Don’t miss this exclusive bundle of contemporary romance novels by best-selling author Ariel Tachna. Enjoy The Path, featuring two men falling in love while hiking the Inca Trail; Seducing C.C., a sexy romp between counselors while at summer camp that turns into something more; Her Two Dads, in which an unexpected baby brings two roommates together in life and love; Fallout, where blistering attraction flares between an engineer and a professor during a potential catastrophe; and Inherit the Sky, book one of the fan favorite Lang Downs series, a romance set on a sheep station in the Australian outback. Five stories in one volume!
What a great collection! I’m a huge fan of Ariel Tachna’s Lang Downs series and this was a fantastic introduction to her other work. There are a few common threads loosely linking these stories. Tachna’s characters are always carefully observed ordinary men. Their relationships are quietly forever. Her sense of place is exquisite and the quality of her writing is consistently excellent. Unlike many anthologies, this is a collection of five full length novels.
My favourite story is The Path, about two guides on the Inca Trail. Peru comes to life beautifully and I completely fell for Alberto and Benicio.
Seducing C.C. was slightly racier and more new adult than Tachna’s other stories. Her summer camp setting was exactly right – I could almost smell the woodsmoke and evergreens. I wasn’t quite convinced by Astro and CC’s relationship, but I really wanted to go back to camp!
Her Two Dads was really sweet. I loved Sri’s character – but his hang-ups feel pretty dated. Jamie is a little too good to be true and I and I’m still not convinced that Sri and Jamie’s relationship is as much about passion as convenience.
Fallout is a strange (in a good way) story about a romance between a nuclear physicist and a NASA robotics engineer during a meltdown at a power plant. This has a little more action than the others in the book, but the characters and setting are as vivid as ever.
And finally, Inherit the Sky. I’ve read it before – it is the start to a favourite series and the reason I sought out the collection in the first place. I don’t think it is the best in the Lang Downs series, but it is the start. And I still love it.
So – a fantastic collection. Tachna’s writing is elegant, her subjects diverse and she writes wonderful, honest characters for her readers to fall in love with.
Ariel Tachna lives outside of Houston with her husband, her daughter and son, and their cat. Before moving there, she traveled all over the world, having fallen in love with both France, where she found her husband, and India, where she dreams of retiring some day. She’s bilingual with snippets of four other languages to her credit, and is as in love with languages as she is with writing.
