So to start of this review I have to say this world the author created in this book was really amazing!

This book will take you back to ancient Japan and you will get so much action while reading this along with all the many monsters from this world you will meet. I loved the way this author wrote these characters and this story! The way you actually feel like you are there while reading this and the way you are pulled in from the start of this book!

Now Keno one of the main characters there was just honestly something about him that made me love his character so much! You really can’t help but feel bad for him for what he has been through in his life but then through all of these books his character gets so much stronger. Then there was Aboshi and Keno together, which I loved how they interacted together.

There really was so much about this book I loved from the amazing world this author created to all the vivid details, characters and action that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

So all together I really loved this book! I would recommend this series!

Quinn is a funny, loves to cook in his free time, geeky, puts others first type of guy. He has had a crush on his next door neighbor for the past year. He finally formally introduced himself to Spencer after Spencer was shot when him and his SWAT team raided a home.

It is a disaster of a first meeting to say the least and I honestly was not sure if Soencer would want to see Quinn again after there first disastrous encounter.

This was really a good book. I was not a fan of Spencers friend Javier. He was really a jerk.

This was a great short story that flowed really well. There was no dull moments and I just wished it would have been longer. Great book.

FourandHalfStars

This review is for the audiobook, read by Michael Stellman.

This is a sweet story, light and fun. And Michael really brings the story to life in his reading of it.

Quinn and Spencer are fun characters, and their progression from friends to lovers happens in a light-hearted and natural way. This book is focused much more on relationship building than on sex. So the sex scenes are well done and hot, but infrequent.

I highly recommend this to someone looking for a cute, low-angst romance.

I have to be honest and say I really loved the way this author wrote this time period and these two men together! I was grabbed from the start of this book and could not put it down.

You really can not help feeling so bad for Andreas character being so alone like he is. He is also so strong and caring which made me love his characters too! I was so nervous for him when Theron starts coming around and what his intentions were towards Andreas.

I loved the way this author wrote these characters and this story! She had you feeling everything that Andreas and Theron went through while you were reading this book and also had you rooting for these men to find happiness in a time where two men together was a huge no no and they could be killed if found out.

So i will leave this review with… I loved this book and would recommend it!

This is the first book I’ve read by Kayla Jameth, and I’m really impressed. This is a touching story of compassion, bravery, self-discovery and love.

It’s clear that a lot of research went into capturing the time period and mythology for this book. I found the story immediately engaging. The introspection and attention the detail really brings Andreas’ lonely world to life for me.

The sex scenes are well written and hot. And I like that this is a strong story that has good sex scenes where appropriate.

I’ll keep following this series for sure, and I’m excited to find out what’s coming up next for Andreas and Theron.

5 Star Review for The Innocent Auction by Victoria Sue #M/M #Historical @Vickysuewrites

28236823

Title: The Innocent Auction
Author: Victoria Sue
Publication Date & Length: December 28th 2015- 200 pages

Synopsis

London 1810.

Their love was a death sentence.

Deacon, Viscount Carlisle, was aware of the slums and gin-lanes of London. Just as he was aware of the underground traffic that furnished the brothels and bath houses with human innocents. He was also aware that the so-called justice system would hang the accused without much of an attempt at a defense, unless the unfortunate had deep pockets to pay for it.

He just hadn’t expected to be directly involved in any of it.

It started with a plea for help and ended with forbidden love, the love between a Viscount and a stable-boy. An impossible love and a guarantee of the hangman’s noose.

Will Deacon fight for Tom? Will he risk the death sentence and take that fight from the stately halls of his English mansion to the horrors of Newgate Prison and the slums of London?

Or will he realize that if he doesn’t, death will be a welcome end to the loneliness of the sentence he is already living?

To start of this review I have to say I thought this author did a amazing job with the time period in this book!

Deacon ends up at a auction trying to help his brother when he sees Tom and knows he must save him. This book has forbidden love between these two men with the time period they are in if their relationship is found out could be a death sentence for both of them.

