Teen shelter volunteer Rich searches for love until Diego, from LVMPD Search and Rescue, finds him.>
After declaring his love life officially dead, Rich wonders if maybe he should stick with his shifter book boyfriends instead. It’s not as if he has much free time to date anyway. Between working long hours at a coffee shop, guarding his sodas from his hygienically challenged roommates, and running the programming at the Vegas LGBTQ teen shelter he founded—how could there ever be space for love in his life?
Diego Espinoza enjoys taking his downtime from working Search and Rescue, at the Lucky Cup coffee shop. He can set up his laptop, peruse good sport climbing spots and observe the blond barista he’s been pining over for a while. He imagines that the pretty boy has more offers than he knows what to do with, so it takes Diego time to work up the nerve to approach him.
Rich isn’t so sure about the rough looking Diego—even if he’s always thought he was hot—but once he decides to gives Diego a chance, there’s an immediate heat and connection that takes him by surprise. As they learn more about each other and try to find the way to a future together, strange and scary things start to happen.
It isn’t until Rich is injured in a bizarre accident that it becomes clear that there’s someone out there who not only doesn’t want Rich to find love—they want him dead.
Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of light bondage.
Rich works at a coffee shop to make ends meat while at the same time he volunteers at a LGBTQ teen shelter and has the worse luck dating which he has just decided to give up and stick with his book boyfriends when Diego asks him out on a date.
Diego comes to the coffee shop when Rich is working in the mornings and is very attracted to him. He works in Search and Rescue. He finally asks Rich out… Lets just say it was on and cracking after that!
I loved these two men together! Diego is so caring when it comes to Rich and protective of him. Rich feels the same way about Diego and then there was the steam between Diego and Rich which was so Damn hot!!!!!
I loved the way Morticia Knight wrote these characters and this story!
You get your action with this book too when someone goes after Rich. Once I started this book I could not put it down until the end and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time hoping for the best for these two men.
So all together I really loved this book!
I would 100% recommend this book!
This was such a sweet book. I just loved Rich and Diego. I am a sucker for insta-love and low angst books. I read for an escape not to get stressed out. These two had great chemistry and you couldn’t help but love them. Rich was such a sweet sole and would give you the shirt off his back; he made you wish that he was your friend in real life because you loved him so much. I did enjoy seeing some characters from previous books, great addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next installment.
This is another excellent book by Mortica Knight in the Sin City Uniforms series. Sometimes you just need to read a story with insta-love and oh so much HOT sex. That’s exactly what this book was. I love the connection I had with Rich. However, I immediately fell in love with Diego. God that man is just HOT and Sexy, even though he comes across almost too noble. But again I really read this for the HOT sex anyways and they did get a HEA.
Rich noted the way Diego’s mouth twitched. “I’m thirty-seven. You?” Diego had given him a quick sideways glance.
God, I wish I was even a little bit older. He might think I’m too young for him. He has to have an idea, though, right?
He must’ve paused too long.
“You are legal aren’t you?”
Rich gasped before he saw the quirk at the edge of Diego’s lips. “Oh my God. I don’t look that young!”
“I was sorta considering whether I should check your ID.”
“Ha ha. Very funny.” Rich couldn’t hold back his laughter and Diego joined in. “Stop! You’re making fun of me.”
Diego kissed his knuckles again. “Not even a little bit. But you still haven’t answered my question.”
“Now the pressure’s on.” He cleared his throat. “Okay, fine. I’m twenty-six.”
Rich tried not to cringe as he waited for Diego’s reaction.
“That’s about what I figured.”
He let out a big sigh before he could stop himself. “Really?”
“Yeah. Really. I’d guessed mid to late twenties. If I’d gone on looks alone, I might’ve guessed younger. But your manner and the way you run the coffee shop made me think you were older.”
“Oh. Thanks.” He wasn’t sure if that was the proper response, but he didn’t know what else to say. “So that means you’re okay with it then?”
“With your age?” Diego frowned as if genuinely confused.
“You know, since you already figured what it might be anyway before you asked me out. I don’t want you to think I’m a flighty kid or something, because what I’m really looking for -”
Oops. Almost fell face first into that one.
“You’re looking for?”
The Jeep wasn’t moving all that fast in the slow traffic. He could probably jump out of it unscathed.
Rich let his head fall against the seat rest. “Great. Never could shut up.”
Diego kept his eyes directed forward, his jaw working as if he were chewing his thoughts over in his mind. A couple minutes passed between them in silence before Diego spoke. “I’ve wanted to ask you out for a while. Not just because I find you attractive, but because there’s something about you I really like.” He glanced over at him briefly. “I don’t think you’re a flighty kid at all, and I hope you don’t think I’m just looking for a good time.”
Rich pressed his lips together, nodding. “Okay. Thanks for saying that.” Rich wove his fingers in and out of Diego’s. He loved the scrape of Diego’s calloused skin as it dragged over his smoother skin. “And I’m not just looking for a good time either.”
“Then we’re in agreement.”
Diego’s voice had been soft, his gaze never wavering from the road before them. But Rich believed him. It made his decision to go home with Diego that much sweeter.
