Synopsis

BOOK ONE: DANGEROUS LIVES OF HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES

Shawn and Alex have been friends since first grade.

Alex, the rock star quarterback, appears to be basking in the limelight of his success and his new romance with Pam. But appearances can be deceiving.

Shawn is the key man in the football team’s solid defense. He’s also the senior class’ most eligible bachelor. But Shawn has no time to get involved with a girl—at least, that’s what he tells his friends.

In reality, he does have a love interest… Tony Valito.

Side-by-side, the relationships between the two couples blossom. One in the open. The other in secret. That is, until Shawn’s world erupts when the rumor that he’s gay gathers momentum.

In trying to find Shawn, perhaps his friends will end up finding themselves. And everyone will discover how dangerous are the lives of high school athletes.

FiveStarsThis book is as nothing like I expected it to be but so much more.

Bullying is such a huge problem in our world today and then you have the ones that are bullied. In the case of this book it was Tony. Tony is gay and he is not an athlete so in the bullies opinions he is the easy target. It is aweful the things that Peter and Dan do to him but what is worse is the number of people who stand around and watch and do nothing. I think that is the catalyst of the escalating problem in this story.

Shawn is also a main character in this book and he has his owe secrets to hide but not because he is ashamed of who he is but because he knows how his father will react. And reality is that he does react badly to finding out his son is gay but realizes almost immediately that he reacted the wrong way when Shawn disappears.

This is where the real troubles begin. Not only for Tony but Shawn. Their lives are in danger but the question is will they be found in time or will it be too late.

Phil Macello did an excellent job at writing this book and making it very believable. Phil was able to instill the emotions of not only the situation but also of the characters, not just the main characters either but each character in the book. This was a very sad but touching story and very well written at the same time. I cannot wait for book two to come out. This was an amazing read and I hope many more will read it and feel the same as I do.

FiveStars

This is a book based on more of a mystery/suspense with a little bit of loving going on. You never know what is going to go down once you turn the next corner or who is going to be involved.

The story starts when Kyle is 14 years old and his math teacher starts to obsess over him. At 16 Kyle runs away to America and meets his idol Stoney. At 18 the story really begins.

Kyle in my opinion has no control over what is happening in his world so that is why he latched on to the first thing that feels right in his life and that is following and being a fan of Stoney. I think that Kyle convinces himself that he and Dtoney will end up together and passes up on what could be the real thing with Bryce. I think that subconsciously he knows that he will never end up with Stoney and that is why Bryce is the one he always calls when he is in trouble and needs help. Kyle may not stay with Bryce but when his life and Stoney’s life are both in danger the one and only person he turns to is the one person he knows subconsciously will be there to save him, Bryce.

I think that from the first meeting Bryce knows he will never be able to get over Kyle and he knows that he is probably the only one that Kyle has trusted enough to be honest with. Bryce feels the connection between the two of them but he will not push how he feels on Kyle. He lets him go and when Kyle calls when his stalker comes calling again, Bryce is there for him. The question is when Kyle is safe who is it he will choose to be with Stoney or Bryce??

This was a book full of suspense as I said at the beginning of my posting and I enjoyed every minute of reading it. I never knew what was going to happen next and I hope that book two will tell more about how it all turned out in the long run of things. This is definitely a great read and Parker Avrile did an amazing job on it.

I really enjoy this book and this was a new author for me. I feel the author had everything exactly right. The emotion we felt from Kyle seemed to be spot on. You could feel the loneliness pouring off the pages for Kyle. It seemed like he had no place to turn. He has to deal with the stalker from hell right from the beginning and he feels forced to run away from home. Then Kyle meets Bryce. The connection between the two was absolutely great and as they began to their relationship you couldn’t help but root for both men. Then the stalker from hell shows up again but this time Kyle is not alone. Bryce was a pretty complex character yet I just knew he would be there for Kyle.  This book is not what I would consider a light read. Kyle goes through so many emotions and clearly feels lost. This book has everything from drama to angst to eventually love.

