Title: The Boys On The Mountain
Author Name & Publisher: John Inman (DSP Publications)
Publication Date & Length: May 12th 2015 – 330 pages

Jim Brandon has a new house, and boy, is it a pip. Built high on the side of the San Diego mountains by a legendary B-movie actor of the 1930s, Nigel Letters, the house is not only gorgeous, but supposedly haunted. As a writer of horror novels, Jim couldn’t be happier.

But after a string of ghostly events sets Jim’s teeth on edge and scares the bejesus out of his dog, Jim begins to dig into the house’s history. What he finds is enough to creep out anybody. Even Jim. It seems long dead Nigel Letters had a few nasty habits back in his day. And unhappily for Jim, the old bastard still has some tricks up his sleeve.

As Jim welcomes his ex, Michael, and a bevy of old friends for a two-week visit to help christen the new house, he soon realizes his old friends aren’t the only visitors who have come to call.

Okay I am going to start of this review with a warning some of this book might be hard for some to read. There were tears in my eyes when I read what happened to the “visitors” by the previous owner. Now I am really trying to write this review without giving away any spoilers because I do not want to ruin this book for anyone else.

I just have no words for how much I loved this book! I am a huge horror movie/ book fan so I want to say do not make the mistake of reading this book alone in the dark like I did.. Let’s just say I needed to go outside after finishing this book at night and ended up freaking myself out lol. This book definitely had me jumping at every creak in my house in the middle of the night. In other words this book scared the hell out of me and that made me love it so much more!

I loved the way the author wrote this story and these characters! There was Jim who bought the house and is a writer. Then there was his friends which had me laughing with some of the things they would say to each other. But there also was the hard and painful moments when you find out what really happened and yes I will say I did have tears in my eye reading what happened to the “visitors”. There were also some gory parts to when things are explained which I will not go into because that would be a huge spoiler.

Then there was the ending!!! After I finished this book I was sitting there stunned thinking to myself what just happened and no you can’t leave it like that! OMG!!!! What was that! Why! Seriously my head is spinning and just wow!

So I will leave this review with… I really loved this book and I would 100% recommend this to those who love a good horror story mixed in with some funny too!
