always first in a fight.
Always bragging about his sexual conquests.
Always up for a bet.
Daring, tattooed, sexy, and unapologetic.
After he boasts he can have any man he wants, he gets challenged to hook up with the preppy guy wallflowering at a party. Raja can’t wait to pop the innocent cutie’s cherry. But when he finds out the guy is his friend’s younger brother, life gets a whole lot messier.

Why is the one guy who should be off-limits always the most tempting?

This is the KA Merikan I first fell in love with. Raja might just be my favourite bad boy biker yet and David – well, David spends this story growing up and finding his place in the world. He is cute at the start and he is smokin’ hot by the end.

This is one of the more emotional books I’ve read by these authors. I would almost describe parts of this story as sweet and moving. However, after each of these fluffy moments, the language quickly returned to filthy and the violence escalated to brutal until I once again felt securely enmeshed in the Merikan world.

I have to admit that a few of the Merikan books have pushed me beyond my comfort zone with violent sex, non-consensual sex, unusual fetishes and pure graphic violence. While this is still sexy, gritty and graphic, the sex in this story is consensual and non-violent. As always, the connection between the two men is electric. Both men have a thing for talking dirty – so the language is delightfully filthy here.

David’s struggle to justify his sexuality with his faith is a personal, internal battle and his relationship with his parents and his church is complicated. As David is Hunter’s younger brother, it was interesting to watch the same family experienced by the two siblings in very different ways. Hunter is brilliant as a big brother and a father in this story.

Raja’s struggle is also private – the new club president feels he has to prove himself constantly while the people around him judge him for his sexuality and his skin colour. Where David has Hunter and now Asty, Raja has always been alone and it is difficult for him to trust or to care.

I loved the emotional connection between Raja and David as much as their sexual connection. I also loved the increasing complexity of the relationships between the Coffin Nails and their family members.

This is one of my favourite Merikan books; I think I like their slightly softer sides!

This was just an OK addition to the series for me.  I have only read two of the previous books in this series, but I liked them much more than I enjoyed this book.

The characters were immature, whiny, and so hot and cold that even I was getting dizzy.

I liked how Hunter protected David to a point, but also let him breathe – find his own path.  Hunter seemed like a great big brother who would go to the ends of the earth for family he knew would accept him.  I love how he supported David and even went back to their old house to help his brother when their parents were being horrible.

Then you have Raja.  I felt that he was sort of truncated throughout this story.  You knew a little about him, here and there.  You knew that he went through some horrible things, but in the end, that didn’t excuse his horrible behaviors for me.  In fact, it just made his actions that much more deplorable.  He should have known better.

David is just this shy, meek kid.  He kind of grows up throughout the story, but he’s so stunted from living with his bible loving parents that he takes forever to grow up.  At almost the end of the story, I felt he was kind of coming around to being an equal part of the relationship.

While this story had great aspects to it – I just couldn’t get over Raja’s and David’s behaviors to really like it.

Heart Ripper was certainly a different story compared to the others in this series. But I still loved it.  Raja and David were so cute together, David so naive in any experience regarding life outside of his mother’s home and Raja who is very experienced but has gone through many awful times.  They were perfect together.  I liked the way this book was written with a more softer side not so violent, it was a nice change.

Excerpt

The bearded guy from downstairs slid inside, locking the door of the bathroom with a loud, final-sounding clang, and then his dark gaze was on David, rendering him mute and unable to defend himself from that strong presence.

The man was taller than David, and the white T-shirt he was wearing clung to his athletic body as he glided through the bathroom. For a moment, the world slowed down, and David could swear he saw the pitch-black hair float in the air, the curved-up moustache twitch as the man smiled beneath the thick, well-kept beard. Bold black tattoos covered the man’s arms, all the way to his wrists, and some even peeked out from under the round collar of the shirt, beckoning David to have a closer look at the dark, warm-hued skin, which had immediately set the man apart from everyone else present at the party.

“I… I mean, okay, I guess you need it more,” David uttered and attempted to pass the guy, fleeing for the door. He was hot, cold, sweaty all over, and nervous as hell. Life had been so much easier years ago, before puberty hit him in the face like a red hot poker drenched in sin.

