Title: Rise & Fall (THIRDS #4)
Author Name & Publisher: Charlie Cochet (Dreamspinner Press)
Publication Date & Length: February 2, 2015 – 236pgs

After an attack by the Coalition leaves THIRDS Team Leader Sloane Brodie critically injured, agent Dexter J. Daley swears to make Beck Hogan pay for what he’s done. But Dex’s plans for retribution are short-lived. With Ash still on leave with his own injuries, Sloane in the hospital, and Destructive Delta in the Coalition’s crosshairs, Lieutenant Sparks isn’t taking any chances. Dex’s team is pulled from the case, with the investigation handed to Team Leader Sebastian Hobbs. Dex refuses to stand by while another team goes after Hogan, and decides to put his old HPF detective skills to work to find Hogan before Theta Destructive, no matter the cost.

With a lengthy and painful recovery ahead of him, the last thing Sloane needs is his partner out scouring the city, especially when the lies—however well intentioned—begin to spiral out of control. Sloane is all too familiar with the desire to retaliate, but some things are more important, like the man who’s pledged to stand beside him. As Dex starts down a dark path, it’s up to Sloane to show him what’s at stake, and finally put a name to what’s in his heart.

Oh… My heartbroke for Sloane at the same time as I totally understood why Dex was doing what he was doing and lying (even though Sloane totally knew what was going on). I loved it though. It really helped their relationship develop in a way that it probably wouldn’t have so rapidly if things hadn’t gone the way they had.
I loved it even more once the whole team got together and we got to see some super steamy scenes with other characters while they all brought down the big bad man.
I’ve become a HUGE fan of Charlie Cochet from this series. Every single book has been absolutely wonderful and left me wanting for more!
I can’t WAIT for Ash and Cael’s story now… really… I’m so excited for them to move on and us to get to see into both men more in depth!

This is a fantastic finish to a great series. Once the team comes together again and everyone stops lying, the second half of this book is probably my favourite action sequence in the whole series. I understood what was happening, everyone had a role and they all worked together. Even Sebastian (could we please have his story?) and his team.Sloane and Dex’s relationship becomes a little tedious at the start of this story. Lies and secrets divide them, but with a little honesty, Dex and Sloane are a proper team again and the couple I first loved again. I hate the way authors seem to need to give long-term couples in series huge personal dramas. Sloane and Dex are partners and teammates. Wouldn’t it be enough for them to just fight side by side? Do they really need all the additional drama? It’s exhausting, and in some ways it undermines the characters.

In this book we’re still teased by the other couples – maybe with the huge story arc over we’ll get more of them in the next book? I fell for Ethan here – I love hearing Hobbs talk and I love the fact that he talks to Dex.

This book wound the Order/Coalition storyline down, and I like the fact that all the complicated plots became a little simpler here. And then ended. Properly – I’ve wanted a resolution for the last three books! And it was a satisfying, worthy ending.

This one definitely isn’t a stand alone story. You need to read the first three and I’m still waiting for more.
