Book nine in this series was a good read and I like that Jenna took it a little further by bringing in a teacher as a main character and not mention Fahey’s son as a supporting character.

With the new drug going around Con’s school this leads to Fahey meeting Reilly. Reilly is one on Con’s teacher and helps how he can to take down those individuals that are distributing drugs at the school.

Fahey and Reilly come together under not so great circumstances with the drug problem but their chemistry is off the charts.

I also like how Con was honest about his own sexuality and that Fahey would do whatever necessary to help his son to deal with the outcome.

Great read!!

FiveStars

Book six has to be the best thus far.

Rainey is the new detective in town so he is not the most established with such a tight knit group of people and to be thrown into an investigation around the murder of gays and addicts does not make his newness any better. He has not earned the trust of his team yet but as time goes on they realize that he is good at his job and takes it seriously. Almost so much so that he gets close to ruining the other important part of his life with Josh his long term partner.

Rainey and Josh have a strong relationship when Rainey moves to the KCPD and even though they have a few issues they become a stronger couple as the book goes on. The love they share is the true kind of love and it is hot inside of and outside of the bedroom.

Another great read.

4 Stars for Gage’s Gift (Kansas City Heat #5) by Jenna Byrnes #MM #Police @PridePublishing

1.2

Title: Gage’s Gift (Kansas City Heat #5)
Author Name: Jenna Byrnes
Publication Date: March 27, 2015

Synopsis

A child is snatched from her home, the one place she should feel safe. Will the KCPD find her before something more sinister happens?

Detective DeMarcus Gage of the KCPD Missing Persons Unit knows that most child abductions are perpetrated by family members or persons known to the child. True ‘stranger’ abductions are rare—and taken very seriously by the police. When eight year old Leticia Braden disappears from her front yard the family is ruled out as suspects but actual leads are few.

Her traumatized parents need all the support they can get, and designate Leticia’s uncle Jack Braden to be their liaison with detectives. When he meets Jack, Gage struggles to keep his mind on the case. The two men share an immediate case of lust, which they fight to keep under control for more reasons than one. Jack’s not out of the closet, and Gage isn’t keen about sneaking around. A relationship beckons, but finding Leticia is their first priority. And as every cop knows, time is not on their side.

This was anothe good quick read in the Kansas City Heat series. Being book five I am glad that Jenna is keeping with the thyme of the last books and bringing in yet another mystery. This time around is a kidnapping of an 8 year old girl.

Gage is the one on the case to find this little girl and as everyone knows time is of the essence when it comes to an kidnapping.

Jack is the little girls uncle and the family liaison for the family with the police. There is a definite attraction between both men but finding the little girl is important and on top of Gage’s priority list. Even still the men end up together.

The only problem is that Jack is firmly in the closet and Gage is not having any kind of part of that.

I love to read a book where one is in the closest and the other is in the open because it bring anguish to the relationship and does not leave the book so predictable as too how the outcome of the fall out will occur.

This is the second book in the Kansas City Heat series and I did enjoy it. It is a good series and I think many will think so.

I loved Nick and I love the connection that he has with Rob and the element of mystery to the book with the home invasion and looking for stolen goods. I also like the element of one of the main characters having secrets from the other because that puts more of a spin on things when one of the main characters second guesses the other because of not knowing them as well as they should.

What I would have liked to see in this book in the series is that there would have been more of a challenge in the two men getting together because if each book has the main characters falling in love almost instantly then it is going to make the books to predictable to want to read.

Other then that this is another good book to the series and I look forward to seeing how the next book will turn out.

I have to say I didn’t even realize this story was in a series until I sat down to write my review. It was a very good stand alone story that didn’t feel like anything was left out without having read the other books in the series.
This is a world that is after Earth as we know it has been destroyed. I absolutely loved the world that the author created. It was believable and intriguing.
The relationship between the two main characters was touching. They had a romance that was exploitative in their youth, but stopped however, their friendship was able to continue to thrive until Connor can’t hold it in anymore. While I normally don’t care for the tease of two characters never actually getting down to the dirty.. this actually worked and I liked that they were so tentative with each other and taking each step deeper into their relationship.
The drama that we get from the story come from the facility itself and the leadership within. While I wouldn’t have minded more information about how things came to be the way they were, it wasn’t hard to go with the story as it was written. I thought it was extremely creative the way the ‘bad guys’ were handled.
In the end I want to go back and start with the first book since this story was so well written.

