This was not a long story not was it a short story. Reality is it was perfect. The length of the book was perfect for this story.

I really loved the characters in this book. Silas and Luke are completely different people but as in most cases opposites attract. And boy did they ever.

Silas tries to be a hard butt but he isn’t really. He really has a soft side to him or at least he does when it comes to Luke. But he also has a very protective side. Once he realizes that he cares what happens to Luke, I believe that he would stop at nothing to protect him.

Luke being a cop follows his instincts about people and they are telling him to trust Silas and so much more.

Does his instincts prove to be right or is Silas truly a fox and cannot be trusted????

I really enjoyed this read. It was full of emotion that did not drag out. It had just enough intrigue and mystery to it but it was also hot!!! Silvia Violet has a good book in hand with Dinner at Foxys. It will definitely be a hit.

This is the third story in this series, however, I have not read any of the previous books.

I felt that the story was more about Luke and his family’s issues, rather than the development of the relationship between Luke and Silas.

Silas is a police officer who is trying to make detective – and while he is in the middle of working a case, Luke’s family steps in to make things difficult.  It would seem that the story would develop from there, but it kind of just stands still for a while.  The secondary characters in this story, also, seemed to be a large part of the story – more so than I would have thought in such a short story.

Luke knows that his family will stop at nothing to obtain his father’s property, but Luke also wants to protect Silas.  I don’t quite know why he wants to keep his involvement a secret and we are never fully satisfied as to why that happens.  Luke’s character is kind and he created his own family within his restaurant.

This was a sweet story.  It had a lot of action and despite being a little slim on the relationship aspect, it worked as a story.

I’m Luke, and I’m a fox. Okay, I’m a fox shifter, but I’m also hot, a smooth-talker, and I give one wild ride. I run a restaurant in Atlanta. We sell the best damn fried chicken you’ve ever eaten. That’s right. I’m a bona fide fox in the henhouse. Our chicken comes in spicy, spicier, and fuck-me- I’m-on- fire.

The dinner shift is crazy as fuck tonight even though my best people are in the kitchen. I don’t know who decided to send me all the large parties, prize-winners for most finicky order, and downright bitchy-as- fuck complainers, but they are all out in force tonight.

I’m about to take a break. I need a whiskey, but a large sweet tea will have to do since I’m working.

The door chimes as it swings open, and I glance up, expecting another party of nine, half of them gluten-free vegans—at a fucking chicken shack—but, no… Fuck me.

It’s that gorgeous blond twink in a cop’s uniform, the one who’s become a regular. His baby face makes him look like he’s playing dress-up. I want to run my hands—and my tongue—over every inch of his smooth, pale skin. He glances my way, and his eyes widen for just a second. Then his tongue slides out to moisten his lips.

Maybe this night is about to improve. Officer Blond and Surely-Not- As-Young-As-He- Looks moves my way. Oh yes. Come to Daddy.

I thought you didn’t do cops.

Sometimes I hate my fucking conscience.

Nothing but trouble there.

I’m not like the rest of my family. I don’t run guns or steal cars. I don’t hurt people or use them. But some of my business interests aren’t exactly what you’d call legal. Hell, the simple fact that I’m a fox shifter makes me suspicious to most people.

However, this is one officer of the law I wouldn’t mind having a close acquaintance with.

The hottie in blue reaches the counter. “What can I do for you, Officer?” I ask.

His cheeks pinken adorably, but he holds eye contact. “You’re the owner, right? Luke Redtail.”

“That’s me.” I wink, and he glances away. This is going to be fun.

“I’m Officer Bixby, and I need to ask you some questions in connection with an investigation. Is there somewhere private we could go?”

My bed. It’s right upstairs. “I’ve got an office in the back. Let me get someone to run the register.”

As I turn toward the kitchen I see my uncle standing in the small side parking lot.

My uncle who’s supposed to be dead. What is he doing here? “Oh fuck!”

As he throws the object in his hand, I scream, “Get down! Now!” I grab my cop and haul him over the counter. Thank God for shifter strength. I wrap myself around him, but in the shock of the blast, we hit the floor.

