FourStars

Three short stories in a quick, naughty novella.
This is my second piece of Lucy’s work that I have read and I have to admit that I rather enjoyed her style of writing. It flows nicely and keeps the reader interested in flipping the pages to find out what is going to happen. I enjoyed this one more than the one I read before though because I felt like we got to know the characters more and they were all more relateable.
I did feel like the naughty scenes were missing the sensual aspect that normally comes with them, which made me not care for them as much. With two women, I suppose I expect more sensuality and sexiness since women are sexy creatures. At times I became confused which character was doing what, which does happen sometimes with two female characters.
I have to say the first story was my absolute favorite piece of Lucy’s work I’ve read. It was longer than the other ones have been, but we also got to see more story development with it. The second story I felt was really great too because we got to see how much the two characters had in common.
I think another thing that was missing for me personally was that some of these characters were engaging in hot, passion filled sex, but somehow or another they always made it to a bed instead of other surfaces, which I would thing would be utilized when you are so lust driven and desiring the other person so much. You wouldn’t want to wait to get to the bed. It’d be the couch, the wall, anything that was along the way to the bedroom even.

5 Stars for Black Dog: Bannon’s Gym by Cat Grant

Black Dog

Title: Black Dog: Bannon’s Gym
Author Name: Cat Grant
Publication Date & Length: April 1, 2014 – 145pgs

Synopsis

Which dog wins? The one you feed.

Danny Bannon and Eddie Roscoe have been fighting, in and out of the ring, for more than fifteen years. Mutual attraction and small-town ties hold them together, yet they’re haunted by a shared tragedy that still hangs between them.

Their tenuous, on-again off-again relationship takes a hard right cross with the arrival of Tom Delaney, a teen on the run from his punch-happy father. In no time, the kid shows himself to be a boxing prodigy.

But Tom’s politically influential father isn’t yet down for the count. When his mother shows up at Eddie’s diner with a shiner and a haunted look in her eyes, Tom is hopeful for her future. But when that hope is snuffed out, Tom’s rage has him ready to turn his new fighting skills to a deadly purpose. Revenge, or die trying.

Unless his surrogate big brothers can put their painful past behind them to keep history from rising up for another round.
This book has been previously published.

Warning: Tough guys with a long history beating the crap out of each other to avoid saying “I love you”. Heaps of sexual tension. More angst and emotion than deemed safe by the Surgeon General. Proceed with caution!

FiveStars

4.5-5 Stars

I find this book very hard to rate. Part of me wants to rate it lower, part of me wants to add plus signs to the rating.

Danny and Eddie have this tense relationship from the past… because they’d kept it a secret it caused someone they both loved to make a life ending mistake. They both have held it against the other for many years. I wanted SOOOOOOOOOO much more about this relationship. We get little snippets, but never really get what their relationship was or wasn’t in the past except a one time hook up, yet it is hinted that there were other times so I was a bit confused on their past. Their current time was quite lovely though. Albeit, I do wish we’d have gotten to see the Surgeon in action more and gotten to see that side of him more, I did feel the gym/boxing side of things was pretty well covered.

Then we have Tom, the run-away with a wicked past and a powerful, influential family he’s hiding out from. The story is mostly about finding out who Tom is and what he’s been through and continues to deal with. While we get closure of sorts with him, we aren’t entirely sure where he’ll be going in the future. Will he go on to bigger and harder boxing matches or will he go to college?

While I wish I had more answers, I fully understand that this is a book one in a series and many of those answers very likely will come from the follow up books. So even though I felt like we had a couple story lines with different characters going on and I wanted more from some of them, I didn’t feel like the story itself was bad. I did wish to see more naughty scenes between the pair since they were so hot and fired up for each other, then again that might be a personal preference.

I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

3.5 Stars for Girls Rule, Boys Drool by Lucy Felthouse – #F/F @cw1985

Girls Rule, Boys Drool

Title: Girls Rule, Boys Drool
Author Name: Lucy Felthouse
Publication Date & Length: December 5th, 2013 – 31 pgs

Synopsis

Three lesbian erotic short stories from popular writer Lucy Felthouse.

Girls Rule, Boys Drool

Boyish dyke Toni is working at the local golf club, serving champagne to arrogant, privileged folk when she spots Clarissa. She’s one of the posh people, but she looks like she’d rather be somewhere else—anywhere else. Toni’s immediately smitten and wants to put a smile on the older woman’s beautiful face, so she decides to show Clarissa just why girls rule and boys drool.

