Though mortals have been convinced that God cares about their souls, nothing could be further from the truth. He created the world as a gift for his lover, Satan. But when Satan left him, he decided to end what he saw as his most grotesque creation.

Satan and his army of demons are man’s only hope…

The demon Kinzer and his lover, Janka, have been sent by Satan to spy on The Raze, a gang of rogue demons who are working with God to bring about Armageddon. When someone exposes their true allegiances, the Raze clips Kinzer’s wings and murders Janka. Kinzer manages to escape. He tracks down Satan’s allies to warn them about a mole in their midst when he learns that they’ve located the Antichrist—a powerful weapon that could prevent the apocalypse. Now, he’s on a mission to protect the Antichrist and avenge his lover’s death.

I have mixed feelings about this story.  I really enjoyed the initial characters, Kid and Kinzer.  I found them to be a good pairing.

Kinzer is trying to get back and warn his fellow fallen, but wants to save Kid too, because he feels for humanity.  Kid is kind of just along for the ride, not really understanding what he’s getting himself in to.

So, while I started out really enjoying the story, I did feel a little thrust in to the middle of something I didn’t quite understand fully either.  It did take me a minute to figure out that we “start” in the middle.

Then, you introduce a lot of secondary characters, who don’t necessarily stay secondary.

Between the rough, bloody sex due to the enormous penis sized Fallen, it was just a little much.  Then you have almost brutal sex that Kid, the tiny human enjoys?  Hmmm, that was a little hard to read too – so, while it wasn’t overly graphic, it was not for the faint at heart.

Overall, this was well written, but I found myself piecing things together and trying to figure out all of the different relationships and how everyone fit together.  It seemed that the characters were always striving towards this unknown quantity of happiness but never quite made it – which is both great for the next book and frustrating as all hell.  We shall see what the next story holds…

FiveStars

This is a book that I would classify under a dark erotic paranormal book. So those of you who do not like things like that, I would not recommend this book. But hose of you that like paranormal and a truly erotic read this is for you.

I was skeptical at first about this book but once I started reading it I could not put it down. I was hooked.

This is a book about angels and Demons. Heaven and Hell. Right and wrong. Good and bad. Evil and Good.

With every twist and turn you never know what is going to happen. You think that you have it figured out who is the good guys but then there is another twist and the ones you thought was good turned out not to be. Those that you thought would not end up together fall in love and those that you think should don’t.

This is a really adventurous book where the characters are never in one spot to long and new characters are introduced at each turn. Which also goes back to never knowing who is the good guys and who isn’t.

I cannot wait to read book two in the series and see where everything goes from the point that this book left off. Devon McCormack did a great job on this book. I would definitely recommend it to others to read.

AuthorBio

Devon McCormack spends most of his time hiding in his lair, adventuring in paranormal worlds with his island of misfit characters. A good ole Southern boy, McCormack grew up in the Georgian suburbs with his two younger brothers and an older sister. At a very young age, he spun tales the old fashioned way, lying to anyone and everyone he encountered. He claimed he was an orphan. He claimed to be a king from another planet. He claimed to have supernatural powers. He has since harnessed this penchant for tall tales by crafting whole worlds where he can live out whatever fantasy he chooses.

A gay man himself, McCormack focuses on gay male characters, adding to the immense body of literature that chooses to represent and advocate gay men’s presence in media. His body of work ranges from erotica to young adult, so readers should check the synopses of his books before purchasing so that they know what they’re getting into.
