Review

FiveStars This has to be the most controversial book in the series so far for these pack of men. This book has a little bit of everything from military generals turning on their men to new pack member not being who he claims to be and endangering everyone in the pack.

This book is about Troy and Anton. After months of waiting to meet formally, they think that their time has finally come. But fate has different plans for these two men and if they are not careful they may never get to meet each other in person. There are more than one source trying to keep these men apart. They both have to have faith in each other, which is not easy to since they have never met.

I believe that this mating is probably the hardest to accomplish and once they do, both men have to figure out if they do trust the other or would it be better to walk away. I really enjoyed this book. It had so much mystery mixed into it along with the fact that these two men just could not seem to get it together. They are both insecure and have things they need to work out within themselves before they are able to commit fully to each other. And as always Lisa left this book ending with a cliff hanger and left me waiting for more.

Great read!!!

Synopsis

Scott Peterson, beta wolf in the Cloverleah Pack, has a good life. He loves his cars, riding his Harley, and going out with pack members and friends. But when an attack on his pack by a bear shifter, brings his mate into his world, from Texas of all places, Scott realizes he could lose everything he ever held dear.

Damien, Alpha wolf of the San Antonio Pack, didn’t want to go to Cloverleah and definitely didn’t want to be chasing a rogue bear shifter that was threatening the Alpha of the Cloverleah Pack. But he was in for a pleasant surprise when he finds his mate. Now, if he could just find the time to enjoy him.

Between murderous bears, deceptive wolves, two packs and a BDSM club, the road to HEA is anything but smooth for Scott and Damien. And then there’s a fire, and an Alpha Challenge, and let’s not forget Diablo and Griff’s wedding. About the only thing Scott and Damien haven’t got is time to be together, and it is that lack of time that could pull them apart.

Warning. This book is about gay wolf shifters. It contains m/m anal and oral sex, rimming and a spanking scene. There is also some violence, fighting wolves and a couple of deaths of minor characters. Child Sexual Abuse is also referred to. Please do not buy this book if these aspects offend you in any way.

Review

FiveStars I have to say that this book in my opinion has a lot more drama and sadness in it versus the other precious two books. To say that there was parts that truly broke my heart would be an accurate statement. But regardless it was still an amazing read and at this point my favorite in the series.

Damien is the Alpha of the San Antonio pack that is friends with the Cloverleah pack. Damien thought at one point that even though Shawn was not his true mate that he loved him. Turns out that it was not reciprocated but they remained friends. When trouble heads towards the Cloverleah pack, Damien and some of his enforcers are there to back them up.

Once there Damien finds his missing link on the form of Scott. To say Scott is not thrilled about his true mate is an understatement. Damien is the opposite of what Scott pictured. Damien is a leader that keeps his emotions locked away. He does not believe that he is capable of loving anyone and does not believe that he can truly give Scott what he wants.

Regardless they try to make it work between them and then is when the true trouble comes calling. Damien may realize to late his feelings for Scott.

This book has many things about it that broke my heart but it was such a great read. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series to see what happens with Scott’s twin brother and what awaits him and his true mate because I am positive that Lisa Oliver has an incredible book for him.

5 Stars for The Runaway Cat (Cloverleah Pack #2) by Lisa Oliver #MM #Shifter @wisecrone333

Author Name: Lisa Oliver

Pleased that his Alpha was finally settled with his new mate, Griff longs to meet the man of his dreams. Little did he know he would find it that same evening, when he was too drunk to realize that his good looking hook-up was actually his mate. Problem is when he woke up sober his bed was empty.

Derrick “Diablo” Franklin was just looking for a hook up with a like minded shifter. The sexy cat shifter was deep undercover for the FBI and although his case was coming to an end, he had hopes for his career that didn’t involve finding a mate. However after meeting Griff Diablo realized his plans might have to change.

Review

FiveStarsLisa Oliver has once again blown me away. Book one in the Cloverleah Pack series was amazing but book two was off the charts. I love it when an author writes an amazing book and then is able to blow the top off of that book and create another book in the same series and make it just incredible. That is exactly what Lisa Oliver did with this book. Not only that but Lisa set it up for book three to be even more out of this world.

Griff in my opinion is just this big teddy bear once you get past the way he looks on the outside. His outside appearance makes him look like he would rip your head off with his big build, tattoos, and strong features but once you get to know him you know that he is lovable, would do whatever necessary to protect those he loves and his pack, and is a very loyal person….,a big teddy bear.