THREE 5 Star and ONE 4 Star Reviews for Endings and Beginnings (Collars & Cuffs #8) by K.C. Wells & Parker Williams (AUTHOR INTERVIEW) #MM #BDSM

EndingsandBeginningsFSTitle: Endings and Beginnings (Collars & Cuffs #8)
Author Name & Publisher: K.C. Wells & Parker Williams  (Dreamspinner Press)
Publication Date & Length: July 18, 2016 – 121,429 Words

Synopsis

In all his relationships, Darren Fielding never found the level of intimacy he witnessed between Thomas Williams and his sub, Peter, the day of Peter’s “rebirth.” Not only that, he never realized such intimacy was possible. For two years, Thomas’s business card has been burning a hole in his wallet. When Darren’s lover moves on, maybe it’s finally time to see where that card takes him.

Collars & Cuffs’s new barman, JJ Taylor, is really conflicted right now. He went to the club with a very specific purpose, already convinced of what he’d find there. Except it’s not what he expected at all. He certainly didn’t anticipate finding himself drawn to the new wannabe Dom. Nor could he have guessed the direction that attraction would lead him.

Old love, new love, vows, pain, rage, moving in, moving on…. The members of Collars & Cuffs face an event that touches some of them deeply, but it will only reinforce what they already know: together they are stronger, and some bonds cannot be broken.

I really enjoyed this book. We got to see almost all of the characters from previous books, which was great, I loved seeing how they are now and what they have been up to. We got to see another great relationship form. Darren and JJ were perfect for each other, they both just wanted each other so bad and you could feel that in their story. Of course the sex was off the charts. Once again we saw how people who aren’t family can be more family than our true family. I love the closeness of everyone, it just feels right. I hate that this is the last book in the series but I am hoping that the last chapter may have been a hint that there is another series in the works.

This series has been an absolute favorite of mine. All of the characters of collars and cuffs are not only a part of the BDSM community but they are family.

In this book the collars and cuffs family comes together to support Peter after old pain resurfaces after finding out that his old tormentor killed himself in prison but not only that they also find out that JJ was his son.

JJ carries around the pain of what his father did to others and when he first went to work at collars and cuffs he went to prove his dad’s innocents but found instead that not only is he guilty but that he also found th family he has always been looking for.

Once he meets Darren his whole life changes and JJ realizes he wants to try his submissive tendencies out with Darren as his Dom. So these two men take a journey through BDSM together. They not only find the mutual connection where that is concerned but each other and more friends and family at collars and cuffs.

All of the members of collars and cuffs are their for one another no matter the occasion and they support each other even from afar if need be.

This book was much like the others in the aspect that it kept me held captive till the very end. KC Wells amazes me with being able to make each book better then the last and this book was no exception to that. I truly enjoyed this read and look forward to reading for from KC in the future.

I can’t believe this series is ending. It was a great privilege to travel this road with two exceptional authors. I certainly hope that these authors will consider a new collaboration as I felt their writing styles complemented each other in ways that you never knew who was doing the writing.

In this book we get to meet Darren and JJ. The authors we spot on for the character development and I immediately fell in love with both MC’s. It was also great to see the characters from the previous books make an appearance.  Darren and JJ had a really sweet connection and it was really wonderful to see and experience their joys and their tribulations in the effort to build a relationship. I just can’t say enough about the writing duo of Wells and Williams. Every book they write immediately draws me in and it does not want to let me go. In this book we had everything from a couple who leaves town to a death (not telling!!)-the endings and a wedding to opening a house for homeless young people-the beginnings. There was also the hint of a new series (YEA!!) and I certainly hope that it happens.

This book was an exceptional ending with hopes for a new beginning for a new series and I applaud the authors for a completed task that will have me re-reading these books for years to come.

Lynn

FourStars

First off, I have read the previous books in this series and for the most part, really enjoyed them.  While I did give this book 4 stars, it was more due to the style of writing.  This was, so far, my least favorite of the series.

Let’s start with the bomb drop – while I can understand why people are upset, it seemed that this book focused a lot on that.  I thought this was Darren’s story.