Once outside again, Nikki slowly starts to feel better—and, much to her surprise, horny. Quickly realising that the fear has acted as a potent aphrodisiac, she decides to take advantage of that fact, right there in the middle of the city.

ThreeandHalfStars

Three short stories with three different couples in wildly sexy situations.

The overall writing was well done to me. There were parts that were a bit confusing because of the British terms as I am an American, but I didn’t feel it was too big of a deal.

I would liked to have seen a bit more emotion/feeling from the characters besides how sexy and hot the other character was. The best one really was Fear as an Aphrodisiac for feelings as we felt the terror from Nikki. The transition to the naughty bit was a bit odd to me though.

The naughty scenes were plentiful… but some parts were missing the sensual side of such interactions.

Lastly, I felt like the name let the book down. I didn’t feel it had anything to do with the book or the characters and their experiences. It comes across a bit sexist, which isn’t appealing. But the cover art is great, I just didn’t care for the actual name.

I would recommend this author and would definitely be willing to read other works of hers as I think there is a lot of potential for something really great there.

This little story is fantastic. There you go. Well-written and well-set in the mountain pastures of the past. Evocative and time and place without being pretentious or meta–which is an accomplishment. It’s a story to get lost in. Our hero Iason has compelling melancholy. His lover-from-afar Telesphoros sweet and appropriately mysterious.
Be warned, there is significant and explicit sexual and physical violence. It’s not for everyone. But the story lingers sweetly in my mind, its politics and lessons still intriguing, even as an erotic short. And it is too short, but that’s okay. Oh, and the sex is hot, too.

ThreeandHalfStars

The story is 4.5 stars, but with the formatting, spelling and grammar issues, it drops the rating to a 3.5.

Elaine White wrote a great story of coming of age. I enjoyed how she sets up the story line and develops the characters. I felt that the story was endearing and heartfelt. I could sympathize with the main character – could feel the angst of his struggle. White wrote in a manner that allowed me to realize how hard believing in yourself can be when you’re so young. It also showed what true friendship can consist of, as well as what unconditional love looks like.
I liked that the reader was given a fairly comprehensive background for Cormag – it helped to understand where Lachlan fit in to his life. I also appreciated how hard Lachlan’s decisions were for his friends and family to accept. But I loved that he stood up for what he wanted and believed – it made me really respect him and Cormag. I also felt that White did a great job of portraying a realistic relationship – it wasn’t hyper-sexualized – it was more innocent than that, but it helped to foster the coming of age feeling. Despite the story line being somewhat predictable, I still enjoyed it a lot.
There are several typos, formatting issues (at least in the kindle) and some spelling issues (even though I realize there were some European spellings, there are also some common spelling errors). It made it more difficult to read the story because the poor editing distracted from the story. I also listened to some of the book while in the car and with the inconsistent spacing (especially with the pronoun “he” – h e) it made it very difficult to follow the audio. This book would be more well received if the edits were to be redone.

4 Stars for Deconstructing Channing by BA Tortuga – @batortuga #Menage

1329805_97655793

Title: Deconstructing Channing
Author Name: BA Tortuga
Publication Date & Length: August 13, 2014 – 73 Pages

Synopsis

When they were young together back in their werecat pride, Bowie and Channing experimented with love and sex, as well as flirting with a threesome with their best friend, Emma. Channing and Emma both ran from their needs, leaving Bowie to break away and find his own life. Now a confident master dominant, Bowie discovers Channing again through a video of a consummate sub, one who Bowie knows he needs to find once more.

When Bowie shows up on his doorstep, Channing feels like a teenager again, all confusion and need. He doesn’t date his own kind, only humans, and he’s not in the market for a full time master. Bowie is impossible to deny, a force of nature, and while both men know they’ll have to think about Emma eventually, now is the time to see if they can get to know, and love each other, all over again.

FourStars

This was a very good read. It was hot and sexy and had a premise I appreciated. The beginning did weird me out a little with Bowie being a cat in the train car, but after that, I got used to it and appreciated it. The journey these two characters started years ago comes to life when they are brought back together. Both Bowie and Channing are very well-rounded characters, and their personality differences are definitely compatible with each other. This is a read I would recommend to anyone who wants light gay BDSM erotica.