What do you do when your lover is obsessed with perfection?
Naval officer, Lord George Beswick would do anything for his lover, William Rohen, who desires nothing but the finest clothes. He sets out to help William create the perfect wardrobe, though his insecurities and William’s threaten to tear them apart.
I’ve always been a fan of regency romances, and this one did not disappoint. Even though this was a novella, I was impressed at just how well formed the characters were. I felt as though I had spent an entire book with them, getting to know their quirks. Their relationship was incredibly well written, and incredibly human. They both grappled with insecurities about their relationship and how much they meant to one another, but they dealt with them in healthy, mature ways.
On top of that, the sex was really hot. The novella focuses a lot on clothing, and that definitely added a sexy element to all the erotic scenes. The term ‘clothing porn’ comes to mind!
Overall, a great look into this relationship. I would love to read more about them!

Caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, instead of arresting Yates, Sean is rescued by him and taken to Yates’ home—a satellite high above Earth. There, Sean discovers a world he thought possible only in Science Fiction.

FiveStarsThis book turned out to be so much better then I figured that it would be by the description of the book. It is full of adventure, danger, jealousy, love, acceptance, and trust.

Sean was bound and determined that Yates aka Yana was dirty and was up to no good but that could not have been further from the truth. Once Sean finds out the truth about Yana and finally gets to know who he is he finally gives in to the feelings he has been having towards him even when he thought that he was bad.

Through the time that Yana and Sean get to know more about one another their bond grows and grows. They face all the bad together and enjoy all of the good. With every turn of event that comes their way, they grow stronger and closer until they can not imagine their lives without each other. Then their little family grows just a little more when Mickey (Seans nephew) joins them on home and resides that he wants to follow In their foot steps as a peace keeper. These three men will face everything together and will come out on the winning side together because they have one another.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was so action packed that there was not a full minute through the whole course of the book. I think many more will enjoy reading it also.

Blow Down is the most British thing I’ve experienced since Downton Abbey, in a delightfully wonderful way. Tom Paretski is a plumber. He has a truck full of plumbing stuff and everything. His dreamy fiance Phil is a private investigator. Convenient since Tom keeps finding dead bodies everywhere. The curses of small towns in England. (I guess there they’re “villages”).
Tom is also a psychic, which should make me roll my eyes, but is in fact very well done. He gets vibes and there’s even a pseudoscience dowsing explanation I’m happy to roll with. Tom is charming and surrounded by a cast of supporting characters who annoy and love him.
Tom and Phil do a lot of watching telly and drinking down at the pub, so this cozy novel meanders a bit slowly. If the body’s already dead, where’s the urgency, right? But since getting sucked into Tom’s world is so fun, it doesn’t matter. Merrow’s world is vivid and palpable. I absolutely love spending time there.
I had not read the Plumber’s Mate Mysteries 1-3 before I read 4, which seemed to work out fine. But I’ve bought them all now. This is one of the last reviews I’ll be writing for Inked Rainbow Reads and I’m thrilled to go out on such a high note.

Roadhouse Reds is an enjoyable Sci-Fi adventure. I recommend this to anyone looking for a story with magic-weilding aliens, drama, and some romance.

This story has an interesting premise. It took some time to really draw me in, but at about the halfway point it became a story I couldn’t put down.

All in all, I feel there’s a good blend of drama and action. There is a good cast of characters. Jason in particular has great depth, personality, and history. Some of this is lacking in the other characters, but they have enough personality to make them lovable.

I think the description of how the magic works is really well done. And I love the magical fight scenes. I also really appreciate that the most badass leader and fighter is a woman.

I’m not sure if a second book is planned, but there’s a hint at possibly more to come. I would happily read more if this was made into a series.

There are a few steamy and explicit sex scenes, but I wouldn’t recommend this to someone looking for a highly romantic or erotic story.

