Psychologist Victor Mascari and his partner, spa-owner Derek Jameson, have been together eight years, but their relationship is still evolving. Derek distrusts monogamy because of his parents’ messy divorce, but as marriage equality advances, Victor’s doubts about their open relationship are growing. He doesn’t necessarily want a legal union, but he’s increasingly concerned about how others view them.
When Victor comes home to find Derek with another new conquest, he’s annoyed… at first. As he gets to know Antonio, Victor discovers the young man is intelligent, self-assured, and charming. This time, it’s Victor who is intrigued by someone else and Derek who thinks Victor’s interest is crossing the lines they’ve agreed on. If Victor wants to keep Derek, he’ll have to let Antonio go.
But Antonio is in real trouble and has nowhere to turn. Victor and Derek take him in, and it soon becomes clear how well he fits into their lives and how strong the bonds between all of them are growing. A committed relationship between three men—all very different in age and background—is enough of a challenge, and then the horrifying secrets of Antonio’s abusive past emerge.
This is a book I would describe as finding your missing link. Two is perfect and sometimes three makes that perfect extraordinary. That is the case in this story.
Victor and Derek have been in an open relationship with set boundaries for several years. It has not always been perfect because occasionally one might feel left out but it has worked for them. That is until it no longer did. There is a reason behind it not working too. Derek once again brought home someone to play with for the night. But this time something different occurs, Victor is intrigued with Antonio (aka Remi). That has never happened before. Not only is he intrigued with him but he also feels something is not right.
Victor becomes obsessed with trying to figure out what is wrong with Remi and it causes major problems with Derek. After some convincing Derek helps Victor track down Remi and realizes that Victor was correct all along and Remi is in some serious trouble. That leads to Remi staying with both Derek and Victor. Which in turns leads to the three of them realizing that Remi is what is the missing piece of their puzzle that makes them all complete.
But the good thing they have going on comes to a halt when Remi’s past catches up to him. That is when the trouble begins and if they are not careful they may lose Remi forever.
This book was beautifully written. Logan Meredith took the situation that these three men found themselves in and turned it into a truly captivating story. I really enjoyed reading about how the three of them came together and the struggles they faced once they did. Cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