This was a quick little story by Amy Lane that was sweet and sexy and has a super hot scene that includes… a shirt.
I loved how the story starts where they are together and reflects back upon their early days and how they came to be together.
This is most definitely the light fluffy Amy Lane, not the dark, angsty one. But as usual even for as short as the story was and the fact that I’m not normally a fan of sweet romance, it was well written and sucked me in like only Amy Lane can do.

I have to say that I absolutely LOVED this story. The way the two men came together and how they don’t realize what it is they are feeling until they are forced to face it.
With there being a huge secret right at the beginning its hard to not give any spoilers for this story, but I’ll say that it was absolutely believable and that it’s another hit from Charlie Cochet. Once I picked up the story, I couldn’t put it down. I was sucked in and had to know what was going to come next for Kelly and the men that he worked with and the horrible situation they found themselves in.
While it is a bit of a fluffy romance, I still thoroughly enjoyed it simply because of the way that Charlie Cochet writes her stories.

He has a great life as a beta in the Cloverleah Pack, and while danger still threatens the pack, he has his friend’s wedding to look forward too, and the pleasures that come from hookups in random places. He’d like to meet his mate, just so he’s not the odd one out in the inner circle, but it’s not something he’s expecting anytime soon. So when a hookup just before the wedding leaves Tobias with a permanent scar, he wonders where the heck his life went wrong. Especially when the man responsible for the wicked set of tooth marks, disappeared after the deed was done, to ring a man called Kurt.

Kurt and Luke have been mated for three years. As bear shifters, Kurt has known from puberty that he will two mates and once he’d claimed Luke, his mama warned him to be on the look out for a human female. So when Luke rings him and lets him know he might have accidentally on purpose bitten a wolf shifter, from some town they’d never heard of, Kurt heads to Cloverleah to sort out the mess.

Sorting out their mating is just one of the things the three men have to contend with. A magic user has stepped up his game and no where on packlands seems safe. When Tobias gets taken, Kurt and Luke are helpless to do anything about it. It’s going to take the power of the pack before life will be safe again, for any of them.

This series has just totally captured my heart. I have read each of the books in it so far and I am now impatiently waiting for the next book to come out so I can see what it goin to happen next.

It seems that with each new mating that happens, it happens right when the pack needs it the most. These men in this pack have a calling and that calling is bringing everyone together to a group of men that not only have the strength to protect their pack but also innocents. They have a destiny and even if they do not know what that destiny is just yet, they do they can only accomplish it together.

Danger and evil keeps seeking this pack out and instead of the stress of it caring a wedge between the mates or pack members it does the opposite and brings them all closer together.

And once again in this book, fate has stepped in just in time and brought together three mates (Tobias, Kurt, and Luke) just when their bond was needed the most for not only the pack but for them.

Lisa Oliver is just truly an amazing aunt to be able to come up with a long standing series and make each book more exciting then the last.

5 Stars for The Firebird and Other Stories (Beings in Love #5) by R. Cooper #MM #Fae

1.5

Title: The Firebird and Other Stories (Beings in Love #5)
Author Name & Publisher: R. Cooper (Dreamspinner Press)
Publication Date & Length: September 18, 2015 – 350 pgs

Synopsis

Magical creatures known as beings emerged from hiding amid the destruction of the First World War. Since then they’ve lived on the margins of the human world as misunderstood objects of fear and desire. Some are beautiful, others fearsome and powerful. Yet for all their magic and strength, they are as vulnerable as anyone when it comes to matters of the heart.

A firebird in 1930s Paris is drawn to a writer with a haunted past. Upon returning from fighting in the Pacific, a jaguar shifter finds a third-gender human on his doorstep. Early rock ‘n’ roll DJ Hyacinth the fairy shocks his listeners with his admiration for his quiet assistant. During the AIDS crisis, a gruff, leather-wearing troll dreams of a settled life with a mixed-species elf across the bar. An imp, who remembers only too well how cruel the world can be, tells himself he’s content to stay behind the scenes—if only his chaotic, impish magic would stop getting in the way. And a shy human tending his poisonous and carnivorous plants is convinced no one will ever want him, certainly not the handsome werewolf grieving for a lost mate. Human or being, all must overcome fear to reach for love.