There is angst in this book along with steam and some sweet parts too. I really thought the author did a amazing job with this story and these characters. I was grabbed from the start and could not put this down until the end. There were so many on the edge of your seat moments and I also really loved these two MC’s together. I do not want to give away any spoilers so I will leave this review with… I really loved this book and would definitely recommend it!

Excerpt

Tom was stunning in the candlelight. The servant’s clothes he wore were a hundred times softer than the rough shirt he had taken off him in the stables. Tom’s skin was just as soft, though, the muscles just as firm, and the reaction to Deacon’s touch just as thrilling.
He heard the small moan from Tom’s lips as he pulled the shirt from his trousers, his fingers touching the skin on his abdomen. Tom lifted his arms above his head in silent invitation, and Deacon’s cock swelled in eagerness. Tom let his arms fall as the shirt was thrown aside, and Deacon hurriedly unbuttoned his trousers, as Tom’s fingers went to work on Deacon’s.
Neither of them said a word. It wasn’t just fear that they would be heard, but more an affirmation that while ever they didn’t speak, they were equals, lovers. The sensation of Tom’s teeth as he grazed his collarbone was perfect. Something to be celebrated, not reviled. Surely something that made him feel so complete could never be a sin? For in that one moment, Deacon didn’t have to pretend anymore and he was content.
In moments, Tom had him undressed. “Stay still.”
Deacon groaned as the order went straight to his cock.
Tom’s calloused fingers swept over his shoulders and down his chest. Tom’s nails dug in around his nipples, and Deacon swayed towards him with every pull as if there were invisible strings attached. Tom bent his head, his warm lips drugging Deacon’s movements till they stilled. How could his skin vibrate as if alive, yet his body remain immovable as if cast in stone?
When Tom knelt in front of him, Deacon gasped. “You—” can’t? That was ridiculous, and Deacon bit the words off before they were uttered. His breaths came out in hurried gasps when Tom looked up, blue eyes on fire almost as they smoldered with heat.
Deacon almost couldn’t breathe as Tom wrapped his lips around his cock. His knees wobbled, inspiring Tom to bring two strong hands around to clasp his buttocks, pulling him nearer and making Tom almost seem to swallow him.
Almost immediately, Deacon felt the tingles in his spine. He had to hang on, and he threaded his fingers through Tom’s hair, desperate for some anchor before he exploded. Thrice. He’d had this done three times by whores, but never had he wished to think of something else while it was being done. Tom had his full attention.
“Oh.” Deacon pressed his lips together hard as Tom’s teeth scraped back and his tongue followed the fold on his foreskin, pushing it back slowly. He could nearly feel the come rush from his balls at the same speed as the blood pounding through his veins. Tom must have sensed this, because when Deacon’s back arched, he intensified the suction nearly to the point of pain, his fingers digging in Deacon’s buttocks to keep him close. That sinful tongue and commanding mouth wringing Deacon’s orgasm from him.
Deacon gasped. Eyes blinded by momentous pressure that rose in him and threatened to take over his body. He heard a small satisfied sound from the man on his knees and that was it, the catalyst that sent him over the edge. Deacon shot his pleasure into the warm mouth compelling it thus, and flung his head back, mouth open in a silent cry, his legs supported only by Tom’s hands.
Deacon’s cock jerked a final time just as Tom swallowed around it and let it drop from his lips. His eyes still closed, he felt the pressure from Tom’s hand pushing him backwards towards the bed. One more step, and Deacon hit the bed with the back of his knees, which folded, ably helped by the push of Tom’s hand. Deacon felt the bed dip and a cautious tongue lick at the side of his throat until he moved his head to the side to give the man better access. He vaguely heard a chuckle, and answered it with a tilt of his lips. He had neither the command of his body nor the presence of mind to do any other.
He just needed a minute. Then he would explore the gorgeous body laid beside him and return the favor. Just one minute.

While I really liked the pretense of this story and these characters I had a hard time finishing this book because there were a few parts in it that did drag for me unfortunately..

I loved Conner’s character because he was so strong, caring and protective when it comes to Andy. Then there was Andy who was a little annoying at first to me but i did grow to like his character by the end of this book. I did love these two men together but there were a few parts in this book that did drag for me and i found myself losing interest while reading this story.

