Title: Love is for the Living (Albion Rising, Book 1)
Author Name & Publisher: Nicholas Kinsley (Forbidden Fiction)
Publication Date & Length: October 13, 2015 – 207 pgs

The zombies have arrived, and Blaine needs to escape. He’d always thought of his London neighborhood as a place of safety, but then his infected neighbors tried to eat him. Blaine packed a bag and fled through growing numbers of shambling, voracious monsters–people, he had to remind himself, they’re people–toward his family in Bristol. He would surely have died without the turn of luck that brought him Commander Andrew Peterson. Together, they face the horrors and adversities of the apocalypse, trying to protect their loved ones, and—if they’re lucky—find love for themselves.

I love a good zombie story with the heros falling in love and having to fight their way through the zombie apocalypse. Albion Rising is a good one. It wasn’t complex, but it kept me entertained and reading it straight through. The author is talented, he knows how to draw a reader in and make them invest in the characters survival and developments.
Blaine started out as a real weakling, but thanks to a lethal old man who trained him for 2 months, he became stronger. I’m glad the author didn’t turn him from a weakling to instant Rambo in 5 seconds. LOL. It took 2 months for him to become an expert shooter and zombie killer, but he was still a skinny, 19 year old kid trying to survive. He still felt fear so it made him realistic and human.
Andrew was already a warrior when the zombie infection started. He was a marine and had the chance to get away, but he stayed. Unfortunately, he wasn’t very popular with the civilians. His orders where to kill anyone and anything that tried to get on the military base and he followed orders. Months later, he leaves to find his sister after his lover and best friend dies in his arms. it was really sad.
I like how the author didn’t make Andrew so macho. In the beginning, it was like Andrew was cold and heartless, but he broke down and cried. He tried to fight his feeling for Blaine, but there was a good reason for it.
This isn’t a book with a lot of sex, there’s only like 2 scenes but it was enough. Made the book more realistic. Props to Kinsley and I can’t wait for book 2. I gave this story 4 STARS instead of 5 just because someone died at the end that I didn’t want to die (GRRR), and there were really slow moments with the characters doing nothing.

Okay I will be the first to admit I love all things Zombies which is really weird I know because I used to not watch Zombie movies due to the fact they used too freak me out lol.  Then Walking Dead happened and that was all she wrote now I am a huge fan.  So I will say that I loved the zombie part of this book but everything else was just okay.  Let me tell you why..
The angst between the two MC’s was kind of ridiculous.  There was so much back and forth between Andrew and Blaine it seriously started giving me a headache.  Andrew was a huge jerk which I could call him something else but trying not to swear in this review.  There was no way I would ever even with him being the last man on earth, ever hook up with him with the way he talked to Blaine.  Then there was Blaine and the way he followed him around like a little puppy which made me want to yell into the book get some self confidence and move on already.
Yes I know Andrew lost a lot of people he cared for but so did everyone else and you did not see anyone treating everyone like crap like he treat Blaine.  By the time they finally got together I was honestly over it and more interested in the zombie part of the book then anything else.  I really like were the author was going with this book and the writing I just did not like the two MC’s at all…
