Adrenaline: Big time country singer Travis Reed is known for crazy stunts and good music, but with a maniac threatening his life, management won’t stand for his risk taking. They hire Wyatt Chastain as Travis’s personal security, to keep Travis safe from his stalker—and from himself. Attraction between them is white hot from the start, but when life gets crazy, they have to learn to trust each other as deeply as they desire each other.
Boys in the Band: Guitar player Spud is the band’s go-to guy, giving comfort and aid whenever he can. That changes when Caidon comes aboard. Caidon wants to tour and play, he wants Spud, and he’s not afraid to go against the band to get what he wants. Trouble is, the guys aren’t pleased with having to share Spud’s attention.
If Wishes Were Horses: Malcolm Parker had a thing for Dalton Amos years ago, before Dalton got famous and Malcolm got screwed out of the limelight. Now Dalton’s an aging superstar with a damaged voice, and Malcolm’s the successful songwriter. When Dalton shows up at Mal’s door, Malcolm considers tossing him out on his ass. But attraction still burns between them, and the old friends must decide if they can be lovers once more.
I loved this. As a fan of country music and an even bigger fan of hot cowboys, I was enthralled from the first page. With country music as a unifying factor, these are three quite disparate stories.
The first is more of a thriller with bodyguard Wyatt protecting superstar Travis from a crazed stalker. I had to suspend my disbelief a little to really enjoy this, but I loved Travis and Wyatt enough to just go with the story.
The second story was a little more complicated. Until Caidon joins Joe’s band, Jamie has been casually and conveniently shagging his band mates. When he and Caidon develop real feelings for each other, arrangements become complicated and feelings get hurt. This story was very angsty and very steamy. I loved the two leading men and quickly fell in love with the band.
The final story was my favourite. Many years ago, Malcolm and Dalton were budding musicians and lovers. Reunited, Dalton is a damaged star and Malcolm is a successful songwriter. Theirs is a tragic story of separated lovers and lost time. Sweet, sad and full of angst, I thought it was perfect.
BA Tortuga is one of my favourite authors and this is a collection of some of her best work. Her men are always unique and wonderfully complex. These are fun, easy reads. Each story is fully developed and almost novel length. This has to be my favourite anthology I’ve read in quite a while.
I loved this book and love cowboy characters. Yes this book had lots of sex but it was a very good way to pass the time while I was off work for the holidays. This was great way to get my country music fix and cowboy fix. There were 3 stories in this book and I love all of them but I do have to say that my favorite was Adrenaline. This story had had suspense and hot love in it but I expect nothing less from BA Tortuga. This was definitely some of her best stories.
Having written everything from fist-fighting rednecks to hard-core cowboys to werewolves, BA does her damnedest to tell the stories of her heart, which was raised in Northeast Texas, but is feeling the Colorado mountains calling. With books ranging from hard-hitting GLBT romance, to fiery menages, to the most traditional of love stories, BA refuses to be pigeon-holed by anyone but the voices in her head.