The man stood in his way, and before David could utter a word of protest, a palm as hot as molten lava burned the skin of his throat, squeezing gently as the man pushed David back.

David stepped back in a daze, letting the stranger direct him toward the wall, until his knees hit something hard and cool. The man pushed him down, and David obeyed yet again, taking a seat on the closed toilet.

He could barely breathe from the stress of being alone with this guy in a locked room. “I’m sorry if I stared,” he wanted to say, but only managed a hoarse whisper. His body was still processing being touched by this man. Older, bigger, with eyes that could scorch David alive.

“I enjoyed you staring,” said the stranger with a small smirk to his lips as he traced his thumb over David’s lips. It was the sulphur to the match of David’s arousal, and he quickly clenched his thighs in panic. Even his accent immediately set him apart from most people David met. Rich and thick as sugar syrup, it was definitely Southern.

Even fumbly kisses with a girl at church camp weren’t as igniting as one touch from this man.

David would burn in hell for the images crawling out of the back of his mind. His heart was beating so hard it made him light-headed.

The man liked him looking.

So he wasn’t about to scold David for it. But what could a man like this possibly want with him then? A man with all that dark hair on his thick arms, a face as handsome as if it were a gift from the devil himself, and touch that made every hair on David’s body bristle.

“This… this is a misunderstanding,” David mumbled.

The man smirked and pulled down the zipper of his jeans, slowly letting go of David’s neck.

“Nice to meet you, pretty boy.”

FourStarsDetective Milo and fireman Daniel have finally come to the heart-breaking conclusion that they just can’t make a relationship work, no matter how much they love each other.  But when Daniel rescues a beautiful young man from a fire, both men are instinctively pulled to Samuel.

With a dangerous mafia crew chasing him and a world of hurt behind him, Sam needs Milo and Daniel’s protection, not their lust or their dysfunctional relationship.   But slowly, the vulnerable, damaged young man brings order to Daniel’s chaos while gently softening Milo’s heart.  Daniel and Milo are brought closer together than ever, but they only work with Samuel in the middle.

Colvilles characters are complex, multi-faceted and infinitely loveable.  Who wouldn’t love a damaged, compassionate wall of muscle?  The sex is seriously hot and the contrast between the two burly alphas and the slight, delicate Samuel is beautiful.

I love the suspense Colville weaves around her characters.  The threat to Samuel becomes more real and more imminent as Milo unravels the truth of his situation.

This story is hot and full of suspense!

Their mouths parted, Daniel moaning as Milo slipped his tongue inside him, teasing him with soft caresses until he plunged deeply into his mouth, fighting with Daniel’s tongue as their bodies began to grind together in that perfect dance. Both were so in tune to the other, both knowing just what to give to drive the other insane with desire.

“I need you, Danny. You can feel how much I need you.” Milo pressed the ridge of his swollen cock against Daniel’s, both groaning as their lengths rubbed against each other. “What I need, I can only get from you. You’re the only one on my mind. Even when I’m alone, you’re the one I see, who I hear with me, who I feel under me, over me, against me. It’s just you, Daniel. It has been for three years. There’s no one else.”

Daniel’s hands were in Milo’s hair, clinging onto him tightly and forcing their mouths to collide again, his hips raising up and crushing their cocks against each other. They were both breathing too fast, their bodies crying out for more when Milo lifted from Daniel’s swollen lips.

“You don’t have to lie to me.” Daniel moaned as Milo worked his hand over his cock, the sweatpants he wore tenting over his length.

“I’m not lying.”

Daniel’s eyes focused more on him, the truth finally seeping through that thick skull of his. “Milo…”

Milo fisted his hand tighter in Daniel’s hair. Seeing him like this turned him on too much. “Tell me what you want.”

Daniel paused, but his body rose up to Milo’s, begging for what it needed before he could say the words. “I need you inside me.” Continue reading

Love Comes to Light was a beautiful story of healing and letting go of your past.
Arik had to let go of what happened to him in his past so he could face a future that he looked forward to.  When he meets Reg he is intimidated by him but I love the journey the two of them took together to heal Arik.  I loved the kids that were in the story and especially Bobbie Jo, she was a great addition to their story.

Once again Andrew Grey has written a very warm and caring story that will pull you in
I always enjoy his books and I highly recommend this one.

