Oh man, when I read the description for this book, I knew I just had to read it. I’m glad I did. I don’t often read K.A. Merikan much, not because Merikan is a bad author, but because I don’t read much MC romances, but when I do want to read an edgy, sexy, MM romance, I come back to K.A. Merikan.
In this book, we have Jed. He’s messed up. Like seriously messed up. His mom abandoned him when he was young, he hurts himself, drinks way too much, does drugs and also tried to kill himself. And strangely enough, I liked him. The way the author wrote his character, his faults, made him really human to me.
Then we have Ryder, sexy, badass Ryder. Jed’s “step-brother” and his kryptonite. What Jed doesn’t realize is he’s also Ryder’s kryptonite. They both live dangerous lives in a motorcycle club, but they’ve been looking out for one another for a long time. I love how Ryder is so protective of Jed and doesn’t even let having a girlfriend get in the way. Yeah, it’s messed up how Ryder can have a relationship with a woman for 2 years, but be totally in love with Jed. He was in self denial until he went to prison for 3 months taking the blame for Jed’s petty crimes. There he did it with a man after finding out that his girlfriend was prego with another man’s baby. (there’s a twist to that)
Anyway, after that, Ryder realized that he felt way more for Jed than normal brotherly love and bi-curiousness. When Jed tried to kill himself? Game over. He was all over Jed and I was like “YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!” LMAO
This book was seriously long. Like, possibly too long cause not a lot of action happened. There was little plots with Dana (Jed’s pretend Girlfriend) and the MC needing funds to stay active, but it shouldn’t have been over 300 pages. Still, I liked it way too much to bring it to 4 stars, so 4 1/2 it is.
Oh, there’s also humor in this book. It was funnier than I expected, so props to the author for not being afraid to add a little humor.
And there’s one thing I’m confused about, well 2, but this one had me going back to reread the last chapter. Does Ryder and Jed’s “father” know that they’re in a relationship? At the end ,that wasn’t made clearly. He knew Jed was gay, but did he know his real son, Ryder, was also? And that they were a couple? Hmm…

FourStarsThis story lived up to its name.  There was a ton of mayhem and lots of sex.  I have not read any previous books in this series, but didn’t feel that I was missing anything.

Jed has such an innocence to him.  He is trying so hard to be the kind of brother/biker that everyone thinks he should be.  Then you have that terrible situation for him – one that he tries very hard to handle on his own.  Despite him not being the brightest character out there, his predicament, love for his fellow brother and knowledge that he can’t really be himself, Jed struggles.  It’s only when he finds acceptance that he really tries to be better.

Then you have Ryder.  He projects an air about him that all the brothers respect.  He has a great girlfriend who he loves a lot.  But, does Ryder really understand those feelings?  Is he really as straight as he tries to be?  Nope.  He is still just a young kid when it comes to love too.  The protection that he feels towards Jed is really genuine and he tries very hard to get Jed to see that he is self destructing.

Despite all the chaos in their lives, both Ryder and Jed find a way to figure some of their stuff out.  The heartache that Jed goes through, I totally felt.  My heart broke for him.  Then, when Ryder faces his own dilemmas, my heart ached for him too.

This book runs the gamut of emotions – love, hate, fear, anger.  They are all powerful and well written.  I really enjoyed this story.

FiveStarsOh WOW, K.A. Merikian did it again with this fantastic book.  It has everything you would think a book about bikers should have, violence, death, gruesome scenes.

The story line was good, stepbrothers, I LOVE stepbrother books, but this one with two brothers wasn’t something I have come acrossed before.  But it was fantastic.  I’m never disappointed when I pick up a book by K.A. Merikan.

The characters came alive on the pages and made a fantastic couple.  Once Jed and Ryder got together I felt at times that Jed was so whiney.  Jed was so reckless and yet Ryder was the more stable one but together they were steamy.

If you haven’t ventured into this series I highly recommend it.

Agnes is the Merikan nitpicker, usually found busy with formatting and research. Her attention tends to be scattered, and despite pushing thirty, she needs to apply makeup to buy alcohol. Self-proclaimed queen of the roads.

They love the weird and wonderful, stepping out of the box, and bending stereotypes both in life and books. When you pick up a Merikan book, there’s one thing you can be sure of – it will be full of surprises.

Inspiration never failed them so far, but they are ready to hunt down the exotic and unique. Kat and Agnes are pursuing their dream of becoming full fledged virtual nomads.