Um…well…I really didn’t get into this book. Which was odd cause I really love sci romance. But this book, it wasn’t really romance. Sci was there though. Okay, the thing i was mostly disappointed about was that I felt like I was led around a bit. I wasn’t sure who Jason, the main character, was supposed to end up with til, well, the end. And even the ending was unexpected. He ended up with 2 guys instead of one. How that happened, I don’t know.
I was pretty much confused through most of the book. There were a lot of characters to keep up with, but that was okay. it made the story more interesting. Still, it was NOT what I expected and that’s why this story is 3 stars for me. I was excited to read it but after a few chapters, I became really confused as to which guy I was supposed to root for to be with Jason. At the end, I wasn’t rooting for anyone. I just had a big question mark on my forehead.

**Audiobook by William James**
I have to say that this was by far my favorite installation of this series. I absolutely fell in love with and felt for both Thorne and Ian. They both had hard things in their past to get over, but together they managed to realize they could no longer simply ignore those issues if they wanted to be together.
There is a lot of love that is shown in this book, not just between our main characters, but brotherly love and family love that comes from the other people we’ve gotten to know from previous books in the series.
I would say this is a standalone book, however, to really understand the way Lang Downs works, you’ll have to start at the beginning.
I can’t wait to read more from Ariel Tachna.
I will make one note about the narrator besides saying that I like the way he gives each character their own vocal tone so you know who is who and he reads them so well there aren’t any parts that leaves you wondering what just happened because it might’ve been read with the wrong feelings. The narrator does leave very audible swallowing noises in the audio, which I found quite distracting at times. Other than that, well done.

This was not a long story not was it a short story. Reality is it was perfect. The length of the book was perfect for this story.

I really loved the characters in this book. Silas and Luke are completely different people but as in most cases opposites attract. And boy did they ever.

Silas tries to be a hard butt but he isn’t really. He really has a soft side to him or at least he does when it comes to Luke. But he also has a very protective side. Once he realizes that he cares what happens to Luke, I believe that he would stop at nothing to protect him.

Luke being a cop follows his instincts about people and they are telling him to trust Silas and so much more.

Does his instincts prove to be right or is Silas truly a fox and cannot be trusted????

I really enjoyed this read. It was full of emotion that did not drag out. It had just enough intrigue and mystery to it but it was also hot!!! Silvia Violet has a good book in hand with Dinner at Foxys. It will definitely be a hit.

Tosha

FourStars

This is the third story in this series, however, I have not read any of the previous books.

I felt that the story was more about Luke and his family’s issues, rather than the development of the relationship between Luke and Silas.

Silas is a police officer who is trying to make detective – and while he is in the middle of working a case, Luke’s family steps in to make things difficult.  It would seem that the story would develop from there, but it kind of just stands still for a while.  The secondary characters in this story, also, seemed to be a large part of the story – more so than I would have thought in such a short story.

Luke knows that his family will stop at nothing to obtain his father’s property, but Luke also wants to protect Silas.  I don’t quite know why he wants to keep his involvement a secret and we are never fully satisfied as to why that happens.  Luke’s character is kind and he created his own family within his restaurant.

This was a sweet story.  It had a lot of action and despite being a little slim on the relationship aspect, it worked as a story.

Excerpt

I’m Luke, and I’m a fox. Okay, I’m a fox shifter, but I’m also hot, a smooth-talker, and I give one wild ride. I run a restaurant in Atlanta. We sell the best damn fried chicken you’ve ever eaten. That’s right. I’m a bona fide fox in the henhouse. Our chicken comes in spicy, spicier, and fuck-me- I’m-on- fire.

The dinner shift is crazy as fuck tonight even though my best people are in the kitchen. I don’t know who decided to send me all the large parties, prize-winners for most finicky order, and downright bitchy-as- fuck complainers, but they are all out in force tonight.

I’m about to take a break. I need a whiskey, but a large sweet tea will have to do since I’m working.

The door chimes as it swings open, and I glance up, expecting another party of nine, half of them gluten-free vegans—at a fucking chicken shack—but, no… Fuck me.

It’s that gorgeous blond twink in a cop’s uniform, the one who’s become a regular. His baby face makes him look like he’s playing dress-up. I want to run my hands—and my tongue—over every inch of his smooth, pale skin. He glances my way, and his eyes widen for just a second. Then his tongue slides out to moisten his lips.

