1.5

Title: Bookmarked (Heartsville)
Author Name & Publisher: Piper Vaughn (Piping Hot Books)
Publication Date & Length: October 28, 2015 – 82 pgs

Synopsis

To save his bookstore from closing, Mark Werner realizes it’s going to take a miracle—like getting reclusive, best-selling author Shepherd Knight to agree to appear for a signing.

After their disastrous last encounter, Mark doesn’t hold up much hope Shepherd will agree. Shepherd’s never made a single public appearance. In fact, Mark wouldn’t even know what he looks like had he not accidentally discovered the sexy stranger he’d been flirting with for months, aka “Tall-Dark-and-Grumpy,” was also his fanboy obsession.

But desperate times call for desperate measures. If Mark can convince Shepherd, it’ll be a major coup in the book world and might just save Bookmarked from sinking. Too bad Shepherd won’t reply to his e-mails. Yet Mark didn’t earn the reputation of having a “sunshine-and-rainbow-fart” personality for nothing. He’ll do whatever it takes to get his man… and hopefully not make a fool of himself in the process.

What first drew me into this book was the setting of the story:  a bookstore. I’ve loved bookstores ever since I was little and the thought of a story being set in a bookstore was an automatic “I’ve got to check this out”.

I’m so glad I checked this book out because I loved it. The author has such a way with words that the story grabbed me immediately and I felt like I was right there with Mark, feeling his pain, at the thought of losing his bookstore and feeling his hurt and humiliation afflicted on him by Shepherd.

I felt sympathetic towards Shepard though. Sure, in the beginning he was this brooding, intense, grumpy guy. One of Mark’s  friends, upon meeting him, told Mark this (a quote from the book):

“He’s got that whole broody thing going on, sure, but…. Well, he looks pained, like he hasn’t taken a crap in five days. Maybe what he needs is a laxative.”

Upon hearing Shepherd’s personal story, you can’t help but feel sorry for the poor guy. The battles he has to fight, but now with Mark’s support and love he will make it through.

Mark and Shepherd are a sweet couple who endured life’s challenges and made it through to their HEA.

This is the first of the Heartsville series and what a great way to start the series with this fantastic book. If you’re looking for a good book with an HEA ending or if you’re looking for a feel good, puts-a-smile-on-your-face, wonderful series this is the one for you.

This was a very sweet story that just fits in with the holidays. The writing was very appealing and smooth and I just loved it. I’ve only read a couple of books by this author and I will definitely look for more of her books. The secondary characters just made me want to jump in and read the rest of the stories.  What I liked most about this series it the town these men live in is very LBGT friendly.

This book starts out on a somber note and then suddenly blazes. Turns muy caliente.

I read this book last (this being part of the Heartsville series) and this being the last book it ended with a bang. The relationship between Teddy and Carter is sizzling. Throw in some family drama and is the Oasis safe or not and The Rocky Horror Picture Show and you got one dynamic book.

I highly recommend this book and even suggest you read this last, meaning get the whole series. You won’t be sorry.

This book is the second of five in the Heartsville Series. I really liked that Nico Jaye had the main two characters have instant chemistry and if you moved to Heartsville you would want these two men for a neighbor. There really wasn’t any twist or turns in this book. But I still liked it.

This was another excellent book of the Heartsville Series. In this book we meet Teddy and his business partner Carter. I loved how the author brought Teddy and Carter together and the explosive attraction that immediately overcomes them both. After reading this book I just couldn’t help but to smile and I think anyone who read this will be smiling as well. This was a new author for me and will definitely be looking for more of her books.

TWO 5 and 4.5 Stars for Clique (Heartsville) by Jayden Brooks #MM #Romance @jaydenbrooks44

1.5

Title: Clique (Heartsville)
Author Name: Jayden Brooks
Publication Date & Length: October 29, 2015 – 78 pgs

Synopsis

Adam Locke’s youthful looks aren’t the blessing everyone seems to think. At twenty-eight, he’s a successful photographer with his own studio and respected by his peers—but that doesn’t seem to matter to the men who catch his eye. Instead, he’s brushed aside like an underage twink with a daddy fetish.