For me, this story seemed to almost drag on.  While I was happy that I was able to see some closure on other relationships, this story was far less about Darren and JJ’s story than it was about the culmination of what was happening at the club, which, in my opinion, weakened the story.

The jumping back and forth between couples was sometimes difficult to follow and while I know who are friends and in what capacity, it was sometimes too much all jumbled, which left the conversations underdeveloped.

When Darren and JJ were the center of attention, they had a much weaker connection than the other couples.  Their connection began with mistrust and while they worked on trust, I don’t know if they ever truly found the peace they were both looking for.

The premise is that they both wanted what everyone else had.  However, it seemed that they are still plodding along in their journey, because their story was so broken up and splattered between everyone else and their drama.

While I love the series, this just didn’t work very well for me.  There was a lack of chemistry and connection between Darren and JJ for me.

“Honey, I’m home.”

Alex laughed and came out of the kitchen to greet his husband. “We’ve talked about this, right? You do not walk into this apartment and talk to me like I’m the little wife.”

Leo kissed him soundly on the cheek. “Aw, but you’d look great in an apron, holding a glass of beer out for your weary, hard-working hubby.” He smirked. “And besides, no one in their right mind would call you little.”

Alex quirked his eyebrows. “One, you don’t drink beer, which is why there’s a glass of chilled chardonnay on the living room table, waiting for you. Two, excuse me—weary? Hard-working? You’ve been standing around in leather chaps and a harness, watching while guys do all manner of things to each other, which probably included a lot of fucking, because, hey, it’s Saturday night, right?”

Leo sighed happily. “What can I say? I love my job.”

I fell in love with both Bryan and Justice. These two men are both so strong, have strong jobs( one a marine the other a cop and former marine) but they lack one thing in their relationship…. Communication.

These two men have experienced so much hurt in the past in their relationship when they lost their daughter. It affected each men differently and instead of turning to one another they handled their grief differently.

Because of their lack of communication their marriage is on the rocks and it may not be able to be fixed especially since Justice has decided it was time to file for a divorce and put an end to their pain, heartache, and hurt from one another.

This book is a perfect example of what the lack of communication and thinking what the other feels instead of actually talking about it can end up ruining a perfectly happy marriage. It is an example that no matter how long u have been together that no one is a mind reader and we can all misunderstand what the other is thinks no or feeling if we do talk to one another.

This was only a short story but it was very powerful with a lot of emotions flowing through it that me as a reader was able to feel. Hoping their will be more of these two in a longer book in the future cause they are definitely worthy of more.

Great book and look forward to reading more by Laquette in the future.

Tosha

FourStars

This was a sweet story, however, I felt that this was only the beginning of their story.  Most of this was about their background, how they came to where they are presently in their life, their relationship and how they see themselves.

This was a very quick read, with a lot of information in it.  The reader has to quickly understand what’s going on, because LaQuette’s story is fast paced.

I wish that there had been more – I felt that this was an unfinished story and one that LaQuette could have drawn a great conclusion with, but chose not to.  I am hoping that there will be more to follow, but at the same time, hope that it is not drawn out in to 3 or 4 more books, because that would just be very annoying.

Overall though, this was sweet and a great start to what could be a great story.

If this book would have been longer I think it would have been better. Bryan was shot in the line of duty and realized that he wants to stay with his estranged husband Justice. Justice has wanted to be with Bryan the whole time, while Bryan didn’t but has now decided enough is enough. This was basically just a book with the two of them fighting back and forth on if they should stay together or not and then Justice’s family intervenes and helps them to find out what is best for them both. If we would have gotten more of the back story BEFORE the shooting and not just bits and pieces I think it would have been much better.

This was an excellent book. I loved the chemistry between Michelin and Lucky. That makes for what I consider as a really HOT book. The men in this story were absolutely amazing and I immediately feel in love with both of them. Michelin does come across as a man who just doesn’t have it in him to stand up for himself. That’s ok with me even though he’s dealing with Lucky who appears taking the bull by the horns. There were clearly many things that these two men had to work out but when they did it was amazing. The author writing style made this a really easy read and even though this book can be read as a standalone I will definitely go back and read the previous stories.