My words are no match for the exquisite language of The Firebird and Other Stories. At 350 pages, it takes a long time to read. Every word must be poured over, examined, experienced. The stories themselves aren’t short, either. They rise and fall, starting with Human or Other and ending with Us.
Most of the stories are historical and sweep me into the past with intoxicating feelings. The fairies and imps and jaguars are out of Place, but in Time. There’s more sensuality than sex, and it isn’t missed. Cooper writes with great care.
Just one of these stories would be worth the price of admission. Cooper gives generously and days later the characters still live inside me.

Synopsis

Josh moved from the huge San Antonio pack to join the men at Cloverleah looking for a bit more adventure, and the chance to meet his mate. A chance visit from the Atlanta coven has him meeting the man he was waiting for. It was just a damn shame he was unconscious at the time.

Vadim D’Arcy should be the Regent of the Atlanta coven, but he gave up his position years before when a personal tragedy had him hiding away in his huge mansion. Forced into a situation where he had to escort a cursed vampire to Cloverleah, he realizes pretty quickly that Josh is his true match. The only problem is, he doesn’t want one.

However threats on the pack, and two interfering Fae soon nudge the two men back together. Fighting other wolves, and even vampires is becoming commonplace for the Cloverleah pack. But a dark magic user just might have the last laugh. Can Vadim fight his personal demons long enough to keep his mate safe, and will Josh be there for him when he does? Or will a combined attack from the coven and the pack in Atlanta bring the entire Cloverleah pack to its knees?

Warnings: This is an m/m erotic romance featuring a sweet but staunch beta wolf, an old as sin vampire and all your other favorites from Cloverleah. HEA and no cliff hangers guaranteed.

At this point in the series I can honestly say that I am not surprised that Lisa Oliver was able to create yet again another book in the series that was better then the last.

This book has everything in it from unlikely mates, to more danger, to almost losing a mate, and it even has a dead bonded mate that will not let go even in death. In other words, another incredible read!!!!

Josh and Vadim is probably the most unlikely true mates thus far in this series because Josh is a wolf shifter and Vadim is a vampire. The reason for them being the most unlikely mates is because normally a wolf and vampire do not have anything to do with each other. But when these two men come together the fireworks explode.

As far as Josh and Vadim goes I believe that their bond is really something special because they truly had the most obstacles to overcome to be able to be together including death.

I cannot wait to read book 8 because I KNOW it will be amazing

Tosha

Excerpt

“Everett was known as your favorite, yet you have set him free, compelled him to leave you and never return. You have met your true match, my son.” Not a question, but a statement of fact. Vadim opened his eyes, knowing he could never lie directly to his mother. He nodded instead, as his brain once again focused on Josh. What would the young wolf be feeling, knowing that Vadim had bonded with him without permission and then rejected him as a mate? Maybe some of the pain he was feeling was coming from his mate, even if they were separated by miles. That idea didn’t make him feel any better.

“The wolf you healed?” This time his persistent mother was asking a question so Vadim nodded again.

“And you didn’t think to stay and protect him?”

Letting out a deep breath in an effort to calm himself, Vadim said slowly, “I came here to protect him, from this coven and the Atlanta pack.”

“That didn’t work out too well for you now, did it?” Eloise had a small smile on her face as though a lot happier now she knew the reason behind the loss of Vadim’s fabled control. “What are you going to do?”

Vadim would have shrugged but that was a little hard to do with his arms strung up, so he was forced to speak instead. “Wait out my punishment. If I am released in time I will go home and sort out my affairs. Either way I anticipate it will all be over for me in six weeks as I haven’t fed for a while.”

In a strong flowing movement Eloise stood up, gliding over to where Vadim was chained, her gown settling around her feet in a soft mist. The finery of the pale blue looked incongruous against the dirty concrete floor.

“You would die rather than accept your true match? Why would you do such a cruel thing to your wolf? Is he that disfigured from the attack on him that you cannot look past it?” Vadim realized his mother was not only shocked, she was hurt as well, and damn it all, Vadim didn’t like it when the lovely woman was upset. So he answered as honestly as he knew how.

“Josh is beautiful, mother,” Vadim assured her softly, remembering all too well the lovely features of his mate’s face. They would be scorched in his brain until he took his last breath. “He is a loyal fighter, a beta wolf, with tanned skin and light hair that glows like a halo in the sun. There is nothing wrong with him at all.”

“Then why?” Easily asked, harder to answer.

“Because I made a promise, mother, surely you can understand.” Vadim’s voice hardened. “My true match, my mate, he’s a wolf and he deserves to be loved with an open heart. To be held and cared for, to be protected and cherished in the way of a wolf, not bonded forever to a vampire with no heart.”
