Author Name & Publisher: J.A. Rock (Riptide Publishing)
Publication Date & Length: January 30th 2016

Synopsis

Honestly, I’m ready to take a step back from the Subs Club. Making the kink world a safer place for subs is the sort of bandwagon I’d have boarded as an idealist in my early twenties, but now I’m a pragmatist in my late twenties. I prefer to focus on adopting and raising a child.

But unexpected factors inevitably derail my plans. Like Drix Seger—attractive and the first genuine sadist I’ve encountered. If I were not in the process of renouncing my masochistic ways and becoming the normal, responsible potential father the adoption agency wants to see, Drix and I might do well together.

But he has a foolish name and belongs to a cult of vampyres, and I am quitting kink. So why does Drix’s infatuation with blood and biting make me so hot I can’t think straight? And why, when he looks at me, does he seem to see something beyond a basket case with a stick up my ass?

Can I start a new phase in my life without leaving part of myself behind? Please send help.

FiveStars

So I just finished this book and want to get it all out while it is still fresh in my head… Just wow!!! Damn um what to say.. Okay what the hell did I just read and why did I like it so much lol.

So to start of this review by saying I am a huge fan of BDSM books. That being said so many of the things that Miles was into I had absolutely no idea about at all. I thought the author did a amazing job of explaining everything and yes there were time I thought about looking something up to get a better idea and lets just say I am a little scared to lol.

Now I have never read a book like this when the main MC was such a hardcore masochist like Miles is. Now I am calling him hardcore because some of the things he is into I would never ever be okay with for me but that is not me saying I could not see the appeal to some. I mean he likes all things pain, like blood and stables, being bitten to the point of bleeding.. I could go on but I really do not want to give away too many spoilers and ruin this book for anyone and those were the light things he likes. So to me at least he came across as hardcore and it was a whole different perspective on a kink that many may enjoy.

So in other words the way this author wrote this story and these characters was truly amazing because for someone like me who may not be into that kind of play to understand it and get how some would be was just… for a lack of better words awesome! I also was rooting for him to be able to have his dream of being a father too.

Now I have to say I can not wait for Kamen’s book because just that little scene between Ryan and him was seriously so damn hot!!

So I will leave this review with… I may feel a little wrong right now for loving a book this much with this kind of kink in it but oh well, because this book was freaking awesome!! This author has managed to change my whole perspective on certain aspects of BDSM/Sadist relationships. Before I really had no idea about what it entailed to be a masochist but now I do and damn!!! That is all I can say about that lol.

So if you are easily squeamish when it comes to hardcore pain play this book might not be for you.

But all together I 100% loved this book and would definitely recommend it! I seriously can not wait for the next book in this series!

FourandHalfStars

I did read book 1 in this series, but feel that it’s not necessary.  While it helps to know some of the characters, it’s not the end all, be all and you could get away with just reading this one as a stand alone.
Miles is looking for something – he’s not quite sure what.  He seems to know what he wants, goes after it, but leaves a piece of himself behind.  While he is searching for his conclusion, he reaches out to friends for support.  However, when he reveals that he is looking to adopt, his revelation is not received very warmly. I like how Miles didn’t cave.  He was upset, but he was also strong enough to know that he could be a dad.
Then you meet Drix.  The name itself lends to some chills.  I love that he had his own subculture, was willing to learn about Miles’ subculture and together, they were able to create their very own world.
The chemistry between Drix and Miles is outstanding! They have romance, drama, love and lust all wrapped around them.  When they scene together, it’s very hot.
Dana and Zac were the perfect conclusion.  They helped to complete a story that was in need of a new beginning.  I loved how sweet both Drix and Miles were with Zac and how inquisitive they were about each other.  It helped to create a peaceful beginning to the end, if that makes sense.
I can’t wait to see if more comes from this group!