I absolutely love Andrew Grey and love his Senses series. This book was a little different than previous books which dealt with mostly blindness and deafness. In this book Arik is involved in a fire and can’t seem to paint anymore. Luckily he travels to Pleasanton to meet with Ken a talented artist himself and meets Reg. This book and the others in the series are about learning to live with your disability and find love. That happens here again and Andrew Grey clearly has a shows that through his writing. This was a sincere and engaging story and I hope this series continues.

I love Andrew Grey’s books and his “Senses” series are one of my favs by this author. Book 6 introduces us to Arik, who is an artist but his hand was hurt in an accident. He was brilliant, but he lost all hope when he couldn’t paint like he used to. Then he got a surprise. His fav artist invites him to spend a week with him and Arik braves the visit. There he meets Reg.
I adored Reg, He was big, tough and rough looking, but the guy had the heart of gold. I love reading about misunderstood guys like him. He and Arik were so sweet and cute together. The author put enough angst without making the story too dramatic, yet kept it engaging. Grey puts a lot of human emotions in his books and that’s why I’m so attracted to reading his stories.
Arik and Reg brought out the best in each other. There are characters from previous books in this story and I always like reading about their progress. Can’t wait for the next book.

Trial by Fire was a wonderful sweet story. It was a B.A. Tortuga story meets Harlequin romance book.  I loved that it had everything Harlequin’s have I love reading them.  It was a beautiful love story with a suspenseful twist to it, perfect.

Holden and Lachlan were opposites in many areas but also had the same values.  I felt they worked well as a couple.  And Chloe she brought them all together even the disagreeing Grandparents.

I found the Aussie talk I little hard to follow at times, though I did find calling the Grandparents the oldies quite amusing. Definitely a cute quick story of romance to enjoy.

Sherry

FiveStars

Trial by Fire is a story that I could imagine really happening. That is what I love most about this book.

Lachlan is an Aussie from Oz. His family owns a huge ranch that that has many different animals and he is in charge of it. He had a sister Addie who met the man she fell in love with and ran away with to Texas with Landon. Three years after she ran away from home, her family, and her security detail she and Landon was killed in an airplane crash and left behind Miss Cloe, their newborn daughter. Once Lachlan finds out about his sister passing away and the baby left behind he jumps on the first plane to Texas to find her.

In Texas Lachlan meets Holden, Landon’s twin brother, who is now Cloes legal guardian. Things start out rocky between the two but before they know it sparks start flying.

BA Tortuga was able to do what a lot of people are not, she was able to make this story believable. The circumstances for these two families coming together, the fear both family feels at possibly not being able to watch Cloe grow up, the heartache they each feel for the loss of their family, the fear, helplessness, and the need for vengeance everyone feels when Cloe is kidnapped, and the way they all pull together to support one another while she is missing was so believable that I could actually picture it happening. I felt all the emotions the characters was feeling throughout the whole book. Including all the love and happiness they found in the end.

Such a wonderful read and I am glad I was able to read it. Can’t wait to read more by BA Tortuga.

This was another romance from the Dreamspun Desires series and so far they have all been great. In this story we meet Lachlan and Holden. This story was captivating and heartwarming which all the stories in the Dreamspun Desires series seem to follow. These stories all follow the theme of HEA and are definitely I feel that each author I read has hit the ball out of the park with these.  This book had everything from angst to conflict and it came across as hot romance. I had an immediate connection with Lachlan but it took me a little while to warm up to Holden but when I did I could see nothing but a HEA for these two amazing men. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys an heartwarming romance because these certainly deliver it.

Lynn

ThreeandHalfStars

I normally love BA Tortuga, but this book was just off for me.

Lachlan is coming to meet his long, lost niece and runs in to some trouble when he demands rather than asks to see/meet her.  I did really enjoy the first meeting between Lachlan and the Sheffield family.  Hysterical.

However, when you really dive in to the story, it seemed almost rushed.  There was the angst within the story, but I felt that if this was supposed to truly be a romance, it should have focused more on the two main characters and less on the issue.  Also, the problem within the story seemed somehow unresolved – almost just thrown in to the story to cause trouble.

