5 Stars for Bad Idea by Lily Harlem #MM #Romance @lily_harlem

CoverTitle: Bad Idea
Author Name & Publisher: Lily Harlem (Pride Publishing)
Publication Date & Length: August 16, 2016 – 43 pgs

Synopsis

Bad ideas can sometimes be the best!

Roughneck Riders are not an MC club you mess with, least of all their rough and tough gang leader Heavy. But Heavy has a secret that has to be kept, no matter what—his heart belongs to a man. It shouldn’t. He’s supposed to be into women, like the other guys in the club. Junk is just too cute to resist, though. Add in his delectable body, his sweet submission and his willingness to accept Heavy’s sadism, and the couple are a perfect match.

Junk’s a probie, proving his worth to the club and demonstrating his mechanical know-how. He’s lived on the edge for a long time, flitting from one place to the next. But now that he’s settling in as a Roughneck, life is looking up. Not least because he’s in love—soul-eating, cock-thickening obsessive love. He can’t tell anyone about his desire for Heavy, but what he can do is push his lover’s buttons, all day, in full view of everyone, until he’s damned sure the night will bring a whole host of sinful delights and wicked punishments that will leave him marked, bruised and most of all, wholly satisfied.

Publisher’s Note: This book has previously been released as part of the His Rules anthology with Pride Publishing.

FiveStars

This is a perfect example why I love Lily Harlem. She can write a story with characters that are compelling enough that you want to know more about them even though it’s a short story. At the end, all I could say was… I want more! We got to learn a bit about the life the two men live as part of a motorcycle gang and about their secret meetings and how blisteringly hot they are.
Lily Harlem writes so well that the story was capturing and the sex was HOT and even though all in all it was a short story, I wanted to find out what happens and more about each of the characters, which is a hard thing to do when the story didn’t have long to establish much at all.

FiveStarsI did not start with books one and two but I believe I will go back and read them now.

This was a great book by Skylar M Cates. It is a book that I would describe as best friends to lovers but with a past that makes it hard for the future.

Marc and Tomas are and have been best friends forever but both are in love with the other. Making the transition from best friends to lovers is not easy for these two men because one has to accept his feelings for the other and the other has to let go of an abusive past in order to move forward. Will the two of them be able to get over their hang ups or will they be doomed to not resolve their feelings and have a relationship they both truly deserve.

I loved this book and all the anguish these two characters had to endure in order to be able to find their happy. It was not an easy journey for either of them. Skylar had a way of making sure the readers was able to feel their emotional turmoil they had to face. I will definitely be going back and reading books 1 & 2 and any other books in the future in this series. Fantastic read!!!!

FiveStars This is my favorite book in this series so far.

BA Tortuga has a way of making the reader jump into the pages and like part of he book. In being able to do so I was able to feel all of the pain and heartache that the characters in this book was able to feel. I was able to feel the fear and the guilt. I was able to feel the love and the acceptance. I was also able to the way each of the characters in this series was family even though it was not by blood.

I also love how BA Tortuga has taken such a dangerous sport and has made the book that she is writing about realistic. The rodeo and the guys who participate in the sport take a chance each time they step in the arena because it is unpredictable what an animal will do and BA Tortuga does not skip over that fact in this series.

She gets to the heart of the danger and incorporates it into the book. In turn it leaves the reader feeling the affects of what happens in eachbook and this book was no different. My heart truly broke for Sam and Beau.

This book was another amazing addition to the series and in my opinion the best book so far.

5 Stars for Dancing Around The Cop (Alpha and Omega #2) by Lisa Oliver #MM #Romance #Paranormal

Cover

Title: Dancing Around The Cop (Alpha and Omega #2)
Author Name: Lisa Oliver
Publication Date & Length: August 12, 2015 – 374 pgs

Synopsis

Terry Martin has an awesome life – good friends, loving parents and a job he loves designing all of the bright and wonderful costumes for the drag queens at Club Blue. Sure, no one but his parents know he’s an Omega wolf, but he’s okay with that. Unfortunately being a twink often means getting picked on and after a night out with friends, Terry has the misfortune to meet an Alpha wolf, Detective Zander Samuels – his true mate.