Lynn

FourStars

This was a sweet story that developed somewhat slowly.

Michelin is a rising star in the county music circuit.  He knows that if he comes out, his career could be over.  I found that his wishy-washiness detracted from the character that he could have been.  I thought that he would have stood up to his label more, but ultimately, he was not a very strong main character.  I can appreciate that Michelin struggled with the way he came out, but once it’s over and done with, he takes almost the entire story to come to terms.  It would have been nice to see him stand up and do more.

Lucky, however, is a different story.  While he has been out and proud for a while, he tries to understand where Michelin is coming from.  I think Lucky did the right thing in making Michelin decide for himself whether or not he was OK with being gay.
I love Lucky’s personality and what he does for a living.  I love that he’s not afraid to be himself, despite what others might think.  I think that he was my saving grace in this story.

Overall, it was a sweet story, but I would have loved to see more of their “after” life.

AvidReader

FourStars

The third book in this series is a little more mature and slightly more serious than the previous two reality TV focused books. While still fun and very sexy, this is definitely an adult, rather than a new adult title.

Unlike the younger characters in the first two books, Michelin Moses is an established star. Lucky might be younger, but his confidence and strength of character makes him feel older even than Michelin. It took me some time to warm to the closeted star. His insecurities and his martyrdom felt whiny at times and I spent most of the story wanting him to take control of his life, stand up for himself and Lucky and make some concrete decisions. But Lucky – I loved him from the moment we first see him go go dancing in combat boots. Where Michelin is an insecure, indecisive mess for most of the story, Lucky is confident, clever and unapologetic.

There were times I couldn’t decide whether I liked Lucky and Michelin as a couple. I wasn’t always convinced that Michelin understood and supported Lucky’s dancing. All the drama focuses on Michelin and his insecurities about being outed. I wanted more care for Lucky through the story. There are some very sexy scenes between the two and some moving moments that really resonated with me.

Controlling agents and studios are becoming a slightly overused trope in m/m fiction about musicians and film stars and not much is fresh about the pressures facing Michelin in this story. I enjoy pretend boyfriend stories but the only thing saving this story from mediocrity is the strength of characterisation and the warmth of Ms Albert’s writing.

This was a very quick read.  I didn’t really enjoy it due to its predictability.  Before you arrived at the conflict, you knew what was coming.

While this story was a good story, it lacked depth and complexity.  You knew right away that the owner of the garage was mean and a bigot, you knew that Chandler and Mark would live together.

I think that this would have been a much stronger story had you begun with the end of this one and continued on in their lives – what happens next?

The characters could develop more in their new lives and you would have seen more of what is happening now.

I enjoyed reading about the 3 separate couples coming to the island to live out their fantasies. The book also highlights the 3 owners of the island, James, Guard and Damien. I’m a huge fan of BDSM and this

We read about Benji, the picture perfect model obsessed with body modifications, but too afraid to step foot into a tattoo/body piercing studio on his own. And Thor the badass Dom who’s looking for a full-time submissive, who happens to know a thing or two about tattoos and body piercings since he his own studio.

Then we come to Alan and Roman. Alan wants nothing more than to please his Master, Roman. So when Roman asks Alan to sub for other Doms who specialize in certain activities that Roman isn’t comfortable doing, Alan is only too eager to please. Only Alan isn’t prepared for the instant attraction he has to one of the Dom’s and it scares him so much he’s unable to finish the scene.

Finally, we have Quinn and Pierce. Quinn is afraid if Pierce finds out about his medical fetishes he won’t love him anymore. He wants to experience them on the island in the hopes of putting them in his past and leaving them there. What he isn’t prepared for, is for Pierce to be the one who was brought to the island to allow all the fantasies to come true. When Pierce discovers Quinn’s desires, it brings about a whole new set of desires from Pierce that both men are anxious to experience.