Maybe this night is about to improve. Officer Blond and Surely-Not- As-Young-As-He- Looks moves my way. Oh yes. Come to Daddy.

I thought you didn’t do cops.

Sometimes I hate my fucking conscience.

Nothing but trouble there.

I’m not like the rest of my family. I don’t run guns or steal cars. I don’t hurt people or use them. But some of my business interests aren’t exactly what you’d call legal. Hell, the simple fact that I’m a fox shifter makes me suspicious to most people.

However, this is one officer of the law I wouldn’t mind having a close acquaintance with.

The hottie in blue reaches the counter. “What can I do for you, Officer?” I ask.

His cheeks pinken adorably, but he holds eye contact. “You’re the owner, right? Luke Redtail.”

“That’s me.” I wink, and he glances away. This is going to be fun.

“I’m Officer Bixby, and I need to ask you some questions in connection with an investigation. Is there somewhere private we could go?”

My bed. It’s right upstairs. “I’ve got an office in the back. Let me get someone to run the register.”

As I turn toward the kitchen I see my uncle standing in the small side parking lot.

My uncle who’s supposed to be dead. What is he doing here? “Oh fuck!”

As he throws the object in his hand, I scream, “Get down! Now!” I grab my cop and haul him over the counter. Thank God for shifter strength. I wrap myself around him, but in the shock of the blast, we hit the floor.

Synopsis

Office manager Sam Emery is unemployed and out of luck. When his emotionally abusive wife demands a divorce, he contacts the one person he has left, his brother, Neil. He doesn’t expect Neil to reject him, but he also doesn’t expect the news of his divorce—and of his sexuality—to be met with such acceptance.

Neil takes Sam to Lang Downs, the sheep station Neil calls home. There, Sam learns that life as a gay man isn’t impossible. Caine and Macklin, the station owners, certainly seem to be making it work. When Caine offers Sam a job, it’s a dream come true.

Jeremy Taylor leaves the only home he’s ever known when his brother’s homophobia becomes more than he can bear. He goes to the one place he knows he will be accepted: Lang Downs. He clicks with Sam instantly—but the animosity between Lang Downs and Jeremy’s home station runs deep, and the jackaroos won’t accept Jeremy without a fight. Between Sam’s insecurity and Jeremy’s precarious position, their road will be a hard one—and that’s without having to wait for Sam’s divorce to be final before starting a new life together.

**Audiobook by William James**

I have to say I was a bit wary with how this story was going to go knowing that Jeremy is a Taylor and that Sam is the brother of Neil, who didn’t start out so nice toward Caine because he was gay.
However, I have to admit that I’m glad that I picked up this part of the series because I did end up loving the story and the men, as usual. I just don’t think it’s possible for Ariel Tachna to write an unloveable main character.
I have to say that I really this this series is getting better and better as it continues on. We are getting men from off Lang Downs coming to find a place that will help them heal emotionally and even find love, although neither is usually the intent when they land there.
I love that we get little views of previous couples from the first two books, but not so much that it takes away from the developing story.
The more I read into this series, the more I love it.
The narrator did a great job with the voices of so many men and keeping them all from sounding the same.

Synopsis

Alex Corrigan is in love with his boss, Judge Lawson Daniels, and thinks those feelings are returned. That assumption is sorely tested two days before the court holiday party they’re organizing together, when the venue calls and cancels, followed by a snafu with the caterer. Law can’t wait to see his clerk again. But Alex is cold and distant in the light of day, and Law doesn’t understand. The party looms in the background, but Law’s excitement is turning to dread. This was a very good short story with intrigue, crushes turned more, and a little bit of mystery.

I really enjoyed reading Law and Alex’s story. From the beginning of the book you could tell these two men had a lot of chemistry between them.

Add to the crush that Law and Alex have on one another and them both doing little things to get a small reaction from the other and the fact that everything that could go wrong with the employee Christmas party they have planned, has went wrong and you have a book made for a fun read.

This was a great short story of how these two men came together. I like that Jayce Ellis added in the element of mystery behind how or what was the cause of all the Christmas party disaster. Can’t wait to read more books by this author.