The chemistry between Holden and Lachlan was also not great – they came together under stress and somehow that’s how a lot of their encounters happened.  It was strange how the relationship developed and while Tortuga did acknowledge that issue, it didn’t really seem to change throughout.

So, while the story had a good message, overall, not my favorite.

AvidReader

FourStars

This book had a very Harlequin Romance feel to it, which was the point because that’s the concept of Dreamspinner Press’ ;Dreamspun Desire romances.
This one was about Holden and Lachlan, both are brought together when their siblings (who are married to each other) dies in a tragic accident, leaving behind a little baby girl. That baby girl is kidnapped and in the middle of the drama, they fall in love.
This story was really fast paste, but I liked the characters. Holden was short, but a pocket rocket. lol. Of course Lachlan was tall, sexy, rugged and rich, but he was also a caring son and brother. How the situation with the kidnappers were handled was unbelievable in some situations, but hey, I read the whole book straight though so the kidnapping plot wasn’t so bad.
I actually wish that the book was longer.

CoverTitle: Seduction: A Caddy Rowland Psychological Thriller & Drama (The Avengement Series Book #3)
Author Name & Publisher: Caddy Rowland (CFR Publishing)
Publication Date & Length: January 28, 2016 – 213 pgs

Synopsis
Have you ever done something so completely unlike yourself that in retrospect all you can say is, “What the fuck was I thinking?”

Well, multiply that by about a thousand. At least. Yep. That should tell you something about my story.

I’d like to plead temporary insanity, but I can’t. I knew exactly what I was doing. The only problem was once I started, I couldn’t stop. I never knew until then how easily a person’s mind can become addicted to whatever their drug of choice might be.

Mine happened to be a man online. I’m married, and the man online was definitely not my husband.

Yeah. I’m some idiot.

As for the story itself, it’s a story of betrayal, arrogance, innocence lost, and heartbreak. It’s a story about how we never completely know a person—especially when it comes to ourselves.

Most of all, it’s a story about what can happen when you play with fire, not expecting to get burned.

Before you know it, the whole fucking house burns down.

-Cassie Stanford

Cassie got pulled into the internet like you wouldn’t believe through lust, but it backfired on her.  Her husband was wonderful but he did anything she wanted, I think he was a little to soft.  She betrayed him yet he was there for her.

Of course the red heels came into play in this story again, love how it all came together at the end.  Very good story by Caddy Rowland, definitely a good read.

Taylor Maid is a very cute story, marrying the maid to inherit money.  But boy did Taylor get a surprise! The characters in this book were perfectly described for this story.  Loved the connection that Taylor and Ally had almost immediately upon meeting.

This book was fun and had me chuckling at points.  The story wasn’t rushed at all nor dragged out, it was just enough to give you a cute read. Both their dad’s are a problem throughout the book but Taylor and Ally get their happily ever after regardless of their dad’s.

Definitely a very good read.  You won’t be disappointed in this book at all, I highly recommend it if your looking for a quick light read.

This was actually my first book by this author and I completely loved it. This is another book in Dreamspinners new series called “Dreamspun Desires.” I already read a couple and have loved every one of them. This author was able to take this book and weave it into a story that was completely different. Don’t get me wrong I’ve read books with the general theme of this one (man being forced to marry to gain an inheritance) but this author was able to come up with a new turn to this one. That was great because I really hate reading the same story but just by a different author.

I immediately fell in love with Taylor and Ally and the denial between the two was typical but amazing in the way it came across. There was humor and eventually love between the two men. This book had everything you needed to just keep turning the pages until you finished it. This is a definite recommendation to all who love MM romance.

Another nice story by Pat Henshaw.  David comes back into Adams life years after they broke up.  David is trying to show Adam he is a new man, not doing drugs.  I thought he does a good job of this.  It was odd that he came back using a different name than before though, changing your name doesn’t mean your different but he did a nice job of showing Adam he has changed.

I thought Adam and David worked well as a couple and fought together to get their new business up and running.

This was a nice story of learning to retrust and love someone for a second chance at love. I do like Pat Henshaw’s story because it’s not all sex, they have wonderful meaning to the stories.

Excerpt

I watched Jason rise from the stoop.