I can’t say that I’ve ever read any of Sean Michael’s books before so I’m very excited to read the next book in this series. I’m anxious to find out the conclusion between James, Guard and Damien. The author gives the reader snippets into the men’s past that has left James in a wheelchair and his 2 lover laden with guilt.

Kris

FiveStars

I have to say that I was complete surprised by just go much I really enjoyed this book. I knew that it would be an erotic book but I love that each of the three fantasies had a story line behind them and each story line was different from the last.

If I had to choose whose was my favorite it would have been Benji and Thor. I enjoyed the other two couples fantasies but Benji and Thor did not know one another before hand and they just clicked from the start. It was like they had always been together and because of the ability to have this fantasy two people came together and fell head over heals for each other.

But what I liked the most about this book was the story line behind Damien, Guard and James. You can tell there is a lot of hurt, guilt, love, passion, and pain between these three men and I cannot wait to see what exactly comes of the three of them in the next book in this series.

I have to say that Sean Michael did an amazing job on this book and has me on edge when it comes to reading the next book.

This book was great, but I’ve come to expect no less from Sean Michael. He writes primarily BDSM books (although he has written other types of books) but I do love his BDSM books. This book will definitely give you several different types of kink. I love how this author is able to eloquently write three total different types of stories of fantasy and combine it into one book. This book seems to have everything in it, from sweet to giving me my BDSM kinks. I have always loved Sean Michael’s writing style and in this book I was able to just read and enjoy and know that I was getting a great quality read. I don’t usually talk about the actual story as I like to review the author instead but I have to say that I can’t wait to read the second installment as I really need to find out the whole story between Guard, Damian and James. Overall this was another excellent story from an author I love to read as I can get my BDSM fix and still read about love.

Lynn

FourandHalfStars

Let me start this review by saying that I enjoy Sean Michael’s books.  This was no exception.

I think that it lost 1/2 a star from me because we only were really given the three wishes, but at the beginning of the story, there was so much more hinted at.  Without more details or a resolution, I felt that this was a very incomplete story – and, yes, while I understand that this is going to be a series, I was still wishing to have more background information on James, Guard and Damien.

First wish:  Thor and Benji. These two were very opposite – personality wise, build wise and temperament.  However, because this fantasy was one of Benji wanting to be dominated, it worked well enough.  I thought that Michael did an amazing job at describing the artwork, as well as the emotions that Benji was going through.  I could really see their story unfolding.

Second wish:  Alan and Roman.  This was my least favorite of them all.  I thought that the premise was very intriguing, however, the delivery was less than stellar.  I didn’t really think there was a conflict, per say in this scenario.  It seemed that both parties wanted it to be exhibitionism and that this was the most tame of the wishes that the island provided.  I also didn’t really like how I was left feeling that this wish was somehow truncated – did they end up with a deeper connection?  Or just learn to avoid Alan being attracted?  This fantasy was not super successful for me.

Third wish:  Quinn and Pierce.  This was a great fantasy that developed from an existing desire.  I think that it was fairly successful because once you know their background, why they are there, everything seems to fall in to place.  And, while they are still learning how to cope with desires and reality, you get to join them on their adventure.  I liked the dynamic between these two characters a lot and felt that they had a great connection both while in scene and out of it.  They had the most communication regarding their relationship and it felt that they were truly able to grow while living out their fantasy.

Overall, I liked this book.  It was a quick read and even though I was disappointed that we were not given more on the main characters, I am hopeful that we will be given more in time.

Too bad his job as a detective has him busy dealing with a serial murder case. Good thing, the sexy lawyer is also on the case and it gives him a reason to see him.

Keaton might be a shark in the courtroom, winning almost every single case he tries, but he is submissive in the bedroom. It’s hard to balance his work life with his private life and finding someone that can handle both aspects of his personality.

When they realize they all know each other and there is desire between the three of them, things get hot. But, can three really make a relationship instead of two?

The serial murderer isn’t going to wait for them to figure out their situation. He is on the hunt for dommes and isn’t leaving much behind for the police to use to find him.