Now…here’s some minor things I had issues with. Channing wiggles a lot. He is constantly wiggling, and it because less sexy the more it goes on. Secondly, Channing is constantly crossing his eyes. This does not scream pleasure to me but rather someone trying to be funny. I don’t think that’s what the author was going for.

While the sex is steamy and romantic and full of feels, there isn’t a lot of variety in the actual positions. In a gay BDSM book, I’ll admit, I was expecting quite a bit more variety. However, how the scenes were written made up for the lack of variety.

What I had a hard time standing…
I kept waiting for the girl. This was promoted to me as a menage, as M/M/F… there’s no girl. Not even a whiff of a character entering the scene. There’s talk of one, (which I’m sure will be the sequel and follow up to this one, and I’m so going to read it) but there is no actual girl. This is a gay erotic BDSM romance, not menage. I kept waiting for Emma to enter the story and that did not happen.

Overall this was a great read, and one I have already recommended to friends.

Excerpt

The trip was designed to give him time. Time to figure out what he was going to say to Channing Lanier when he saw the sorry son of a bitch again.

He could start with “Hey, you rat bastard. Amazing how you came out after you dropped me like a hot rock.” That would be fun. Or maybe, “I thought you weren’t into spanking and bondage, and your precious asshole was sacrosanct, but now you’re a bottom in the underground BDSM scene,” would work better.

Bowie wouldn’t even be going to see said bottoming asshole if it wasn’t for the flyer tucked neatly away in his briefcase.

Tawny Catnip.

Seriously?

Their Emma was a fucking stripper?

A Vegas stripper? The revue was touted as a classy burlesque show and topless nightclub called Catnip Crazy.

Hell, the crazy thing was that both of his ex-lovers had called him a goddamn perv.

Him. Because he’d wanted them both. Because he’d wanted Emma over his lap. Because he’d wanted to see Channing bound and on his knees between the both of them.

Fuckers.

Cover Reveal: David’s Dilemma by Rae Brewer – M/M, Paranormal Romance

Jaguar Bk 4

Title: David’s Delimma
Author Name: Rae Brewer
Publication Date & Length:

Synopsis

It’s been three years since David broke up with Michael. He’s ready to find his mate. Only the only man he’s attracted to at all is a hookup from a bar. After hours of passion they separate and David only discovers the next morning the man was his mate. Where can he find him again? And what is his name?

Excerpt

David woke late Sunday afternoon with a headache, which didn’t seem fair because he hadn’t drunk very much the night before. Damn head cold! He still remembered every minute of the night before. Part of him wished he’d broken his own rule and let the handsome hunk stay over. He got what he wanted, he would have blown me off when he saw me in the light of day. Getting out of bed he stumbled to the bathroom sneezing. He decided to take a hot shower, the steam would clear up his sinuses, for a while. He wanted a clear head so he could convince himself it was time to settle down and find a forever love. No more casual sex!

Setting the temp as hot as he could stand, he stepped into the oversized stall. The room quickly filled with steam and his nose started running. He gave a fleeting thought to the scents he was washing down the drain before he remembered his sheets. His cougar wasn’t very happy with him for kicking HH,  he handsome hunk, out of their bed and was pouting by being silent. Of course his cougar was generally subdued when he was showering.

After twenty minutes in the steam his muscles were loose and he could breathe again, for now. Stepping out of the shower onto the bathmat he grabbed a clean towel off the shelf and after a quick rub down, wrapped it around his waist. Taking a look in the mirror he decided to take some cold medicine and spend the day being lazy. He was already envisioning a long afternoon on the couch snuggled in a blanket with a pitcher of lemon water and some chicken soup within easy reach. I’m wallowing, because I already miss him.

First though, he needed to strip the bed and put the sheets in the wash. Later, he knew he’d want cool fresh sheets to sleep in. And right now he was as awake, alert, and as energetic as he was going to be for the rest of the day. Walking through the door to the bedroom the scents from his sheets hit him all at once. His inner cat roared and David was so surprised he didn’t stop the shift.

Leaping onto the bed in his puma form, he rolled around in the sheets before sneezing. Sitting up in the bed he had a sheet wrapped around him, the end flopping over his head. He could see his reflection in the mirror on the opposite wall. Big tough cat, not! Mate! We found our mate!

Shifting back into his human form allowed him to say what he was thinking. “Shit! Shit, shit, shit!” Untangling himself from the bedding he began to pace around the room. I don’t even know his name!
