Title: Riley Parra Season Four (Riley Parra #4)
Author Name & Publisher: Geonn Cannon (Supposed Crimes LLC)
Publication Date & Length: November 30, 2012 – 391 pgs
The war is at a detente, but the battles rage on…
With the war on hold until Marchosias names a new champion, a group of acoyltes for the side of Good arrive in the city to bolster Riley’s advantage through the power of prayer. But a lack of hostilities doesn’t mean there’s peace. A new demonic player soon begins making his name among the Five Families, making a power play that would consolidate every demon in the city under his command. Riley chooses the devil she knows over an unknown threat, but bringing down the new arrival may cost her more than she ever thought possible.
Faced with powerful and unexpected enemies, her loved ones threatened by danger both supernatural and mundane, Riley makes a monumental decision concerning her status as champion and discovers that peace just may be more destructive than all-out war.
I started this book hoping that it would be as amazing as the first three and was immensely shocked to discover that it was actually even better. From the first chapter I was hooked and found that I couldn’t put it down, even reading while I cooked! The growth of the entire cast of varied and unique characters continued, taking twists that were totally unexpected but fit the story and the players perfectly.
Once again I found myself drawn deeply into the relationship between Riley and Gillian, rooting for them even when all hope seemed lost. The other developing relationships in the beautiful cast of characters were welcome and I even found myself rooting for some of them. The lines between good and evil, right and wrong, light and dark sometimes found themselves off kilter and skewed but Cannon, once again, executed the entire this exceptionally.
This fourth installment held even more turmoil and left me having to settle my own emotions before I could move to new chapters more than once. Actual tears were shed as Riley faced pain and trials that, once again led to drastic measures being taken to right wrongs. This book, yet again, gave the sense that true love, can in fact conquer all and that sometimes, the good guys really do win.
Two thumbs up, five stars and an enthusiastic round of applause to Cannon who continues to inspire awe and amazement with each new chapter I read!
Wow, my head is still spinning from reading this book, dead Angels, new Angels, new Demons, lots of dead Demons. Reading this book was like been on an out of control Waltzer!!! I was completely enthralled but not sure what was happening at times!
There was a couple of inconsistencies but due to the speed and the way the plot was moving at such break neck speed I just had to ignore this and keep on reading.
More of the characters darker sides were revealed giving yet another dimension to both Riley and Caitlin. I was also left wondering what happened to Riley’s opposite number. Also could a really evil Demon be so chivalrous?
By the end I did feel this series was a little busy. However I can’t wait to read the next Riley Parra.