I did really like how this author wrote these characters and parts of this story! So I will leave this review with… I liked this book and these two MC’s!

Title: The Queen & The Homo Jock King (Tell Me It’s Real #2)
Author Name & Publisher: T. J. Klune (Dreamspinner Press)
Publication Date & Length: February 29, 2016 — 350 pages

Synopsis

Do you believe in love at first sight?

Sanford Stewart sure doesn’t. In fact, he pretty much believes in the exact opposite, thanks to the Homo Jock King. It seems Darren Mayne lives for nothing more than to create chaos in Sandy’s perfectly ordered life, just for the hell of it. Sandy despises him, and nothing will ever change his mind.

Or so he tells himself.

It’s not until the owner of Jack It—the club where Sandy performs as drag queen Helena Handbasket—comes to him with a desperate proposition that Sandy realizes he might have to put his feelings about Darren aside. Because Jack It will close unless someone can convince Andrew Taylor, the mayor of Tucson, to keep it open.

Someone like Darren, the mayor’s illegitimate son.

The foolproof plan is this: seduce Darren and push him to convince his father to renew Jack It’s contract with the city.

Simple, right?

Wrong.

Sanford does not like the homo jock king Darren or at least that is what he tells himself and he his defiantly not attracted to him no matter if everytime he sees Darren he has to remind himself that he does not like him. But then his boss asks him for a favor that would have him pretending he was interested in Darren… Can he fight his attraction to Darren when he has to pretend he has feelings or will he continue to fight his attraction.

I thought this book was hilarious. From the start Helena Handbasket had me laughing so hard there were tears in my eyes. Between the things he would say and the thoughts he would have I found myself laughing so much through this book.

Then there was Darren which honestly I just loved his character so much. He was so sly about his feelings through this book and the way he acted around Helena was a mixture of so sweet and so funny.

You also get to see the characters from the first book in this series which I loved so much! The way these friends interacted with each other was hilarious but also heartwarming which how much they cared about each other.

So with this book you will get your angst, humor and the sweet too! I 100% loved the way T.J. Klune wrote these characters in this series and this story.

I loved this book and would definitely recommend it!

So while I loved the authors pretense of this story and the characters I have to be honest and say there were just so many weird and confusing parts in this book too.

Dane and Victoria die when they are hit by a drunk driver but they do not stay dead and what happened to Dane might destroy his relationship with Jake.

There were a lot of paranormal aspects in this book which I loved and on the edge of your seat moments where you hold your breath hoping for the best for these characters too. But there was also parts that were just so confusing and I really had a hard time figuring out what was going on.

You get action and suspense in this book, you will also get mystery too while Dane and friends try to figure out who or what is behind everything that is going on. I am just so on the fence right now on how I feel about this book.

So I will leave this review with I liked this book but I sadly just did not love it due to the confusing and weird parts I am still trying to figure out…

OMG! There were so many moments that I was on the edge of my seat while reading this book hoping for the best for these two men! There was pain in this book and you will see how Oliver learns to deal with it slowly but you will also see so much romance and sweet moments too.

There was also angst and steam in this book too! I have to say I loved the way this author Indra Vaughn wrote these characters and this story. You get so much beautiful with this book along with so pain too and the way she writes this has you really feeling what these characters are going through and I could not put this book down once I started it!

This is my first book by this author and the best thing I can say is WOW. This book had a lot of heartache but it also had love. I was glad I was at home reading this book because you’ll need lots of tissues. I always hate when someone who has the love of a good man loses that person. Ollie clearly was heartbroken and he was finding it hard to go on. He had to deal with the heartache along with Sam’s family (especially his father) anger. I was glad that he had Thomas and eventually Thomas son. Thomas was a clearly the steadfast man that was there for Ollie all along and Ollie was there for Thomas too. It was great to see how this author was able to take the pain and grief in Ollie and make him want to live again. I was also great to see that the man he was brought together with was able to realize he could love again. I will defiantly look for more books by this author.