So many things to like in this book. The sex scenes were hot. H. O. T. The kink was good, integrated within the story, integral to the plot, but not overwhelming. The emotions of all three characters made the relationship between them all. No, they don’t expect everything to be roses all the time. They expect problems and issues, but they all have a desire to work through them. A realistic viewpoint. The serial killer case upped the tension and anticipation, knowing that something was going to happen. I would say, though, that it was difficult swinging between the two extremes of the plot. The romance/erotica/relationship story had such a different feel from the police procedural/murder mystery/cop thriller, and sometimes the transition between the two was difficult to traverse. Both storylines were good, both kept my attention, but they evoked very different reactions, and I’m not sure those went together as well. Also, there was a lot of foreshadowing, enough that I felt confident in who the perp was, and how things would come to a head. That didn’t lessen my enjoyment at all. I liked the emphasis on the feelings of Julia, Garrison, and Keaton, and how they all worked through honest communication to get to a place where everybody was happy with the relationship. All in all, this was a very enjoyable read.

What did I just read? Brilliance is what that was! Plus look at that cover…oh freaking my, sexy, sexy. This story had a little bit of everything that crosses of the must have list. It had the suspense, it had the D/s, it had the love and emotions. It didn’t have that insta-love and fairytales, which for me is all the better. Garrison and Julia have amazing marriage and understand, trust, respect each other to help the other with what they need in life. The characters had to work for the relationship, yet the relationship felt real not forced or fake. I liked that Julia and Garrison knew Keaton in their own unique ways. It helps to show that the deep connection that was there and why the emotions bloomed so well. They felt real with real issues and fears, like they were your neighbors. Garrison and Julia may have been a strong couple, but with the addition of Keaton, the three are a powerhouse throuple and so dang sexy too, mmhmm.
The flow was smooth; the storyline was coherent. I enjoyed having the 3 POVs, so I could get to know each one and I did. Garrison was my favorite, he cracked me up, yet his love for his wife to let her do what she needs is amazing. Once I started reading, I could not set this book down.

I love Orman books.  This one did not disappoint.  The characters are well developed and the story flows easily.
Julia, Garrison and Keaton are all living their lives – doing what they love and trying to figure out how to be happy.
I love that Julia is both Domme and sub.  I think that it gives her a unique experience and with her skills, she is able to fulfill many desires.  I also really like that she keeps her client’s secret, even from Garrison.  I think that it makes her situation throughout the story much more real.  When she is faced with a situation, she handles herself with grace and strength.
Then you have Garrison, who is working hard to figure out who is hurting Domme’s in his town.  Not only does he not really have a clue who is doing this, but he has to figure out his feelings for DA Keaton.  While he loves his wife, he also knows that he enjoys being with men too.  Julia knows and accepts this about him, so he just needs to figure out if Keaton should be with them as a couple, him alone or not at all.
Finally, you have Keaton.  I loved his character.  He was strong, brave and unafraid of what he desires.  He knows that his lifestyle could put him in the hot seat, so he’s thankful that he found someone who will keep his secret.  When he figures out how everything is connected, he has to make the decision to leap and hope that nothing bad will happen.
The three of them have OK chemistry, but I do wish that we would have seen them more on a one and one basis.  I felt like we heard all about their relationship, but didn’t really get to see it develop.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story.  It had great chemistry and the mystery was intriguing.

Rachael Orman you completely and totally blew me away. I have not read any of Rachael Orman’s previous books but I can guarantee you that I will be doing so now. This is a book that is full of lust, respect, dommes, submissives, dominates, love, cravings, mystery, murder, BDSM, and so much more. What more can a girl ask for? Oh yeah I know, male/male/female relations. But guess what, it has that too.

This is one of those books that when you start reading it sucks you in immediately and does not let go till the very end and even then you are left wishing you had not finished the book yet because you want more. It is one of those books that even when it ismidnight you do not want to put the book down because you have to know what is going to happen next.

Garrison and Julia are happily married and if push came to shove, they are not missing anything in their relationship. They are truly a couple that most would love to base their own relationship off of but Julia is submissive to Garrison but is a Domme to others in her part time line of work. Garrison is also bisexual but they have never let those two things come between them. I honestly do not think that they ever would have either. But both of them being attracted to Keaton was a plus in their marriage because both was able to get to explore parts of themselves that they normally would not have.