Diablo is a beautiful person appearance wise and many people to not see past that, which is a mistake. Diablo may be beautiful but he is also strong, capable of taking care of himself and those he cares about, and very loyal and intelligent. So in other words a lethal combination that most do not realize.

When Griff and Diablo meet they do not immediately realize they are mates but they know they are strongly attracted to one another. Once they realize they are fated mates they will do whatever possible to be together and to protect each other from all the harm that is quickly coming their way.

It is not easy for them because they have criminals out to get Diablo for being FBI and they have other members from other packs wanting to challenge them for Diablo. But these two men stand strong in their belief that they can conquer as long as they do it together.

This book is was left with a cliff hanger for book three and I cannot wait to read it because it is shaping up to be even better then the previous two books and if this book is any indication of what we readers have to look forward too, we will not be disappointed.

Synopsis

Kane Matthews, Alpha of his small wolf pack in Cloverleah has been raised to believe that mates are not possible for gay men and has lived his life accordingly. Kicked out of his home pack years before because of his sexual orientation Kane has built a solid and comfortable life for himself in the small town of Cloverleah.
Imagine his surprise when an unscheduled visit to the small town’s diner unleashes a flood of emotions in the man he didn’t think possible – not least of all, lust. But finding out it is possible for wolf shifters to have gay mates is just one of the things that Kane has to overcome if he is to have the forever future he has been hoping for.

Shawn Bailey never expected to find his mate. He is just too different – an “Other” who has the power to instill fear in any other shifter. After spending ten years on the run from his Alpha father he spends most days just trying to stay alive. When a
chance encounter brings him face to face with his mate Shawn has to decide if the man in front of him is worth staying for.

Review

FiveStars I am such a huge fan of shifter books. What made this book even better is that not only is one of the wolfs a shifter but he also has “other” in him.

Kane is an Alpha but what makes Kane so likable in my opinion is even though he is alpha he does not have a problem with letting his guard down and showing his insecurities. He is very protective of his pack but at the same time he is compassionate towards others and has no problem excepting them in his pack so long as everyone is ok with it.

Shawn is the one that stole my heart in this book though. In his own right he could have hated other wolves for the way he was treated the past ten years but he does not. Instead he has so much goodness in him and he will do whatever it takes to protect the ones that he loves. Which as it turns out is Kane and their pack.

This book was full of suspense. I enjoyed how there was something different at each twist and turn. It was always an adventure and trouble just seemed to find these two men like the plague. But the one thing that never changed was they always stood by each other and their pack no matter what the situation was.

This was such an amazing read and I cannot wait to read book two.

5 Star and 4.5 Star Reviews for First Position by Melissa Brayden #FF #Romance @MelissaBrayden

CoverTitle: First Position
Author Name & Publisher: Melissa Brayden (Bold Strokes Books)
Publication Date & Length: August 16, 2016 – 264 pgs

Synopsis

Anastasia Mikhelson is the rising star of the New York City Ballet. She’s sacrificed creature comforts, a social life, as well as her own physical well-being for perfection in dance. Even her reputation as The Ice Queen doesn’t faze her. Though Ana’s at the peak of her career, competition from a new and noteworthy dancer puts all she’s worked for in jeopardy.

While Natalie Frederico has shown herself to be a prodigy when it comes to ballet, she much prefers modern dance and living on her own terms. Life is too short for anything else. However, when the opportunity to dance with the New York City Ballet is thrust upon her, it’s not like she could say no. Dealing with the company’s uptight lead is another story, however. When the two are forced to work side-by-side, sparks begin to fly onstage and off.

Review
FiveStarsfinds it hard to relax and make friends. When free spirit Natalie joins the company she finds herself drawn to her and slowly begins to open up and embrace friendship. Although they are complete opposites and annoy the hell out of each other, their attraction is so strong. I loved the growing relationship between them as it brought out a different side of Ana especially. Her career was everything to her but she was so buttoned up until Natalie came along. Unforeseen circumstances force Ana to read-evaluate and her struggles were difficult for both of them. Ultimately it was a beautiful love story, with moments of real tenderness and a lot of heat. I found the ballet life really interesting and the NY setting was an exciting background to it all.