I don’t even know how to properly put into words my feelings on this book. I cried A LOT while reading this book. Ollie and Sam had been together since they were sixteen years old and were about to get married until one night changes everything. The mourning period is rough for Ollie and everyone involved. I swear, I cried a lot. So much happens in this book but I still think it needed to be longer. We got the whole story of Sam and Ollie, we got the grieving period, the attempt at dating on Ollie’s part, Thomas screwing anything and everything and then going away. When we finally get to Ollie and Thomas together, we see so much in a week or two time period and then bam, the book is over. I wanted to see more of Ollie and Thomas, more of what happened after they finally worked things out. See how things went with Milo and his mom. The epilogue was ok, but I still felt like I needed more closure somehow.

Title: How Not to Summon Your True Love
Author Name & Publisher: Sasha L. Miller (Less Than Three Press)
Publication Date & Length: March 16, 2016 – 144 pgs

Synopsis

Though it doesn’t really come as a surprise, Cy is still crushed when he’s dumped. His relationship with Alex had lasted longer than all previous attempts, and started promising when Alex had proclaimed he was perfectly okay with Cy being asexual.

On impulse, convinced no one will ever really see him as worthy relationship material, Cy turns to a book that belonged to his late mother, a grimoire of magic spells that obviously won’t work. It’s a stupid idea, and even if magic was real there’s no way a true love summoning spell would work for him.

ThreeStar

This was a good book. This is the type of book that you can read on a nice summer day where the temperature is just perfect, there’s a nice breeze blowing and you’re sitting outside sipping sweet tea.

The book starts out strong and grabs me. I immediately get a feel for Cy. I share his pain and want to share his pizza. When Dig pops into the scene I’m at first unsure about him, but then as the story progresses I grow to like him and trust him as Cy does.

As their road trip unfolds, the story slows down a little. The road trip becomes a little bit boring and I’m wanting more action. I was hoping for something to happen on the road trip, but alas, it doesn’t. The relationship between Cy and Dig grows, though.

When they get to their destination, I feel, the story takes a turn. An unexpected turn that makes me disappointed. The ending was ok, but I was hoping for something more. It felt incomplete. I was wanting them to at least have their first kiss and maybe for Dig to move in with Cy.

I do recommend this book, though. It was entertaining and, as I said in my first paragraph, a perfect book to read on a lazy summer afternoon.

Ariel

ThreeStar

This book starts of so good but about half way through it dragged a little for me and honestly I really had the hardest time finishing this…

Cy is crushed when he is dumped by his boyfriend so he accidently says a spell which summons a man to him. This starts a chain of events that cause Cy and the man he summons to go on a road trip.
There was some very interesting moments while Cy learns more about himself in this book but there was really very little romance at all and I just felt like the second half dragged so much for me that I unfortunately lost interest in these characters.

So I am sad to say this novella was just not for me….

This is a delightfully creepy little book. A little bit coming of age story, a little bit family drama, a little bit romance… and a little bit psycho stalker.

Brett’s first semester at college starts with the familiar frantic rush to make friends, join clubs, find a tutor and get a boyfriend. It starts out well but Brett gets a little more than he bargained for when he starts a relationship with his attractive but slightly possessive math tutor.

I really enjoyed this. I could poke holes in the slightly implausible, slightly rushed plot, but ultimately this was a sweet, feel-good college story with a little suspense added.

Brett is a great character. The ultimate poor little rich boy, he seeks acceptance and affection wherever he can find it. Because he is so needy, I fully believed in his unlikely relationship with Jeremy.

Depth and emotional resonance is added to the story as Brett explores his relationship with Sam and develops a relationship for his father for the first time. This isn’t complicated or even very sophisticated but it is a fun, easy new adult story.

Brett’s first year of collage is not going well…

You get the crazy stalker EX with this book along with new love. The way this author wrote these characters and this story was really good. It grabbed me from the start of this story even though there were times that Brett’s decisions were annoying and made me want to pull my hair out lol.

You get a little action and some angst along with some steam too. Brett and Sam must go through a lot on their way to a relationship with each other. But I loved the fact that even when times were tuff they were both there for each other.
