Title: Eyes Only for Me
Author Name & Publisher: Andrew Grey (Dreamspinner Press)
Publication Date & Length: November 23, 2015 – 200 pgs
For years, Clayton Potter’s been friends and workout partners with Ronnie. Though Clay is attracted, he’s never come on to Ronnie because, let’s face it, Ronnie only dates women.
When Clay’s father suffers a heart attack, Ronnie, having recently lost his dad, springs into action, driving Clay to the hospital over a hundred miles away. To stay close to Clay’s father, the men share a hotel room near the hospital, but after an emotional day, one thing leads to another, and straight-as-an-arrow Ronnie make a proposal that knocks Clay’s socks off! Just a little something to take the edge off.
Clay responds in a way he’s never considered. After an amazing night together, Clay expects Ronnie to ignore what happened between them and go back to his old life. Ronnie surprises him and seems interested in additional exploration. Though they’re friends, Clay suddenly finds it hard to accept the new Ronnie and suspects that Ronnie will return to his old ways. Maybe they both have a thing or two to learn.
This was a complete Gay For You book, but it was really sweet at the same time. Normally I’m not a big fan of GFY stories, but this one worked as Ronnie tried to figure out what he felt, not just Clayton, but in general.
I did have a hard time with how easily Ronnie seemed to give in to Clayton time after time and then only to say he wasn’t sure what he wanted later.
However, I did enjoy the story and the struggles of the couple as they tried to still be friends and not lose that even though there was sexual tension there.
The narrator did an okay job. I found there to be strange breathing breaks at times which was distracting, but overall I think he added to the story as a whole.
I love reading books by Andrew Grey, they have so much heart.
Eyes Only For Me is about Clayton Potter and his one-sided love for his best friend, Ronnie. When his relationship ended with someone he thought he’d be with forever, Ronnie was there to help him pick up the pieces, just like how Clayton was there for Ronnie when Ronnie’s father died.
Now Ronnie is helping Clayton when Clayton gets a call about his father having a stroke. Ronnie is supposed to be straight, but he sleeps with Clay, who’s already in love with Ronnie. I felt for Clay, he’s been through so much, and honestly, I thought he could have done better than Ronnie. I liked Ronnie…and I didn’t. Not sure why I wasn’t able to connect with him. Actually, I didn’t start liking him til the end.
As much as Clayton loved Ronnie, I’m glad he put his foot down and made Ronnie decide. He wasn’t going back in the closet and wasn’t about to watch Ronnie flirt with other women. Good for him. And good for Ronnie when he surprised Clayton and came out to everyone they knew mattered. Ronnie’s mom was awesome and so was Clayton’s dad. They should hook up. lol