When a hot, bearded stranger stops him from accidentally walking into traffic, Adam looks up and finds the man of his dreams. Unfortunately, his first meeting with Brandon ends with him being dismissed as a kid. Again. Adam can’t help his annoyance. He also can’t help staring (and drooling) whenever he spots Brandon walking through the neighborhood with a different dog.

He watches from afar, wondering about Brandon’s story—until the day he’s dared to take another chance. It’s just the push Adam needs, and finally, he catches Brandon’s interest. Now if only he could figure out the key to getting taciturn Brandon to open up and let Adam in. But Adam knows sometimes all it takes is a little patience for the last piece to click into place.

In the Heartsville Series this book is 4th in a 5 book series and is my favorite. Jayden Brooks has a quirky sarcasm that makes you laugh and even when you shouldn’t laugh you do. Her characters made me want to hang out with them and see what they would say next. I didn’t put this one down. I look forward to reading anything that Jayden writes.

Welcome to the latest installment of the of the Heartsville series. And what an installment it is.

After reading the first two pages one word came to mind:  Wow!  Adam’s thought process is…. unique. It made me gasp and giggle all at the same time. The way he looks at the world and situations is different from anyone elses. Which makes sense because he is a photographer. So, he looks at the world through his own camera lens, so to speak.

Adam and Brandon’s relationship is also extraordinary. It involves various breeds of dogs, including one that loves toes, globe-trotting parents and muscle men who try to make Adam into a sandwich with Adam as the filling.

I highly recommend this book. Not only was it a joy to read but it was very fun and hard to put down.

This is another book from the Heartsville series and what can I say but that I loved it. This is my first book by this author and Jayden Brooks just has a way to make me laugh. I loved that Adam got his story and found love. That all he really wanted, but was constantly taken as a kid not an adult. All though this story, I could be heard laughing and giggling. The theme in this story was clearly an opposite attract and the author was able to keep my interest through the whole book.

Another great book in the Heartsville series. I loved it.

The plot line was fantastic. Brad and Aaron go on a blind date, both of them not knowing that Brad was involved in Aaron being bullied in high school. The question that hung in the air was when Aaron finds out will he push Brad away or accept and forgive him. The suspense hung in the air as I read.

The dialogue is great. The easy way that Brad and Aaron talk to each other is just wonderful. You get to know another family in the gayborhood.

I would highly recommend this book. You can read it as a stand-alone or as part of this great and wonderful series.

This was another great story in the Heartsville Series. This story was sweet and frustrating, but that what makes a great book. This is not a new author for me but I’ve only read a few books by Ms. Knight and this one was thoroughly enjoyable. This was a short and sweet yet a very detailed story. I loved both Brad and Aaron and both just made you want to smile.

Roses, lavender, orchids. A flower shop blooming with flowers with the floral scent surrounding you. This is the setting of this beautiful and wonderful book that I grew to love.

Will has the bare bones of a flower shop in his possession that he doesn’t know what to do with. In walks Milo to rescue him and show him the way. You’re taken on their journey of creating this flower shop with drama aplenty and not knowing what’s going to happen around the corner to a wonderful HEA.

Milo’s mouth is so endearing. Not that way. The words that come out of his mouth have no inhibitions. It’s like his brain is on the Autobahn speeding forward to shoot words out of his mouth with all possible speed. It’s so cute.

Even though Will is maybe 10 years Milos senior he doesn’t treat him like a kid. He values him and respects him and completely appreciates him. He treats him as an equal. I love that in relationships.  Their relationship is simply a beautiful thing.

If you want a book that you can read in front of a roaring fire or one that will help you relax after a long day at work, this is the book for you. This book will put a smile on your face and take you away on a flowery journey. Can you tell, I highly recommend this book.

4 Stars for Bloom Box by Cate Ashwood in the Heartsville Series. This is the last book in the series and I really like Cate Ashwoods book. She has it all going on. It is a perfect way to end this series with a book that keeps your attention and has you loving her men.

FourandHalfStarsThis was the last book in the Heartsville series and I can honestly say I loved all of them. This book was just wonderful. Milo was a very strong character and I loved him from the beginning. There is a 15 year age difference but that doesn’t matter in the end. Both characters are sweet and loving and that is just what Will needs at this point (along with help with his business). Another great story from an author I love.