He looked good. His golden hair sparkled in the day’s first light. A happy smile tinged with nervousness spread across his lips. He was wearing a silver-gray Bogner jacket, some sort of expensive pants, and sturdy boots. Hanging from his shirt collar, his sunglasses looked like those high-priced titanium ones. All in all, the guy standing in front of me could easily have fit into the young, hip app crowd now flooding the valley. Too much money and no idea where to spend it. He looked like a guy who’d eat at the Bistro and then fucking strut up to me after dinner, put a wad of Franklins in my pocket, and whisper, “Quit this job and come cook for me.”

Nothing tempted me, especially not the hundred-dollar bills I’d thought were Monopoly money the first time I’d seen them. Nothing had moved me like this, seeing Jason rise straight up in front of me like a fucking miracle.

Standing there in my scuffed clogs, beat-up jeans, and ratty Stanford Cardinal T-shirt, I felt underdressed for this particular dream. Shouldn’t I at least be wearing my chef’s regalia, toque and all? Shouldn’t I have a Henckel in one hand and a Wüsthof in the other? Or maybe clutching a shield made of my cooking classics, which I’d written with an angry, tormented mind but a clear eye to royalties?

“Cat got your tongue?” the vision asked.

“Fucking A, man. Is it really you, Jason?”

“Sorta. Who else would come knocking at your door looking like me?” He flung his arms out like he wanted me to hug him or some shit.

I backed away and kept my hands to myself, though my dick perked up immediately. Did Jason have a twin or a younger brother, somebody who resembled him? I didn’t think so. All I’d thought for five years was nobody—and I mean nobody—could ever have come back from where my Jason had buried himself. At least I never thought so.

There’ve been moments in my life when I was sure I was losing my mind. When I knew whatever tenuous grasp on reality I thought I had was really smoke up my ass. This moment smacked of those. As the legendary John Fogerty sang and the great Yogi Berra is supposed to have said, it was like déjà vu all over again. Only not.

“What the hell are you doing here?” I asked. Suspicion tasted bitter on my tongue.

Slowly his arms came down, and he gave me a pained but understanding look.

“Yeah, well, it was too much to hope we’d just kiss and make up.” His husky croak had once made me roll over and do anything he asked, but not now. “Can I come in? It’s a little chilly out here.”

I wasn’t cold, but then I’m tall and stout, a real cliché chef image. Fuck, I guess somebody’s got to be the cliché, right? It’s how clichés are born.

I shrugged at his question, swiped at the sweat rolling from my forehead, and moved aside. “Kitchen’s downstairs.” I gestured to the steps.

He walked past me, letting his hand trail over my groin. Once I would have nearly come at the gesture. Now I ignored my dick because my mind was numb and had been for years. He might think he could reawaken my love and lust, but I was pretty fucking sure that ship had sailed and gotten lost at sea.

Holy Crap! My heart raced through this story.  Both the good kind and the sweaty palms, edge of your seat kind.
I have read one previous book in this series, but it was not the one directly prior to this one and I was never lost, never felt like I was missing anything nor were the characters hard to follow.

Whew! With Grim’s demeanor, you’re right in the thick of things from the start of this story.  He finds himself in the presence of Misha, his sexual fantasy!  However, when he really gets a look at Misha, he sees a terrified human being.

Misha is a character that you can’t help but feel bad for – he has a tortured history – one where you can instantly picture a younger, less tortured boy.

You’re sucked right in to a tangled web of lies, deceit, torture, murder and mayhem.  It’s a non-stop roller-coaster ride from the first page to the last.  If you’re up for dark romances, scary, murderous characters then this book is definitely for you.

And, through it all, Grim and Misha are able to develop a connection that is so deep, trusting and loving.

I do wish that the antagonist had suffered far worse – it was not slow enough for me.

This was not one of my favorite books by this author.  I found Grim to be a bit disturbing and his fetish was quite twisted.  I did have a problem with that, but I did go on with reading it.  Misha on the other hand, when it was revealed what happened to him I felt so awful for him.

