Title: A Bitter Taste of Sweet Oblivion Box Set
Author Name: Jordan Castillo Price
Publication Date & Length: April 21, 2015 – 272 pgs
Staking a vampire isn’t so easy now that Michael’s got a vampire of his very own. Although killing them is no longer an option, he’s as determined as ever to stop the spread of vampirism.
Wild Bill is a lover, not a fighter–so he’s tickled when Michael’s new agenda, to dispense condoms and sterile phlebotomy gear among vampires, replaces the old “heads will roll” approach.
It takes courage to track down vamps in their own territory and deliver a lecture on safe sex, and more importantly, safe bloodletting. Michael’s never been short on audacity…but he’s finding that he and Wild Bill aren’t the only ones with agendas.
Ebook box set contains the following novelettes: Brazen, Snare, Fluid, Swarm, Elixir
Wild Bill and Michael are back in a second omnibus. Miserable, sarcastic and tender, it is wonderful to hear their voices again.
The boys still have their van, they still kick ass when they need to, but they’ve grown up a bit, even if their bodies aren’t growing older.
Emotionally, these stories are darker than the first. Both partners are finding Michael’s fading humanity difficult to deal with and new acquaintences only serve to heighten their isolation. I found the later stories much more frightening than those in the first omnibus.
Price’s caustic wit elevates this series above others in the genre. Once again her observations are perfect, her language is elegant, her men are beautiful and the suspense is terrifying.
