Title: Splintered (Splintered #1)
Author Name: SJD Peterson
Publication Date & Length: October 6, 2014 – 220 pgs

A string of murders targeting effeminate gay men has the GLBTQ community of Chicago on alert, but budget cuts have left many precincts understaffed and overworked. Not to mention, homophobia is alive and well within the law enforcement community and little has been done to solve the mystery. When the FBI calls in Special Agent Todd Hutchinson and his team, the locals are glad to hand the case off. But Hutch finds a bigger mystery than anyone originally realized—seventeen linked murders committed in several different jurisdictions. Hutch’s clues lead him to Noah Walker.

Working on his PhD in forensic psychology, Noah has been obsessed with serial murders since he was a child. But coming to Hutch’s attention as a suspect isn’t a good way to start a relationship. Noah finds himself hunted, striking him off Hutch’s suspect list, but not off his radar. To catch the killer before anyone else falls victim, they’ll have to work together, and quickly, to bring him to justice.

**Audiobook Review**
I have to say that I was a bit surprised at this book after having read a few of SJD Peterson’s books. While it still had a bit of the wonderful sexy scenes that I’ve come to expect from her, but this also had a totally new mystery/suspense aspect that I hadn’t really expected.
The plot was excellent and I liked all the characters in the story as usual with Jo’s books. Her writing is fantastic and I loved to see this new side of her writing. However at the same time I have to admit I dropped the star rating a bit because I missed some of the chemistry and romance between the main characters due to so many other things going on at the same time.
Another fantastic narration from Rusty Topsfield. I can officially say after having listened to a few books from him that he is one of the best narrators out there and I love the way he keeps the listener interested while bring the scenes to life.

Hutch is a bad ass cop – I liked how his character was always trying to take care of those around him.  Even though at times I wanted to smack him on the back of his head with a “what the hell?” smack.  Noah is a bookish type, who, despite being incredibly smart has a streak of shyness when it comes to lecturing in class.  It was somewhat contradictory since he was not shy about wanting to bed Hutch.

Noah’s character is sweet, innocent and seems to be always horny.  In this game of cat and mouse – each player is strategically danced around the other.  It was a cunning story where the “who did it” was tricky and very well hidden.

I really enjoyed the mystery aspect of this story.  It was well rounded and showed a great depth – The sexual chemistry was beyond hot as well.

It’s been an amazing journey since DSP first contracted Lorcan’s Desire in January 2011. I’ve published 2 free reads with the M/M Romance group, my back list is growing, met some great people and have made some amazing friends.
I’m still in shock that I’m listed among the many talented authors at Dreamspinner Press! The little voice in the back of my head is screaming, “You are so out of your league.”
Shhhhh I won’t tell them if you don’t 🙂

You can call me Jo, everyone does 🙂