In my opinion, it was inevitable for the three of these people to end up together. They each complimented one another in ways that made them all better people and happier in their lives. It is as if in my opinion, that they are made for one another. The three of them together is better all together then they ever could be apart.

With the murders happening around them, it throws an extra spin into the book that made it even more captivating. I really enjoyed reading this book so much and I cannot wait to read more books by Rachael Orman. She is a spectacular author and this book is proof of that. Amazing job!!!!

This was a great short story.  It had all of the makings of being able to be more too, but I was very happy with the story that unfolded.

Yancy is writing the story of his lover, Curt’s struggle with suicide.  It is Yancy’s way of healing and allowing Curt’s story to be heard in order to, hopefully make talk of suicide and depression something more tangible and real.

Enter Hume.  Right away, Laine gives Hume a snake like quality.  You can just tell that he’s not up to any good and when he is seen for who he truly is, it’s one of those “I knew it!” moments.  It was very satisfying to see him get what he deserved.

I loved how Curt was able to help Yancy through this emotional struggle, but I loved even more how he was just there for Yancy in a way that nobody else was able to be.

This was sweet and heartwarming.

4 Star Review for My Busboy by John Inman #MM #Mystery

Author Name & Publisher: John  Inman (Dreamspinner Press)

This was a sweet story that had a great mystery thrown in.  I enjoyed Inman’s story of connection, love, friendship and life.

Chaz is a great character.  He is a friend, wannabe lover, protector and ultimately he’s, hopefully found a new interest.  I enjoyed his snarkiness and his love of Robert.  He’s almost loyal to a fault.

Robert is a somewhat conundrum of a character.  He wants to be the bookworm, but he’s also supposed to be slightly more mature than Dario.  While his writing career is not going as well as he had hoped, he’s not without his successes.  I thought it was very “Robert” that he allowed his stalker to continue to write him without feeling the least bit scared.  Robert seemed to not be very interested in self preservation throughout this story.  However, you can see his kind heart when he continues to support (in whatever way he’s able) his friend, Bucky.  He wants better things for his friend, but can only help when Bucky is ready and willing.

Dario is a sweet kid.  He tries very hard to fit in to the grownup world, but his choice of boyfriends leaves something to be desired.  He also has somewhat of a starry-eyed view of Robert.  He does some growing up in this book, but for the most part, he starts to realize that Robert is just a man who is trying to build a relationship.

Overall, this was a good story with a mystery that helped create a bond for all of the characters.

This was a really good read. It had a shifter, it had murder, and it had passion.

Mason is a shifter mystery writer. So when he comes face to face to a real shifter and finds out that they are mates he is not to thrown for a loop.

What does throw everyone is the mysterious murders and attempted murders that keep happening around them.

The real mystery of this book is who is behind the murders?

I enjoyed reading this book and reading about Mason and Xavi coming together and finding each other. I also enjoyed reading about the murders and waiting impatiently to find out who was behind it and who was next on the list. I also enjoyed the intrigue of not knowing till Elizabeth Coldwell decided to let it be known who was behind everything and the reason behind it.

This was a good story with an amazing love story. Cannot wait till the next book comes out.

ThreeandHalfStars

This is the first book of this series that I have had the pleasure of reading.  While I can’t say that I am hooked on the series, this story was complete and I never felt lost as to who characters were or how they were connected.

The mystery aspect of this story was, for me, very predictable. I was able to guess the perpetrator right away, which took some of the luster away from the story for me.

I thought that the secondary characters were less than stellar – the only one that I liked was Nora.  I thought that the other characters were a little flat and did not add anything to the story.

Then you have the main two characters, Xavi and Mason.  While I liked their dialogue, I didn’t really feel a great connection between them.  It was kind of forced and did not have a very smooth flow.

Overall, this was an OK story with an OK mystery attached.  The romance aspect was not fantastic, but more of a YA romance.
