Synopsis

Zach Kelly’s life is a shambles. His boyfriend of three years dumped him, and his writing career is going nowhere. On a whim, he heads to Provincetown, Massachusetts, to nurse his broken heart and figure out his next step. He’s expecting to find rest and relaxation on the sandy beaches of Cape Cod. Instead, Zach meets a hunky porn star during a chance encounter at a leather shop he mistakes as a place to buy a belt that is definitely not for whipping.

Van Pierce is smitten when shy and inexperienced Zach crashes through a shelf of fetish gear. Though Van’s got an insatiable appetite for men on and off the set, his porn persona, Hart Throb, hides a broken heart. He’s struggling to find the reality the porno set doesn’t offer, and Zach is fighting to find the fantasy that will set his writing on fire. The odd goofball and the suave beefcake may either find love amid Provincetown’s colorful pageantry where summer never seems to end—or more heartbreak than either can imagine.

ThreeStar

So, Jacob Z. Flores is a new author for me and I get to read 4 of this books in one bundle package. “Provincetown” was an interesting place. It’s very gay friendly, with the LGBT community outnumbering straight couples, but everyone seems to be accepting. It sounds like a cool place to hang out…however, the place is odd. IDK…the author tries to make the town seem like a charming, exciting, mysterious place to live, but it seems like it’s too exciting. Like the town is a 24 hr party town with every gay man wanting to bone each other with no limit. It’s a fictional town, but I don’t think I’d want to live somewhere like that 24hrs. lol
The first story was about about Zach, a guy who gets dump by someone he’s been dating and living with for 3 yrs. Apparently the breakup came out of nowhere. So Zach heads to Provincetown, a random decision cause he saw the ad for that town and decided that it seemed like a good place to chill and nurse a broken heart. There he meets Van, a porn star. I tried hard to like this couple, but it really wasn’t working for me. Idk, maybe it was just me. I couldn’t get into the flow of their story. Maybe cause the first time Zach went out, he got sexual with a couple on the dance floor. I was like…”really?”
The second book was about Zach’s father, Gil and how he fell for Tom, Zach’s best friend, a much younger man obviously. Their story was a bit likable than the first, but it was still a struggle for me to get into the story, and it wasn’t even set in Provincetown. Gil cheated on his wife with men and she discovered it, making their hometown turn their backs on Gil. Tom has been in love with Gil since he was a kid and it didn’t matter to him what Gil had done in the past. Just what he’d be in the future. I just went with the story and read it. I liked Tom, Gil, not so much.
I gotta be honest and say I didn’t read the other 2 books in the bundle. I gave this a 3 because it does have 4 stories in a bundle and Provincetown does sound interesting. Will I read the other 2 books? Maybe.

AuthorBio

Jacob Z. Flores lives a double life. During the day, he is a respected college English professor and mid-level administrator. At night and during his summer vacation, he loosens the tie and tosses aside the trendy sports coat to write man on man fiction, where the hard ass assessor of freshmen level composition turns his attention to the firm posteriors and other rigid appendages of the characters in his fictional world.

Summers in Provincetown, Massachusetts, provide Jacob with inspiration for his fiction. The abundance of barely clothed man flesh and daily debauchery stimulates his personal muse. When he isn’t stroking the keyboard, Jacob spends time with his daughter. They both represent a bright blue blip in an otherwise predominantly red swath in south Texas.
