Synopsis

Even the best-planned experiment can have unpredictable consequences.

Max Allenby loves his job as a chemist with Armacom, developing new protective materials. He harbours a secret crush for the CEO, the stern and distant Blake Winters, which makes dealing with his harridan of a boss, Dr. Ella Preston, bearable.

Blake Winters is a lifestyle Dom. He spotted Max when he first joined Armacom, but has kept his distance from the talented, young scientist. When his Head of Security, who also happens to be Max’s older brother, tells him about Max’s feelings, Blake decides its time to make the pretty young man his.

Blake proposes a dating experiment to Max. For three hours a night over five nights, Max will give Blake his complete submission. Max is conflicted but decides to take the plunge and get a taste of a lifestyle he secretly craves.

Each date night introduces Max to a new level of submission. He loves every minute but is also conflicted—unable to believe a man like Blake wants him as anything more than a temporary plaything.

Blake understands that experiments do not always turn out as expected. He takes steps to convince Max of his feelings and to reassure him that his submissive streak is a strength, not a weakness.

FiveStars

Chemical bonds is such a perfect name for this book because Max is a scientist research assistant Armacom, where he met the Ceo of the company and has harbored a huge crush on him for two years. Little does he know but Blake has been half in love with Max for the whole time that he has worked at Armacom but he is unsure of if Max is ready for him because he is a Dom and though he believes that Max is a natural born submissive he knows that Max is very innocent and has not a lot of experience, much less with a Dom/sub relationship. But Blake is about to change all of that and find out once and for all of him and Max are compatible.

This book is a perfect example of what a true Dom/ sub relationship is all about. Blake takes Max through what is like to be in this type of relationship by gaining his trust. Teaching him about sane, consensual, and safe truly means. Along with a safe word. He teaches him what it means to be rewarded and what it means to be corrected the proper way. But not only that he teaches Max what it means to be truly loved and Max teaches Blake the same.

Max is not all that willing at first to give his submission to Blake but it is not because he does not want to it is because he is scared. I love that Blake made Max feel safe enough to let go and that Max allowed Blake the opportunity to earn his trust.

L.M. Sommerton did an amazing job on this book but honestly I expected know less because L.M. Is an amazing author.

FourStars Blake and Max, even Justin were wonderful characters in this story.

Max had a naivete that sometimes got on my nerves, but overall, he was the traditional submissive.  He was shy, but wanted to be dominated, he just didn’t know how to ask for what he needed and wanted.

Then, you have Justin.  I love the dynamic that he has with Max.  They are playful, but you can see the love their share for each other.  I wished that Justin had a little more to do with the story, but understand that he’s just a secondary character.

Finally, you have Blake.  He is a Dom through and through – he longs to teach Max the way to submit, but knows he must tread lightly.  He is patient and kind, but wicked and tricky too.  Not only does he show Max how life as a submissive can be, he longs for more than just the dates they have agreed on.

Blake and Max didn’t have the best chemistry for me – they were almost too sterile when it came to their relationship.  Maybe that was because of the arrangement, but I just had a difficult time with their relationship.  Despite that issue, you could see where Somerton wanted their relationship to go.

Overall, this was a sweet story that was very quick to read.

Lucinda lives in a small village in the English countryside, surrounded by rolling hills, cows and sheep. She started writing to fill time between jobs and is now firmly and unashamedly addicted.

She loves the English weather, especially the rain, and adores a thunderstorm. She loves good food, warm company and a crackling fire. She’s fascinated by the psychology of relationships, especially between men, and her stories contain some subtle (and some not so subtle) leanings towards BDSM.