FourandHalfStars

There’s definitely something about Melissa Brayden’s books that I enjoy. This one started a bit slow, and I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to get into it. That worry disappeared around the third chapter. I was a bit worried that this book would be a big struggle between the two main characters for one position, but the turn that took was actually rather enjoyable. It created an atmosphere that engendered cooperation and support between Ana and Natalie, allowing them to grow closer. I also love those stories about a character who is emotionally isolated, who is then drawn out of her shell by our other heroine. It’s like something in Natalie allows Ana to loosen up and reach outside her comfort zone. At the same time, something about Ana pushes Natalie into growing up and realizing that she has responsibilities. Watching her move from shallow party girl who doesn’t want to sell out to someone who stays because she’s made a commitment is a wonderful story arc. The other part of the story is what happens after someone who has made their life out of their passion no longer has the ability to engage in that passion. The career-ending injury that occurs may not have been what was expected, but it’s no less devastating. The events after leave both women devastated and unsure how to move forward. It was wonderful to see how they got back to each other. I also really enjoyed seeing some of the characters from previous books; it was nice to see old friends. If you’ve liked previous Melissa Brayden books, this will be another hit for you.

After eighteen years, the stars may have finally aligned to give Cecily and Rorie a second chance at happiness together. The trouble with stars, though: they don’t stay aligned for long.

The last thing she expects is to land the acting role of a lifetime, far away from the loving support of her girlfriend and teenage son.

As disappointed as Rorie is at the prospect of a long distance relationship, she can’t dwell on it for long. It’s hard enough stepping in as a surrogate parent when Cecily’s son arrives for college while she’s away. But when a woman claiming to be her long lost mother appears, and may not be all she seems, Rorie knows she needs Cecily to come home soon.

Despite time, distance, and some very persistent paparazzi, Cecily and Rorie have found in each other a love to last a lifetime, but only if they can survive the dual pressures of fame and family.

Review
FiveStarsThis second instalment of Rorie and Cecily’s trilogy was not a disappointment . Having read the first book and loved it I had high hopes for this one.  Cecily moves
to Southern California to start a new life and be with Rorie. Her wish to learn to be independent causes a few problems for her though and she finds out its not easy living only on a pay check. Seeing how her career developed was fascinating and although it led to some separation from Rorie it was something she needed to do. The other characters around them were really well written and allowed facets of their personalities and relationship to come to the fore. I especially liked Rorie’s group of lesbian friends and their little side bets.
The love story was of course integral to the book and it was both beautiful and very sexy. I’m glad Miranda Macleod let us see that love doesn’t always run smoothly but needs work and time. Rorie’s past regarding her parents was a brilliant addition and it was at times heart- wrenching.  I was surprised at how affected I was by this part of the story.
Another winner and I can’t wait for the final instalment!

Review
FiveStarsI absolutely love The Wallops. Gill McKnight has managed to dream up a village full of characters I can believe in and want more of. Jill is strong, caring and goes way beyond the call of duty. When her ex Renata turns up she is thrown off kilter and old feelings threaten to change the idyllic life she has made for herself. Their very complicated relationship is only part of what kept me reading till the early hours. I loved Bishop Andrew – he was such a mischievous fun character. He was such a counterpoint to the intensely annoying Colin Harper. The  mystery of St Poe’s and Renata’s research raised the story to a much higher level.  I am so glad that there are going to be more of these novels as the main characters Jane and Renata give me a warm fuzzy feeling.
A totally involving read, well written and with scope for a series of wonderful tales.
Kitty Kat

FiveStars
I found this book highly entertaining. There were many scenes that made me laugh and one scene that made me laugh for quite some time. In fact, I related that scene to my partner and she laughed just as hard. It was quite surprising to tell the truth. I wasn’t quite sure I would like the book in the beginning, when the two women had their initial reunion. The vitriol seems insurmountable. The entire reason for the end of their previous relationship centers around Jane and her experiences with her family. The question is whether or not Renata can understand and forgive Jane for running away. Jane considers it her own cowardice, but I see it more as a matter of her own survival. There were several things that were revealed that came as a tremendous surprise. I admire McKnight’s skill in making those revelations not only surprising but fitting. The entire plot hinged together tightly and resulted in a story that kept me turning pages and totally satisfied at the end. Oh, my mistake. Not totally satisfied. There was a preview for book 2, Wendy of the Wallops, at the end of the book. I’m totally not satisfied because that book isn’t out yet. I can’t wait and it is definitely on my list to get as soon as it comes out.