Even though I had some problems with the story I have to say once again they have written with a lot of feeling, but very dark, intense and twisted. This book took me to an uncomfortable zone at times, but like all their books do, it keeps you wanting to read more.  So please read the warnings so you know just what your getting.

oh boy, oh boy, this book was a trip.
So here we have book 8 of Merikan’s Coffin Nail’s MC series and it’s twisted as all get out. This is Grim’s story, an assassin who reminds me of a mixture of a puppy, a nutjob, a sweetheart, a kid and the Joker. Lmao
Grim finds Misha, a video porn star with no legs on a mission for the Coffin Nails. Grim spirits Misha away without the others knowing because he’s always liked Misha’s videos and has a thing for amputees. A fetish, really, He’s on a quest to win Misha’s heart and Misha…well he’s like “wtf?” haha
I actually really liked this book, with it’s dark humor and romance. Grim is disturbed…like mentally, and he knows it. The readers knows it, Misha knows it…but for some reason, I liked him. He’s not the type of person I ever wanna meet in a dark alley (lol) but I liked how the author portrayed him and never changed his personality. He was all kinds of crazy, and I liked his brand of crazy…in the book. In real life, I think it’s best that he be put in jail for the safety of others. O_O
Poor Misha. He’d been kidnapped, mutilated, abused and used as a sex toy, yet he was still strong. In the beginning he seemed weak, but hanging around Grim made him stronger. I liked that he never faded in the background with someone like Grim. He and Grim went together like peas and carrots.

I usually don’t like biker books but this one was really good. I loved how loving and caring Grim was towards Misha. I understand why Misha was hesitant towards Grim and his feelings for him. I can’t even imagine all that Misha went through, besides anxiety and trust issues he seemed pretty normal considering everything that was done to him for over five years. This book had great chemistry and character interaction. There was some intense scenes and the author kept me engaged the entire book.

I expected graphic violence. I expected violent, graphic sex. But I wasn’t quite ready for the amputee fetish. I have to admit that after loving KA Merikan’s Guns N Boys series, this is finally a bit too dark and a little too kinky for me.

For me, the violence and sex in the Guns N Boys series is softened with humour and some very tender scenes. But Dom and Seth are equals, partners. I think I found this more disturbing because Misha is a victim and Grim an unapologetic predator for much of the story. There is no humour. No banter between the men softens the harsh edges of the relationship. I’m used to blurry consent in these books but I still find it disturbing.

When I’m enjoying a KA Merikan book, I am aware of the clunky writing and editing errors but I find them easy to ignore. Because I was already struggling with this story, I found the typos quite distracting.

Despite my reservation about the story, I really enjoyed Misha’s character. His backstory is fascinating and his constant adjustment to his changing circumstances feels real and carefully written. There are parts of nomad Grim’s character I enjoyed as well. I just struggled with some of his actions at the start of the story and his fetish throughout.

I did enjoy the relationship between Misha and Grim more at the end of the story than I did at the start. When consent and affection started to replace fear and force, I started to engage more with the story. But the kink still made me a little queasy.

This is a friendship to love, hook-ups to partners story. The gay rodeo provides a colourful, exuberant setting for a story full of friendship, humour and drag queens.

With Trey and Smoke, the author challenges many of the conventions of m/m Cowboy stories. Refreshingly, our heroes are as comfortable grinding in a bra and a denim thong as they are covering dangerous bulls. Their lesbian friends Dolly and Alex are written as interesting, complicated and talented women.

This is a great low-angst read. After hooking up for a long time, Trey and Smoke are more attached to each other than they care to let on. Pride, jealousy and matching competitive streaks make the relationship complicated, but these two already have a solid friendship and great sex – they just need the courage to make things official.

The rodeo is exciting, the story is fun and the attention to detail is exquisite. Miss Demeanor, the drag queen presenter, adds a silly, saucy contrast to the dangerous sport and Dolly adds a female perspective.

I really loved this and I’m hoping more Western writers take a cue from Catt Ford and exchange tired Brokeback tributes for a little flamboyant pride more suited to the twenty-first century.

Bulldozed started out a little slow for me but by the time I got to the rodeo part the story had picked up and I was hooked.  It was a great story about Trey, who was afraid to commit and Smoke who was in love with Trey.  There were times I wanted to smack Trey for being so dense and then Smoke, not sure why he didn’t just tell him how he felt.  I liked how they finally connected to each other and I loved their plan for the future.

A great story with an exciting rodeo and two men working to find happiness. ,