Zander can’t have a mate, especially a pretty, sweet little man like Terry. His friend of more than ten years, and partner on the force hates gay men with a passion and Zander won’t risk the only true friend he has, not even for a mate. So even though he’s scented Terry, Zander is determined to stay away from the Omega. Unfortunately the Fates are just as determined that the two men should be together and when Zander finds himself hit with the mating curse in more ways than one, he comes up with a plan to have Terry without upsetting his friend.

A nasty boss, a homophobic partner, some really jerky behaviour by Zander and another Alpha wolf keen on claiming Terry for his own, all conspire to stop any chance these two have of finding true love. But did I mention that the Fates are really persistent?

Warning: This book is about male wolf shifters, it includes coarse language, mm sex scenes, a gorgeously cute Omega who will melt your heart and an Alpha wolf you will just want to slap around the head.

Lisa Oliver continues to blow me away with her books. This book was not a surprise considering I have come to expect this out of Lisa Oliver.

The fact that this book is about a closeted detective named Zander made this book even better. But what made it the most interesting was his mate is a fashion designer for drag queens and an omega, a guy, and a twink to boot.

Zander tried to deny Terry because he is scared of losing his homophobic best friend Sully, his job, and his lady’s man play boy status. But there is a thing that is called FATE that put a damper on Zander’s plans of denying that he wants Terry.

Another interesting and enjoyable read in this series. I love how Lisa Oliver is constantly able to suck me into her stories and leaves me waiting impatiently ready for more. Another wonderful story!!!

 FiveStars

Litha’s Constant Whim – This was a sweet story about true love and how it can stand the test of time and what it is like to sacrifice love for life. There is a lot that goes on in this story for it being a short story, but I absolutely adored the two men and the way they came together to be there for each other as friends then lovers then friends once more.
I Love You Asshole! – I have to say that while I don’t particularly care for the name of this story, I did like the story. I liked that we got to see that sometimes when you think your feelings are so clear, they might not be. The only way to know for sure someone knows how you feel is to tell them with words.
Guarding the Vampire’s Ghost – I have to say that I think this was my favorite story of the set… well, maybe second to Litha’s Constant Whim, but it was close. I loved that we got to see Adrian and Green together again. I loved that we got to see what it like for Adrian while his lovers continue living, but I also like seeing the two angels come to realize that they meant more to each other than friends and that sometimes it is worth falling to experience love and pleasure.

FiveStars

Book six has to be the best thus far.

Rainey is the new detective in town so he is not the most established with such a tight knit group of people and to be thrown into an investigation around the murder of gays and addicts does not make his newness any better. He has not earned the trust of his team yet but as time goes on they realize that he is good at his job and takes it seriously. Almost so much so that he gets close to ruining the other important part of his life with Josh his long term partner.

Rainey and Josh have a strong relationship when Rainey moves to the KCPD and even though they have a few issues they become a stronger couple as the book goes on. The love they share is the true kind of love and it is hot inside of and outside of the bedroom.

Another great read.

Review

 FiveStars

I have to say I didn’t even realize this story was in a series until I sat down to write my review. It was a very good stand alone story that didn’t feel like anything was left out without having read the other books in the series.
This is a world that is after Earth as we know it has been destroyed. I absolutely loved the world that the author created. It was believable and intriguing.
The relationship between the two main characters was touching. They had a romance that was exploitative in their youth, but stopped however, their friendship was able to continue to thrive until Connor can’t hold it in anymore. While I normally don’t care for the tease of two characters never actually getting down to the dirty.. this actually worked and I liked that they were so tentative with each other and taking each step deeper into their relationship.
The drama that we get from the story come from the facility itself and the leadership within. While I wouldn’t have minded more information about how things came to be the way they were, it wasn’t hard to go with the story as it was written. I thought it was extremely creative the way the ‘bad guys’ were handled.
In the end I want to go back and start with the first book since this story was so well written.
