Synopsis

There is underlying beauty in destruction….

Miah Thade, Finn Reese, and Ritchie Meyer are Resonator, an indie rock band with an edge—best friends turned rock stars, known as the Detroit 3. When Evin Rene appears in their life none of them can deny he belongs with Rez.

They may have named their first album Ruin Porn because people get off on seeing how Detroit went from deeply loved to thoroughly forsaken, but they’re determined to prove that blight isn’t the entire story and blight isn’t always ugly.

Ritchie, Miah, Finn, and Evin take Resonator to a level no one anticipates. But no prosperity comes without sacrifice, and no secret stays hidden without a trail of lies. As Rez’s fame grows, so does the intensity between two of its members…as well as their potential for destruction.

Evin and Finn are about to discover the underlying beauty in their ruin porn.

I loved this so much I want to add more stars!  This is one of the best rock-band stories I’ve ever read.  It is a love story, but also the story of the four young band members trying to turn their musical talent into commercial success while becoming increasingly aware of the costs of fame.

Resonator an emerging rock band on their first international tour.  The three original members have been friends since they were children.  They are incredibly talented but their relationships aren’t very healthy.  Evin is the new addition, a bass player and writer joining them for the first time on their European tour.

When Evin first meets Finn, the guitarist, the chemistry between the two men is instant.  They make beautiful music together and I love the way the authors manage to make the mens’ music reflect the relationship.  But relationships are complicated and while Finn and Evin become inseparable, the relationship struggles under the weight of secrecy, beards, stolen moments and threesomes.   Trying to balance the needs of the band, the demands of their music and their increasing attachment to each other seems impossible.

The quality of writing is amazing – as you would expect from these writers – and this is so much more than a romance.  This is the story of four men living together in an intense hot-house situation on the road.  The authors get inside each of the band members’ heads, their music, their souls… (maybe I’m being a little over-dramatic).  They try to make sense of a world where talent and skill don’t necessarily make for success. The desire to be successful and the hunger for fame is muted when the band realises how terrifying and intrusive fans and media can be.

I love the focus on the whole band, not just the romantic leads.  The characters are distinct and compelling, sometimes unlikeable but nearly always loveable.  On the cusp of stardom, the talented young men are young and vulnerable one minute, cocky and arrogant the next.  I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

FiveStarsLet me first say, I LOVED THIS BOOK!! This team of authors just kept me going right from the beginning. I fell in love all the characters in this book.  Of course it helps that Resonator (the band) is from Detroit (where I grew up). The first thing that drew me to the book was the cover. Every time I looked at the cover, it reminded me of home.

I definitely would love to see more collaboration from these two authors. I loved how the story was built and the conclusion was great also. I fell in love with Miah and love the romance between Evin and Finn. Definitely want another book!!

It’s been an amazing journey since DSP first contracted Lorcan’s Desire in January 2011. I’ve published 2 free reads with the M/M Romance group, my back list is growing, met some great people and have made some amazing friends.
I’m still in shock that I’m listed among the many talented authors at Dreamspinner Press! The little voice in the back of my head is screaming, “You are so out of your league.”
Shhhhh I won’t tell them if you don’t 🙂

You can call me Jo, everyone does 🙂
